“The moment is now. We are ready to go!” Yuki Kusumi, group CEO of Panasonic Holdings Corporation, emphatically told attendees at the CES 2025 opening keynote Tuesday morning.
“Technology moves ahead at an amazing pace, so it’s important that we be intentional in our work,” he said. “We all know that our current systems and practices are not sustainable — not for the planet and not for the health of its people. Professionally and personally, I want to do everything I can to make sure that my children, grandchildren, and future generations can enjoy a healthy environment.”
Kusumi was joined onstage by actor Anthony Mackie throughout the keynote as the duo shared Panasonic’s vision for a more sustainable earth through responsible technology creation and use.
“Our time together is not about today, it is about the future,” said Mackie. “From a simple socket a century ago to an organization that is advancing wellness around the world, Panasonic is building solutions to ensure that our planet and our global society can thrive.”
During Kusumi’s keynote, Panasonic announced Panasonic Go, a global corporate growth initiative that promotes business transformation using AI. Kusumi announced that 30% of Panasonic HD’s revenue will be

AI is everywhere at this year’s CES 2025. But at the “Tech Trends 2025: Explore What’s New & Next in Emerging Technology” conference presented by Deloitte, the focus was on the urgency and the best ways to deploy AI at the enterprise level, and on how spatial and quantum computing is and will continue to transform corporate IT.
“[There are] more and more CEO conversations about the investments needed to be made and hardware to fuel the tech trajectory that we know is coming in the next decade,” explained conference moderator Bill Briggs, CTO of Deloitte Consulting. For product development, spatial can be deployed
represented by AI-driven hardware, software, and solution businesses by 2035, propelling Panasonic Group from its hardware roots to a dynamic AI-powered ecosystem that integrates cutting-edge software and hardware at the forefront of the connected revolution.
Yoky Matsuoka, executive officer, Panasonic Group and CEO of Panasonic Well, excitedly announced Umi, a holistic digital family wellness AI platform and coach developed with Anthropic as part
of a new global partnership designed to assist busy families of all kinds care for their children, aging parents, and themselves.
“Modern families need help!” enthused Matsuoka. “In fact, the U.S. Surgeon General recently issued an advisory on the well-being of parents…and when parenting has an advisory label like a pack of cigarettes, we know we’re in a crisis that demands our attention.”
Panasonic also announced OASYS, a complete solution to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) that offers unrivaled comfort, cleaner air, and lower energy demand. Kusumi and others highlighted Panasonic’s efforts to drive sustainability in the supply chain, EV space, and renewable energy with Panasonic HX.
“This work is not just about measurement, it’s about innovation and empowering customers, industries, and investors to accelerate,” said Peter Bakker, president & CEO of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. “Decarbonization and innovation collaboration is the key to success. We all need to work together to fully integrate sustainability into our innovation agenda and actions so we can make it the foundation of economic growth and resilience. Panasonic’s commitment to sustainability and its vision for an ideal society can serve as a guiding example.”
to bridge the gap between the physical and the virtual. “There’s a ton of opportunity to optimize how these industries leverage these types of technologies to change the way they operate and improve,” noted David Randle, Amazon Web Services’ worldwide head of spatial computing.
All the conference panelists agreed that enterprise AI, spatial, and quantum computing is still in its infancy. “There’s still so much trepidation in the market,” warned Amit Ahuja, SVP for Adobe’s Experience Cloud Products. “We’re still largely in the phase of ex-
perimentation. What data am I using, what do you do with my data? You’re creating all this content — how do I make sure it’s on brand?”
“We’re calling it Y2Q,” Briggs advised. “We’re seeing a looming sword of Damocles. We’re going to have to invest to update the public and private key encryption schemes we’ve been using in all our systems and all our customer-facing products over the last several decades, because quantum will make that, frankly, irrelevant. It’s coming without the hard [Y2K] deadline. It’s real and we need to start now.”

Gary Shapiro, CEO and Vice Chair of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), welcomed CES attendees to the State of the Industry keynote address on Tuesday with a rousing call to action.
“These days it feels like everyone is pivoting,” Shapiro told attendees. “Progress has never come from standing still. It comes from those who took a chance and tried something new. As humans, we’ve done this over and over — pivoting and innovating to survive and thrive. And that’s especially true in the rapidly evolving world of technology where we have to adapt or become obsolete. Pivot or die!”
“At the end of the day, technology matters because it helps millions of people around the world,” enthused Kinsey Fabrizio, President of CTA. “And it’s far from replacing people. Technology empowers them! Think about AgTech which helps farmers make better decisions about the crops they plant and augmented reality glasses that provide real-time language translation. And how about cybersecurity tools that are helping us protect ourselves and our data? From AI to robotics and health care and sustainability, CES 2025 shows what’s possible when the entire tech ecosystem comes together in one place.”
Never one to shy away from taking a stand when it comes to making “Tech for All” a reality, CTA has pushed forward and encouraged governments around the world to enact policies that foster innovation.
“Each year at CES we see that innovation can come from anyone, anywhere,” said Shapiro. “But for good ideas to become great, product innovators need pro-
innovation policies. To keep our economies thriving and inflation in check, we need policies that enable startups, allow businesses to flourish, and create the next generation of tech leaders. [We need] policies that create rules of the road for tech companies and offer guardrails to protect safety, privacy, and fairness.
“Here in the U.S., that means finding a way to break through the gridlock and pass sensible immigration reforms to promote highly skilled immigration and recognizing that tariffs are taxes paid for by American businesses and the American people and the world.”
Research recently released by CTA during the CES Tech Trends presentation shows the proposed tariffs on tech products “could tank U.S consumer purchasing power by as much as $143 billion in just the first year.”
CTA also honored this year’s Innovation Champions, a prestigious award based on the 2025 Global Innovation Scorecard that measures the political, economic, and demographic factors that foster innovation. Seventy-four countries and the European Union across 16 categories and 56 metrics were evaluated, making it the most comprehensive analysis to

Erkki Keldo, Minister of Economy and Industry, Estonia; Leena-Kaisa Mikkola, Ambassador of Finland to the United States; Dr. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister of Justice and Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, Germany; Dirk Beljaarts, Minister of Economic Affairs, The Netherlands; Ebba Busch, Minister for Energy, Business and Industry and Deputy Prime Minister, Sweden; and Ralf Heckner, Ambassador of Switzerland to the United States
CTA also announced its continued support and investment of the Innovation for All Fund, pledging to invest an additional $5 million in 10 venture capital firms that support women, people of color, veterans, and other underrepresented entrepreneurs.
“Even as we embrace new things, some technologies and companies thrive long term, like the bicycle invented before any of us were born,” concluded Shapiro. “It’s been reinvented over the years to become the e-bike. That kind of agility is what I hope all the companies, entrepreneurs, and innovators can embrace here at CES 2025 because CES is where the future is made.”

The audio market has witnessed sweeping transformation over the last 15 years. Streaming platforms are providing access to millions of songs, hardware innovations are making audio devices central to everyday life, and more people are listening to music than ever before. But there’s a problem.
Sales of audio products are soaring, as consumers prioritize accessibility and ease of use. Long gone are the days of carrying a CD-loaded Walkman with just 15 tracks at your fingertips. Today, almost any song ever recorded is just a tap away.
However, this convenience has come at a big cost to consumers. As audio becomes more accessible, quality has fallen dramatically. And efforts to improve the listening experience, such as Hi-Res audio, have largely been confined to audiophiles. These enthusiasts are willing to navigate the complexities of ensuring high-quality playback across source files, transmission and output devices.
But for the average listener, this level of effort is both impractical and unappealing, leaving most consumers with sub-par audio experiences.
However, everything is about to change. A new wave of technologies is emerging, which promises to close the gap between high-quality audio and seamless convenience. Technologies like Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE), Auracast and flexible rendering solutions are revolutionizing the audio landscape, delivering better sound without building usability barriers.
BTLE is one of the most significant advancements in wireless audio. Powered by the LC3 codec, it doesn’t achieve fully lossless audio, but it does offer a more efficient compression algorithm, delivering far higher-quality sound at lower bitrates. This means consumers can enjoy richer, clearer audio without increasing data consumption or compromizing battery life, which is a key selling point for portable devices like earbuds and speakers.
Additionally, BTLE significantly reduces latency compared to classic Bluetooth, making wireless audio a viable option for gaming and video streaming, where wired connections have long been the preferred choice.
Auracast, a companion technology to BTLE, adds to the wireless audio experience, allowing a single audio source to broadcast to multiple devices simultaneously. This enables shared listening experiences and improves accessibility. As an example, users can seamlessly share music or podcasts with friends or connect multiple speakers for a synchronized multi-room system.
Crucially, unlike previous wireless audio advancements, BTLE and Auracast are poised for widespread adoption. Major system-on-chip (SoC) vendors, such as Qualcomm, are already embedding these technol-

ogies into their hardware, ensuring they will become standard features in the majority of future wireless audio products. Plus, consumers need no additional understanding and effort to reap the benefits of BTLE, making better audio quality accessible to everyone.
In the home audio space, flexible rendering technologies like Dolby Atmos FlexConnect and Fraunhofer UpHear are redefining the listening experience. Traditionally, home theatre setups required careful speaker placement to achieve optimal sound,
often discouraging consumers due to the complexity and effort involved.
These new systems remove that barrier. Flexible rendering calibrates and optimizes audio, based on the placement of speakers, regardless of where they are in the room. As a result, consumers can add as many or as few speakers as they like, and the system will quickly and seamlessly recalibrate to deliver the best possible sound experience.
This modularity not only simplifies the home theatre experience. It also allows consumers to easily add new speakers from friends or family into their Bluetooth listening experience.
The critical difference with these new technologies is that they require no compromize between quality and convenience. Consumers have consistently demonstrated a preference for ease of use over high fidelity, but now they can enjoy both. Whether through enhanced wireless audio performance or adaptable home theatre systems, these advancements align perfectly with modern lifestyles.
With this seamless blend of convenience and performance, the future of personal and home audio has never looked or sounded better.

While it’s still early days for quantum technology, what once seemed like science fiction is now on the brink of transforming industries and everyday life. But did you know there are three distinct kinds of quantum technology? Let’s dive into this exciting field and understand what makes it so revolutionary.
Quantum technology uses properties of quantum mechanics to enable new and improved networking,
Stepping back at CES 2019, IBM unveiled its System One device, the first circuit-based commercial quantum computer.
The basic unit of quantum information is the qubit. Researchers are working with several different core types of qubits – all are under development and have different projected advantages for different kinds of problems.
• Trapped Ions
• Cold Atoms
• Superconducting Qubits
• Photonic Qubits
• Solid-State Qubits
• Topological Qubits
computing and sensing. These properties can be difficult to work with and may require production at very low temperatures in a process known as cryogenics, special shielding and error correction. But the projected benefits are significant, and many companies (including CES exhibitors) are working in this space.
Now on to the three major emerging market sectors, each of which harness different quantum properties to address specific challenges and open new possibilities.
Quantum Computing stores information using qubits rather than the bits of current “classical” computing. Where a traditional computing “bit” is either one or zero, and never both, a qubit can hold multiple states simultaneously. The power of these structures allows quantum computers to do more with a few dozen qubits than the most powerful classical computers — for the right kinds of problems.
Quantum communications harness the principles of quantum mechanics to secure information in ways that classical systems cannot. One of the most promising applications is quantum key distribution (QKD), which allows for the secure distribution of encryption keys. Unlike traditional methods, QKD sends information using quantum states with properties like entanglement or superposition.
One way to thinking about quantum computing is an accelerator that speeds up certain steps in classical computing or helps find an optimal solution to a complex problem.
Hybrids of quantum and high-performance computing, and of quantum and AI/ML, will be important in finance, chemistry, materials, logistics and more. Early commercial solutions are emerging from R&D and extremely powerful solutions are expected in the early 2030’s.
It’s physically impossible to eavesdrop on such data without disturbing these properties, so QKD ensures that any attempt to intercept the key will be detected, making the communication channel inherently secure from eavesdroppers covertly capture private keys. This method of securing information has the potential to revolutionize how we protect sensitive data, from financial transactions to national security. As quantum communication technology matures, we can expect it to become a crucial component of cybersecurity infrastructure.
Quantum sensors are already making waves in the commercial sector. These devices exploit quantum phenomena to achieve levels of sensitivity and precision far beyond that of classical sensors. By measuring quantities with unprecedented accuracy, quantum sensors are transforming fields such as medical imaging, navigation, and environmental monitoring.
The quantum sensor market is not just a theoretical concept; it is already a significant commercial sector, with global revenue estimates reaching $1 billion USD in 2022 and increasing at a rapid pace. This growth reflects the practical value and increasing adoption of quantum sensing technologies in various industries. Quantum is Changing the Landscape of Data Security
Your IT department knows that the encryption used for internet and website security is at risk from quantum computing. When powerful quantum computers arrive in the early 2030’s, public-key encryption will no longer protect data. This impacts everything from the technology behind “https://” on corporate websites to government secrets. Worse, data collected by eavesdroppers today can be decrypted when those systems arrive. IT departments around the world are inventorying their use of encryption technologies and talking to vendors about upgrading to newer “postquantum computing” (PQC) technologies.
Quantum technology could be in your home right now. Some smart TV display screens use “quantum dots”, semiconductors so small that they exhibit quantum effects. When energized, the dots absorb the energy and give it back off as red, green or blue light. With the stimulant energy controlled by sophisticated electronics, quantum dots are the pixels of these televisions.
Quantum technology is more than just a buzzword; it’s a transformative force that promises to reshape industries and enhance our capabilities in ways we are just beginning to understand. The quantum future is not far off – CES 2025 will give you a glimpse into what the future holds.
Around the globe, energy usage is experiencing a fundamental change, with technology at its core. But what does this mean for our everyday lives, and why is it happening now? Explore how recent developments are fueling progress toward a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient energy system capable of meeting society’s evolving needs.
Simply put, “energy transition” refers to a shift in energy sources — the materials used to power our world. While it might seem like a trendy term, the concept is anything but new. In fact, society has already undergone two major “energy transitions,” moving from firewood to coal to oil. And now, we’ve reached another pivotal point in the energy revolution.
At its core, this energy transition is about moving from a reliance on traditional, carbon-based sources to more efficient and lower carbon options, such as renewables (wind, solar, hydropower) and even nuclear energy. It’s also about modernizing our power grid, making it more efficient, reliable, resilient, and decentralized. In short, we’re not simply looking to swap energy sources, we’re reshaping how energy flows through our communities and our lives. And just like the energy transitions of the past, technology plays a critical role in driving and defining this next era of energy.
The urgency of this transition stems from multiple factors — regulatory commitments, private sector initiatives, and our evolving consumption habits. Governments worldwide have agreed to ambitious energy goals, such as those outlined in the Paris Climate Accords, which set a target to reduce emissions by 43% by 2030. Countries are working toward meaningful changes in their energy systems to meet this timeline and those outlined in other agreements.
On the private sector front, many companies are committing to more sustainable energy practices for a variety of reasons, including cost savings, a sense of social and environmental responsibility, and to maintain a competitive edge. The evolving expectations of consumers are driving businesses to rethink their energy strategies — particularly consumers belonging to Gen Z, a group dubbed “the sustainability generation” and known for spotting inauthentic brand promises.
What makes this moment so important is that the world is not just shifting to cleaner energy sources, but is also laying the groundwork for a global infrastructure that can support increasing demands for sustainable solutions and a growing population. Already, there are more than three times as many people in the world as there were in the mid-20th century, and the population is expected to increase by nearly 2 billion in the next 30 years. This transition will address not only energy production, but also the technology and infrastructure needed to maintain a resilient, decentralized energy network.
Technology is making the energy transition both possible and essential. It’s not just transforming how we produce and use energy, but also driving demand in ways that make this shift more urgent — while evolving our relationship with energy.
One example of how innovation is — literally — driving the need for the energy transition is electric vehicles
(EVs). Improvements in EV technology kickstarted EV adoption, and now, having more EVs on the road is intensifying demand for infrastructure upgrades. That demand is evidenced by government initiatives, like the U.S. Department of Transportation’s recent announcement of $521 million in grants to build out the national vehicle charging network. These types of investments support the growing adoption of electric mobility, reducing reliance on gasoline while empowering consumers to take a more active role in the energy ecosystem.
Data centers are another interesting factor in this energy transformation. Technologies like AI, cloud computing, 5G networks, and cryptocurrency have caused an uptick in energy demand at data centers, due to the amount of computing power they require. Estimates show that data center electricity consumption for the U.S. alone could reach nearly 260 terawatt-hours (TWh) by 2026, roughly equivalent to Japan’s total energy consumption. However, technology is already solving its own energy usage issues, with advances in AI and energy-efficient technologies helping to mitigate this impact. One excellent example is Brainchip’s Akida™ on-chip learning technology, which reduces reliance on cloud computing by enabling AI processing to occur locally, thereby lowering latency and energy consumption while enhancing security.
The data centers that support many of today’s promising technologies are also spurring innovation in energy-efficient temperature control. Cooling systems account for about 40% of data centers’ energy usage, and already, smart HVAC systems are making an impact. Supported by IoT solutions from companies like Eaton, Microchip Technology, and Intellias, these technologies optimize energy use, predict maintenance needs, and ensure that both enterprises and consumers are part of a more efficient, responsive energy grid.
Looking forward, the future of energy lies in decentralized systems powered by smart technologies. From small modular reactors (SMRs, a new type of nuclear plant) to battery storage
systems operating at residential, commercial, and grid scales, there are already a variety of innovations being developed and deployed that help make more localized energy usage possible.
Just as digital health solutions revolutionized health care, empowering individuals to take more control of their own well-being, decentralized energy systems will allow businesses and individuals to generate, store, and distribute their own energy. Eaton’s “everything as a grid” approach exemplifies this shift by integrating various energy sources and storage solutions into a cohesive, flexible system. This enhances grid stability, while also helping consumers manage their energy use more effectively, reducing reliance on centralized power plants. In the same vein, Haus.me’s self-sustaining, solar-powered homes show the potential for entirely off-grid living, offering energy efficiency that’s 20 times greater than the average U.S. household. These advancements highlight the transformative potential of smart home technologies and energy management systems. By enabling more efficient and sustainable living, they pave the way for a future where energy resilience and innovation are at the forefront.
As we stand on the brink of this new energy era, it’s clear that the transition is about more than just changing our power sources; it’s about leveraging technology to build a sustainable, efficient, and resilient energy system capable of meeting society’s evolving needs. From smart grids to decentralized energy solutions, the advancements we develop and embrace today will shape the evolution of our power infrastructure for generations to come.
The energy transition is a multifaceted process requiring innovation across many sectors — and CES is the only place where you can see the full picture. Discover solutions from forward-thinking companies in energy/power, EV infrastructure, and other key industries.

Storied American brands Klipsch and Airstream have teamed up to showcase a shared passion for performance and premium audio. Through its 2025 model year update, Airstream has selected Klipsch as its preferred audio provider with select models featuring one of multiple configurations of Klipsch premium audio sound systems as a standard option. At CES 2025, Airstream is unveiling a new design package, Midnight Flamingo, equipped with a Klipsch premium audio system. Ready to deliver the soundtrack for adventure as Klipsch has done since 1946, the system includes an upgraded head unit, four in-ceiling speakers, and a subwoofer for an immersive and powerful audio experience.
The Midnight Flamingo package, inspired by the stealthy limited-edition drops popularized by the automotive and consumer tech industries, will be introduced as an optional upgrade for Airstream’s most popular and versatile travel trailer floorplans, the Flying Cloud 25FB and Flying Cloud 27FB. In addition to maintaining standard Flying Cloud features, like QuietStream Climate Control and family-friendly sleeping and living spaces, the Midnight Flamingo package will include a rear hatch, dual air conditioning system, a three-inch lift kit, and a solar and lithium power package to support extended adventures. The Midnight Flamingo package can be selected as an optional upgrade on applicable Flying Cloud models starting in early 2025.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino fully expects that social media — and X in particular — will at some point replace legacy media as the premier source of news.
“We know the future of news is not legacy media,” Yaccarino stated during her CES 2025 keynote address, an interview with former CBS News senior investigative reporter Catherine Herridge. “What we want to do is make sure that we provide a great place for that journalistic curiosity to return, to make sure that there is a place for journalists to come thrive and earn a great living. This year was a seminal year for X particularly as it provided independent journalists a clear canvas to really explore that craft that’s such a challenge for them today.”
Lauding the end of fellow social media giant Meta’s reliance of its third-party fact-checking program just as X has, Yaccarino stressed that user fact checking via its Community Notes program, inaugurated prior to Elon Musk’s 2022 purchase of the former Twitter platform, was in the interest of protecting bi-partisan conversation.
“It’s a genuine embrace of free speech, absolutely,” enthused Yaccarino, noting there are almost a million Community Noters around the world. “Think about it as this global collective consciousness keeping each other accountable at global scale in real time. When you think about Community Notes, [Meta CEO] Mark [Zuckerberg] and Meta realized that it’s the most effective and fastest fact checking without bias.”
Yaccarino insists the appeal of X as a news platform, and the potential launch of a separate X news portal, along with community fact checking is reporting without the middleman. “X has crossed into a reality no surrogate could perform,” Yaccorino said. “You’re watching the new government unfold, and you’re seeing all the nominees announced, and you’re watching it in real time. This is really an example of a government of the people, by the people, for the people. They come to X now [where there] is no surrogate to find out what’s happening.”
Yaccarino reported that 90% of X’s advertisers have returned to the platform, touting new technology that enables ads to rise in conjunction with surges in
complementary content, trends, and engagement. As an example, Yaccarino cited its NFL partnership portal, which this season generated 36 billion impressions and around four billion video views.
Yaccarino also seemed to confirm that Musk is about to launch his own crypto launch called X Money, which she insisted will “change both payments and the opportunities creators on the platform forever.”

SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz joined CEO of audiochuck and host of the Crime Junkie podcast Ashley Flowers for the C Space keynote to discuss the evolution of technology and creativity in the audio medium. Witz, who has been with SiriusXM for nearly two decades, has seen many transformations in how we listen, whether it is on the radio, on our devices, or our favorite podcasts.
The biggest change is how we listen. However, what has not changed over the years is why we listen. Whether it is your favorite podcast or vinyl on your record player, “we are moved and enlightened by audio,” Witz said. “It keeps us connected — it brings people together and changes hearts and minds.”
Both Witz and Flowers have always gravitated towards the power of audio. Audio, said Witz, is incredibly impactful and powerful. Audio can go where so many other mediums can’t, like a car or on a jog — it creates a connection that you can’t get with video or other media. “The car is pretty much the perfect venue for audio to create that companionship,” Witz said. Flowers, the No. 1 female podcaster in the nation
and a New York Times bestselling author, is the host of her true crime podcast — a genre that has seen quite the boom over the past few years. But Flowers was among the first and admitted that maintaining her uniqueness is one of the challenges she faces as a podcaster. The other is discoverability. How does a new content creator get discovered in a sea of audio options? Obviously, algorithms help, but at SiriusXM, there are experts who love what they do as well as the genres and categories on which they work. It helps
build connections with the hosts. “It’s a big part of what we are at SiruiusXM,” Witz said. “That it’s humans creating all this.”
Flowers said the biggest change is not so much the tech side, but the business side — the ability to dissect download data and listenership and how to deliver ads that don’t turn listeners off. Podcasting is still a relatively new space, and more accuracy is better for creators and audiences alike. It is constantly still evolving.
As with every emerging trend, AI is playing a role in the future of how we listen with AI voice cloning and Gen AI podcasts, for example. Flowers does not use AI in the creative process but instead values the human experience. It needs the human touch and feel. However, she does use AI to aggregate comments, DMs, and emails from fans, which enables her and her staff to reply more efficiently to her listening community and see what the fanbase is listening to and interested in. She isn’t using AI to influence but is using AI to help the audience influence her. Both Witz and Flowers agreed that AI should enhance the experience, not create it.
