We are working our way through the winter months, and it can’t be over soon enough for me. Even though we have not had a terrible winter so far, I just am not the winter type. I’ll take 90 and sunny any day over the cold and drab winter days. We have begun to get things organized for the “Historic Route 66 Bike Night” that will be happening again this year on Weds nights at Bobby’s Place in Valley Park starting in April. We are working on new things going on there this year with some drink giveaways and special events throughout the summer that we will tell you more about as we get closer to the spring. We are confident this is the place you’ll want to be every Weds night for the best weekly bike night in town. Watch for more details soon and check out the “Historic Route 66 Bike Night” Facebook page to stay informed. I look forward to seeing you there. Also we are discussing having a new vendor for the 2022 season. If you have a related product to our industry and would like to discuss being the new vendor, please email me a contact number and lets talk about it. Email publisher@ fullthrottle-magazine.com. The St Louis Auto show was last weekend and did not have the St Louis Motorcycle Show this year. We reached out to the shows promoter to find out if the Motorcycle Show is no longer a part of the show or if this year was just how it was handles. Unfortunately, we did not get a response from them to know if the St Louis Motorcycle show is no longer part of their show. We will keep you posted if we can get a solid answer. Be sure to watch and “LIKE” our Facebook page to see the events and rides that are happening each week. We work hard to try and keep our site up to date with the rides, events and fun that’s going on. Check our Crusin’ Calendar in the magazine for a list of events and happenings also. As always, my friends ride safe, and we will see you on the road with Full Throttle Magazine. Bob

Why The 2nd Amendment Shou
"
A well-regulated Militia, being
necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Words that are more prevalent today than any other time in our history. Some say that when our founding fathers wrote The Constitution and created The Bill of Rights, they intended for the 2nd Amendment to be number two on the list for a reason. History has proven that this right has allowed us to maintain the freedoms we have. And this should be important for all US citizens. Maybe you question this? Or you don’t feel the second amendment is detrimental in our country? Take a look at some other countries around the world that have put a ban on civilians owning firearms. Take a look at other countries around the world who have banned guns and removed them from their citizens. Venezuela banned the sale of guns in 2012. Fast forward to today, Venezuela is a mess. They are a Socialist, Tyrannical country. The government is violating and removing liberties such as free speech, devaluing its national currency, seizing privately owned properties and creating economic destruction that has destroyed the country. They claim to have banned guns to limit their crime rate. But think if your government came to your home and told you they needed it and were taking it and you couldn't do anything about it! Page 10

uld Be Important To YOU! Australia put in place a strict gun control program between 1996-2007 that started with banning semi-automatic guns and evolved into banning certain calibers, barrel lengths, & magazine capacities. They claimed this was to lower their homicide and crime rate. Canada is now doing this as well. Nazi Germany banned guns and look at the results. Most feel that this allowed for the Holocaust to take place. If guns were not banned, people could have fought back, saving millions of lives. It wouldn’t have been so simple for Hitler and the Nazi’s to do what they did if all of those civilians were armed and could protect themselves, their family’s and neighbors. How many times in history do we need to see the effects of people forfeiting their rights and then seeing how their worlds can be turned upside down. There is a reason that this has not happened in the United States and that is because pro 2A Americans stick to their guns (pun intended) and will not give up this right. There are many Americans that fight the government and politicians daily so we can keep our 2nd amendment rights. Certain states are pushing their limits to see what they can get away with. States like California, New York, & Illinois. All of which have the strictest gun laws in the country. If you look up the news in these states, you will see so many reports of shootings, homicides, armed robbery’s etc taking place throughout many cities within those states. It is horrible to see what is happening. People are www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com
Page 11
leaving these state in huge numbers. You might think, how can't that be? These states have the most stringent gun laws, they shouldn’t have gun crimes, right? Guess what? Criminals don’t care about your gun laws. Criminals are not going to surrender their guns and abide by those strict laws put in place. They see this as an opportunity to commit more crimes against innocent civilians because they are not armed and are not prepared to defend themselves. Disarming law abiding citizens makes it that much easier for the criminals, to be criminals. Having the 2nd Amendment and right to bear arms allows for not only an even playing field but also helps to keep bad people in check. Another attempt to restrict our rights is the claim that the 2nd Amendment wasn’t intended for modern AR-15’s, and other more modern firearms. That it was intended for the muskets that fit the time period of when The Constitution was written. IF that was true then let's pose the question. If the 1st Amendment applies to radio, TV, and the internet.....and the 4th Amendment covers electronic wiretapping and video surveillance, how can the 2nd Amendment only apply to 18th century firearms? And when it was written all the people with power only had muskets and cannons. So it was allowing the citizens to have the same firepower as the people in power. Just like it should be today. There are plenty of examples throughout history and occurrences in other countries and yet we find ourselves fighting for our own rights and our own lives. Page 12

In the midst of a pandemic people all across the United States are recognizing this and acting on it. Gun and ammo sales in 2020 and 2021 were higher than ever. They quadrupled average gun sales for the few year's prior. People are recognizing that they will be the first line of defense if a problem would arise. They realized if something bad were to happen you only have seconds to respond. We are now, more than ever, in a fight for our rights and in a fight for our freedoms. The 2nd Amendment was written not for us to protect ourselves fromother countries, that is the military's job. The part of the 2nd Amendment which includes “being necessary to the security of a free State” was intended for us to defend and protect ourselves from our OWN government. Keep up the fight and don’t surrender any of your rights, especially your right to bear arms.

HANDL
How’s it going Full Throttle readers! I hope everyone is enjoying
the new year and the bikes are nice and tucked in for this cold weather were going to be having the next couple months. If you’re in the middle of a build your probably in the same boat I am and that’s sitting around waiting on parts to come in. I’ve been running the same handlebars on my bike for about 2 years now and that’s going to be one of my major changes this off season. When I was going over my options and figuring out what I wanted to run this next year I took a couple things into consideration. And that’s what I want to touch on in this month’s article, as new handlebars are usually everyone’s first upgrade on their new Harley Davidson. So Let’s get right into it. One of the first things most people think about with new handlebars is the look. As Harley Davidson riders we have a persona and look to uphold, so it makes sense that we want the bars to look a certain way on our bikes. But looks don’t always mean comfort and improved handling. A couple things go into choosing the right set of bars and that’s the height, width and pull back of the bars. Let touch on what those 3 mean. Height is pretty self-explanatory, it’s the overall height of the handlebars. Width is the distance from one end of the hand grips to the other and pull back is the range of motion from the top of the bar coming back towards the rider. The more pull back you have on a set of bars the more angle your hand position will be. I’m going to go over a couple of my favorite style bars with you all. The first set is the infamous LA Choppers Twin Peaks. These bars are a very simple and clean look for any motorcycle. The twin peaks come in a variety of sizes and finishes from chrome, gloss black and the extremely popular stainless steel. The Twin peaks have a width of 33 ½ inches wide a boast a 5 ¼ inches of pull back. This is just enough to give you a nice comfortable hand position and allow you to also ride aggressively in the corners. The elegant 90-degree angle at the top of the bars is just enough to give the bike a subtle yet aggressive look. The LA Choppers Twin Peaks are available for all application of motorcycles. The next set of bars is for the riders who like the mean look of the spiked bars and those are the Paul Yaffe Monkey Bars. In my opinion these are the bars you should go with if you own a road glide or a bike with the shark nose fairing. The subtle bend these bars offer give them the perfect lines to complement the fairing lines and give the bike that mean look. The Yaffe Monkey bars come in 2 finishes, black and chrome. The width on these bars very with the height. The width ranges from 32 inches to 37 inches and the pull back is 8inches. These bars have a comfortable hand position for the cruising type but still allow the rider to get down in the corners. Page 16

The next couple sets of bars I want to talk about are in the ever-growing trend of performance riding and that’s T-Bars and Riser with Moto bars set ups! These are the set ups for rider that likes to get aggressive in the corners. These set ups usually boast a width of 30 inches or less and have a pullback of 4-5 inches at most. There are a lot of options out there right now for these types of bar set ups as they are taking the industry by storm right now, some of my favorite risers out right now are Thrashin Supply, LA Choppers and @mymachinist. All of these specific risers are available in multiple sizes, finishes and in the straight or pull back options. For the skeptical riders out there, that aren’t sure if they would like these set ups on their bikes, I challenge you to give it a chance. I only went over a few handlebar types in this article and there are definitely more options out there. Not all handlebars work the same for everyone so the bars I like might not be for you as a rider, but I guarantee I can find you a set that will fit your riding style and needs. I always tell my customers that want new handlebars but aren’t sure what they are looking for, to go look at motorcycle’s with bars on them. It’s the easiest way to see if you’re going to like the bars or not. If you see a bike at a dealership with a set of aftermarket bars on it, sit on the bike and get a feel for the bars. The biggest thing in testing a set of bars is making sure they aren’t too wide. To wide of bars can lead to being uncomfortable in low speed maneuvers and that’s not something we want. So that’s going to wrap up this article. I just wanted to touch on a couple models of bars, there is a lot of info on bar fitment to rider and so on that I can go over in another article or you can reach out to me personally and I would be more then happy to go over all of that with anyone. I want to thank you all again for taking the time to read this article, I’m having a lot of fun writing them and introducing you guys to some cool trends and parts that are coming to market, so I hope you all are enjoying reading them. If there is a topic you would like me to write about, please shoot me an email at Keigan@ stcharlesharleydavidson.com and I will see what I can put together. With that being said, if you guys have any questions on my build or your current build please don’t hesitate to reach out to me out St. Charles Harley Davidson (636-946-6487) If you have time, come by the shop and check out some of the builds we have going on right now. Thanks again everyone and enjoy the ride! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

A R i d e A D a y Ke e p s Riding your motorcycle is a convenient and fun way to get around town, but
did you know that there are health benefits as well? Riding a bike won’t replace the need for proper diet and exercise, but you might be surprised by some of the ways it can help you relax, practice focus, and even help with some muscles you might not normally use. We’ve gathered some of the most notable health benefits below. When you ride a motorcycle, your brain engages differently than it does while driving a car. When you drive a car, your brain tends to be much more passive. It’s not long before highway hypnosis takes over and suddenly you realize that you’ve been driving for several minutes, but you can’t recall the last stretch of the street you just passed by. You use your hands to steer, but your body remains fairly still. The only time your brain really becomes engaged is when you’re reacting to a safety issue, such as an animal coming into your path or sudden braking by a motorist. Riding a motorcycle is an entirely different experience. Your brain becomes much more engaged and focused as you’re facing more obstacles as you ride. You drive around much larger vehicles, and obstacle such as potholes, which are more threatening to your bike. You’ll be actively scanning the roads more often as the hazards affect you more. Undoubtedly, your brain gets an intense workout as you ride. While a more active brain isn’t going to directly benefit your mental health, it does relate to the release of feel-good chemicals, like adrenaline and endorphins. The fun of riding a motorcycle can improve your mood drastically and you’ll generally feel more positive. These effects tend to last long after you finish your motorcycle ride. Additionally, you might be able to reduce negative emotions, like stress. Stress Page 20

s T h e D o c t o r A wa y ! can damage every major system in your body from your nervous system to your digestive system. Plenty of research studies show that stress is a leading factor for most doctors and hospital visits. Cruising down the highway on your motorcycle is a great stress-reliever, which helps keep those negative health effects at bay. Let’s not forget that hitting the road on your bike also exposes you to sunshine, so you’re sure to soak up some vitamin D in the process. Riding a motorcycle can actually be quite the workout. Whether you’re on a big adventure bike, or something smaller, riding a bike will make you sweat. Whenever you ride a bike, you engage your entire body. You’re not really putting a strain on your muscles like you’re going to the gym, but you are working out your core, balance, neck, knees, thighs, and burning calories at the same time—more so if you’re more technical on the bike. To cap it off, being into motorcycles and engaging with the community can benefit your social life. Find a riding group and travel hundreds of miles in a day just to get breakfast and a cup of coffee on a fine weekend morning. Hobbies are infectious, and others are likely as crazy as you when it comes to motorcycles. Sometimes, like mental health, we forget that social health is equally as important. Humans are social beings, and bikes are only one of the topics that can come up during a pre-ride or post-ride. Perhaps look into purchasing a communication system, join in on the conversation during the ride, sit down for breakfast, and be back home before lunchtime. Motorcycles are so much more than the two-wheeled death traps that most people make them out to be. Keep your wits about you all the time, know the dangers, train your brain.
