PATHWAYS PROGRAM

Many universities offer engaged learning options and an opportunity to meet with a career counselor. Furman has this and something no other school in the nation offers – Pathways, the nation’s only twoyear program required for all first-year and sophomore students. Pathways is designed to help you transition to college, develop your interests and build confidence in your choices during your Furman journey and beyond . THE BACKBONE OF THE FURMAN ADVANTAGE.

FIRST YEAR

During weekly meetings with your Pathways class, advisor and peer mentor, you’ll focus on making the most of your first year while honing your time management, effective study strategies, stress management and other invaluable skills. You’ll also build a foundation of self-awareness and reflection, helping you learn who you are, what you value and where your interests lie.

SECOND YEAR

Building upon year one, this Pathways course encourages you to think about how to integrate your academics, your engaged learning experiences such as study away, research and internships, and your career goals. You’ll build a resume, have an informational interview with an alumnus and develop other basic career skills, too.
