earer to nature, edging towards paradise, the Caribbean provides the ideal hideaway. Windswept beaches where the only footprints are yours; coral reefs fringing pristine white sands where a deliciously unhurried vibe permeates the deserted cays and undiscovered coves. For the romantic, there are lush tropical gardens and dramatic stretches of coastline along the shores of Barbados to explore; private islands for afternoon picnics by warm, turquoise waters. Find blissful seclusion trekking in the dense rain forests of Jamaica or drift like a cosseted castaway amongst the picture perfect islands of the Turks & Caicos, a true escapist’s dream. The hot spots of Anguilla and St Barths are a magnet to the jet-set, whilst the colourful marketplaces of Antigua and St Lucia burst with fruits and handicrafts as exotic as the mix of cultures and influences – French, African and Caribbean. The West Indian soul is joyful...the lifestyle laid-back and languid. In every corner and cove, reggae and calypso rhythms sing out and fragrant spices infuse the air. There is a destination for every desire and accommodation to match. Vibrant hotels and grand plantation mansions, contemporary spa resorts and utterly private villas. Perfect for those seeking peaceful isolation, rest and sophistication. From the moment that a travel adventure enters your mind, Carrier’s informed professionals – passionate travellers each and every one – are on hand to weigh up the options and devise the most imaginative itineraries, to seek out the most secluded beaches or exclusive hotels. No need to worry about dinner reservations, finding the best dive schools or the most luxurious yachts to charter. The world is Carrier’s playground. Travelling alone, in a couple or as a family, our holidays will stretch the imagination: a decadent spa escape, an island-hopping journey of discovery or the quest for the most glamorous destinations. No detail is too small, no challenge too big for a team whose first-hand local insights assure Carrier guests the very best of everything. The destination is only the start. The experience is exclusive to Carrier.

T
inged with celebrity and artisan chic, this small speck in the shimmering Caribbean displays a sophisticated soul, its dazzling stretches of star-studded coastline providing the ultimate escape. This is where the smart set parties throughout the winter and returns in summer with the family to relax…the coral sands, swaying palms and tempting waters only part of the appeal. Delicious Bajan food makes an exhilarating introduction to the West Indian way of life – a host of internationally acclaimed restaurants delivering unforgettable epicurean delights. Sip rum punch to the sound of the waves lapping the shore or join in an impromptu cricket match with the locals on the beach – the legendary warmth of the islanders is infectious. The island is famed, too, for its fabulous villas and stylish apartments – set in idyllic beach locations or alongside fine championship golf courses. Tucked away amidst vibrant tropical foliage, a unique collection of high end hotels lines the aptly-named Platinum coast. Just a short plane ride across turquoise waters lie the Grenadines. Everything here is blissfully stress and fuss free. Encircled by a glorious reef, the unspoilt tropical green hills and secluded white sands invite gentle relaxation. On impossibly glamorous Mustique several homes of the rich and famous are available for hire, whilst tiny Palm Island offers escapism at its purest. Charter a catamaran to glide through the cerulean seas around Canouan and swim with the turtles in the crystal clear waters of the palm-fringed Tobago Cays. Picnic on a sandbar feasting on lobster before returning to shore to sip sundowners to the sounds of sweet calypso jazz.

The Cotton House, Mustique A celebrated hotel with an impossibly glamorous image and an equally impressive guest list. In reality, however, The Cotton House is simply an exquisite retreat set in beautifully manicured grounds on an island tailor-made for relaxation. Originally an eighteenth century sugar mill, the coral and stone estate has been creatively restored. The rooms and suites, many with private plunge pools, are romantically furnished, with king size beds and first-class amenities which include air conditioning, minibars, flat screen TVs, DVD/CD players and private terraces or balconies from which to enjoy the island and ocean views. The two bedroom Cotton Hill Residence is an exclusive hideaway, with a large private pool, panoramic hilltop views, and its own butler and dedicated staff. Nine deserted beaches invite leisurely exploration, horseriding, tennis and day sails are readily available and the spa is on hand for serious pampering. Light lunches are served at the Beach Café, whilst cocktails in the Great Room are followed by mouth-watering dinners on the veranda. 16 rooms and suites, 1 villa. 40 minute flight from Barbados, followed by a 5 minute transfer by road.

Antigua, Nevis and The British Virgin Islands
F
lying in above the isles, the baroque towers of St John’s Cathedral welcome the visitor to colourful and convivial Antigua. Every street seems to have a lively market…the friendly locals always ready with encouragement to try delicious indigenous fruits such as papaya, mango and pineapple. There is spice in the air – not just from the famous goat stew with hot peppers, cloves and cinnamon – but in the exuberant approach to life. The island pulsates with steel band celebrations. On Sundays, street parties at Shirley Heights are a riot of rum, beach barbecues and dancing until the early hours. And after the fun, return to a sumptuous hideaway set on a dazzling beach of powder-white sand that melts into the myriad blues of the Caribbean Sea. Take to the air for the short hop to Nevis. Dominated by dramatic Nevis Peak, the island combines charm and tranquillity, its plantation houses, churches and conical sugar mills evoking a proud colonial past. The pace of life is deliciously slow and sleepy, the verdant landscape undeveloped and delightfully unspoiled. Just seven miles long, this tiny sombrero-shaped island plays host to some of nature’s finest treasures, from hiking trails through lush rain forest to the magnificent floral displays of the Botanical Gardens. Time almost stands still in Georgian Charlestown with its weathered colonial houses and elaborate gingerbread shutters. The buzz of the British Virgin Islands soon takes hold. Floating in a blue-green world of their own like precious emerald drops, the islands hide a handful of world-class hotels set on spellbinding beaches, some accessible only by boat or helicopter. Indulge in a little independent island hopping, mooring in some of the many deserted coves before diving into an underwater show of brightly coloured tropical fish and fascinating crustaceans.

St Lucia, Grenada and Tobago
S
t Lucia conjures up vivid images of banana plantations, steamy sulphurous springs and volcanic plugs rising majestically from the sea. Everywhere, the pretty villages buzz with delight, the colourful marketplaces infused by French, African, Caribbean and English ethnicity. This is a place for tropical adventures; adrenaline-charged rides through thick, verdant rainforests or superlative dives escorted home by schools of dolphins. Relish a sunset horseback ride and moonlight dinner on the beach or a dramatic helicopter ride over the Pitons. In Gros Islet the lively street parties celebrate the catch of the day where the sound of steel bands penetrates the warm evening air. Breathe in the sweet scents of nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger on the spice island of Grenada – its coastline sprinkled with fine beaches and countless secluded coves. Read a good book whilst communing with resident geckos and emerald-throated hummingbirds, or watch giant turtles laying eggs by moonlight. Pass a day in the charming capital, St George’s – graced with Georgian buildings and pastel-hued creole houses it is without doubt one of the most picturesque spots in the Caribbean. Inland the forests and waterfalls of the Grand Étang National Park invite discovery, a riot of colourful, tropical birds and tiny lizards where rare orchids punctuate the dense vegetation. After the explorations, a chance to refuel on corn soup, chicken and rice; feasting on shrimp, lobster and jerk marlin. Tobago, too, is full of Caribbean flair, the slightest whiff of steel drum harmonics turning sleepy villages into open air dance floors, the revellers dancing until morning light. It is a back-to-nature paradise with the oldest protected rainforest in the western hemisphere, home to over two thousand flowering plants, six hundred species of butterflies and four hundred types of birds. Pigeon Point, near the protected marine park of Buccoo Reef, entrances with its white powder sand beach backed by almond trees and coconut palms – the jetty stretching far into the sea.

Jade Mountain
A romantic hideaway overlooking the Pitons with the philosophy that little should stand between its guests and Mother Nature. Treehouse-style rooms are either landscaped into the hillside or set down near the beach; their louvred windows, local woods and colourful cottons creating a restful island ambience. The deliberate absence of in-room radios or TVs ensures the outside world is kept at bay. In the evenings savour tropical world cuisine by candlelight at the Treehouse Restaurant or modern Indian flavours at beachfront Apsara. The reef-protected bay is perfect for diving and snorkelling, whilst other recreations include a spa, hiking, yoga and mountain biking.
An astonishing collection of ultra-luxurious sanctuaries crafted into the hillside from stone, concrete, steel and wood. Beyond impossibly tall doors reached via a network of walkways, each Infinity Pool Sanctuary is unique in its size, design and handcrafted furnishings. Sweeping spaces flow seamlessly into one another, a shimmering infinity pool beckons and an open ‘wall’ allows spectacular views across to the Pitons – views that may also be enjoyed from the open-plan bathroom with its rain shower and elevated whirlpool bath. By night the subtle, coloured lighting creates an ethereal look. Dine at the Jade Mountain Club, a relaxing lounge with an ornamental pool and rooftop terrace.

Jamaica
R
eggae, Rastafarians and rum. It’s an intoxicating mix, on an island with more than its fair share of soul. An inspiration to Noel Coward, Bob Marley and Ian Fleming, Jamaica exudes tropical charm. Explore the lush, natural paradise by jeep to discover heart-stopping views of the Blue Mountains as the early morning mist clears. Pause to watch the iridescent hummingbirds flit from flower to flower…the air redolent with the sweet almond scent of frangipani. Find sustenance at roadside shacks, savouring jerk pork, curry goat and salt fish, before a blissful afternoon gently rafting along the Martha Brae river on 30-feet of bamboo. Linger awhile in vivid villages where the islanders dress up each Sunday, the children literally scrubbed clean, gospel pouring out of the churches. Surround yourself in the steamy, tropical extravagance of Shaw Park Gardens; slip and slide down the Dunns River Falls with their rich foliage of bamboos, ginger lilies and breadfruit trees. At Negril, watch divers plunge fearlessly from the cliffs into spectacular blue seas, or rush through the rainforest canopy on an exhilarating zip-wire. In Jamaica, every day begins with the possibility of something new. Watersports, horse-riding, first class spas and championship golf…life is good in this sun-drenched, soulful isle.

Anguilla and St Barths
A
dark stripe of ocean out on the horizon, glimpsed from the air before descending down the blue spectrum, through sapphire, cobalt and azure to diamond clear water. Anguilla’s shore exudes a deliciously languid vibe with its startling white sands and exquisite turquoise and aquamarine sea. There are secret coves ideal for picnics and romantic rendezvous, and glass-bottomed boats for visiting the colourful, teeming reefs. Start the day watching the windsurfers at beautiful Barnes Bay, or sail out to Scilly Cay to sunbathe or snorkel. Equally alluring is the prospect of high-end dining in some of the island’s one hundred or more excellent restaurants – ‘the cuisine capital of the Caribbean’ more than justifying its reputation. Golfers will delight in the challenges of the golf course whilst nature lovers can spot birds, bats and tree lizards at Cavannagh Cave. Charter a plane for the short hop over to St Barths, a tiny, chic hub with an inspiring and friendly vibe. A jet set, cosmopolitan crowd bestows an atmosphere of casual sophistication, beautifully drenched in a profusion of French flavour. It is the place to be and be seen…the deluxe liners anchored in abundance in Gustavia Harbour, the scents of sugar, spices and bougainvillaea flowers drifting on the air as shoppers explore a galaxy of boutiques. Yet despite the glamour and designer lifestyle there are still charming fishing villages to discover like Corossol, and pretty little towns such as Lorient. A hired jeep is a good way to get around – the roads winding and steep with scenic surprises around every bend.

The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos
H
undreds of miniature islands and miles of warm, crystalline Caribbean Sea. The Bahamas is a mesh of dreamy creams and sparkling blues – a place of escapism and relaxation. Island hopping is a way of life...each sandy outpost in the shallow waters having its own distinct identity From the family-focused activities of Paradise Island to the remoteness and tranquillity of Harbour Island, where golf carts are the preferred mode of transport and clapboard houses dot picturesque Dunmore Town. Stroll along the sugar soft pink sands, dive into an astonishingly colourful underwater world, or pause to try your hand at bone fishing in the unblemished waters. In the enchanting enclave of the Turks & Caicos, gleaming white yachts drift at anchor in the pristine bays. On these lavish and unspoilt cays, where perfect white sands fuse with the warm turquoise waters, celebrity sightings are a minor sport. It’s a heady mix of high-end Caribbean chic and seclusion, an easy place to blend in with the relaxed and fashionable crowd. Take to the water to gaze on vibrant coral reefs, or hire a kayak to explore the labyrinth of mangrove channels that thread these spellbinding islands. Cast off for Middle Caicos to explore the dramatic caves at Conch Bar, and experience the thrill of viewing humpback whales off the coast during their migration. This is the Caribbean at its most serene and blissful.

Mexico
M
exico is an assault on the senses. Exuberant, colourful and dripping with natural wonders, yet accessorised by just enough chic to entice the most decadent of tastes. Mexico is a wild child in Mother Nature’s capable hands: bustling streets, mysterious jungle and unblemished beaches. On the Yucatan Peninsula, the porcelain white sands of the Riviera Maya are bathed in sun and lapped by a sapphire sea, whilst inland exploration reveals a landscape peppered with sacred cenotes filled with sweet, fresh water. At Chichen Itza, Tulum and Xcaret, mystical Mayan remains evoke a legendary past, whilst Playa del Carmen – once a simple fishing village – buzzes with colourful boutiques, busy restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Dive and snorkel on the huge reef that lies just offshore, the shallow waters on its landward side teeming with fish and irresistibly warm and welcoming. The same can be said of Mexico’s people, always ready with a smile and encouragement to try the traditional Temazcal steam bath. Mural-adorned cantinas serve up their firebrand cuisine of tacos, fajitas, rich mole sauces and spicy salsas, accompanied by ice-cold margaritas. A country crammed with desert landscapes, white-washed sands and hidden haciendas where lively mariachi bands provide the soundtrack to the whole sensual feast. For a further collection of our hotels throughout Mexico please see our North America & Mexico brochure or visit www.carrier.co.uk.

set deep in the heart of the Yucatan and nestled in lush tropical landscapes is a collection of Mexico’s famed haciendas, offering guests a taste of traditional Mayan hospitality in an exclusive environment. The surrounding area with its wealth of archaeological sites and colonial towns invites exploration and a self-drive holiday is an ideal choice, though a private car and driver can also be arranged. Your rental car will be delivered to the hacienda. (B). Day 3 | Drive to Chichen Itza to explore the incredible remains of the Mayan city, one of the seven new wonders of the modern world. Continue onto Ik’kil or Dzitnup if time permits for a cooling dip in one of the many cenotes or underground lakes for which the Yucatan is famous. (B). Day 4 | Journey west for a two night stay at Hacienda Santa Rosa, a small hacienda with the welcoming ambience of a private home. There is a botanical garden and pool within the grounds. (B). General InformatIon 109
General Information
tHe BroCHUre We take every reasonable step to ensure the accuracy of our brochure and are confident that all information is correct at the time of going to print. However, during the validity of the brochure certain hotel facilities or services may change and clients will be advised of these prior to departure, wherever possible. Should such an event occur during your holiday, however, our experienced local agents will do their best to rectify the situation. If the problem is still not solved to your satisfaction, we suggest you telephone our offices in england on 0161 491 7620 and reverse the charges. We will do our very best to help you. PaSSPortS, VISaS & VaCCInatIonS a 10 year British passport, valid for 6 months after your return to the UK, is required to visit all destinations featured in this brochure. It is now compulsory for children to have their own passports, unless already included on their parents’ passport. non-British passport holders should check entry requirements with the country they intend to visit. When travelling to or in transit through the USa under the Visa Waiver Programme, all British passport holders, including children, require their own machine-readable passports (mrP). anyone without an mrP will need a visa to travel to the USa. the US government requires that all passports issued on or after 26 october 2006 include biometric data. anyone travelling to the USa under the Visa Waiver Programme must apply for an electronic System for travel authorisation (eSta) prior to their journey, and no later than 72 hours before departure. this form is available online and a fee of US$14 per person will apply. Please visit http://esta.cbp.dhs.gov for further information. there are currently no compulsory vaccination requirements. However, medical advice does change from time to time and we would recommend that you seek professional advice. the International medical Centre advises all worldwide travellers to ensure that their tetanus, polio, typhoid and hepatitis ‘a’ jabs are up-to-date. Contact the n.H.S. Direct Information Service, tel: 0845 4647 or maSta Health line on 09068 224100. Please note that rules do change occasionally, so all clients are responsible for ensuring they conform to passport, visa and vaccination requirements. CUrrenCY It is strongly recommended that you take your spending money in the form of U.S. dollar travellers cheques, although we do suggest you always carry some local currency in small denominations – details on these are given in the directory. Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels and in shops and most hotels on check-in will take a credit card imprint to cover the cost of any extras. HIGH anD loW SeaSon the traditional ‘high season’ falls between December and april and the ‘low season’ between may and november – a pattern largely created because of the enormous appeal of Caribbean sunshine during the european and american winters. During the high season, airline seats and hotel rooms are at a premium, Christmas and february being particularly busy. During the summer months, the islands do tend to be a little quieter and hotels
do sometimes close down some facilities or reduce their entertainment programmes. Should refurbishments be taking place, we will, of course, advise you of any works known to us at the time of your enquiry. the hurricane season normally runs from June to november. oUr HotelS the hotels featured throughout this brochure are widely acknowledged as the finest available in the Caribbean and mexico – we hope we have described them well, but please do not hesitate to contact us should you require more specific information. room facilities do vary from hotel to hotel and it is worth taking note of the following points. Some hotel rooms, in order to maintain their natural ambience, do not have air conditioning and they are cooled by ceiling fans or sea breezes. Whilst all of our rooms boast en suite bathrooms, some only have showers rather than bathtubs. Beds vary between twins, queen-size and king-size and it is worth letting us know in advance should you have any special requests. the dress code in most of our hotels in the evenings is elegant casual. In a few cases men may be required to wear summer jackets in the evenings; more formal attire may be required for gala events such as Christmas or new Year’s eve. CHeCK-In anD CHeCK-oUt Hotel rooms are usually available from 3pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 12 noon on the day of departure. Should there be no incoming guests, hotels do often allow you to keep your room until later in the day – please check with the front office on the day of your departure. Should this not be possible, a day-room is usually provided where you can change, sometimes at an additional charge. oUr aIrlIneS all of our holidays are based upon the economy class service of scheduled airlines. Should you wish to upgrade to the airline’s equivalent of Business or first Class, we do offer some excellent savings and an indication of the supplements is given next to the hotel prices. We strongly recommend that you check in early if you have particular seat requests. Carrier has no control over the allocation of seats and even if they are pre-booked with the airline, no guarantee can be made that they will still be available on check-in. Baggage allowances vary according to the destination, flight and class booked, but if your holiday includes travel by smaller inter-island aircraft, it is often necessary to travel light. In such cases, luggage may be restricted and charges may be made for additional bags – please enquire at time of booking. reduced fares are available from most UK regional airports to london. Please note that all featured airlines now operate a total smoking ban on their flights to the Caribbean and mexico. PaSSenGerS WItH reDUCeD moBIlItY Current legislation requires that you advise us at least 48 hours prior to departure if you will require assistance at the airport. Car HIre as many of our Caribbean islands are small, hiring a car can be a great way to explore. Please note that local
licences are required for rentals on Barbados, antigua, St lucia, Grenada, nevis and anguilla – these may be purchased from your car hire representative locally and cost between US$5-US$20. HealtH & SafetY We have always felt safe and comfortable when visiting the Caribbean and in such a friendly environment, it is tempting to adopt a rather casual attitude with regards to money and valuables. However, like anywhere in the world, sensible precautions should always be taken. Please use safety deposit boxes whenever possible and ensure doors and windows are locked when you leave your hotel room. try not to carry too much cash with you, particularly when on the beach or in town and avoid dark streets and isolated beaches. With regards to health, we highly recommend you take out travel insurance when visiting the Caribbean, as medical costs are high. Insects, such as the occasional beetle and cockroach, may be seen but these are usually kept well under control by the hotels. mosquitoes are more common, however, and repellents and burning coils should be used to prevent their bites. always heed local advice and warnings when it comes to weather conditions. In very hot weather, ensure you drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Great care should also be taken when sunbathing, particularly during the first few days and where children are concerned. our reservations staff have access to the latest foreign office advice. SPeCIal reQUeStS We pride ourselves on offering our clients a personalised service and will make every effort to meet any of your special dietary, room or travel requests. If these are a particularly important factor in the choice of your holiday, it is essential they are put in writing at the time of booking. In the unlikely event there is non-compliance, please note we do not hold any legal liability to you whatsoever. YoUr oPInIon Your individual comments are vital if we are to successfully monitor the hotels and services we offer. after your holiday, we would be most grateful if you would return the questionnaire included with your travel documents. We guarantee that all views and opinions are read and acted upon where necessary. We want you to travel with Carrier the next time you are considering a holiday. Data ProteCtIon Statement We have measures in place to protect the personal booking information held by us. this information will be passed on to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements and it will sometimes be necessary to pass your details to other organisations. We may also have to send your details to countries that may not have an equal level of data protection legislation. When you request these products and services, you give your consent that we can pass your details to other organisations. We plan arrangements a long time in advance of your holiday using independent suppliers such as airlines, hotels etc., over whom we have no direct control. On occasions changes do have to be made, and we reserve the right to make these. Most of these changes are minor. However, if we consider them a significant change we will endeavour to advise you or your Travel Agent as soon as reasonably possible. A significant change includes a change of accommodation to that of a lower category and/or price, a change of flight time of more than 12 hours, a change of UK departure airport, or a significant change of resort area. In accordance with EU regulations we are required to advise you of the actual air carrier operating your flight/connecting flight/transfer. We do this by listing carriers to be used or likely to be used on the relevant brochure pages and/ or your holiday confirmation invoice. Any changes to the actual airline after you have received your tickets will be notified to you as soon as possible and in all cases at check-in or at the boarding gate. Such a change is deemed to be a minor change. In the case of a significant change before your departure we will provide you with three alternatives: (a) alternative travel arrangements of equivalent or of very closely similar standard and price, if available. (b) alternative travel arrangements of a lower standard together

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES If the contract we have with you is not performed or is improperly performed by us or our suppliers we will pay you appropriate compensation if this has affected the enjoyment of your travel arrangements. However we will not be liable where any failure in the performance of the contract is due to: you; or a third party unconnected with the provision of the travel arrangements and where the failure is unforeseeable or unavoidable; or unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised; or an event which we or our suppliers, even with all due care, could not foresee or forestall. Our liability, except in cases involving death, injury or illness, shall be limited to a maximum of two times your travel arrangements. Our liability will also be limited in accordance with and/or in an identical manner to (a) The contractual terms of the companies that provide the transportation for your travel arrangements. These terms are incorporated into this contract; and (b) Any relevant international convention, for example the Montreal Convention in respect of travel by air, the Athens Convention in respect of travel by sea, the Berne Convention in respect of travel by rail and the Paris Convention in respect of the provision of accommodation, which limit the amount of compensation that you can claim for death, injury, delay to passengers and loss, damage and delay to luggage. You are responsible to arrive at stated departure times and places and any loss or damage which you suffer through failure to do so lies with you. The Company has no liability whatsoever to you through your failure to do so. The Foreign & Commonwealth Advice Unit may have issued information about your holiday destination. Full details of these rights will be published at EU airports and will also be available from airlines. However reimbursement in such cases will not automatically entitle you to a refund of your holiday cost from us. Your right to a refund and/or compensation from us is set out in clause 7. If any payments are due to you from us, any payment made to you by the airline will be deducted from this amount. 10. AIRlInE/AIRpoRT DElAYs We use the scheduled services of the world’s major international airlines. These are rarely subject to lengthy delays. In the unlikely event that this does happen, arrangements for meals, overnight accommodation, etc. should be met by your airline. Conditions of carriage are available on request. In the event of a flight being delayed, we will arrange for the following to be provided, whenever practical, and subject to the airport being able to cater for this:- over 4 hours, an appropriate meal, and for delays of at least 8 hours extending beyond midnight, overnight accommodation will be provided wherever possible. However, this will depend on such factors as the expected length of delay, local availability of accommodation, immigration rulings etc. Where long flight delays result in lost holiday time, no refunds are given by hotels for unused accommodation, as rooms are held for delayed arrivals, not re-let. Under EU law you may be entitled in some circumstances to refunds and/or compensation from your airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Full details of these rights may be published at EU airports and will also be available from airlines. However re-imbursement in such cases will not automatically entitle you to a full refund of your holiday from us. If any payments to you are due from us, any payment made by the airline will be deducted from this amount. If your airline does not comply, you should complain to the Air Transport users Council on 020 7240 6061 www.aug/org.uk 11. If the problem cannot be resolved locally and you wish to complain, full details must be received in writing to: Customer Relations Department, Carrier ltd, no.1 lakeside, Cheadle, Cheshire, sK8 3GW within 28 days of return. should we be unable to resolve your complaint amicably, the matter may (if the client so wishes) be referred to Arbitration under a special scheme which, though devised by arrangement with ABTA, is administered quite independently by the IDRs part of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The scheme provides a simple and inexpensive method of Arbitrations on documents alone with restricted liability on the customer in respect of costs. The scheme applies to claims for an amount no greater than £5,000 per person or £25,000 per booking. 12. ConsUMER pRoTECTIon We provide full financial protection. WATER AnD ElECTRICITY sUpplIEs In many of the less sophisticated destinations we feature, the water and electricity services struggle to keep up with the increased demands from tourism. limited rainfall can put further pressure on their provision. Hotels do everything possible to maintain full services. However, occasional power cuts and/or water restrictions may be experienced. 21. ACCoMMoDATIon In THE TRopICs In many hotels, especially beach resorts ‘insects’ in the rooms (e.g.. cockroaches etc) are almost inevitable. It should by no means be taken as a sign of dirtiness, simply a fact of life in these destinations. views from some hotel rooms may be partly obscured by palm trees and other vegetation that can grow very quickly in tropical climates. 22. WATER spoRTs AnD oTHER ACTIvITIEs Many hotels offer water sports and other sporting activities, in some cases these may be free of charge. please note that in the interest of your personal safety, the operators of these activities may require that you demonstrate your competence (for example a swimming test) prior to commencement and reserve the right to refuse participation for any reason if they feel this may compromise your or another guest’s safety. 23. BEHAvIoUR Most people go on holiday for rest and relaxation, so if in our reasonable opinion or in the opinion of any airline pilot, hotel manager, tour leader or other person in authority, your behaviour is causing danger, damage to property or persistently affecting the enjoyment of others, we reserve the right to terminate your holiday. should this happen no refund or compensation would be paid.
18. BUIlDInG WoRK Many hotels and resorts are continuing to develop, sometimes rapidly and intensively and often with little or no advance warning. General refurbishment at hotels is necessary to maintain standards but if we are informed of such work, we will endeavour to notify you of any activity as soon as possible, however near to your departure this may be.
