Doc’s Guide to YOUR Holiday Season

It’s already that time of year again. The turkeys are running for their lives, Santa is getting his sled ready, and we here at Doc’s Harley-Davidson are ready to help you navigate through the hustle and bustle of your holiday season. Still looking for an amazing gift for the kids or grandkids? The IRONe bikes are the perfect gift to get the kids into the world of motorcycles. For many of us, riding started when we were younger; dirt bikes, pocket bikes, and so on. The IRONe is the perfect start to the riding journey. IRONe bikes come in two sizes: IRONe12, which is built for 3-5 year old riders under 75 lbs, and IRONe16, which is for riders aged 5-7 under 75 lbs. They are powered by a quick-change lithium ion battery which can be swapped out to keep the ride going. Each battery allows for a 30-60 minute session and charges fully again in 30-60 minutes on the charger. The frame is lightweight aluminum ranging from 17 to 19 lbs., allowing for most kids to be able to pick them up. The tapered foot rest builds a child’s confidence while also providing posture that will plant their feet firmly on the ground easily. Speed is controlled by a twist throttle, and both models offer three power modes: training, standard and advanced. Doc’s has demo models for test rides if you want the kids in your life to try them out! These are truly a perfect starter bike to share your passion for motorcycles with the next generation. Are you looking for a way to commemorate your love for HarleyDavidson? Maybe you’re looking for a cool gift for someone who also loves Harley-Davidsons. The LEGO Creator Expert HarleyDavidson Fat Boy is the perfect gift idea. Standing at over 7” high and 12” long, this is a great display piece once completed. The Fat Boy has moving parts, such as moving pistons, levers and handlebars and comes in Wicked Red. This LEGO set is something CONTINUE ON PAGE 5

Welcome to December my friends. The year is winding down and we here at Full Throttle Magazine want to thank each and everyone of you that has helped to keep our magazine the “Number One” most read and sought-after motorcycle magazine in the Midwest. It has been a great year for us, and we appreciate the loyalty of readers and fans and of course the support of our many advertisers. We work hard to publish the best possible magazine in both quality and coverage of our area and because of you we are committed to continue to improve. So, thanks again for the following and we look forward to the new year of 2020. I’m sure your all aware we are doing our annual Toy Drive n Saturday, December 7th at Bobby’s Place in Valley Park starting at noon and running all day. There will be great food and drinks and fun for everyone who can make it out. We are gathering toys and donations for local schools here in town to help many of their students have a good Christmas. Unfortunately, many of these children and their family many not be able to have a Christmas if it wasn’t for the kindness and generosity from people like yourselves. Let’s show these kids that we do care and that people can be good to each other. Bring any unwrapped toy or donation to Bobby’s Place on the 7th so we can help as many less fortunate kids as we possibly can. We are Bikers, and Bikers are the most caring people in this world, so join in the fun and help us, help these kids. I look forward to seeing everyone that day. Please, Please stop in and help the kids and have a drink and some great food. Mark your calendars for the STL Auto and Bike Show at the America’s Center on January 23rd through January 26th. Need Is it time to go to some motorcycle events or on vacation yet? The cold weather just started, and I’m not happy. Wouldn’t it be nice to go hop on a plane and fly to a motorcycle or car event in Florida or somewhere warm and when you arrive, your motorcycle or car is already there waiting for you? That sounds excellent to me! Brad Allens, owner of Allen’s transportation, can make that happen. Brad wants to make bringing your toys to events/vacation as easy and painless as possible. Trust me, it will make your trip that much easier. Plus, there are so many other benefits from using Allen’s Transportation. Think about all the time you can save by utilizing Allen’s Transportation services. Let’s say you want to go to Daytona bike week, which is March 6th-20th 2020, and like many of us, can’t afford to take off those extra days for travel. That’s where Brad and his crew can come in. They can save four to six days of traveling by using his service. That’s a lot of extra time and energy that you do not have to spend. Like I said, for a lot of us getting an extra few days off work is not easy. We all know cross country motorcycle rides can be very tiring. You also save money on gas, and hotels along the way. All that equals more time having fun and relaxing. It is so much easier to just hop on a plane and fly to your Page 22

Ride?

destination. Allen’s lets you fly in and out on your timeframe, not theirs! Once you arrive you give them a call and your bike/ car will be delivered to you. And when you are ready to leave, they will pick up your bike or car and placed in securely in their trailer and bring it back home. They also offer overnight parking in some situations. If you need a secure place to park your bike for the evenings, they can help you out. Allen’s Transportation uses top of the line enclosed trailers with full security systems installed. They can fit up to 10 motorcycles per trailer. If you’re a motorcycle club, or group of friends or just you need to take a trip, Allen’s transportation can come pick up everything and take it to where you need to be. It is very important to them that your property is protected and will arrive exactly as it was dropped off. That’s why they use enclosed trailers and security systems. Allen’s employees are always on-site when they have your property as well. They do not put any logos on the trailers to keep it as discreet as possible. When your property is with them, it will always be protected. You will have absolutely no worries. Allen’s transportation is not just limited to motorcycle’s and motorcycle events. They travel all over the US to different car shows, race events and a lot more. If you have any questions about an event or anything at all don’t hesitate to give them a call. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

ow's it going Full Throttle readers? Zach White here to give you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. With the sneak peak of winter weather, the leaves changed quickly and have started falling. Between that and the salt on the ground from an early November snow, the roads can be slick. Make sure to be careful as the temperatures warm up and you get out for a ride. Like always, check the PSI in your tires before heading out to enjoy the last of fall. When you return home clean that bike like never before because salt from the road can get in places our eyes and hands don’t see or feel. Plug the battery tender in, put something in the fuel, and cover it up. No one wants to pull their bike cover off and have visible corrosion from the salt or the “click” from a dead battery! This month at the dealership we kick it off with our annual “Guy’s Night” on December 5th from 6-8. We will have a HD Buck Hunter Simulator, vendors, the 2019 Big St. Charles Calendar winners, free food & drinks, and a real good time to be had by all. Nothing better than getting together with your friends and meeting new ones that have a love for the motor sports world! Don't worry ladies; it will be your turn in February! Hope to see you all and make sure to call Sandy to RSVP. Also, every Saturday until Christmas we will have pictures with Santa from 11-1. Bring the little ones so they can let Santa know what they want and take home a picture to share. On December 21st bring your fur babies in to get them on Santa’s list as well. To end the holiday season we will have our 12 days of Christmas. Each day we will have a different item for our Harley enthusiasts at a price you can’t pass up. Be sure to get on our mailing Page 26

list if you're not already, or check out our website and social media pages. Now let's talk about this amazing two-wheeled machine that is currently available on our showroom floor, waiting to be nestled in your garage and ready for spring. This paint set looked great when I first got to see a picture of it, so we had to pre-order it. Once I got to see it in person at the Annual Dealer Show in August, I was very glad that we made that decision, Pictures don’t do it justice! This is a 2020 Road Glide Special with a Limited Custom Paint set from Harley-Davidson. They call the paint set “Mayhem” and its number 67 of 150 in the WORLD!!!! From the Inferno Red Pearl and Phantom black base, it really sets the tone from front to back. Then, to separate those two, you have the Ghost White with Brushed Silver Highlights that feature a wood grain look! The nice upward sweep really shows the detail on each hand painted piece. To give it an aggressive finish in the rear, you will see the #1 logo inside the Deep Charcoal on the lower saddlebags. This bike is sure to get the heads turning with all the blacked out items and rolling on a set of Prodigy Custom Wheels . he beautiful red 1967 Pontiac GTO that you see here is owned by Joe and Debbie Thyer. No strangers to the car/bike scene, they have owned a few vettes in the past and enjoy weekend rides on their full dress custom painted Harley. They always like the GTO’s, but with work and family, it never materialized. Fast forward a few years, Joe spotted an ad for a “lost interest project” in Southeast Mo. He made the trek to look at the car, lots of new/used parts came with it, so a deal was struck. Joe separated the body from the restored chassis only to find the body was not as advertised. We’ve heard that phrase a time or two in this industry. That’s when Joe requested the help of Tony Goodrich, owner of Tony’s Rod and Custom Bunker Hill, IL. First thing that had to be done is build a bird cage to keep the body square while hanging on the roto unit. Once cage was completed, the floor, wheelhouses, rockers and quarter panels were removed. A one piece floor section was installed, which by the way, on a project of this size is the only way to go. New rockers and wheelhouses were set in place and welded. New quarters were added, but the tail sections were heavily damaged, so new hand formed sections were made. With a new rear bumper on hand and tail sections being made, it was time to make this fit a little tighter. GTO’s along with other similar GM body styles are notorious of poor bumper fits. Tony swelled the quarters out at the bumper location and formed the bottom of the tail section for a better parallel line to bumper. A lot of work, but the end results are worth it. The firewall looked like a target range with all the pre-dimpled factory locators. Since we were not using the factory air box, the firewall received the “smoothie” treatment, along with custom sheet metal mount pods for the MSD box and 4 port bulkhead.

With all of the sheet metal work completed, it was time to get it in etch primer. We set the body back on the chassis, so all of the panels could be re-assembled and aligned. This is what separates good cars from great cars as all of the body work; sanding; more primer and more sanding are done as an assembled car. This allows one to have very straight gaps, panels and true body lines, which require many hours during this stage. After receiving the ECP (Engineered Cooling Products) radiator module, we realized there was an issue of clearance between the 11” dual Spal fans and the March serpentine belt pulley system. After looking things over, Tony decided to cut the lower section of core support out and flip it around, so the base is facing the front instead of the rear. It allowed

enough angle to get a ¼” gap of clearance. All holes that were not used in the core support were welded solid and dressed smooth. A custom over flow tank mount was fabricated and welded to core support. A custom made billet aluminum mounting bracket for the large power steering reservoir completes the modifications up front. As with the rear bumper, the front bumper is no different. The front received the nip/tuck treatment on the sides and fender recess areas were re-sculpted to fit bumper. With all of the body work/primer work completed, it was time to put the body back on the roto unit. Mock up is so important on any build, not just on this one. The time and effort spent here will pay huge dividends during final assembly. Once the body and the panels on the jig fixtures were prepped, it was time to apply the Martin Senour Hot Rod red and CC200 Dynamic clear. The body was taped off and sealed, for the firewall and bottom of car to be sprayed in a velvet smooth satin black. The interior and trunk area were prepped for a coating of Raptor bedliner, and then covered with Dynamat. Many hours were spent during the blocksanding/buffing process, but the finish is well worth it. While the body portion was finishing up, Joe pulled the motor out to prep and get it covered with body matching red. He re-installed the Pontiac 400 c.i. into the finished chassis. To give the motor more bling, he added an Edelbrock RPM dual plane Endurashine intake along with matching finned air filter/valve cover package. Performance coatings of Joplin, MO applied the cast grey ceramic finish to the factory header manifolds, which enhance the look as well as the sound out the 2.5” dual, S.S. tipped exhaust. A Bowler prepped 700R4 transmission along with their new product, idiot proof TV cable assembly helps keep the car moving down the road safely. For the last time, the body was reunited to the chassis. Now the real fun begins with final assembly. American Autowire classic update system was called upon to feed the power from the relocated rear mounted red top Optima battery to the MSD 6AL box, distributor and plug wires. Dakota Digital VHX series gauges keeps information updated and accurate. A carbon fiber dash insert kit adds that finishing touch. Denny’s upholstery of Bethalto, IL got the nod to create a stunning and never seen before GTO interior. He started with a pair of Pontiac Grand Am seats that were reshaped and contoured for a better fit and feel. He made the rear seat, rear shelf speaker panel, custom door/kick panels and a custom center console that houses rear air ducts, courtesy lights, cup holders and the iconic factory his/her shifter. All were covered in a satin black with red stitching to set it off. As if that were not enough, he created a trunk interior to match the cab area with Pontiac emblems, no doubt. With final assembly coming near, it was time to put the Foose Legends on, 17x7 front and 18x8 rear. Wrapped in BFG G-Force Comp 2, 245/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear. Factory style 4-wheel disc brakes helps keep this goat from running wild. Vintage Air supplied the Sure fit system that allows the factory slide controller to be linked to the modern style electric heater control valve, compared to cables and vacuum. Ididit tilt column with a Billet Specialties half wrapped steering wheel helps keep it between the lines. The “Little GTO” has done very well the past 2 show seasons. With numerous awards throughout the St. Louis region, including a Super Chevy jacket, Rt. 66 (best Pontiac) and Best of the Best (Pontiac), it goes without saying, hard work does payoff! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com
