Raise your hand! Raise your hand if you care about early childhood! Raise your hand if you agree that investing in early childhood brings the highest social returns! Raise your hand if you believe that children from zero to five years of age deserve all our attention! Raise your hand if you agree that a child’s brain develops before he or she is five years old! Raise your hand if you believe children under five years of age have the right to access health services and nutritional programs! Raise your hand if you believe we must not remain indifferent to children begging on the streets! Raise your hand if you believe all children under five need to be loved! Raise your hand if you agree we should join efforts on behalf of the many underprivileged children who have no hope for a better future! Raise your hand for the more than 2 million children in Colombia under the age of five who suffer the consequences of poverty! Raise your hand!

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE HELP FOR CHILDREN FOUNDATION - SWITZERLAND
On behalf of our children in Colombia, we would like to express our gratitude to all of you, individuals and corporations, to take part in Be Part, our fourth Auction. We also thank from the depth of our heart all the artists who joined this mission by contributing their works of art, a reflection of their admirable talent! To all of our sponsors, our deepest thanks for supporting this event! We’re happy to say that through Be PART we’ve been able to join forces with people in Colombia, New York (USA) and Geneva (Switzerland) to once more make this dream a reality. This annual event allows us to support specific projects in our homes in Colombia. Please have a good look and enjoy every page of this catalog, bearing in mind that by “raising your hand’” to bid for one of these pieces of art on October 29th, you’ll be supporting hundreds of children under five years of age and their families. It’s their only hope for a better future! My warmest thanks to each one of you,
Hans Rudi Spillmann President
MESSAGE FROM H.E. María Emma Mejía Colombian Ambassador to the United Nations New York
Once again, Be PART joins the fundamental cause of education and protection of children between zero and six years old, who are living in vulnerable and risky social situations, by working with the foundation “Ayuda a la Infancia Hogares Bambi Colombia”. For years I've been involved in social projects, both public and private; this experience allows me to attest to the importance of the work that Bambi Homes does for Colombia. This Foundation joins the effort of our government through its program “Cero a Siempre” by prioritizing early childhood education as the primary step towards equity and development. At an international level, the foundation’s proposal encompasses the post 2015 United Nations agenda, which defines education and early childhood care as the main objectives for sustainable development during the next decades. We welcome all your support and solidarity

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN FRIENDS OF THE BAMBI HOMES NEW YORK
I am thrilled to present our fourth “Be Part” Art Auction, in association with Christie’s and our many partners and sponsors. Be Part is a joint effort between the Bambi Homes of Colombia, Fondation Aide Aux Enfants in Switzerland, and its U.S. fundraising arm, American Friends of the Bambi Homes Colombia. Bambi Homes Colombia takes in our most at-risk children, who live in an environment of abuse, neglect, family substance abuse, or conditions related to extreme poverty, such as malnutrition or other diseases. Parents are welcome to bring their children to Bambi Homes, where our caregivers, physicians, nurses, nutritionists, psychologists and social workers care for the children for as long as parents need to get back on their feet. We believe it is paramount to work with the parents, to help them get the education and training needed for sustaining their families. “Be Part” allows us to grow our operations and reach more children and their families each year. To date we have served over 13,000 children, and we care for approximately 900 children annually. We are delighted to present this year’s catalog, where our curators have selected unique pieces from select Colombian and Latin American artists. Thanks to the generosity of the artists, sponsors, buyers, donors and supporters, we expect “Be Part 2014” will bring smiles and better lives to hundreds of Colombian children. Thank you in advance - and raise your hand!
Ilana Levine President
For the past ten years, curators, art institutions and collectors from all over the world have revealed an increasing interest and awareness for Colombian art. Many factors have led Colombian contemporary art to have a wider range of exposure, thus, to be more recognized globally. These include the broad participation of our galleries in both international fairs and foreign galleries which represent Colombian artists; increasing interest from curators who are traveling to Colombia and inviting artists to important venues; frequent acquisitions of representative pieces by private collections and museums; a wider bibliography in English about Colombian art and, in general, a more active and professional art scene in the country. The selection we have made for this year’s version of the BE PART auction in New York City, aims to be a representative sample of the most prominent and current art in Colombia. It also includes some pieces by Latin American artists, whose work is cohesive with the rest of the pieces, creating an interesting and pertinent dialogue. In this edition of the auction, we have decided to offer the possibility of bidding for small tri-dimensional pieces in the silent auction. All but one, are unique pieces from both young and established artists. For the live auction most artworks are two-dimensional, although there are some sculptures. All of the pieces are the result of a detailed selection that seeks to show recent production of art in Colombia, combining techniques, tendencies and artist’s trajectories. You will find works from young artists with promising careers, as well as mid-career artists and established and well-known artists. Some of the artists included in the show might be more familiar for New Yorkers since, either they live here or their work is in a public museum, or because they exhibit frequently in spaces all over the city. Such is the case of Fanny Sanín, Luis Roldán, Carlos Motta, Álvaro Barrios, Miler Lagos, Emilio Chapela or Miguel Ángel Rojas, among others. We hope that the careful selection that we have prepared will respond to the interest of all collectors who support the Bambi Homes Colombia. We are delighted to contribute once more with this venue, and we are grateful towards all of the artists and their galleries for responding in such generous ways to our invitation.
