O’CHOCK! There’s nothing more relaxing for me than a good soak in the bath with my book, a glass of gin and a cheeky nibble!

I am a single mum to my nearly 9 year old daughter living in Southborough, Tunbridge Wells. I’ve been selling books for 4 years and am passionate about getting books into the hands of children. But I felt something was missing. As well as my daughter and books I love my friends, chocolate & gin. I realised that was the missing link – combining my 2 favourite treats together – It’s Gin o’Chock was born.
I came across Goupie as I was supporting Tunbridge Wells Fringe Festival running storytelling sessions hosted at the local Goupie Chocolate House. It was the first vegan chocolate I ever tried and I was hooked, so I applied to become an independent stockist. Furthermore, it is dairy free and gluten-free. It is devilishly moorish even my daughter is a huge fan! It comes in 16 flavours – NOT including the 3 Christmas varieties and it is handcrafted in Goudhurst.
Goupie’s ingredients are all ethically sourced. Using fair-trade Cocoa and RSPO certified palm oil, which is sourced from the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. Not only can they pinpoint the origin of each batch ensuring no deforestation occurs, they are also no-where near those lovely orang-utans. Even the packaging is eco-friendly as the box and labels are compostable, the dibs & dabs come packaged in either compostable bags or re-usable (& recyclable) tins. The Hot Chocolates are packaged in larger versions of these tins with compostable refill bags.
With 13 awards & accolades under their belt, including Winner of Taste Of Kent Sustainability Award 2021, Great Taste Producer & Guild Of Fine Foods Member to name but a few.
I am a huge advocate for supporting local businesses and wanted locally distilled gin and locally hand-crafted chocolate.
I first discovered Cantium Craft Gin at a Christmas event last year. Immediately I was drawn to the incredibly stylish looking bottle and was delighted when I was offered a sample to try. Deliciously smooth and flavoursome, it is produced using Kentish botanicals. I was blown away! The name Cantium derives from the Roman name which means Kent. It is the world’s first Gin presented in a reusable flask, once the gin has gone you can reuse it to keep drinks hot or cold for hours. The same thermos materials are used in the Cantium cup, which preserves the ice for longer. I even tested this in our recent heatwave with temperatures up to 35 degrees the ice stayed solid for over an hour in the Callux cup compared to a standard glass!
Cantium Gin is Multi Award Winning, with the most acclaimed award to date, winning the USA Spirits Gold Label and is Highly Commended in The Gin Guide Awards and many others. It is also one of the only Gins to be found on the shelves at Fortnum and Mason!
It is available in 2 flavours:
Primo: a London dry based gin with lavender, cobnuts, apples, blackberry, hops and roasted Kentish chestnuts, to give it a truly distinct flavour.
Rubesco: is the sweeter of the two gins with botanicals as Primo but with additional flavours of strawberry and raspberry-it smells divine.
