Approximate time required 35 minutes. Learning goals Learn how to work with new materials and working with paper. Abilities developed Accuracy, creativity, preciseness, diligence, dexterity and fine motor skills.

Step-by-step instructions 1. Draw a fish tail, lips and fins on the construction paper and cut all of them off.

2. Now we are making pectoral fins. Take a little sheet of the construction paper and do an accordion fold. That means just fold a small bit and then down, up, down, etc. If any bit isn't big enough for a fold, cut it off and stop. Make these folds big enough so that you can later push the paper through the hole in the CDs and fix it there.

3. Set one CD down so the label is face up. Set all of the pieces on top of it to see where to glue and see if you need to move the pieces around. If everything is all right, start gluing each peace to the CD.

4. Once it is done squirt glue all over the bottom of first CD and place the second CD, label down, and push down on it hard, to flatten it out. Wait for several minutes.

5. Place the eyes where you want them, try to match them up so they aren't extremely off in position.

6. Push the accordion-folded paper (pectoral fins) through the hole in the middle of the CDs about halfway. Then spread the fins so they are fanned out in an upward direction.

To personalize your fish, you can add your personal touch on it. For example, with the help of the marker you can draw fish husk on the both CDs, or color the details of the fish in different colors. If you do not have googly eyes you can cut the eyes of the paper instead. It is possible to stick a lace to the fish in order to hang it somewhere. But in this case you would need the duplicate dorsal fin: after gluing the first one to the first CD, glue the lace and then on the top of it the duplicate dorsal fin. This way the lace will be hidden from one’s eyes.
