Q: For those who usually keep their look pretty neutral, what’s the key to using colour?

A: Start small and with something familiar, like eyeliner, a bold lip or bright eyeshadow. Keep everything else minimal for maximum impact.

Q: What products do you use?

A: It depends on the look and wear I want to achieve. But I love the Makeup Forever Aqua XL Color Paint range – you can blend it out as an eyeshadow or do some amazing linear/block work with it. The bonus is it won’t budge.

Q: How do you ensure it all stays in place?

A: You won’t have any issues with colours moving with the Aqua XL Color Paint. If you’re using creams, powder will help to set them in place. I find looking for longwear products is the best option.

Q: Is there anything that should be avoided?

A: Unless you are going to be on top of touch-ups, try to avoid anything too glossy on the lids. Mixing glossy colours on the eyes can be high maintenance as the colour will shift in the creases.

Q: Should we be picking hues based on our eye colour?

A: Green eyes look amazing with purple and rose golds, while brown eyes look great with greens, blues and copper bronze tones. Blue eyes suit coral, peaches and bronze golds. But when it comes to statement makeup, wear what you like.

Q: What are the best tools to use?

A: You’ll want a small, synthetic foundation brush to apply the colour.

Q: Any final tips?

A: Don’t over think it! Swoop colour back and forth across the eye for an uneven paintbrush effect.
