It's Texas...in August...and the weather is about as predictable as a fart after eating at Taco Bell, but those are the things we have to deal with in this great state of ours. And this 2nd weekend in August did not disappoint, with fantastic weather for move in on Friday and the pre-show party Friday night things got a little sketchy for Saturday, but it held its wrath back and let it lose on Sunday dumping an inch of rain in about 30 minutes, but thankfully the grounds hadn't seen moisture in a very long while and quickly soaked up the wet stuff giving everybody the opportunity to get out with minimal stickage.. But enough about the weather we need to talk about the event and entrants that participated in this bad-ass show. The Texas Wake n Scrape show brings out plenty of kool rides and is a whos/who in the custom automotive industry. Ekstensive Metal Works (you know, the guys from Texas Metal) showed up with their rig and the Baja truck from last seasons show along with Ricky Rygaards badass Kodiak and Blue GMC, Carlos Zapata brought out "Lo Horn", the Simplicity Club was in full force, the guys from Nevrslo Motorsports brought out a contingent of their modified trucks, John Slice and #TknCopper where on hand, Team Billet does what they do when they show up at an event and thats bring the party and Naomi and Red Rum where also in attendance as well as a slew of others. But showing is not the only thing this event has to offer, with live music, burn-out and limbo contests, little grease and pin-up contest, tattooing and beer chugging going on there was something for just about everyone. Awards were held on Sunday inside the pavilion thanks to the weather, an aspect that makes this a unique event is the Club Unity awards were one club chooses an entrant from a different club to present an award to, really kool. Well I am outta room so that is it for this issue, hopefully we will see you next year here!
