very Holiday season when you have to buy something special for your Harley rider, Harley-Davidson makes it easy. There are usually more items on their “Wish List” than most of us will be able to buy. This year will be a bit different but every dealership in the St. Louis area will be packed with new items. Many of the items were purchased last year from Harley-Davidson and recently came in. Each buyer chooses what they believe you, our customer base, would want. Have you heard about our WISH LIST? You can stop by any of the dealerships and give them your wish list. That way, we store it in our software and your family and friends can come in and pick items off of your list. You can come by anytime to the dealerships and do that. This is a great service for you because you get what you want. This becomes very easy for the gift giver because we can show them what you chose for their price book. It is like a wedding registry but there are no dishes to pick out. Just stop by Doc’s and talk to the girls and we can set that up. New 2020 ornaments. New black or chrome accessories for your bike. Some bling for the ladies in beautiful tops. Best selection of wallets and purses for the year. Harley Santa shirt or a Winter globe. This is just a small example of what each dealership will have this year. I have an all employee meeting every Saturday that is about 15 minutes long. I asked them what they thought their top three must haves for a Harley Rider. I thought this would give you some ideas of gifts to think about. Here is the list from the Doc’s team on what I would call HARLEY ESSENTIALS. The Service team’s leader, Chris Benson, said everyone has to have a Tire Pressure gauge. Now, who doesn’t have one? This is a must for your safety, the wear on your tires and it is part of what you are supposed to do before you go for a ride. Check your tires. Also, he suggested a DOT helmet. With the State helmet law changing, you do have a choice now. You get to choose protection or the wind in your hair. That is called freedom, we get it. Chris is a Master Technician, our Service Manager and a father to two little kids so he is going to continue to wear his full face. Chris’ last” must have” was Horsepower!!!In fact, most of the Doc’s men said the same thing. They want to go fast with loud pipes and get on the road. Service can give you exactly what you would want and can explain Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4. What a dramatic difference in the ride! Recently, I had a customer tell me he was mad at himself for waiting to put on a Stage 2. This is an expensive gift but maybe you have been really good or really bad to get it this year. Mike Trankler, one of our Master Techs had a pretty simple list. Gas, oil, and air in your tires are his top three. I would say I wasn’t too surprised with what he gave me. Can’t do much without that. Rick Feldman tried to bring his personality into it. He said: “My bike needs good rubber. My feet need good Contines on page 5

As we approach what is one of my favorite holidays, Christmas, I'm anxious to get 2020 behind us and hope 2021 brings us all a much better year for motorcycle events, rides and overall letting us get back to our normal lives. I love the Christmas season because it seems to bring out the best in most of us and the season is geared toward family togetherness. Cindy and I enjoy the time we get to spend with the kids, grandkids and other family members and will certainly not let the pandemic change that. I'm going to rant for a moment. I will not and would not let anyone tell me who or how many people I can have in my own home. Everyone has the right to do what they like in their own homes and for now this is still a free country. We all have the right to make our own decisions in our own homes. I see a lot of people who are willing to succumb to what someone tells them they have to do but, there are a a lot of us that still believe in the freedom of America and will not stand for it. I will not lay down and surrender my freedom or my Constitutional rights without a fight and know there are millions of you who feel the same way. Well there's my rant for this issue and whether you agree with me or disagree, that's your right. I would like to also ask that we all try and support our local business owners during the upcoming months. Restaurants, shops, bars and whom ever need all of our support to make it through these tough times. Instead of buying from Amazon or some online company please, spend your dollars locally to help our brothers and sisters make it. Times are tough for many businesses and we can help make a difference. So remember, you want to get a pay check, help these business owners stay in business so they and their employees can get a paycheck too. Your purchases could make all the difference in the world for these locally owned businesses. Plans are being made for the 2021 Lake of the Ozark Bikefest and the dates are Wednesday, September 15th through Sunday September 19th. As always Full Throttle Magazine will be the "Exclusive" Motorcycle Magazine Sponsor of the 15th Annual Bikefest. Plans for another huge year are what everyone is predicting. If you have never been or you are a regular at the event, plan on making your reservations early before all the special room rates are sold out. We will look forward to another HUGE and fantastic event in 2021. A quick word about the 2021 Auto-Motorcycle show that usually happens in January. Word around is that it will happen but in April of 2021. We are investigating this now and will keep everyone updated as we learn More. So from all of us here at Full Throttle Magazine, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Awesome 2021. As always, my friends ride safe and see you you on the road with Full Throttle Magazine. Bob

leather. My head needs good protection.” Rick is one in a million. He is a super Service Advisor and knows so many of you, it’s crazy. Some of the other technicians said: good suspension, LED lights, service your bike, rider’s training and the right riding gear. Talking about riding gear, here are some suggestions from the girls in Motorclothes. All of the ladies said, every guy has to have a Harley-Davidson jacket. They look sooooo good wearing a Harley jacket and it feels soooo good just putting it on. There is a feeling getting on that leather jacket, zipping it on and just going. Maybe this year, you need a new one or your first one. We promise, it will help make 2020 a lot better. Maria and Krista think everyone should have a Harley bell on their bike. They want everyone on the road to be safe and it is definitely a great lucky charm to ward off the gremlins of the road. Maybe you know someone who needs some luck. Stop by and pick out one. There is no harm in having two, is there? Make sure you do not buy one for yourself because it has to be given as a gift. That will throw everything off in good karma for you. lol Teresa says everyone should have a custom Doc’s t-shirt. Every dealer has their own custom backs and some have a custom on custom t-shirt. What is a custom on custom? The t-shirt will have a custom front and custom back about the dealership. We have a great looking t-shirt that has a small custom Doc’s logo on front with our St. Louis scene on the back. It comes in a variety of colors to choose from too. Our Sales Department came up with a variety of Harley essentials. Doug Rothberg wrote an article himself with his list. Here is what someone who has been riding since forever has to say in his own words: #1. Battery Tender---Make sure the day starts off right. Keep the battery charged year round. Diligent use of a battery charger may also extend the life of your battery 1-2 years beyond the warranty period. #2. Riding gloves---In the event of a mishap while riding and you are forced to go down, the natural tendency is to extend your arms and prepare for impact. #3. Eye Protection---A pair of high quality sunglasses keep your eyes safe. Impact resistant, scratch proof, and polarized are the best choice. You may want to carry a second pair of clear glasses for night time riding. Tina Mason is one of our Vehicle Sales Experts and has been part of this business for over 10 plus years. She wasn’t messing around and said, a NEW BIKE!!! She wants you to remember that our bikes are like our babies. They need to be protected with a bike cover and cleaned with H-D detail kits. Nobody likes a dirty baby! Now, who out there has been thinking of trading up to a new 2020???Please clean your baby before you place him or her in hibernation. This year the new 2021 line up of motorcycles will be out on January 19, 2021. This is new for this year from H-D Motor Company because of Covid. The parts team agreed with Brad Bryant, another Sales Expert. Brad wants to make sure everyone has to have the tried and true BATTERY TENDER. The worse part of a day is when your bike won’t start so keep it on as much as possible. Another life saver for Brad that he loves is his H-D soft lowers. Any bike with the traditional H-D engine guard can use these soft lowers. Throw them in your back pack or saddle bag and when it starts to look like rain, you can get them on. They keep your legs toasty warm. They also have convenient little pockets on the inside where Brad keeps some glove liners to keep his hands warm. Contines on page 6

The last item was H-D LED Daymaker headlights. This was suggested by Brad, Phillip, Zach, and some of the parts team. This helps so much for night riding especially. Missouri is full of deer and this possibly would help prevent a mishap. Most dealers have LED lights on bikes so you can see the difference. With Covid this year, I would suggest to shop earlier. Some of the products will be on back order from HarleyDavidson. The last item to suggest when all else fails is a gift card from the dealership. You can call and order a gift card or just about anything for the Holiday. Every dealership has a customer Pick up area where you order it, pay for it and we will run it out to your car. We will mail to your friends and family for you too. Just give us a call or text from our website .We will try our very best to help you with your purchase. Everything can be done over the phone if that is what you prefer for the time being. Most of the dealers are picking up your bike for Service too and trades. We need to keep our technicians working and Doc’s has Winter Specials to help motivate our customers to get their bikes ready to ride in the spring. It saves you a bunch of money and I keep my technicians working. The last part that I would ask you to do is to BUY LOCAL. Please buy from your local dealership. We are all owned individually. This year has not been what any of us expected. Everyone has been affected by Covid including Harley-Davidson and your local dealerships. I know all of us would so appreciate it. Come by and see us or call us or text us! We love you whether you’ve been naughty or nice! Luv ya lots, Beth Ernst/Owner of Doc’s Harley-Davidson

As we traveled on our journey, we heard a loud rumble; We turned to found Santa all in a Crumble. Laying in the ditch with the presents all scatters; We ran up to Santa to see what was the matter.

As Santa burned out in the brisk winter wind; I yelled up to him, “Have my bike back before the night’s end!” He turned and snickered with a boastful laugh, “I’ll have it back without a scratch.”

“I hit a patch of ice and wrecked my sled; I even tore my leather suit of red. I have all these gifts of biker gear and chrome, And now have no way to deliver them to homes!”

As I woke the next morning, I went to my shed, And to my amazement, my Trike was back and decked out In red! Santa brightened it up with a shiny new coat of paint, Lots and lots of chromed; I began to feel faint.

“Winter

How's it going Full Throttle readers? Zach White here to give

you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. Hope everyone enjoyed the nice November riding weather that mother nature handed to us. It felt nice to have so many 60- & 70-degree days. Now we are into the Holiday season and 2020 is slowly coming to an end. What a year it has been! With the holiday season comes the time for giving. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and make sure you’re signed up for our emails. This will give you all the details of what we have in store for our customers. Since the seminar season is on hold, I wanted to go over some tips this month that I would normally give out during the Winter riding and Storage seminar. As you probably know, Winter in the Midwest usually means freezing temps and snow. That means lots of salt on the roads. This can destroy your bike, so make sure you clean, clean, clean your bike. We sell some corrosion protection cleaner that helps keep the road grime off as well. For the riders that will be getting the bike out of the garage on 50-degree days during the winter, this part is for you. Make sure your bike is plugged into a battery tender. After you have cleaned your bike, then plug that tender into your harness. Harleys take a lot of cold cranking amps to fire over, and no one wants that nice day to come just to find a dead battery. Also, since your bike is probably sitting for longer periods of time in between rides, I recommend having some kind of fuel additive in it. Your fuel can break down and start getting condensation within a few weeks! We have a few different brands in stock, but my favorite are the Fitch Fuel Catalysts. You simply drop them into your tank and have no worries, other than making sure your fuel is topped off at the end of the ride. No figuring out how much fuel you used and determining how much additive to add back in. I also recommend covering your bike up so it doesn’t get covered in dust, and more importantly, to help prevent damage if something falls on it.

Now for riders that keep your bikes off the road for the rest of winter after the salt hits the

Storage” ground, here are some tips for you. First off, change all the fluids in your bike if you are storing it in a climate-controlled area. After your fluids are changed, top off your fuel, and add your fuel additive or fitch fuel catalyst to your fuel tank. Turn the petcock off if your bike has a carburetor. Next, clean your bike from front to back and top to bottom. Now plug your battery tender into your bike and check the tire pressure. This should be done monthly. If you have a scissor jack, put your bike up to take the weight off the tires and prevent any flat spots. If you don’t own one, then make sure you move your bike a little each time you check your tire pressure. You can put some rubber or plywood under to help with moisture as an extra precaution. Now, put a bike cover over the top and let it sit. Don’t fire it up at all unless you are planning on going on an hour-long ride. In that case, you’ll want to repeat all of these steps when you get back home. If you don’t have a climate-controlled area to store your motorcycle this winter, then give us a call. We will come and pick up your bike and store it here for $450.00. Included with your winter storage, we will change your engine fluid and filter. We will do a 35pt inspection to make sure your bike is in tip top shape for spring riding. We will make sure any recalls are up to date. Last, we will add fuel additive to the tank, clean it, plug it into a battery tender, and cover it up in a climate-controlled building (protected from all that mother nature has in store for us!). Get ahold of us to find out how you can get ½ off and the month of December for FREE!! Please come in if you’d like to talk a little more in depth about the proper winter procedures. You can also reach us by phone or email. All the products discussed in this article are in stock and ready for you in the parts department. If you wish to have them shipped, then contact us. Make sure to check out our website or Facebook page for details on what we have planned for 12 days of Christmas. Happy Holidays to all and a Happy New Year! We all appreciate your business this year and we’re looking forward to a fresh start in 2021! Thanks again for taking the time to read this and please come into St. Charles HarleyDavidson and ask for me, Zach White, or give me a call at 636-946-6487 or email zach@ stcharlesharleydavidson.com to set up a consultation. "BARN FINDS" PART 1

Full Throttle Magzine

Being an avid car collector for over 45 years, Jerry Harris has accumulated a wide variety

of automobiles from the twenties all the way into the eighties. There is so much to his little piece of heaven; it will have to be covered in two parts. Growing up on the family farm of 7 generations, instilled family values and a keen eye upon the future, as to, how is the soil going to be in the next 15-20 years and what are we going to do to sustain a good harvest each year, etc? Well, after graduating high school in 1973, Jerry came across a sale ad in the local newspaper for a 1970 Hemi Cuda. Always a fan of the Penta Star (Mopar products), he had to check it out. You have to remember this was a time in history when we had the gas embargo or shortage and gas guzzling cars were very cheap at this time. The price was right and so he purchased the car. This particular Hemi Cuda was a heavily optioned vehicle, overhead console, power steering, power brakes, rear defrost, it was a 2 I.D. tag car, case closed. Being very excited, I guess at 18 years of age, what car nut wouldn’t be? He calls up his lifelong friend/girlfriend to tell her that he bought her something, she’s thinking a ring? She opens the door and sees the car and slams the door in his face, picky young lady… This wasn’t the end of their friendship, their paths would cross again. He kept the car and moved on and so the passion of finding cool and different cars began. Continuing to work the family farm, Jerry had one thing in his favor with this newfound hobby, space, a very big red barn to begin storing his new treasures. One of his unusual purchases came in 1978 from the local Dodge dealership, a Dodge Aspen Street Kit car. This particular car was built at Petty Enterprises of North Carolina. Lots of body modifications to resemble a road racing Trans-Am series and of course the iconic #43 on the side; this was an expensive option of 5k on top of the $3,700.00 sticker price. He drove it home and parked it in the barn. It has 7 miles on the odometer and it gets started monthly. His dad couldn’t believe what he was doing, but didn’t argue and went on with farming. Now that the bug has bit him hard, cars of the sixties were popping up all over the place. Wanting to be a member of the famed Daytona Car Club, a member had to own one of the five aero coupe models that were raced at Daytona. In 1974 he purchased his first winged car, a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, found in a for sale ad of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for $700 dollars. That was a lot of money for a gas hog back in the day. It

Page 26

was a factory built car with a 440 six barrel and rear wing. It had the flush rear window insert and vinyl roof. This was used to hide the seam on top. The rear wing was 4” taller than that of the Dodge Daytona Charger. Now that he was a solid member, if all you needed was one, why not all 5? So he set out to find the other 4 aero coupes of the day. In 1975 he was reading the iconic Hot Rod magazine when he stumbled across an ad of a 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger, 440 cu in Magnum wing car out of Wilmington, IL. A road trip ensued. This is 1 of 500 built. This car is still driven today with a little southern hospitality of the famous #01 and #43 on its doors. What a lot of people don’t realize, is how much rework went into these 500 cars to make them legit per the NASCAR rules of the day. The rear glass was recessed with pillars on the back from the factory, a fill panel with flush mount glass and shorter decklid along with the patented rear wing gave the car more stability at high speeds at tracks, such as Daytona. Up front has to be one of the most recognized front ends of all muscle car era cars, ever! The Endura front nose section has to be used as a weight to help keep the car from lifting, it’s massive, but very aerodynamic and that’s its purpose. They built about a ten inch hood extension to meet up with the bumper section and from the factory this is not one of the prettiest seams. They also had top fender blisters to regulate the airflow at high speeds, but truth be known, it was for tire clearance. Next on the list was the 1969 Ford Talledaga with its potent 428 CJ. This was built off the Torino platform, but they also had the extended nose with smoother grille treatment. He found this one in Moline, IL. To compliment the Ford was the 1969 Mercury Cyclone II. This Came with a 351W, 4bbl and was sold new here in St. Charles, MO. The final piece is the one year only, Dodge Charger 500. It has the noted smooth rear glass treatment, along with the flush mount Cornet model grille. This was purchased in 1978 from Granite City, IL. All 5 of these cars ran when Jerry acquired them, but over the years time has sat still on a few of them. The 2 wing cars can be seen at local cruises and shows, but also a few Goodguys events as well. Not to be left out of the pack are 2 Pontiacs that will leave you scratching your head. First up is the memorable 1986 Grand Prix 2+2 Aero coupe. Once again NASCAR influence for more speed. This one only has 14,000 miles and is driven to local shows and cruises. This one is WTH were they thinking. A 1987 Fiero with a 32 valve Northstar V8 installed. Jerry purchased the car this way. Believe it or not, they actually build a conversion kit for this set up, wow. He says, “It is a very smooth and fun car to drive.” One thing about Jerry, he is one of the most down to earth guys you’ll ever meet and I am honored to call him friend. He focuses more on mechanicals than the aesthetics, but that comes from being a Hyundai dealer mechanic for 20 years. You will have to wait till the next issue to get the full picture. God Bless!!! www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com
