Another month has flown by and we are approaching Thanksgiving. I know I have said it before but time just flies by and the days are just a blur. As I think back on this last month there were some great events and rides and some fun days. But I also have to say there was some sad news laid on Cindy and I in late September. A very good friend of ours and a man who worked with us for a few years, passed away in late September in tragic motorcycle accident. Kelly “Rev” Roades. Rev was one of those rare people that touched so many of us. Even though I knew Rev well I have to admit I didn’t realize the number of people he had influenced and guided to his faith. He was a man with a great sense of humor and a man who had a never altered in his belief. We were privileged to have worked with him on a daily basis and to be able to say he was our friend. I hope you all will take a few minutes to read the tribute and stories about Rev in this issue. He was a talented and giving man with the Heart of a Giant and a man that will never be forgotten by many, many people. Rev, we know you are looking down upon us and seeing the out pour of love that you left and that huge amount of love that is coming back your way. We look forward to the day we will ride again together on the other side. Our love and respect to you our good friend. Although we are approaching the close of this year there are still some great events happening. You’ll want to get your tickets to the always popular Leather and Lace Ball at the Casa Loma Ballroom on Saturday November 19th. This year marks the 25th anniversary and is going to be a HUGE party, so be sure to attend. Tickets can be purchased at the participating Harley Dealers and can be bought at the door the evening of the event. Also the STL Motorcycle Show is coming back to the America’s Center on January 14th & 15th. Watch for more details soon. Be sure to remember the winter is a great time to have all the components of your bike checked out. Stop by your favorite dealer and have them inspect your ride and replace old fluids. Cleaning your bike and waxing it prior to coving it is always a great idea. If you don’t have a Battery Tender you might want to check with your favorite dealer and get one to keep your battery charged over the winter. As always my friends ride safe and see you the road with Full Throttle Magazine. Bob

Running away with me...
I imagined matching red spokes spinning, giving the illusion of a red streak racing down the road. That’s the thing about Harley. You can get all of the parts, strip it down and make it your own. Completely customized and adorned with personality, Boss Hog rides a step above the rest.
MEET BOSS HOG. A pretty straight forward name for a very complex bike. It all started when I became the first member of the Wheels of Choice Motorcycle Club to own a Harley. CRACK UP’S “Yes, I do”, replies the balloonist, “but how’d you know?” “Well”, says the man, “you don’t know where you are or where you’re going, but you expect me to be able to help. You’re in the same position you were before we met, but now it’s my fault.”
BASEMENT DARE
Three men walk into a bar. The barman tells them: “If you can sit in my basement for a day, I’ll give you free beer forever.” The first man walks out after five minutes and says: “It’s impossible, you got a swarm of flies in there.” So the second man tries his luck, but can’t take more than an hour. Finally, the third man goes down. When he returns a day later, the others ask him how he did it. He says: “Easy! I took a dump in one corner and sat in the other corner!”
EINSTEIN GOES TO HEAVEN
HOT AIR BALLOON
A man flying in a hot air balloon suddenly realizes he’s lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts to get directions: “Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?” The man below says: “Yes. You’re in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field.” “You must work in Information Technology”, says the balloonist. “Yes, I do”, replies the man. “How did you know?” “Well”, says the balloonist, “everything you have told me is technically correct, but it’s of no use to anyone.” The man below replies: “You must work in management.”
Einstein dies and goes to heaven only to be informed that his room is not yet ready. “I hope you will not mind waiting in a dormitory. We are very sorry, but it’s the best we can do and you will have to share the room with others”, he is told by the doorman. Einstein says that this is no problem at all and that there is no need to make such a great fuss. So the doorman leads him to the dorm. They enter and Albert is introduced to all of the present inhabitants. “See, Here is your first room mate. He has an IQ of 180!” “That’s wonderful!”, says Albert. “We can discuss mathematics!” “And here is your second room mate. His IQ is 150!” “That’s wonderful!”, says Albert. “We can discuss physics!” “And here is your third room mate. His IQ is 100!” “That’s wonderful! We can discuss the latest plays at the theater!” Just then another man moves out to capture Albert’s hand and shake it: “I’m your last room mate and I’m sorry, but my IQ is only 80.” Albert smiles back at him and says: “So, where do you think interest rates are headed?” www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

The Breakout These last few months I’ve had the privilege of working closely with one of our customers on a very special build. Michael had mentally built his dream bike countless times, but it was finally time to transform his dream into reality. Building someone’s dream may seem like a tall order, but we’re always up for a challenge. This 2016 Softail Breakout makes a bold statement and I’m excited to finally be able to tell you all about it. This project started with the purchase of a new bike and a consultation with our parts department. After sitting down to discuss his vision for the bike, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be just another bolt on build. He wanted to set things off in a big way and install a monster 26” Performance Machine front wheel. Installation of such a large wheel can completely change the handling and geometry of a bike so I worked closely with master technician Mike Bellamy to ensure that we got every last detail right. We ordered a matching brake rotor, brake caliper, six degree raked triple trees, and a wrapped front fender. Now that we had all of those details worked out it was time to move on to performance. He wanted a performance package that would match the aggressive style of the bike while producing enough power to awaken his inner child. Something that would generate an excessive amount of throttle response without sacrificing reliability so we decided on the Harley-Davidson Stage 5 Tire Shredder kit. He wanted a minimalist exhaust system that wouldn’t restrict performance. So we had a custom exhaust hand built with race baffles and paired it with a Dual Machine Gun air cleaner. These components that aided in the performance still had a look, a style to them. Michael wanted his bike to be performance driven, but still look like a showstopper. To complete that dream, we added a little bit of flair. He was always on the lookout for parts and ideas that would Page 16

help build the perfect bike for him, and we were on board every step of the way. He chose an air ride suspension to give it that slammed look. The seat was custom built to match the low profile of the bike and the stitching color was selected to complement the bike’s more subtle theme. The amazing aspect of this bike, from beginning to end, was Michael’s vision. He came up with a perfect bike and brought the ideas to us. We worked with him to make it real. The thing that makes bike builds so exciting for us is the process. Yes, the results are gratifying when a fantastic bike rolls out of the Service bay and the customer is thrilled. But the magic is working side-byside with you, our customers, and watching your dreams materialize... coming up with plans and adding and changing as new ideas emerge. Whether it’s time to transform your vision into metal and chrome or spruce up your old ride. Stop by the shop at 930 S Kirkwood Rd, drop us a line at 314.965.0166 or email me, Steve. scrafford@docsh-d.com.
A Special Thank you From The Family at Doc’s Harley-Davidson Thank you to all of our wonderful family and friends who purchased raffle tickets for the Officer Flamion Roadster. We sold 271 of our 300 tickets! That means that $27,100 goes to the Flamion family! We are so thrilled that we got to help such a wonderful cause, but we couldn’t have done any of it without you. All About “Mad
Who has been thinking of buying a new set of wheels? Well, if you have, you are in luck. We want to introduce to you one of the top wheel manufacturer’s in the business; SMT Machining. Sebastian Glod, Martin Rajman, and Ted Glod (Owners of SMT) have proven their talent in the machining and motorcycle industry over the past 15 years. SMT has made a name for themselves all over the world. They have also proven to go above and beyond in customer service, and manufacturing quality parts at an affordable price.
SMT opened their doors in 2001. Sebastian, Martin, and Ted knew then they wanted to be the best in the business. They wanted to always be a step above the rest. This was not going to be an easy task though, and the three of them knew that. So they thought, how can we be different? Well this is how, every order at SMT Machining is custom made for your bike. All SMT custom motorcycle parts and wheels are manufactured from American-made Aircraft-Grade 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum at their Glendale, Arizona facility and distributed internationally. Which by the way that aluminum is DOT certified, and is the same aluminum that the military uses to make fighter jets. Crazy right? But great for the customers because it is a lot stronger and will last a lot longer. As the saying goes if it’s good enough to use to build a fighter jet it’s good enough for our bike’s. There have always been a few things that set SMT apart from the rest, one of the main things is there Guarantee that their wheels will fit like a glove. That is a very BOLD guarantee. But the fact they back it up 100% is amazing. If you are not familiar with aftermarket wheels, you can’t just order any wheel and put it on your bike. Actually, it is normally a challenge to get any aftermarket wheel to fit like a glove on your bike. But not at SMT, that is something they have perfected. That’s why they have one of the best guarantees in the industry. They also have a lifetime guarantee on any structural problems that may occur; which doesn’t happen very often, but it is good to know it’s there if something were to ever go wrong. The chrome also has a one-year warranty, and a three-year warranty for powder coating. With that said, you have to keep your chrome or powder coated parts clean, without neglect. SMT wants to let you in on a little secret also. Brake dust is the worst thing you can let sit on your wheels. A lot of people don’t realize that. All of the chemicals in the brake pads are horrible for the finish on your wheel. You can’t expect to ride all the time and not clean your wheels for 11 months and get them re dipped for free if there is a problem, that’s not realistic. The deterioration of chrome plating is greatly dependent on consumer care and maintenance. You need to take care of the chrome, washing with a very mild

de In America”
Written By Andrew Blanton
soap and water, no chemicals! They also always suggest after you clean chrome to apply carnauba wax because it will leave a thin layer of protectant on the chrome. It is ideal to do this to your wheels every week or two at the longest. Another big reason SMT is one of the best in the business is, they make wheels for ANY bike. Not just your choppers, or not just Harley Davidson’s, ANY bike. It doesn’t matter how hard the task, their seventy plus combined years in the industry, and the fact that they go above and beyond for every customer makes all of this possible. As I sit here, trying to figure out where to even begin, I started to reflect on life and how short and precious it truly is. This world spins so fast and is even getting out of control. Years go by and when you stop for just a moment, you ask yourself, “where did it all go?” Cherish everyone in your life, tell them you love them everyday and never take them for granted and assume they will always be there, for tomorrow they might not be. Kelly “Rev” Roades, born May 25, 1959 to Parents Ginny Runyan and Robert Roades. He was a true force. I’ve never known anyone with so much passion and conviction for Christ. He was truly a Disciple of God. When Bob and I first met Kelly, we were just gearing up to start our great adventure called Biker’s Paradise. One Sunday afternoon, before our store was even open for business, we were there working when Kelly bounced up, literally, with a grin from ear to ear, his hand extended introducing himself as “Rev” and proceeded to point to his shirt where he had “Rev” embroidered. He started asking all about our shop and were we planning on having a motorcycle mechanic. He told us that is what he does and would love to interview for that job. We took to Kelly right off the bat. He loved to laugh and joke around. And yes, He caught me with that canine syndrome joke. (what a jokester you were, Rev). When we started up our Tuesday night dinner rides, Rev was Bob’s wing man; protecting the group and blocking traffic to ensure everyone’s safe passage. Our favorite story was the time when we were shooting our TV commercial. We wanted to shoot a ground shot of a motorcycle burnout and having that image fade into our “Fat is Cool” t-shirt logo. Well, when Rev heard that is what we were wanting to do, he was like a kid in a class room who had the answer to the teachers question; with his hand way up in the air, “oh, oh…..pick me, pick me!” He wanted to be the one to do the burnout. Bob was a bit apprehensive at first, but then went ahead and let him take on the challenge. We pulled one of our custom, fat tired choppers out to the parking lot where the camera crew was set up. Rev jumped onto the bike starting it up, pulling in the clutch and popping it in the first gear. He began revving the motor a time or two to make sure it was good and warm. The camera crew got their gear in place for the shot. Rev pulled in the front brake and popped the clutch and the back tire started spinning. Then all of a

sudden, the tire grabbed the concrete and shot the bike right out from underneath Rev while he was still holding on. Both he and the bike went flying. The bike landed on its side while Rev did a couple of belly spins. He popped up, giggled and said, “I don’t think that’s what you had in mind.” Like us, Kelly has touch so many lives although he had not always walked in the path of righteousness. It wasn’t until he was an adult and actually incarcerated that he was born again. The Holy Ghost consumed him and from that moment on he lived and breathed the word of God. A Friend of his, Marty Bross, spoke of that time in Kelly’s Life. “Kelly and I go way back in life attending the same grammar school at Bridgeway Elementary. We lived close by each other. Always were friends. Fast forward to the 1990’s where I was part of a Prison Ministry TEAM and saw Kelly come through the door of the Chapel of Gumbo Jail. My prayer about a week earlier was “ God, if I see anyone that I know come through the jail system, let them be my friend when they get out free”. The answer was Kelly. Pastor Jeff had asked me if I lead him to the Lord and I honestly thought Kelly did raise his hand for the first time Salvation in that chapel. Turns out he gave his heart to Jesus previously.” (An inspiration birthed in Kelly to write his autobiography titled “Drugs Death & Deliverance”- A MUST READ!) I reached out to those who were close to Kelly, asking them to share some of their memories with him. I felt it best to get a greater perspective of how he has touched so many lives. “I knew Kelly in high school, we hung out a lot back then, of course doing things we shouldn’t (which I will leave at that). We lost touch for years and then I found him on Facebook. I was so surprised to see he was a Christian like me. When his wife passed, he reached out to me for help with packing up his wife’s belongings. It was overwhelming for him and I could tell he needed support. The day I went over to help him, it was like our friendship had never missed a beat. It was like we never lost touch. Neither of us stopped talking for a minute. I can tell you Kelly just always had a way with people. He told me the stories of what he had been through, trying to catch up after all those years and I shared my stories with him. As I listened to all the struggles he went through in his www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

life, I realized the person he truly was, in his heart, the one I knew, was still there. But now he had become much stronger, happier and healthy through the love of Jesus Christ. I remember we went to lunch after working for several hours that day. Then our meal came and he extended his hands across the table reaching for mine. I looked at him not understanding what he wanted………..He said Cris, lets pray. I can’t tell you the overwhelming feeling I had……….I couldn’t reach my hands across the table fast enough. He said grace and all I could do was smile!!! I was thinking to myself wow, this is awesome…Kelly Roads praying!! When he was done he looked at me with that grin of his laughed and said “can you believe it…..you and I praying and serving our lord…….who would have ever thunk it!!!” “Amen, Kell!! - God did!!” “Even though I only had my friend back in my life for a few short months, he opened my eyes about many things with his spiritual wisdom and the joy he brought to my life will be with me a lifetime!!” – Cris McKenna “Kelly asked me if I would like to take a road trip to Anaheim, CA to visit his Dad and trailer his bike so we can ride it down the coast. Having only flown there before, I thought it would be a fun experience. Kelly was tickled that I agreed to go with him. We left my house around 8pm on August 3rd. Kelly was like a little kid; all excited to visit his father and ride the costal highway. Of course no big adventure would be complete without Super Dog “Bo”. About an hour into our trip, the trailer blows a tire. We pull over and he changes the tire. After that Kelly Turns and says “You know baby, I don’t think I really trust these tires. Let’s get new ones in the morning.” We got a hotel for the evening and set out the next morning for new tires. Finally, we are back on the road with new tires on the trailer. Immediately I started joking with Kelly saying “Are we there yet?” He was laughing so hard it tickled me. The day went smooth despite the fact that Bo kept bouncing from lap to lap instead of staying in the back where he should. Kelly just wanted to hold my hand (which I loved) but Bo kept getting in between us. The next day we are about 5 hours into the drive and of course Kelly talking the entire time. I asked Kelly how we were doing on gas. He said “We’re low, we need to stop soon.” We passed exit after exit but he would stop. I was getting nervous at this point. All of a sudden, I saw this look. He looked at me and said “Don’t be mad, but we’re out of gas.” You’re kidding right? Here we are, on the side of the highway trying to flag someone down to stop. But know one would. This went on for about 20 minutes. No such luck. Then Kelly thought that the only option, at this point, was to unstrap the bike and ride down the highway to get gas. As soon as the bike was pulled out of the trailer, it started pouring down rain. Soaking wet, we put the bike back in the trailer and ran back to the truck. Honestly, I wanted to choke him because I kept telling him to pull over...... But I looked at him and said “Kell, you are one lucky guy because if it was anyone else but you, this would not be funny.” Then we started laughing till our stomachs hurt. Already wet, he decides to try again. This time with the power of pray on his side. Within one minute a trucker stops. Kelly ran up to the truck, hopped in and off they went. Kelly and the truck return about 40 minutes later with a gas can full of gas. Before the trucker left, Kelly insisted on paying the guy. He told Kelly that is was ok.

But when Kelly turned around to get some money out of our truck, the guy just waived and sped off. The smile of Kelly’s face was priceless. Once we got back in the truck he turned to me and said “See, Baby, the power of prayer really works. In deed it does. Trust in God for he will provide. That man truly amazed me with the love he had for God and everyone. He helped me through the toughest battle in my life in the short seven months we were together. I will cherish those memories forever and ever. He will be missed dearly.” - Keri Giardina-Cronin “Kelly was my Big Brother from another mother who I met at St Louis Family Church 14 1/2 years ago when I was about to commit suicide because I had cancer. There was no prognosis for me and Kelly gave me my first Christian Cd from Third Day. He always knew when I needed him, he knew when I was having surgery. Every Sunday or Friday night when he knew I would be at church, he would see me and signal how many seats to save him. He was always a great listener. I don’t know how I am going to make it without him it is still rough for me with my depression but I am trying really hard for him and keep putting flowers where he took his last breath and ride. Thank you” – Sheri Wells Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel. - Proverbs 27:9“And this passage in proverbs was exactly me and Kelly’s friendship......accountability partners if you will!!! I will miss my brother dearly as I know many of us will.....but the legacy our good brother left behind will be with us for a lifetime!! The funny stories......the sad stories..... the miraculous stories will always be very close to each of our hearts that we all shared with Kelly throughout our lives while he was here with us. And I know I can truly speak for many when I say he had a way about him through the gift of Jesus Christ to make each and every one of our hearts glad from the sweetness of his true friendship!! We will miss you brother but will never forget you my awesome friend!!! Can’t wait to see you again Love you forever bro” – Bevo “I believe God put Kelly in my life when I needed him most. I was a drug addict that saw no way out. Through Kelly’s jail ministry, and with the help of Frank O’Neal, he lead me back to our Lord and savior. After getting out of jail, we reconnected at St Louis Family Church where we became good friends who leaned on each other in our times of need. He was an amazing, confidant mentor and friend. He will truly be missed by me and many others. I take comfort in knowing I will see him again at the pearly gates!” – Shawn Moore As I mentioned before Kelly was a true disciple of Christ. That’s what he lived and that is what he believed. He also became an Ordained Minister because to him, it didn’t matter who you were or where you came from; he believes everyone could be saved. Kelly developed prison ministries where he would go just about every Sunday to different prisons and give a devotional. With his unconventional wisdom and ways, he would surely lead someone to Christ. He would talk to the inmates declaring; I’ve been where you are and I saw the light. You too can find salvation and peace. If you excepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you will have everlasting life. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

Here are some of Kelly’s favorite scriptures. Romans 10:9-10 - “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” John 3:16-18 - “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” Proverbs 3:5 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own Understanding.” Proverbs 11-25 – “A generous person will prosper; Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” “Good morning everybody. It’s time for the encouraging word of the day game. The word of the day is... Encourage... But before I get into that I want to say this... I hope this morning supposed to find everyone in good spirits and in good health... I’m actually doing this as I’m driving in this beautiful St Louis weather... And thinking of the weather I’ll be riding in shortly in the beautiful state of California. it’s nice to have family there and have a place to stay when I visit, tho it’s a bummer being so far because the visits are so far and few between. I’m looking forward to cruising up the Pacific Coast Highway. There is beautiful scenery and I will definitely send pics via Facebook... Onto the word of the day... Encourage. There was a particular man in the Bible that was down and out in spirit and being plagued with other things and scripture says that he encouraged himself... We can do the same. encourage means basically to bring courage to or to bring a hope that things will change... That’s one thing that stays constant and that’s the fact that things will always change... So if you’re in a season of challenge which I believe every one of us is in that mode daily because life is not for sissies... you can do this thing called life and the amazing thing is we can do it in abundance in Christ. I believe it’s John 10:10 that says the thief comes not but to steal kill and destroy but the second part of that scripture says and its Jesus they’re talking about it says but I have come to give you life and that life more abundant. I go through hardships everyday and I don’t like them but I am strengthened through them and I seek encouragement through God’s word and through prayer and true friends. and I receive that encouragement from all those things that I just listed. Just as I will encourage you now ...do not give up, do not give in; there is light at the end of the tunnel and there is life after drug addiction or divorce or health issues. Reminds me of an old Byrds song...I think it was the Byrds anyway and it was a song about seasons and how things turned and never stay the same, your issues will change also. Healing comes with time and prayer. even broken hearts can be mended. I know this for my heart has been broken several times yet the heart is an amazing organ and even more amazing is that Christ can live in a man or woman’s heart he does mine. I feel his presence daily. Those of you struggling should remember these initials T A G C... Just like Elvis Presley Had TCOB on a ring standing for taking care of business... TAGC stands for things are going to change... Believe that and receive that and trust that it is true... To my friends and family big hugs and to my princess hugs and bigger kisses! I have a news flash... super dog is going to California with us...this ought to be a trip that I won’t forget. Anyway God bless you all let’s go change the world and that little statement about always have your pets spayed or neutered. super dog told me to quit saying that he doesn’t wanna be fixed, so today I’m going to say leave your pet alone! Cya”-Kelly Roades

Kelly, you will be truly missed by so many people. We all take solace knowing that we will see you again. Until then, we know that you are looking down on us and continuing to pray for our salvation because that is what you do. We love you and miss you.
