KEEP THE RIDE GOING W
ell, it appears it’s that time of the year again. “What time is that?”, you may be asking. It’s time for the best riding weather of the year! Unfortunately, there may be some people telling you it’s time to put your bike away and start getting ready to store it for the winter. Those people are dangerous and should be avoided at all cost.
We all LOVE to ride, so why should we let a little cold front ruin our fun? We shouldn’t. There are tons of options for you to remain comfortable while riding in this kind of weather. One option available to help you remain nice and warm are heated grips. Heated Grips are a great way to “keep comfortable on those cool mornings or frigid night rides.” Coupled with a pair of good gloves your hands are sure to remain warm and toasty. The Heated Hand Grips from Harley-Davidson are easily controlled by a simple twist of a knob at the end of the left grip. There are multiple settings for you to play with to find that perfect temperature for you. Be careful though, these things can get HOT. The great thing about these Heated Grips as well is the ability to completely turn them off, so you won’t have to worry about getting too hot when that warm weather rolls back around. You also won’t have to worry about sacrificing style for the heated grips as Harley-Davidson offers them in many different collections. The grips are offered in the Following Collections: Airflow in both chrome and gloss black, Kahuna is both chrome and gloss black, Contoured, Willie G Skull in chrome and black, and chrome and rubber. They also offer them in Streamliner. For those of you who would like to keep a stock look you are also able to get the grips in black rubber. Another fantastic option to help keep that cold weather at bay is heated seats. The Sun Ray Heated Seat is one great option. “This second-generation heated seat features dual-zone heated rider and passenger positions with separate high/low/off toggle controls for personal comfort selection. The one-piece seat with integrated heat pad and control system is simple to install and the heating element is switch on/off with the ignition to avoid draining the battery. The smooth styling complements any Touring model.” You’re also still able to use your optional rider CONTINUE ON PAGE 5

Fall is officially on us and the weather has already been making some cooler days. I have to admit that cool weather is not my thing. I’m a spring and summer guy. Warm weather is what makes my day. Bike nights are officially over now that we are coming into November and most bike events will also start to be coming to an end. This year was a great year for Historical Route 66 Bike Night. We had great crowds and good time at Bobby’s Place in Valley Park on Weds nights. We will be trying to look at how we can improve next year’s Bike Nights so if you have a suggestion send me an email so we can take it into consideration. Lake of the Ozark Bikefest was a HUGE success this year and the final numbers show over 100,000 bikes and about 140,000 people attended this year’s Bikefest. Plans are already underway for Bikefest 2020 and the dates are Wednesday, September 16 through Sunday, September 20,2020. It’s never to early to start planning your trip and book those room reservations to be sure you have the best rate. Everyone associated with Bikefest 2019 wants to thank each and everyone who rode, drove or walked to this year’s event. All the businesses at the Lake open their doors to all of us bikers and thank all of you who made the ride to the Lake and making this event such a HUGE success. Things are starting to happen for the Annual 2020 Auto and Motorcycle show at the Downtown St Louis America’s Center and Dome. This event is stacking up to be the largest and best annual show ever. Show dates are January 23rd through January 26th. There will be dealers, vendors and a host of things to do while attending the show, so mark your calendars and plan to attend. Full Throttle Magazine is teaming up Bobby’s Place in Valley Park again this year on Saturday, December 07 to host a Toy Drive for the kids in our town who wouldn’t have a great Christmas without all of us helping them out. We are asking that you please mark your calendars for December 07 and plan to bring a toy of any kind or stop by and make a cash donation so that we can help these less fortunate kids have a great holiday. Please, Please help us make this day a HUGE Success. We are counting on all of you. As always, ride safe my friends and see you o the road with Full Throttle Magazine. Bob
backrest if you have one. If you’re wanting the ultimate comfort with a seat but still want the heat, have no fears as Harley-Davidson offers the Harley Hammock Seat with dual-zone Heated rider and passenger seating Areas. With this seat the only reason you’ll need to get off the bike is to refuel. With its broad seating surface and shallow bucket shape to distribute weight and reduce pressure points you’ll feel like you’re riding on a cloud. You might even want to consider a different windshield to help block that frigid air from blasting you head on. A correctly sized windshield could make all the difference. Of course, Full-Face Helmets are a popular piece of riding gear for the colder months and we have you covered here at Doc’s with many styles and options to accommodate your style and comfort preferences. Need a new pair of gloves to keep your hands warm as well? We’ve got plenty of gloves that will keep you nice and toasty and they come in a variety of styles. Whatever your needs are for this upcoming weather come on down to Doc’s HarleyDavidson and we’ll help you keep the ride going!

Two immigrants from Africa arrive in the United States and are discussing the difference between their country and the U.S. One of them mentions he's heard that people in the U.S. eat dogs, and if they're going to fit in, they better eat dogs as well. So they head to the nearest hot dog stand and order two 'dogs.' The first guy unwraps his, looks at it, and nervously looks at his friend. "Which part did you get?" www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

Chic Chat Special Edition Beauty and Stength of Women W
ell Hello Ladies, I’m back just for a moment to bring you this special edition of Chic Chat. I know that it’s being a minute since we spoke last, so I wanted to pop in to let you know I haven’t forgot about you. It November now! And the Holiday Season is nipping at our heels. Pretty soon our holiday lights go up and all the hustle and bustle of all the shopping malls are going crazy. The real reason I thought I would pop in to say hello was to show you a piece I wrote several years ago. Over the last several years, I have gotten to know two beautiful ladies that I now call my best friends. They both have gone through some life struggles and faced them down head on with grace, strength, beauty and dignity. Thinking about them reminded me of this piece that I wanted to share with you. To help remind you that “We” as women can be strong and beautiful as the same time. We have the capability to face adversity head on. It fight for what we believe in. So, we are women right? What do “Women” talk about? think about? Worry about? Life, families, kids, careers, what’s troubling us and even our significant others. Women can relate to women. There is this certain connection that we have with each other; a confidant perhaps. There are things that a person of the opposite sex just won’t understand or at the very least can’t relate to. A women’s mind is a deep cavern of twists and turns; that anyone dare to enter, is doing so at their own risk. We are complex individuals that can be unpredictable and predictable, strong and soft all at once. From a very young age we were taught to be a lady; to walk and talk like a lady. My Mother, for example, was taught by her mother to always be a lady. She always had to be in a little dress; never getting dirty. She always had to be prim and proper. Afterall, that’s what “Men” wanted! It was almost as if my grandmother was playing dress up with a doll.
This is not how it is anymore. I pretty much say “Ah, HELL NO”! “You can capture a man by your outer beauty. You keep a man by your inner strength.” C.Blanton That might be okay for the exterior, but what about the interior? How do you teach a young girl that you need not only the beauty and poise on the outside, but the strength and beauty on the inside? My mother did not learn this until she was an adult. And she still struggled with that every day of her life. One thing that she did, was vow that her own daughter will not know that same struggle. She taught me how to be poised in the outside and how to be strong on the inside. When teaching someone to be strong, it comes from allowing them to fall. Now, don’t get me wrong, my mother didn’t just throw me to the wolves and tell me to be strong and fight. She merely allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them. When you are faced with adversities, you have to make a conscious choice. You can either crumble and fall or figure out a way to overcome it. Eleanor Roosevelt said it best – “A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” Another favorite quote is by Author Nancy Rathburn – “A strong woman understands that the gifts such as logic, decisiveness, and strength are just as feminine as intuition and emotional connection. She values and uses all of her gifts.” “The strength of a women; let it never go underestimated!” C.Blanton I saw a post on Facebook that my daughter shared. “Don’t fake it till you make it. That’s garbage advice. Face it till you make it. Get up. Work Hard. Fail. Stand back up. Face it again. Do a little better. Fail again. Get back up. Repeat”. This pertain to everyone, not just us women. Be strong, face life with grace, dignity, wisdom and beauty. And remember the stronger and more beautiful you are on the inside, the more beautiful and strong you will become on the outside.

How's it going Full Throttle readers? Zach White here to give
you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. With Fall in full effect and the leafs changing, be sure to watch the ground as they fall and the roads get covered. Also make sure to check that tire pressure as the temperatures start to drop. Hope you all are enjoying this cooler weather and some of the best riding in our area. This month is the change from the warm to the colder riding weather. With that being said I will be hosting at the dealership on November 23rd @ 10am the Cold Riding Seminar. Give me or Sandy a call to RSVP. Towards the end of the month with Thanksgiving a little later this year, will be our annual Black Friday event on 11/29. This day will also have Santa making a stop in for some family pictures from 1-4. On 11/30 Santa will be back at the shop for pictures from 11-2 and this will continue every Saturday leading up to Christmas. As most of you know Big St. Charles Motorsports had a fire back in July. The teams have been working hard to get everything back in full swing without missing a day of business. Yes it has been crowded but we have all worked to make the best out of the situation for each of you. We appreciate your business and understanding with all the change we have had to make over the past few months. With that being said we have light at the end of the tunnel. We are setting up a BIG heated tent out in the parking lot and keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to start moving Motorsports & Indian into the Big St. Charles Motorsports building by the first of December. Thanks again as we make everything even Bigger and Better for all of you. This month I want to feature a build we did for our showroom floor. We started off with a 2020 Billiard Burgundy Road King Special. This bike from the factory already looks great. From the front you see the blacked out front forks and Nacelle. Moving back the engine covers are blacked out with just a touch of Chrome on the lower rocker spacer. Page 26

Prodigy"
The heart of the motorcycle is beating with a 114" Milwaukee-Eight engine that is sure to get you from point A to B in no time. Then comes the rear with stretched saddlebags. It really makes for the start of one great machine. As we all know though nothing can stay left alone. So with that being said we wanted to add a few of our own personnel touches and was waiting for the first to arrive. Once it did we put it on one of our Master Tech's lift. Kyle swapped the wheels to the Bronze Prodigy wheels. These wheels the first time I seen then caught my eye and I couldn't wait to get the Bronze ones on a bike. With a 19" front and 18" rear wheel it really make a stance in this already good looking Harley-Davidson. We wanted to give this Road King Special an aggressive riding style to go with these wheels. With that in mind one of my favorite bars for this is the New LA Choppers Kage Fighters. The bar gives you that west coast performance bagger stance and feel. It's a trend that's slowly moving to the mid-west. To help accent the bronze wheels and the aggressive bars we installed the all New bronze Dominion HarleyDavidson grips. When I took this bike out to snap some pics I couldn't believe how great it felt. It made the Road King feel so much smaller and ready to hit the next hard banked corner with ease. Come in a feel these for yourself and you will notice just by lifting the bike off the jiffy stand how light it feels. Let's finish off this Road King Special and make it your own. Dreams Do Come True
Owner Tom and Marie DeClue
T
his incredible 1956 Chevy sedan delivery is proudly owned by Tom and Marie DeClue. Tom is a Mechanical Engineer and owner of a large HVAC and piping business. He is also very passionate about fast cars. He has and 8.90 second 1956 Chevy 2 door sedan matching color car that is raced at Gateway and other local tracks. He owned a Silver Crown sprint car for awhile, too. So, you can see the expectations for the delivery, it has to haul…. After leaving a pipe fitters convention in Peoria, IL, some 20+ years ago, Tom was heading south on I-55 when he was passed by a 1956 Chevy sedan delivery. As Tom was trying to catch up to the car, some 2.5 hours later in Hamel, IL they pulled in for fuel. Tom was curious about the car and asked if it was for sale, which the owner kindly replied, no. He was on his way to the Belle-Clair swap meet. Tom gave him his number and asked for the first rights to purchase the car if he changed his mind. 6 weeks later, Tom received a call that he won’t ever forget, the delivery is for sale. Tom went the next day to pick it up. Now take in mind, this car is not the car you see in the photos. It was a rough and well used, driven car. The car sat for 20 years while Tom attended to his family and business. Retired now, his family suggested to him that he begin work on the delivery. The inaugural Tri-Five Nationals were a few weeks away, so what better place to go look for parts and information concerning the build. After looking at different chassis set ups, he chose the Roadster Shop custom tri-5. This includes a C-6 vette style front suspension along with a 4 link rear, Ford 9 in 3.73 posi unit. Wilwood 4 piston disc brakes, helps bring the beast to a quick stop. With the foundation set, he had the old race motor from the 2 door sedan, which by the way came out of the old company dump truck. It is a 427 tall deck that has been punched out to 440 cu. in. and detuned to 500 hp by Gordon at Performance Automotive in Bethalto, IL. Sitting on top of the Edelbrock RPM intake is a Holley Sniper EFI setup, MSD blaster coil and distributor. Tom had made prior arrangements to have Spencer’s Auto Body do the body and paint work, one problem, they do not do rust repair. This is the time that Tom enlisted the help of Tony Goodrich, owner of Tony’s Rod and Custom, Bunker Hill, IL. to help with sheet metal repair, fab work and final assembly. Tom had the car apart and ready for sheet metal surgery. We began by building the floor pans to the chassis and getting square first. By the way, all of this work was performed in his basement. It’s a car guy’s dream shop.

We built a bird cage in the body first to keep everything square, before any cuts were made. From the firewall to the tail pan section, all the old sheet metal was removed. New smoothie firewall, inner/outer rockers, inner/outer wheelhouses and ½ quarter panels were installed. Along with the new floor pan section, a modified rear floor pan section, filled spare tire well, was installed. Once all the sheet metal was welded in place and ground smooth, (a good surgeon doesn’t leave scars), it was time to set the body on the chassis. Next, Tom and I made the long tube headers, thanks in part to ICEngine works header model kit. From header flange to tailpipe, Tom had Mike Baggett of Pro Exhaust fab up the rest. Roger at Jet Hot Coatings OKC, OK put the ceramic coating inside and out for a long lasting finish. We began to mock up the front clip and he wanted an inside pull hood latch release, not a problem??? Due to the long nose water pump, serpentine belt system and the Be Cool radiator module, the radiator/ condenser had to be moved 4 inch forward of core support. We made 4 inch spacers, had them chromed to go with the mirror finish of module. Now it seemed right for a new hood latch system. We used Eddie Motorsport hood hinges for that tech look. As with his race car, Tom wanted a 69 Camaro cowl section grafted in place and functional. The look is shockingly good. After all the mock up was completed, the body was removed from chassis and both were sent over to Tom Martin and his crew at Spencer’s Auto Body Meadowbrook, IL. The chassis was prepped and sprayed with SherwinWilliams Champagne metallic single stage urethane. The painted chassis and components were brought back to the basement for final assembly. American Racing Torq Thrust 2 wheels, 17x8 front and 18x11 rear are paired with BFG G-Force Comp 2 245/45/17 front and 295/40/18 rear at the corners. Swaglok tubing and fittings are used for fuel and transmission lines. A Bowler prepped 4L80E with compushift controller completes the drive train. With the body work coming along, it was time to get the Sherwin-Williams Ultra Base Ford performance red sprayed, followed by CC200 Dynamic Clearcoat. At this point is where Tony applied the labor of love to the envious task of blocksanding. Once completed, the buffing process using the Presta 3 step system brings the surface to the mirror finish you see in the photos. It was time to marry the body to the chassis and begin the final assembly. On the inside Tom wanted it very simple. We smoothed the dash, no radio, no slide controls, no ashtray and we moved the ignition to the center console. Vintage Air takes care of cooling this large cabin with 2 extra center vents added to the dash. Dakota Digital keeps track of all the vitals. American Autowire Classic update was used to feed the juice from the relocated rear mount battery. Dynamat was used to cover every interior panel, including the roof, for that vault sound effect. Kevin’s Upholstery did a fantastic job in keeping it a clean and simple design. Along with recovering the Monte Carlo swivel seats, he made the center console and access cover for the battery. Steele rubber products were used throughout the project to keep out the elements of Mother Nature. Now that the final assembly was coming to an end, the hard work, many hours of research and the passion to see it through, the results are stunning. Hearing the roar of the big block, the stance and the mirror reflection in the paint, made the 14-month journey worth it all. Dreams do come true to those who wait patiently. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com
