CARE FOR YOUR RIDE
As Harley-Davidson riders, we have high expectations in the quality of our rides. We want to
be able to hop on our motorcycles and not have a care in the world. That being said, we should always use high quality products to make sure our rides are ready to go. Oil is the lifeblood of your engine. Oil has multiple purposes for our engines. Not only does it lubricate the moving components of our engines; it also cools down our engines and cleans the byproducts left by combustion. Oil also has to live in a very harsh, hot environment so only the proper products will suffice. Harley-Davidsons complete line of lubricants are formulated specifically to keep your motorcycle running strong, mile after mile. Harley-Davidsons SYN3 full Synthetic Motorcycle Lubricant is definitely a recommended product. It’s developed specifically to provide maximum performance and protection in Harley-Davidsons powertrains. SYN3 offers superior wear protection at higher temperatures. It also keeps engines, transmissions and primary chaincases cleaner. SYN3 also meets the anti-wear lubricity requirements of all transmission gears. You should use Harley-Davidsons oil in your Harley because no one tests as much as they do. “We accumulate millions of testing miles on our engines and drive trains, using only H-D Oil. We test in the harshest environments – Testing is performed in the extreme heat of the desert. We test under the most rigorous duty cycles – accelerated durability testing helps explore the limits of our designs, in less time. This is a worst-case scenario for oil. We run thousands of hours on dynos. We test in the laboratory – sampling and analyzing oil to determine its life and effectiveness during use. H-D’s additive package is the best available. It’s the most robust, it was created exclusively for H-D powertrains, and we are the only ones who have it.” Oil isn’t the only way we take care of our rides. Not only do we expect them to perform the best, but look the best as well. Harley-Davidson offers a wide selection of products to help you maintain that beautiful look. Are you more focused on riding rather than cleaning? Or maybe you just don’t have a lot of time on your hands to clean your Harley. Quick Wash is the perfect product for you. It’s fast and easy to use. You simply spray Quick CONTINUE ON PAGE 5

Our country is in quite a panic mode at this moment. There seems to be many opinions whether the media and government have overreacted or if all of the things happening are necessary to protect us, the citizens of this country. I find one thing very disturbing and that is the people who have ran and bought up everything they could buy leaving supplies short for many people who need these items also. Elderly people may not have the means to rush out and buy supplies and now they are left without. The other fact that disturbs me is these same people who bought up everything are selling these items on the internet at super high prices. I understand we all must look out for ourselves and our family but, have some respect and caring for others as well. Ask an elderly person you know if they have the supplies they need to get buy and let’s show the world that all of us bikers do help others in times of need. Bikers are the most giving people I have ever been associated with and I’m proud to say I have seen our group of riders give to many, many people in need. Let’s all put on our giving hat and help take care of those who maybe need some extra help. With all that’s going on in the world Historic Route 66 Bike Night at Bobby’s Place in Valley Park will start a little late this year on Weds, April 15th. If for any reason we are unable to start Bike night on that date, we will keep you posted on our Facebook site. With all that being said, we are looking forward to a fun season this year. I’m certainly ready to get back into nice weather and seeing everyone back out and riding. We are working with the folks at Bobby’s Place to have some new and fun events on Bike Night along with live entertainment outside again this year. Mark your calendars; Mid America Harley Davidson will be having their Spring Bike Bash on April 18th. Another fun event there will be the last Sunday of every month The Great Parking Lot Swap Meet. Be sure to check them out for great deals and fun events. Lake Ozark Harley will have their 1st Annual Ozark Rides Rally on Saturday, May 2nd with Vendors, Guided Rides and lots of great food and drinks. It’s going to be a great time so plan to stop in and enjoy the fun. April 24th and 25th will be the Am Vets annual MudBug Poker Run and Crawfish festival. And we can’t forget TJ Bar and Grill is having their 27th Anniversary Celebration May 2nd. As always, my friends ride safe and we will see you on the road with Full Throttle Magazine. Bob
Wash on and hose it off. It’s safe to use on all the surfaces of your motorcycle. After you wash it of course you’re going to need to dry it off. Harley-Davidson offers you a few products to help you out with that. The Synthetic Drying Chamois is made of synthetic material that is safe for use on all surface finishes. This ensures extra absorbency without steaking. It’s also Machine washable! If you don’t want to wipe down your whole bike after you wash it the HOG Blaster Motorcycle Dryer is a great alternative for you. It’s a powerful dryer that blows a stream of warm, dry, filtered air at 18,000 feet a minute. This allows you to avoid those pesky water spots from hard to reach areas of the bike. After washing your bike it’s time to detail it even further. The Harley-Davidson Gloss Detailer is a great option for those of you with a gloss finish on your bike. Simply spray the product on the area you need to detail further and wipe it off with a microfiber towel. You can also detail your vinyl, plastic, windshields and chrome with this great product. Those of you with a denim finish have no fear! You can detail your Denim paint with Harley-Davidson’s Denim Paint Cleaner. Denim Paint Cleaner was specifically formulated for denim paint. It won’t streak or leave residue behind. It’s time to get those bikes out and ready to ride! Come on in to Doc’s Harley-Davidson today to check out even more great products to care for your ride.

"Mungenast Make
he Mungenast Motorsports story started in 1965, when Dave Mungenast, Sr resigned his position as store manager of Bob Schultz Motorcycles and became an entrepreneur and opened his own motorcycle dealership named St. Louis Honda. St. Louis Honda was located at 6820 Gravois road in South St. Louis. The dealership remained for 10 years at that location, selling several different brands of motorcycles besides just Honda, including the popular English Triumph, Swedish made Husqvarna, and Austrian made Penton. In 1975, Dave had the tremendous opportunity to become a Honda Automobile dealer. He soon constructed a new agency on South Lindbergh Boulevard. This dealership was unique in the sense that it was one of few dealerships selling both Honda Motorcycles and Automobiles. The dealership was extremely successful, winning numerous manufacturers awards in both Automotive and Motorsport product lines. With an ever-growing customer base and larger quantities of product becoming available, Mungenast constructed another motorcycle-only building in 1985 at 5935 S. Lindbergh Blvd. The Mungenast family has a long history and legacy in the motorcycle and powersports industry. That legacy continues today by offering their customers a complete line of Honda, Polaris Slingshot, and Husqvarna motorcycle products. In 2012 they decided to renovate the building. It now showcases a large amount of new Honda inventory, Indian Motorcycles, Polaris Slingshots, the electric GEM cars, and Husqvarna motorcycles. Some of the new Honda inventory includes Honda Motorcycles, Scooters, ATVs, a full line of Power Equipment, Generators, Lawn Mowers and other Equipment. They also stock a large variety of pre-owned inventory at affordable pricing. And of great importance is a full service and parts departments. Mungenast is proud of its team of factory trained technicians and parts personnel. This is where Mungenast really makes the difference. Page 20

The event and ride will host a complimentary breakfast, giveaways, music and an awesome scenic ride. You can register for it now on their website or register the day of the event. All the proceeds from this event will go to Backstoppers. Another fun date to mark on your calendar is May 5th and 6th when the Indian Demo Truck will be at the dealership offering demo rides on nearly every new Indian model in there line up. You will have the chance to see and test ride the entire Indian lineup. That means you will get the chance to see and ride the exciting new 2020 Indian Challenger! "Winter
How's it going Full Throttle readers? Zach White here to give
you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. I hope everyone was able to get out to ride on the nice Sundays we had in March. The Spring showers have washed the salt off the road. Temps are starting to get warmer, and it feels good to see day light into the evening. Hopefully you kept your bike on a battery tender so it is ready for spring. Make sure to check those tires before you get out and enjoy some wind therapy. This month at the Dealership we are ready to move past the Coronavirus talk and get back to what we all love, Motorcycles! Let's all try to make it the best we can with what we are being dealt. We'd love for you to come in and check out our brand new Customer Lounge. Big thanks to all the members of the St. Charles H.O.G. that helped to make this awesome change to the dealership! Come in to say hi, have a coffee, eat some popcorn and enjoy the new Customer Lounge. I want to thank everyone that made it to the Seminars I put on in January and February. It was a winter of education and I hope you took something from it. If you would like to have a one-onone meeting about any of the topics I covered, please give me a call or send me an email. In the meantime, here is an overview of what was covered. January started off with a Performance Seminar, which is one of my favorites. Who doesn’t want more power and bragging rights with friends? I talked about what Harley-Davidson has in store for us, and then they released the big 128 ci and 131 ci kits for the Milwaukee Eights. How big can they go? We also talked about some of the aftermarket world and the performance-based products they have to offer. I went over the difference from Stage I-V and everything in between. We also had our Master & Dyno Tech, Dave, explain why it makes a huge difference once you fine tune your motorcycle. I know a lot of you took advantage of that discussion, and couldn’t believe the difference a tuned bike makes. The middle of January we had our Audio & Sound Seminar. We talked about the difference between Harley-Davidson’s Boom! II and some of the leading aftermarket brands. I explained what made certain kits better than others, and why. If you want to get the heads turning at a bike night, or enjoy crystal-clear sound going down the road at 70mph, we have a kit for you. Page 24

Seminars" The end of January brought the STL Motorcycle and Auto Show. What a great turn out and hope everyone got to check out the latest and greatest in the Motorsports world. At the bike show we held LiveWire Seminars each day. It brought a crowd every time we fired it up on our Jump Start. I really enjoyed showing it off to all the EV enthusiasts. February was the last month of winter seminars. I started the month off with a very popular one that everyone learns something new from. The topic was Tires and Suspension. They go hand in hand with each other. We talked about the newest tires on the market and the advantages of each one. Then came suspension, and what I consider one of the biggest performance changes you can make to your motorcycle. I’m still a huge fan of Legend Suspension. I know first hand how AMAZING they perform. I’ve never had a customer tell me they weren’t pleased with the investment they made after upgrading to that suspension. I always try to end the seminar season with something new. I was able to go to Texas and Kentucky to get educated on what’s the latest and greatest in the aftermarket world. I used that information to hold a seminar on New Product. This year we went all out and brought in two of the top reps in the Aftermarket world. I started the seminar off with talking about Harley's newest products. Then I chatted about a few new products from each of the Aftermarket Expo's I went to. After that, Marshall from L.A. Choppers talked about their newest product! Marshall let everyone know why they are a top pick for handlebars, covering the ins & outs of what makes them the best. Last, we had Kyle from Custom Dynamics talk about some of the awesome new LED's they have. One big thing that really puts them on top of the LED game is their Lifetime Warranty! THE FABULOUS '57

T
he beautiful black ’57 Chevy you see here was nothing more than a gigantic basket case when it was delivered to Tony’s Rod and Custom. The car had been at another place of business where the quality and safety of work to the car was being compromised. The owner, Ed Niemier had seen enough and brought it back home. Through conversation with some of his friends, he heard about Tony’s and had to check it out. After his visit, he knew he had found the right place. The car and all of its parts were delivered, so the restoration process could begin. Even though new floor pan patch panels were installed, the welding was very poor and dirty, so no penetration was achieved. Therefore welds popped loose and safety concerns arose. A “bird cage”, as we like to call it, was installed to keep the body square along with the door openings while the floor was being cut out. New floors and braces were installed correctly and the body was removed from the chassis to be put on a roto unit. This makes working on the body so much easier than lying on your back and having all of the debris falling in your face. The remaining floor sections along with the trunk area were trued up and welded. The spare tire well was removed and a filler plate was made, and then welded in place. With the foundation now secure and square, it was time to tackle the exterior. The body and loose panels were media blasted to get everything clean and start from square one. New inner/outer rocker panels were installed along with lower quarter panel patch pieces. Once the fab work on the body was completed, it was then covered in Martin Senour 5190 Poly Primer to protect from corrosion. With the body well on its way, it was time to tackle the chassis. After removing all the front and rear suspension pieces and drive train, it was just a bare frame waiting to be blasted. The frame was also put onto a roto unit for ease of work. After the blasting was completed all unnecessary bracketry and rusted areas from years gone by were removed, then prepped for primer. New polyurethane bushings were used for both front and rear suspension along with motor/trans mounts as well. A new Danny Miller prepped Ford 9” rear end with Daytona pinion and 3.73 Detroit Locker gear set up is sure to keep the rubber to the road. The frame and suspension pieces were then sprayed with Martin Senour Sebring silver single stage urethane for a very durable finish. Now, that the chassis was being re-assembled, it was time to set the 383 ci/425 hp Chevy crate motor in place backed up with a Tremec 5 sp for a smooth shifting, low RPM driving experience. The Tremec is engaged by a

Centerforce clutch/pressure plate kit along with a custom built hydraulic clutch pedal assembly versus the old rod/linkage setup. A Denny’s polished aluminum driveshaft finishes out the drive train. With the body still off, it was easier for Tony’s to build the one off polished stainless steel Borla exhaust system with handmade aluminum exhaust hangers and ceramic coated Sanderson headers. With all of the go fast goodies installed, Wilwood 4 piston brakes were called upon to bring this Chevy to a halt. Custom stainless steel brake and fuel lines were also made. American Racing “Hopster” wheels, 17x7 front and 18x8 rear shod with BFG G-Force Comp 2 225/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear rounds out the rolling chassis. The underside and inside floor was then covered in Lizard Skin to aid in rust prevention and then sprayed with M-S black single stage urethane to help keep it clean. The body was then positioned back on the chassis for final bodywork and panel fit. Once completed, the body and dash were prepped and sprayed with the same black. Many hours of blocksanding and buffing went into the finish you see in the photos. With the majority of exterior work done, it was time to focus on the interior. The owner wanted the look of an original interior, but with some of the modern conveniences, such as power steering, power windows and A/C. Tony’s dad helped with recovering the bench and rear seats with the classic silver/black paisley print along with the black leather and carpet trunk interior. An Ididit tilt column hooked to a GM 605 power steering box is topped off with a LeCarra Mark 10 steering wheel painted black with a polished aluminum center section. A Vintage Air Surefit A/C setup helps keep the cab cool on those hot summer nights. Dynamat was used throughout the whole cab and roof as a sound deadening material to keep the noise outside the car, not in! Autoloc window crank switches give the interior a clean nostalgic look while activating the windows up and down. A Classic Autosound remote C/D player keeps the look of the 50’s, but with modern sound enhancements. Now, Elvis sounds even better. An American Autowire Classic update wiring harness provides all the power and safety for all the electrical upgrades. A custom remote power cut off switch keeps the Redtop Optima battery at bay when you are at shows or a night out on the town and you don’t want the valet test driving your car. Lokar pedals finish off the interior. The engine bay received the smooth firewall, custom hood hinge pockets made into the inner fender panels and a custom radiator cover. A BeCool radiator helps keep the motor cool when it’s roaring down the road. All wiring is well tucked away for that sanitary look. With the ’57 coming down the home stretch to completion, all of the stainless trim was repaired, sanded and polished to a mirror finish. Steele Rubber products were used throughout the whole car to keep Mother Nature from creeping back in. All of these different segments work together to make the overall project, a total success. This was one of the coolest cars to drive. It has the power, sound and most definitely the looks to keep heads turning. God Bless!!! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com
