Preiss Murphy English® KG utilizes accessible language, colorful illustrations, and activities to assist in visual understanding and comprehension of the language presented. The program motivates students through current and proven practices for language acquisition and development, with a special focus on the communicative approach. Early literacy skills are fostered through rhymes and chants, and a carefully graded approach to reading develops fluency through listening, prereading strategies, repetition/acting out, and answering comprehension questions. A typical unit is themed and begins with a set of commonly used vocabulary words within the theme. These words are repeated throughout the unit so that students get used to hearing and seeing them in the correct context, which builds students’ confidence and fluency. Pre-reading and writing skills are also inserted within the unit’s theme to facilitate comprehension and consolidation. Each unit offers multiple opportunities to practice the language and skills learned. Join Sam, Sally, and Miss Buttercup as they embark on an adventure and discover how easy and fun the English language can really be!
