2017

From 2014 to today, I worked several persons and companies like Sizplus, Pana-Selimoğlu İnşaat, Birinci Basamak Sağlık Çalışanları Birlik ve Dayanışma Sendikası as graphic designer. I design logos, posters and I also did architectural rendering job from prepared project. I worked together with İzmir Institute of Technology Restoration Department on behalf of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Within the scope of the project, 15 late Ottoman period houses in Basmane, technical drawings were made. I worked construction as internship at the storage building made to Schenker Arkas. During the internship I learned all the details of the precast concrete system. In Hamitler Prestij Elit project I took part construction as internship. As 46 residential blocks were constructed within the scope of the project, I joined all applications in both fine and coarse workmanship. Throughout the office internship, I have been involved in more than one project in Sözüneri Mimarlık. I designed the computer model and some parts of the Bursa Marka mixed used building. I also helped to draw the project of the Mektebim School. In 39th Yahşibey workshop, I took a place as intern architect. We have studied on rural built environment in terms of economical, political and architectural aspect. Than I produced a project with my team partner in that direction. Next, we went to İstanbul to visit some building and worked in office. Along with Ahmet İğdirligil, we designed baths in Gümüşlük Academy in Bodrum with vernacular methods. We produced both conceptual and working drawing. In the process, a lot of information was learned on behalf of masonry structure and sustainability.

[stage] When I began this project, I rode a lot of sources about education and children. Then, I met John Dewey who is educational reformer. I rode his two articles which are “Education and Society” and “Education and Democracy”. In these articles, he states that, good education must be include four major topics these are construction, communication, express in finer form, inquiry. With these topics he mention drama. In this educational style, children learn with theater like playing in lesson. With these arguments, I design every spaces espacialy classrooms like a theatre scene. Than I create a lot of level and use much transperent materials to construct visual contanct every one when they are doing drama. As I said, our site contain very long tree that is mediterrian pine and huge granite rock. I don’t cut any tree and don’t explode any rock in place. I lift my ground floor(red platform) to 0.5 meters from earth and stick red platform to rock for exhibit rock like art thing and use rock itself for open drama space background like theater curtain. Using red color to enhance nature with contrast.

Education is a social process; education is growth; education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. JOHN DEWEY

refugee center project type : multi-purpose support center area: 8.000sqm

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) website states that “The latest figures available show that the number of refugees of concern to UNHCR in mid-2014 stood at 13 million refugees, up from a year earlier. The agency was founded in 1951 to support about one million people who could still not return to their homes after World War II and has been helping to find sustainable solutions for refugees and asylum seekers around the world. Turkey is on the crossroads to Europe and has long been an active passage for migrants and asylum seekers who legally or illegally want to go to European countries. Since the start of the conflict in Syria the refugee crisis in the world has assumed an unprecedented scale and its effects are being felt all around the country. Being one of the easiest spots to cross the Aegean to European Union territory, Izmir has been receiving

worldarchitecture 23rd cycle winner

an immense number of people who were displaced due to the Syrian civil war. This summer, the total number of people who had to come to Izmir due to the Syrian conflict is estimated about 400000, of which only 75000 are registered in the records of the Turkish Immigration Office. In the long and arduous journey towards a safe haven in Europe, asylum seekers are in dire need of support. Adults and children are under severe psychological and physical strain as they can hardly find adequate food and shelter, while they simultaneously try to heal the traumas of their displacement. In this project you will design a complex that will facilitate the support that is so preciously needed. In developing the project we will consult the experts of ASAM (Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrant, that works in association with the UNHCR in Izmir.

[border] My design concept about border in architectural and sociological term that is about between inside - outside and local people - refugees. Firstly, I tried to go beyond ordinary building form in the city that is totaly enclosure and massive. I designed openess building form that have unrecognizable boundary. I also did some pro-

ordinary city silhouette that has distinct border inside - outside

gramatical change. Ground floor of the building, I designed public spaces that is integrate refugee and local people in there. I called this space event space. First and second floor of the building service for refugees. Order of spaces was prepared for refugees needs. Service space is located underground.

dalaman project type : urban planning area: 120.000sqm urban planing studio project

We designed this project as a group with the students of the City Planning Department in our university. The project area was the Dalaman center region of MuÄ&#x;la. The project was about Dalaman’s economical development with alternative tourism. In line with this, we searched for potential tourist destinations and their potential tourist arrivals. Due to lack of technological investment in the region and strong international connections, we have developed a tourism fiction through Fablab. Within the scope of the project, 1/5000, 1/1000 and 1/500 plans were focused on. The program includes FoodLab, Techno Fablab, Green-Recycling-Fablab, the square and market area. The total area of the project is 120000 square-meters.

center for artistic activism project type : multi-purpose area: 14.000sqm

Cities are governed by long-term strategies, planned development practices, supply-oriented urban policies for the reproduction of capital, not for demand and demand estimates of different segments of society, but for rent-focused urban projects and urban expansion and transformation processes required by these policies. During the period from the early modern period to the Keynesian economy period, the city was developed as the site of the reproduction of labor by capitalism. In this period, the city has shaped with industrial activities. They have been cities shaped by the choice of place. In the neoliberal economy period, while neoliberal urbanization strategies such as “competitiveness”, “attracting investment”, “brand cities”, “urban marketing” and “gentrification” are brought to the forefront, the role and regulatory mechanisms of the capitalist state are redefined in

order to implement these strategies Is being configured. Reproduction force as urban term is very strong word that involve very complicated political and capital relations, large-scale bureaucratic and intitutionalize administrave organization, power of cultural hegemony etc. Cultural hegemony “is hegemonic only if those affected by it also consent to and struggle over its common sense”. Consent is learned by educational and cultural system of capitalisim. Resistance force aganist to reproduciton force must be pierce into cultural hegemony. People have to realise this learned notions and their chains. After that they can be part of resistance as conscious individual. For this awareness, urban interfere have to be based upon praxis philosophy. These praxis discourse come to one’s feet with artistic activism.

museum project type : museum area: 15.000sqm competition project

At the beginning of the design process, we thought about site conditions. Around the site, there are lots of historical buildings that are built in different times. All of these buildings, reflect their periods of architecture and their design is related to their functions. In these case, our design have to reflect our times of architecture with its shape but its material -stone- is quite same the historical buildings because we want to reflect our times and also not to break off the relation between the proposal and the site. Another decision is about usage of the site. There are two old gaswork buildings and one gaswork tower. Rest of the site is empty. Our design proposal covers all the site. We prepare an architectural program to come true this idea. We divide the program into four parts that are main museum building, education areas, studios and open air spaces. Main museum building includes

entrance spaces, administration units, exhibition spaces, a storage and services. Education part obtains a theater, a library, multipurpose spaces, studios and an achieve. Studios has model making studios and cafes. Open air part includes open air exhibition spaces, a street activity space and a recreation space. All of these parts stay on the site separately. Most of these spaces are underground to create big public spaces on the ground level. Near the main museum buildings, we designed a square that is surrounded by sloped surfaces. It works like an amphitheater but it provides more activity options than an amphitheater. These surfaces also create very interesting spaces in exhibition areas. On the another hand we also care designing bicycle road that spread almost everywhere on the site and we restorate the old buildings and put open air exhibition spaces in there.
