Gwydion Rozitisolds
Hi I am Gwydion, and I am proud to be running for General Council Member with Grassroots.
I am running because I want to see a student council that is progressive, environmentalist and activist.
I have spent time both in and outside the Uni, and I can say with certainty that the university works best for students when the university reflects the students. The job of the student council, then, is to stand up to University management, and ensure our values and needs are on the agenda.
We need a student council that is willing to question why students are being charged exorbitant amenities fees for access to lectures recorded years ago. We need to ask why, when so many colleges have been forced to cut staff, management are earning million dollar salaries. We need a student council that is willing to stand against a University that receives funding from weapons manufacturers and polluters.
Vote [1] Grassroots to have your voice heard on student council.

My name is Janageeth and I am running for General Council Member with UNITE. UNITE is a passionate and diverse team of experienced student leaders, who ensure your needs are listened to and heard.
UNITE stands for: • Expanding financial support for students during the cost of living crisis. • Bringing back life on campus through clubs and events • Ensuring that all students are safe when arriving, leaving, or on campus. • Improving teaching quality and student voice in Academic Affairs • Increasing support for International Students • Ending Deadnaming on Campus and taking REAL action on Queer Issues
I am passionate about advocating for International Students. I have experienced firsthand the financial difficulties, homesickness, and many other challenges that international students go through. It is definitely not easy.
Therefore, if I am elected to the student council, I will advocate for building a better support system, tailored academic and financial support for International Students and to celebrate the journey of international students with INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WEEK.
I hold numerous positions within the International Student space including the International Student Ambassador for Flinders University, a Student Ambassador for StudyAdelaide and a Flinders University International Students As Partners (FISAP) member. I have excelled in the roles above and I am sure, I can advocate more for International Students if I am elected to the FUSA student council.
It’s time the FUSA Council focused on making sure that all students get a fair go no matter race, cultural background, sexuality, gender or religion.

Hey Flinders students!
I am Jess Trezona and I am a (Secondary) Education student and am excited to be running to be your 2023 FUSA General Council Member with the Activate team!
I am passionate about providing educational opportunities to students and developing skills and knowledge both within personal and professional capacities. I am dedicated to promoting and resourcing First Nations communities and events, improving accessibility, and promoting students’ health and wellbeing support services. I believe student wellbeing is crucial to our success at university and I will work to improve the Flinders University experience.
I will use my community experiences with groups like the Flinders University Education Students Association and position at my Surf Life Saving Club to further my goals of using the exponential impact of education and the power it has to transform communities.
Being a student is tough in so many ways, so I will ensure students get the most out of university by improving student awareness of and engagement with Flinders services and events while continuing to improve upon these resources, so they work for students!

Hi Flinders! I’m Danielle and I’m running for General Council with Activate. I’m currently studying a combined Bachelor of Behavioural Science and Computer Science.
Student life is becoming increasingly challenging and more can be done to combat this trend. I will challenge The University to keep a student-centred approach in their work and ensure including student voices are the priority in decision making.
I have previously worked as a Student Ambassador for Flinders University and volunteered in the O’guide program. I’m passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experiences for students.
I will use my experience to create more inclusive social events and help strengthen students services to work for students. I want to work and incorporate your voice into everything at Flinders University to ensure your voice is represented.

Hi Flinders! My name is Bree Elliott and I’m running to be a General Council Member with Activate! I’m currently in my third year of the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Bachelor of Letters in French.
Through my experience of working in schools for 4 years, I understand and value the importance of providing a safe environment that accommodates all students, and how an inclusive, supportive environment can impact students’ learning experience, growth and wellbeing.
While Flinders University currently has a number of initiatives and campaigns which bring awareness to issues faced by students, there is a lack of actual support against the issues that harm and discriminate against students on a regular basis. This can be seen in the difficult processes involved for students to change their name in the university systems. This prevents students from using their actual, current name as their name on the system, leading to repeated discrimination by staff.
As a General Council Member, I will create the safe environment the students of Flinders University deserve, so that all students can enjoy uni life and make the most out of their uni experience. I will advocate for marginalised students, work towards promotion awareness initiatives, and improved support for students at an individual level.
Most importantly, I will listen to the student body and work to achieve the change that you all want to see.

My name is KuangFu or Kevin Chao, and I am running for the general council member position under the UNITE student organisation. As an international student with a few years of experience studying at Flinders as a health science and physiotherapy student, I have many insights into what the student body desires that can enhance the overall learning experience for everyone. UNITE is made of a multi-cultural, diverse team that can represent everyone equally regardless of differences in culture, sexuality, gender, or religion. With experience living in Taiwan and America, I can relate to the struggles international students have, especially in their first year of studying in a completely different country. With my insights into the transition to a new environment, I believe I can make the most practical contribution to improving the overall living and learning experience of all Flinders students. In addition, I have also had experience in representing or organising a body of students. To list a few, I was vice-captain on my high school basketball team, a vice-president of the Flinders health science club, and an international representative on the house committee of the Flinders’ hall student accommodation. To ensure future students’ transition to Flinders is not as challenging, I want to be elected as a general council member. This position would allow me to relay the struggles and concerns of students to the school directly. As a result, more changes through policies would be structured in favour of the students to address their issues.

Hello Flinders! My name is Vasil Samardzhiev and I’m running to be a General Council Member with Activate!
I’m currently studying Bachelor of International Relations & Political Science, with a strong connection to FUSA and the broader Flinders community!
I am a skilled advocate and community builder volunteering with UN Youth SA and Debating SA. I have experience) running complex events centred around empowering the voices of young people.
I pride myself in helping deliver the Grab’n’Go food stalls initiative (bridge it somehow) to help combat students who go without meals and resources to ensure students are supported in their day-to-day student experience
I am committed to using these skills to empower the Flinders community to help students overcome the increasingly challenging post-pandemic experience. I’ll work with the Activate team to transition away from unnecessary tests and exams and group assignments that do not reflect the best way to assess skills. I will oppose any cuts to our education and fight to get our assessment and feedback back on time and our exam dates released with enough time to prepare.
As a student from a diverse ethnic background, I share many similar experiences with international students and the opportunities and connections not offered to them. I will advocate for unconditional inclusion in all student-centered activities. International students contribute greatly to the University and in turn, the University should uplift their voices.
It is my vision that the University delivers the quality of education that students deserved.

Hey Flinders!
My name is Lucas, and I am entering my 3rd year in a Social Work degree.
I’m thrilled to announce that I will be running again to continue my work as one of your 2023 FUSA General Council Members with the Activate team!
I have been a long-term advocate for students as the President of the Flinders University Social Work Association (FUSWA). These roles, coupled with my own academic journey, have exposed me to the diverse range of student support systems and the complexities faced by students across all year, and degree pathways.
Social inclusion, student engagement and student well-being are my key areas of focus, with FUSA and FUSWA providing me opportunities to create cross discipline collaborations with other Flinders Clubs and Associations.
I intend on continuing this work by strengthening these collaborations in 2023, to include student-based activities focusing on building an inclusive, cohesive, and socially diverse student community that extends beyond Flinders. This can expose students to disciplines and opportunities not only within Flinders, but across the broader community.
Drawing on personal integrity, life experiences and willingness to watch people shine, provides me the foundations to achieve this and help students thrive.
As a General Council Member, I am committed to student well-being and believe that the connections we make in our academic journey can last well beyond graduation.

As a General Council Member my goal would be to develop some form of training for club and association leadership to better help them run clubs. I have experience in leadership positions in clubs such as the Tabletop “Und” Role Play Enthusiasts, Academic Science Club and Undead Poets and Writers Society. These have given me vital experience in organizing projects and events.

My name is James Rothe and I am running to be your General Council Member with UNITE. UNITE is a passionate and diverse team of students, ready to ensure your needs are heard.
UNITE stands for: - Expanding financial support for students during the cost of living crisis - Reviving campus life with more events and clubs - Securing your safety as students at Flinders - Improving teaching quality and student voice in academic affairs - Increasing and improving support for International Students - Ending deadnaming on campus and taking REAL action on Queer Issues
WHY AM I RUNNING? As students grapple with the cost of living crisis, it should be the job of student representatives to ensure the financial stresses on students are eased. Many of us work jobs alongside our studies, some struggling to make ends meet, whilst trying to save for the weekly rent or the next night out.
As a General Council Member, one way I will fight to reduce these financial burdens is by campaigning to reduce the cost of carparking, because nobody should pay hefty sums of money just to access their education. I will also campaign for the introduction of free printing across campus, because student’s shouldn’t be forking out extra money when they pay plenty in fees and degrees already.
Furthermore, I hear too often of the lack of support and neglect our fellow International Students feel. WE MUST DO BETTER by strengthening and improving the networks available to help students at Flinders.
ACTIVATE and the current FUSA council have neglected the needs of students for too long. Now is the time for change.
A vote for UNITE and JAMES ROTHE as your General Council Member, is a vote for a fairer future.

I’m running for Welfare Officer and General Council Member. This year, I was the only UNITE member and one out of two non-ACTIVATE members on Council as a General Council Member. I’m going to fight for expanding financial support for Flinders Student. YOU need CHEAPER PARKING! The Cost of Living is going up and parking prices for students are too high. FUSA should advocate for students by seeking reduced parking prices, especially on university board. If elected, I will fight for lower parking prices. FUSA is meant to advocate for students, not be a signature for the university board. In my opinion, ACTIVATE have ignored the needs of students for too long. I’m Lachlan White and I’m fighting for you on Council.

Hi, I’m Maddy Tapley and I’m running for General Council Member with Left Action.
Students can’t afford to negotiate with those who profit from environmental destruction and war. Did you know that the Chancellor was the Chairman of Santos? And that a representative for weapons company BAE Systems sits on the Flinders University governing council? I'm going to put up a fight for students and I want you to join me.
Left Action is a team of socialist activists. We stand against racism, sexism and LGBTI+ oppression, imperialism, war, the exploitation of workers and environmental destruction. We are actively involved in organising campaigns like the abortion rights demonstrations in solidarity with the struggle to defend Roe v Wade, Black Lives Matter protests, and Uni Students for Climate Justice.
We are fighting to:
- Take real action on climate change! The university must cut all ties with climate and war criminals. No defence and fossil fuel bosses on our uni council, and no research partnerships with them either! - Stand in solidarity with Palestine, and all other victims of imperialism. Our uni must cut all ties with the Israeli apartheid state, and open its doors to house refugees here. - Demand a living wage and fight the rich and powerful! We stand in solidarity with striking workers defending their slipping living standards amid an inflation crisis while billionaires rake in record profits. - Defend our education! No more expensive youtube uni and no staff cuts! We want to fight the degree factory, slashing the vice-chancellor’s $1.2 million salary (!) and using every dollar to save staff jobs and student services. - Bring traditions of solidarity and radicalism back to FUSA. Student associations should be collective left-wing bodies that organise students to fight injustice and oppression, on and off campus.

Hi, I’m Jacob and I’m running for General Councillor with Left Action.
I believe that our university should be run as a public institution for education. However, our university has an ex-Chairman of Santos and a representative for weapons company BAE System sitting the council, the governing body of the university. These people only have profits in mind and so we must fight for our own interests.
