Management, educators and tutors Director: Jaime Gude. Responsible for the management and organisation of the Residence. The educators are responsible for the academic and personal supervision of the student outside the school classroom hours. They hold regular interviews with both tutors and professors to exchange information about their studies, life at the residence and the study plan of their tutees. The record of these interviews allows for student evolution to be ascertained, as well as for follow-up of the educational strategies. Tutors undertake responsibility for the academic and personal supervision of the student within the School. The educators and tutors, in direct contact with the students, are responsible for regular communication with parents throughout the school term. During term time they will be in continuous and fluent communication with families to ensure each student achieves the best academic and personal results.
Communication School-student Educator-student interviews: these are personal interviews scheduled during the tutorship times of the Residence. All of the student’s day-to-day matters both at School and in the Residence are discussed. School-family During the educator’s working hours, time is set aside for either personal or telephone interviews with families. The interview times are assigned during the first month of the academic year. At the start of each term, the Residence Blog (residenciasek-elcastillo.blogsek.es) will publish: Programme of extracurricular activities: visits, exhibitions, theatre performances, sports events, etc., to take place during weekdays or in weekends Dining hall service (menus) Dates and school acts of particular importance No school days Student-family Students may receive calls at the Residences, from Monday to Friday, at the times communicated at the start of the academic term.
5 Organisation The resident student’s educational process is characterised by a continuation in the Residential facilities of the work done during the school day.
Study times are assigned and the activities determined by the student’s personal and academic track record and are revised on each assessment.
Academic Activity The academic activity which takes place during the school day is complemented after school at the Residence through the Arts and Sciences Labs. These bring together groups of 5 or 6 students with teachers specialised in the Study Plan subjects. They tackle assignments, expand on topics or revise the most difficult areas. This work system individualises the effort required by academic activity. Targeted studies are guided by the educator of each group. Students do group or individual work, using the specialised spaces: classrooms, libraries, computers, smartboards, etc. This study time takes place daily with the goal of establishing a regular study habit that allows students to meet their academic commitments. Sports and cultural activities Sports Schools and Activities Sports activity is a key element of the SEK International Schools model, with high-level competition teams, daily sports activity and collaboration with the most prestigious sports entities. The best example of this is that in the Residences, students from the SEK Top Competition Schools of Tennis and Swimming live together and make study compatible with sports at the highest national and international level. From 17.30 on, guided by teachers and specialists in the various sports disciplines –listed in the overall diagram–, students can begin, practice or perfect their favourite sports at SEK-El Castillo School facilities and at UCJC Sports Club (formerly Club SEK): tennis, paddle tennis, swimming, aerobics, fitness, aerodance... The possibility of drawing up individual timetables means that students can make the Mens sana in Corpore Sano motto come true.

Practical Information Uniform and equipment It is compulsory for students to have a sufficient amount of required garments for use from Monday to Friday. The laundry service is weekly. At weekends and on holidays, all students will wear casual clothes which must have a style in line with that of SEK International Schools. Apart from their uniform and personal clothing, students must also bring pyjamas, bath and swimming pool towels, bathrobe, bathroom slippers and toiletry bag. Each resident student is assigned an identification number for their clothes by the Secretary’s Office when enrolling which will be kept throughout their stay at the Residence. To prevent loss or mix-ups, this number must be sewn or embroidered (not stuck) on each of the garments, and on the personal laundry bag. In order to send clothes to the laundry, the use of a personal laundry bag identified with the same number as that used for the clothes is required (two bags are recommended). To use this service, students must include a list of the clothes to be washed in the bag and this list must match the number and description of the garments sent. A sewing service is available for those garments that form part of the School uniform. Pocket Money Boarders are only allowed the money corresponding to their weekly allowance, agreed with their parents at the moment of enrolment. This allowance, given to them on Fridays, may be withdrawn any other day of the week for a justified cause. It will always amount to the maximum amount stipulated, with the exception of express family authorisation altering this amount, notified in writing and sufficiently in advance. Replacement of funds and contributions to the student account can be made directly in the School Administration Office or via bank transfer. In both cases, the amounts lodged must be a minimum of 100 E.
Internal regulations
11
During their stay at the School or in the Residence, as well as during activities both in and out of the Centre, including journeys on the School buses, the SEK International Schools Boarder Regulations are applicable.
Our Style
Each individual and group has their own style. In SEK International Schools, we also have our own way of being and behaving, based on the ethical and aesthetic approach to our reality. This approach is reflected in our Internal Regulations. Below we have listed some external expressions that are the opposite of our style: Regular lack of academic performance. Late arrival, lack of attendance and, particularly serious, departures from the School or the Residences without the necessary authorisation and communication. Offensive words, gestures and actions towards classmates, teachers and auxiliary staff, or their beliefs, ideas, cultures and customs. Disrespect towards male or female classmates for reasons of sex, age, ideology, culture... Arbitrary use of the school uniform: inappropriate footwear, excessively short skirt, unauthorised outdoor clothing... Appropriation or misuse of objects belonging to classmates, of the materials and the installations of the School or the Residence. Adoption of fashions that clash with the school context or are openly provocative within the School: use of earrings, long or shaved hair, tattoos, beard or moustache, piercing... Tobacco consumption in School or Residence premises, or induction to consume, are also considered serious faults. Possession or consumption of alcohol and drugs are causes of immediate expulsion from the School and the Residence. Ethical behaviour, which demands sensibility and respect toward those around us, and correct appearance, which is necessary to create a serene and agreeable environment, are the coordinates that should guide our behaviour, over and above rules and prohibitions.
SEK-El Castillo Residence
Style is the outer expression of personality. It is what distinguishes us. It implies self-control, coherence, elegance and intelligence. It makes an authentic and enriching coexistence possible.
