Your Bike, Your Style. We each have our own way for doing things, our own style. Our Bikes are an extension of ourselves and will
reflect that style. Some of us like to keep things nice and simple. Some like things to pop and shine. HarleyDavidson offers a wide variety of customizations that you’re able to add to your bike. Anything from your Timer Cover to your Air Clean Cover, even your Rocker Box Covers! The Kahuna collection is brand new for 2019. This collection is gorgeous, elegant, yet uncomplicated. The collection is offered in both a rich gloss black and a mirror-like chrome. The hand and foot controls are surrounded by a sturdy black rubber that will provide you the grip and traction you’ll need. This is truly one collection that you need to see. This collection is recognizable by the bold red Bar & Shield logo on the Rider Hand Grips and Footboards, as well as the engine trim pieces. The Defiance collection is anything but traditional. The Defiance Engine Trim collection incorporate a unique forward-thrusting design that blends a retro art-deco streamliner look with a modern contemporary twist. The contemporary H-D logo featured on many of the collection’s pieces is sure to catch your eye. Designed side by side with the original equipment components, these exquisitely engineered cast and billet parts are machined to fit the bike perfectly. The Defiance collection is offered in three beautiful finishes: chrome, gloss black or machine cut black. One part of a motorcycle not often thought of as a design piece but more of a comfort piece is the seat. Harley-Davidon offers a variety of seats with many purposes and designs. Maybe you want to roll around town solo, and you want to sleek down the look of your bike. The Brawler Solo Seat might just be the solution you’ve been looking for. Made from cowhide leather, the seat features a smooth, sleek design that hugs the frame rails for a true custom look. The Brawler seats design places the rider in the bike for a low-slung riding position. The topgrain leather seating surface and contoured foam padding provide a firm but luxurious feel.
Want a low-profile seat that accommodates two-up riding? The Leather Badlander Seat is a great option.

Is the rain ever going to stop? Not sure about the rest of you but I’m so tired of rain. It’s Nice that at the end of July my grass isn’t burnt up but that’s about the only nice thing about the rain still coming. I’m really hoping that August brings us some dry weather and we can get on with the Bike Nights and other events without getting rained out or rained on. This has to be one of the rainiest years I can remember in a long time. Sorry, had to vent about that.
August is one of my favorite months because one of my favorite events happens, “Sturgis”. I’m sure many of you are packing up and getting ready to ride to South Dakota Page 17: Crack Up’s for the Biggest and most attended rally in the country. Page: 24-25: Around Town If you’re a first time traveler to Sturgis, you’re going to Page: 28-29: “Livewire” The Suspense is be amazed at the number of bikes and astounded at the beauty of the countryside. South Dakota has some fabulous FINALLY Over! places to ride and I love the scenery there. I never get tired of the riding, the scenery or the feeling of brotherhood Page 34: Gaslight Garage that is always part of the Sturgis event. For those of you Page: 36-37 Evolution of the traveling to Sturgis, we say Ride Safe and enjoy the fun Motorcycle and Enthusiast and excitement of the event and we will share our stories Why Are Motorcycles on Almost when we all return home.

because many hotels are sold out. Bikefest dates are Wednesday September 11th through Sunday September 15th. There are many fun things to do at Bikefest and there are some fabulous back roads throughout the Ozarks to ride. This year promises to be the Biggest Bikefest ever. Remember to buy a Passport Book and enjoy the ride and stops from it and best of all, someone who purchases a Passport Book could be the lucky winner of a New Harley Davidson Motorcycle on Sunday the 15th. Full Throttle Magazine is proud to be the Exclusive Motorcycle Magazine sponsor of Bikefest as well as the sponsor of the Passport Ride. Mark your calendars for August 9th & 10th and be sure to attend the Route 66 Festival in Springfield Missouri. This is a HUGE event that has live bands, Vendors, car show, bike show and so much more to do. This event always brings in huge crowds and never fails to provide a great time to everyone who attends. Hope to see all of you there this year. As always, ride safe my friends and see you on the road with Full Throttle Magazine. Bob
This seat sets the stage for your minimalist custom ride. The framehugging rider portion of the seat coupled with the slim tapered passenger portion visually stretch the bike and enhance the slammed look. The seat shape stays low along its entire length and follows the lines of the bike with minimal disruption and delivers a riding position that is lower and generally further back than the stock seat. This seat can be beneficial for both short and tall riders. With its low profile it brings shorter riders closer to the ground. With taller riders the seat allows you to sit further back without having to be raised up. Handlebars are another great way to customize the look of your bike. The Chizeled Handlebars from Harley-Davidson make a statement. They feature the edgy profile of the classic Z bar and combine the handsup feel of a mini-ape with the narrow width of a drag bar. These combined styles result in a classic chopper attitude. You also might like the 16” Far Ape Handlebars. This beefy 16” fat ape handlebar is shaped to give even the tallest rider the hands in the air riding position. The bar features a flatter hand position that positions your wrists in a neutral position for long ride comfort. Come on in to Doc’s Harley-Davidson today to see one of our awesome Customization Specialists and let us help you make your bike YOURS.

“LIVEWIRE” The How’s it going Full Throttle readers? Zach White here to give you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. Hope your summer is going good and you’re putting miles on your two-wheeled machine. The spring and summer made for a really wet start of the year but as the temperature rises, the roads are drying. Remember to stay hydrated and always keep your head on a swivel. Make sure those tires are aired up to the correct PSI as the temperatures go up and down. Bike night will be 8/1 with entertainment from Clint Ewing, factory KTM Freestyle Sportbike Rider. The annual Harley-Davidson Dealer Meeting is 8/19-22 and it will be a good one with all the new things in the Harley world plus its the 50th anniversary of dealer meetings. Following the dealer meeting we will have the Harley-Davidson Demo Truck here 8/23-24. So come and test ride one of the all new 2020 Harley-Davidson’s. Can’t wait to see you all at the dealership. This month I want to touch on some of the latest info out on Harley’s New “LiveWire” electric motorcycle. As I mentioned earlier this year we got the notification that we would be a LiveWire Dealer. Then came the BIG announcement last month that we will be the “ONLY” HarleyDavidson dealership in the St. Louis area. The closest dealerships will be Kansas City, Nashville, Chicago & Louisville! This was some great news and even more excitement to know we have the only Master Technician that is LiveWire Certified. With the release coming later this month we are getting excited here at the dealership. We have been getting everything ready for the first one to make its presence. We are already getting lots of attention and deposits on the first ones to make it to the shop. All our staff are taking the required classes to help educate all of you. We are getting the electric ran as I’m writing this so come in the next few weeks leading up to the first delivery and check out the progress. We can’t wait to be a part of the newest line of Harley-Davidson motorcycles with all of you. I sat down with our LiveWire Master Technician, Mike Bellamy, to discuss what his thoughts are on the LiveWire after he returned from Milwaukee after his training classes. I asked him “How was your test ride at your training class?” He said, “All I know is, if anyone is thinking of purchasing one, all they have to do is test ride it and they will be sold instantly!” He went on to say, “It has a sport bike feel without the laid down posture to go with it.” Then came the question “How fast was it?” His answered, “I looked down and was doing 60, then I twisted the throttle and looked down and was over 80 in the blink of an eye. The torque was constant and the cornering was out of this world. Me, not being a sport bike rider, I felt very comfortable in my riding ability!” He went on to say, “This bike is for all riders from beginners, to the most experienced. As your confidence grows, the bike grows with you!” I can’t

Suspense is FINALLY over! wait to get on one and test ride it for myself to feel what Mike is talking about. Now, let’s go over some of the latest updates that have been brought to our attention. The battery life in the city is est. 146 miles and 95 combined highway & stop and go. This is more then the initial announcement which is always a plus. Also on the 24KW DC fast charging station you can expect a full charge in just 1 hr with 80% charge in just 40 mins. When you twist the throttle be ready for an instant 86 ft lbs of non stop torque on top of the 105 horsepower. This power gets you from 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds and from 60-80 mph in just 1.9 seconds. As Mike said, “In just a blink of an eye.” The top speed is est. at 110 mph which shouldn’t take you long to make it to that speed. The H-D Revelation permanent-magnet electric motor is powered by a 15.5 kw high voltage battery. It comes with a 5 yr unlimited mile warranty. Just like the AGM battery now, with a 1 yr warranty, as long as you properly maintain it you should see a lot more life. It does have scheduled maintenance procedures like the current Harley-Davidson which start at 1,000 miles. We will have a 24 kw dc fast charge charging station in the front of the building. So pull right up and plug your LiveWire in, then come and chat with your favorite Harley-Davidson team while it charges up and gets you back on the open road. Another feature that really caught my attention was the Anti-Wheelie & Stoppie control. So when you twist the throttle or slam on the brakes you know you will have total confidence ahead of you. LiveWire also comes pre programmed with four modes. Sport, road, range & rain. This gives you complete control of your riding ability. Once you get the feel for this you can also make an additional three custom modes for your liking. So with seven modes your riding style is almost endless. Another awesome feature is LTE Data Connection. This will give you many features available on your smart phone. You will be able to see how long until your LiveWire is completely charged. As well as a bike location so you always know if anyone is getting to close to your baby. Also it will give you the ability to find the closest charging station. It has so many awesome features right in the palm of your hand. The LiveWire gives you the perfect combination of power, performance and technology. It will give you a riding experience you have never had before. Come in and chat with Mike, Sandy or myself and let us educate you even more. Thanks again for taking the time to read this. If you come to St. Charles Harley-Davidson, be sure to ask for me, Zach White. If you’d like to set up a consultation, you can contact me by phone (636-946-6487) or email (zach@stcharlesharleydavidson.com). I’m here to make all of your Harley-Davidson dreams come true. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

efore we can dive into the understanding of the motorcycle enthusiast, we need to have a greater understanding of how this exhilarating machine came to be. Now, most everyone has a base understanding of the motorcycle and some of the history. But do you know how far back the history goes? Oh, some of you will say 1901 for Indian Motorcycles and 1903 for Harley Davidson. These two companies did indeed put the motorcycle industry on the map, no question. Let me digress just a bit; traveling back in time to Michelangelo. Some would say that it all began with him, the true inventor of the bicycle. He did not actually construct the bicycle, but merely put brush to paper, drawing a body, wheels, pedals and a chain. That was it. No handle bars or steering column. What this did was cause the minds of inventors to churn. In 1791, There’s Comte de Sirvac, inventor of the ‘Hobby Horse”; consisting of two wheels, a body and a steering bar; no pedals or chain. It was more of a conversation piece with no real functionality. Inventor after inventor came closer and closer to perfecting the “Bicycle”. In 1860, a blacksmith in Paris, Pierre Michaux, own the first company to construct a bicycle with pedals call the Velocipede. The first motorcycle can be traced back as far as 1867 when Pierre’s son Ernest Michaux fitted a small steam engine to one the “Velocipedes”. Moving forward in 1868, an American, Sylvester H. Roper of Roxbury Massachusetts, developed a twin cylinder steam velocipede, with a coal fired boiler between the wheels. In 1881, Lucius Copeland of Phoenix, Arizona designed a much smaller steam boiler which could drive the large rear wheel of an American Star high-wheeler at 12 mph. In 1887 the first successful ‘moto-cycle’ was produced.
“Did you know that the first commercial design for a self-propelled bicycle was a threewheeler called the Butler Petrol Cycle?” In 1885, German inventor, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach worked with Nicolaus Otto, an engineer who in 1876 developed the “four-stroke combustible engine”. Daimler took the idea of Sylvester H. Roper’s Velocipede and added Nicolaus Otto’s engine and hence came to be the first true adaptation of a gas powered “Motorcycle”, better known as “Motor Bicycle” Through the course of time, there were many inventors and companies that saw this self-propelled bicycle as the future. In 1901, the first motorcycle with a 239 cc engine was created. In 1902 the bicycle maker “Triumph” decided to extend its focus to include motorcycles. A year later they became the largest manufacturer with an annual production of over 500 units. Other firms were Norton and Birmingham Small Arms Company began motorbike production in 1902 and 1910, respectively. Also in 1901, the Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company was founded, producing over

20,000 bikes per year. In 1903, William Harley, Walter Davidson and Arthur Davidson started the American company Harley-Davidson and by 1920 they were largest manufacturer with their motorcycles being sold by dealers in 67 countries. Through the decades more and more motorcycle companies came to be; BMW, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha to name a few. Let’s rush forward to the 21st century. There are choppers, street rods, cruisers, small bikes, large bikes, bikes that are quiet, bikes that are Very Loud, and my personal favorite….”The Trike”. So here begs the real question. Why is this two or three wheeled form of transportation on everyone’s bucket list? People want to own one or at the very least ride one. Several years ago my aunt voiced that she really wanted to ride on the back of a motorcycle. So my husband and I went and picked her up. She got on the back of his bike with him and we took her for a quick 15 minute ride. When we got back to her house, she was grinning from ear to ear. She said that she can check that off her list of things that she has always wanted to do. What is so fascinating with this machine? Is it because it’s un-inhibiting, a sense of freedom, an adrenaline rush? I would say yes and much more. It’s the feeling of exhilaration, the wind racing past you. When you are racing down the highway are 60, 70 or 80 mph and then you come to a stop, how your skin is tingly, the hairs on your body are standing on end. Your senses are heightened; everything from your reflex actions to your sense of sound and even smells. In the springtime, when the trees and flowers are in full bloom, take a ride and smell how the honeysuckle is so sweet in the air. You can never experience that traveling in a car. Or in the middle of a beautiful Summer day when you are riding down a curvy road and you come upon a glorious canopy of trees that shelters you from the hot sun and how the shade gives off a cool breeze. There is nothing to obstruct your views of Gods landscaping. Why would you not want to experience this? There are some that associate motorcycle riders as being Bad Ass. Some are and some aren’t. The one common thread that we all have is the love of the open road. There is a certain camaraderie between bikers. Now, not to say that some bikers want to have it out with other bikers, that’s just the nature of the beast. But, I would like to stay positive in all this. Most bikers will come together for a greater cause, such as local and national charities alike. What I think is the best part about being a motorcycle enthusiast sums it up in two words…”THE RIDE”. So the next time you decide to take “A RIDE” and you pass your fellow biker, remember to extend your hand add a wave saying, “Yeah, I know what’s on your mind”. Remember to Live Free, Ride Hard and always be safe. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

“NOMAD”
any of you know I have a weakness for a ’57 Chevy, actually a weakness for all cool cars but, a real soft spot for the ’57. The 1957 Chevrolet had so many body options to choose from, including the very popular Bel Air. Let me give you a quick run down of the very difficult choice Chevy had you make in 1957. You had your Convertible, a Sport Coupe, a Sport Sedan (also known as a 4-door hard top), a 4-door Sedan, a 2-door Sedan, a Townsman 4-door Station Wagon and the Bel Air Nomad Station Wagon. To think, this was just the Bel Air choices and I did not even mention the 210 and the 150 series. There were so many more to choose from; but let’s just focus on what you are seeing here as one of my all time favorites. The very rare, yet truly amazing 1957 Bel Air NOMAD. This Beautiful specimen is owned and built by Ron Feldman, a great guy who is willing to share his car and stories with you. When I first met Ron, I was blown away on how nice his 1957 Bel Air Nomad truly was. But when he started telling me his future plans for what he was getting ready to do to his Nomad, I thought he was nuts. He may be nuts but he has the talent to back it up. Since that time he has refinished the interior, including the dash and the instrument panel. He ran across some difficult challenges Page 40

to bring it to the OEM styling including finding all of the hard to find trim pieces for the fold down rear seat. Which, by the way, is still great for going to the Drive-In and backing in to watch the movies from the rear of the car; that still is one of his favorite options. This past winter he meticulously refurbished the complete engine bay including rebuilding the engine. The engine is now putting out a whole 300HP. With a TURBO 350 transmission sending the power to the 3:70 gears in the rear pumpkin. That may not be a lot of power but, when you look this cool, you don’t have to fly; you just look like you do with the world recognized rear fins and the hood rockets. I’d say, take your time and look for something he missed. I guarantee, it will be very difficult to find something but if you do, I’m pretty sure Ron knows about it and it is in the works. To make his Nomad even more enjoyable to drive and to share with all ages who loves his ’57, he has added the Power 605 steering box, BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires 215/60 R15 in the front and the rear are 235/60 R15 all mounted on later model Rally Wheels. Ron has owned this Nomad for 3 years and it took him 2 years to do the restoration. He also stated that this car was his first ’57 Chevy 2 door wagon as he was born in 1957. Ron admitted he had to send the car off for paint and body work but the guys at Show Me Auto Body did a great job with the PPG Matador Red and the Asia White. More future plans call for a better exhaust and sway bars. I’m sure they will be top notch to match the rest of his build. Ron would like to thank his life long friend, Mann. His “Nomad Guru”- Terry Hardy, Tom Smith, Keith Flood and naturally his Mother for all of their unconditional help. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com
