THE SEED OF HORGANIC PROJEC T
LEARNING WITH YOU, GROWING WITH YOU
Gardening and activities related to plants and nature have revealed especially beneficial for people with physical and mental disabilities. Learning how to take care of a garden helps to improve the quality of life of people with mental disorders.
Four training materials will be developed to suppor t the implementation of HORGANIC course: •
A MANUAL FOR THE TRAINERS, including complete description of gardening and hor ticulture didactic lessons and detailed information about the experiential methodology exercises suppor ting the new knowledge acquired.

A TEXTBOOK FOR THE LEARNERS, including all the gardening and hor ticulture sessions to help trainees to follow the teaching lessons.

A TEACHING DVD including practical examples that will help other organizations to implement the training in their centres. HORGANIC aims to be a seed that will grow in a lot of different places, creating a European green community.

A WEBSITE http://horganic.intras.es, being not only an informative media but also a suppor tive tool for trainers, learners and organisations involved in implementing the training.
HOW? By developing social skills, increasing their selfesteem, improving their memory and communication skills and promoting a healthy life in harmony with nature. This is what the HORGANIC project aims to achieve.
GARDENERS TAKING CARE OF HORGANIC Fundación INTRAS from Spain, OZARA d.o.o. from Slovenia, CJD from Germany and the Mental Health Center “Prof. N. Shipkovenski” from Bulgaria join efforts to develop didactical materials and test them with trainees suffering from mental illness in three different locations throughout Europe.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH HORGANIC?

The essential aim of this initiative is to establish an innovative model of gardening and hor ticulture training course specifically taught for sufferers from mental illness that will be complemented by an innovative experience -based methodology in order to develop or improve social and work-related skills.
