“Transportation is what connects us,” said CTA President Kinsey Fabrizio as she introduced Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO of Volvo Group at the Volvo keynote at CES 2025 Wednesday morning. “Electrification, automation, and connectivity are transforming how people and goods move across the world, and thanks to the leadership of companies like Volvo group pushing boundaries in transportation and infrastructure, we’re redefining the future of sustainable mobility and technology and improving lives across the globe.”
“Thriving societies are built on transport and infrastructure solutions,” said Lundstedt. “Take the United States as an example — more than 70% of all goods used in our daily lives from food to manufactured goods are transported to our stores, plants, and homes. But transport is not just about moving people or goods from one place to another. It binds us together, fuels our economy, and enriches our lives and society in countless ways.”
Volvo’s innovations and advancements in clean, sustainable energy and transportation were highlighted by Lars Stenqvist, CTO of Volvo Group, as he shared examples of heavy construction equipment working cleanly and independently of an electric grid, and with much less noise pollution than combustion engine models produce.
“Our goal is clear: to create solutions meeting the demands of tomorrow —cleaner, safer, more efficient, smarter transport and construction,” said Stenqvist.
Stenqvist proudly showcased VNL, Volvo’s new flagship highway truck for North America. Volvo’s aerodynamic and powertrain breakthroughs featured with the VNL create up to a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency over its previous model and are designed to set new industry standards in heavy-duty trucking.
Lundstedt also welcomed Ebba Busch, Minister for Energy, Business and Industry, Deputy Prime Minister for Sweden, to the stage to share Sweden’s vision for creating a hopeful future for generations to come.
“Today…many young people lack hope,” said Busch. “So many parents worry that their children may not experience better living conditions than they had themselves. Can you imagine what that does to a whole generation?”
Citing hard work and curiosity as key ingredients to Sweden’s success over the centuries, Busch warned that those two values are in danger today. “Fear can drive action,” she said, “but too much fear leads to hopelessness, it leads to paralysis, and political decisions rooted in quite a lot of fear for climate change, war, or pandemics. That hinders the next generation to believe and pursue these values.
“Yet, there is so much hope,” Busch enthused. “New technologies offer incredible possibilities, and
I would like to make a direct appeal to all of you here in this room or listening online now, as business leaders, as mothers, as fathers, as policymakers, and as fellow citizens. We all have a great responsibility to instill the values of hard work and curiosity in the next generation. Do not underestimate the power of what we model as admirable and worth striving for. Like our ancestors, we can transform fear into hope and build a more prosperous tomorrow.”
Volvo’s vision for a clean, safe, and sustainable technology-based future is made possible by its partnerships, and Lundstedt encouraged companies across the world to share the heavy burden of creating an optimal future by “collaborating with a competitor to be competitive”.
“The time to act was yesterday, but now we must move faster than ever,” Lundstedt concluded. “Let’s shape the world we want to live in, and let’s do it together.”
“One day this technology is going to allow you to have a deeper relationship with music.” will.i.am, founder and CEO of FYI, entertained a roomful of CES attendees showing off his new RAiDiO.FYI app, now included with select LG speakers. Designed to personalize the radio-listening experience, RAiDiO.FYI isn’t simply an app that learns what songs and artists a listener likes, but creates an interactive experience in which the listener can have a conversation with several of the app’s AI personas. will.i.am spoke with “Fyilicia” about the Denver Broncos blowout over the Kansas City Chiefs — getting impressive details from his AI friend, including stats on Bo Nix’s record-setting day — and then turned to “Mr. Kay” to tell the audience the same thing in both Chinese and Hindi. “It’s an awesome time to be creating, dreaming, and manifesting those dreams,” will.i.am told the attendees in regards to the power of AI and content creation.

Want to know a surefire way to get nearly 18,000 people to drop everything they are doing and attend your keynote speech during CES? Host it at Sphere, the groundbreaking, technological marvel that has redefined live and filmed experiences with its wholly immersive presentation.
Delta Airlines is celebrating a landmark 100 years in operation, the longest-running U.S. airlines, and CEO Ed Bastian presented the first-ever CES keynote at Sphere. Bastion used the time to discuss Delta’s past, present, and future, and describe Delta’s vision for using technology to enrich human experiences. Instead of just another keynote, Delta used all the immersive capabilities of Sphere, which not only included the floor-to-ceiling video and incredible audio, but also wind, aroma, and tactile in-seat effects to take viewers on an immersive virtual journey that included a massive Airbus A350-900 taxiing into Sphere, followed by a take-off, in-flight cockpit view, and landing spaced throughout the evening.
Gary Shapiro, CEO of Consumer Technology Association (CTA), kicked off the event, saying this was Bastian’s third CES keynote, then EGOT-winning celebrity Viola Davis narrated a short video, reminding the audience that it wasn’t long ago that flight itself was considered impossible. Davis then took the stage, asking us to imagine where the next 100 years will take us before introducing Bastian.
Bastian said that much of Delta’s success is due to its employees, and he took time out to personally recognize several key employees, including Delta’s first-ever female black pilot, a pilot who had over five decades of service, and a flight attendant in her 65th year of service.
Bastian stressed that customers are at the center of Delta’s business, and while new technology has the power to change the world by bringing people togeth-
er, the entire point of innovation is to lift people up. Delta is looking to utilize technology to create seamless and premium travel experiences with humanity at the core.
Experience is the currency of business today, and with nearly 200 million people traveling on Delta each year, Delta is using AI to analyze data to better understand and anticipate the needs of its customers and improve their experiences, with the ultimate goal of making every moment spent on Delta feel special. For example, approximately 65 people each day cross the one-million-mile threshold, and Delta is looking at ways to deliver special experiences and make passengers feel seen from check-in, to boarding, to sitting on the plane. Delta realizes this connectivity between customer and employee creates “moments of magic” with human connection at the center, and the company is looking to preserve these moments, not disrupt them.
Bastian said that the Fly Delta app has more than 1.3 billion interactions annually and is used by over 97% of Sky Miles members. He announced the upcoming release of “Delta Concierge,” which will use voice and AI to assist in planning and executing travel plans. This will ultimately help travelers in all aspects of their trips, from pre-planning, to getting to the airport, to expediting security, check-in, and boarding processes, to navigating and personalizing on-board entertainment, and ultimately getting to their final destinations.
Delta has more than 165,000 seatback screens flying daily with Delta Sync, the company’s cloudbased in-flight entertainment system, and Bastian announced a new exclusive partnership with YouTube starting this year that will deliver an ad-free experience on Delta either on customer’s personal devices or seatback screens.
Delta is also developing a program titled “Well Traveled” that will be hosted by NFL legend Tom
Brady and available later this year through Delta Sync that will help wellness during and after travel. To introduce this, Bastian brought out the GOAT himself. Brady admitted that he’s a very frequent traveler that travels nearly every weekend, and that he has three tips for staying healthy while traveling: [1] Stay hydrated. [2] Take care of your physical health whether walking, hiking, swimming, or biking. [3] Use time on the plane to be productive, with long flights giving you a chance to lock-in and do some work.
Bastian introduced Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, to the stage who stated that 50% of the company’s bookings begin or end at an airport, and they announced a new exclusive partnership with Uber that will allow Sky Miles members to earn miles on Uber and Uber Eats transactions starting this spring. Ultimately there will be instructions in the Uber app that will guide users from the plane to the curb to help facilitate transport on arrival.
Looking to the future, Bastian said that the power of travel is making the world smaller and bringing people together face-to-face, and the next century of flight will be about uniting the world and moving people quickly and safely around the planet. He stated that only one-fifth of the world’s population has experienced air travel, and that air travel needs to be accessible and affordable for everyone.
Finally, Bastian announced that Delta will be a key partner with Airbus in developing next-generation aircraft that will have improved aerodynamics and reduced fuel consumption, along with scaling production of sustainable aviation fuel technologies. Airbus’ chief sustainability officer, Julie Kitcher, said that the company is working towards aircraft that use 100% biofuel.
Bastian noted, “The future is filled with limitless possibilities. The sky is no longer the limit — it is just the beginning.”

After years of build-up, Yasuhide Mizuno, chair and CEO of Sony Honda Mobility, took the stage at CES 2025 to announce that the Afeela 1 joint venture between Sony and Honda is now available for reservation, with cars scheduled to begin arriving in 2026.
At last year’s CES, the car was driven onto stage using a PlayStation 5 Dual Sense Control, and this year a “near-final” version of the vehicle was called onto stage using a voice command to highlight the auto’s Afeela Personal Agent.
Sony describes Afeela as a bold step forward in mobility, creating an entirely new driving experience designed to connect, entertain, and inspire, and we now know the price of the new smart electric vehicle. The Afeela 1 will be offered in two trims, with the entry Origin at $89,900 and the premium Signature at $102,900. Both vehicles are designed to “make mobility a creative entertainment space,” and will feature seamless end-to-end driving support using Afeela Intelligent Drive. The vehicle’s entire UI is powered by Unreal Engine and will present real-time navigation and safety information in easy-to-understand visuals, including an immersive 3D map.
The vehicle will include a complimentary threeyear subscription that will provide Afeela Intelligent Drive (Level 2+ ADAS), an immersive entertainment selection, a customizable theme, and the Afeela Personal Agent. As you’d expect from Sony, the vehi-
cle is packed with technology, featuring 40 sensors, 800 TOPS (Tera Operation Per Second) of computing power, 5G connectivity, an immersive entertainment system, and a 1 kWh battery with an estimated range of 300 miles.
For $200 you can reserve your vehicle today at shm-afeela.com, though these are currently limited to California residents,
Sony Group president, Hiroki Totoki, brought NFL commissioner Roger Goodell onto the stage to discuss Sony’s ongoing technology partnership with the NFL. They stated that the last Super Bowl used over 160 Sony cameras and that the NFL is always looking for the best tools for players, staff, and coaches on the field. In line with that, Totoki showed a sample of the new coach’s headset Sony has developed with the NFL, which will make its debut in the 2025 season.
Enabling and powering the creative community also remains at the forefront of what Sony does, and Totoki stated that “imagination and creativity drive everything we do.” Sony continues to be invested in supporting creative talent, developing tools for creators that will bring new stories to life, and enable
greater creative freedom.
By putting new tools and technologies into the hands of artists, previous limitations have been removed, giving filmmakers and creators more flexibility to tell their stories to bring their visions to life. This includes a new PXO Akira vehicle processing system introduced by Pixomondo’s COO, Jonny Slow, that will help creators shoot vehicles far more safely in any setting.
Sony also showed a new 3D CG production solution, XYN, an integrated software and hardware solution that will support every aspect of spatial content creation. It captures and converts real objects and spaces into high-quality 3D assets, allowing creators to easily bring them into their work, as well as improving motion capture technology.
Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, and Ashley Brucks, president of Screen Gems, took the stage to discuss the success Sony has had expanding on the powerful stories from such gaming franchises as Uncharted, Gran Turismo, The Last of Us, and Twisted Metal. They noted that successfully adapting a game to film comes down to respecting the source material, and Sony works directly with the game creators to focus on what fans love about the game and experience, taking the essence of what makes the game great while building it out to offer something fresh and exciting in a brand-new story.
In line with that, they announced Columbia Pictures is in the early stages of developing a film adaption of Horizon Zero Dawn along with a film adaptation of Helldivers 2. The popular horror title Until Dawn has a film scheduled for release this April, and Season 2 of The Last of Us will be returning to HBO in April.
Totoki discussed the desire to bring “kando” — the universal desire to experience joy, wonder, and amazement — back into the world, and said Sony aims to empower creativity by bringing new stories to life, to expand IP into unique and engaging experiences, and create infinite realities for everyone to create a boundless sense of kando.
“The future of our business is creativity,” Totoki stated, “and it always will be.”

When we first introduced massage chairs to the U.S. market, it took considerable time to help people understand their health benefits. At first, people viewed massage chairs as a luxury or an indulgent gadget. We had to start by demonstrating the advantages that massage chairs could bring, primarily through hands-on experiences. But today, massage chairs are widely adopted worldwide, and particularly in the U.S., they are increasingly found in many households. Interestingly, in Japan—the birthplace of the massage chair—each model must obtain medical certification. This stringent medical approval process acts as a bottleneck for the development and introduction of new products, often leading to long lead times from development to market
also fosters innovation, creating a fertile ground for the development of cutting-edge models. As a result, the U.S. has the potential to become a global hub driving advancements in massage chair technology.
Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that there are 361 acupuncture points on the human body, and massaging these points can contribute to health promotion. This growing global recognition of massage as a vital health practice is further fueling the popularity of massage chairs.

The world is a seemingly tumultuous place lately, with concerns about military conflicts, governmental leadership shifts, economic stagnation combined with inflation, and geopolitical tensions, including trade wars and threats of tariffs. The recent global happenings and ongoing discussions around international trade have prompted consumer electronics brands to evaluate supply chain strategies, including component vendors and manufacturing partnerships.
It is unlikely that even the largest global brands can absorb tariff costs for more than a short timeframe, even for their most important clients. Thus, any increases in parts, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics will be passed on as price increases to end consumers, dampening demand.
One potential tactic is to order substantial inventories to be delivered prior to tariff implementations to avoid them. Doing so requires capital investments where cash flow might be used elsewhere more optimally. Incremental costs must be incurred to expedite parts, assembly, and delivery. Once landed, there are expenses related to warehousing, inventory carrying costs, depreciation, and loss. Risk is associated with ordering the wrong mix of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), leading to discounting to liquidate inventory before it becomes obsolete. Moreover, if threatened tariffs are never imposed, then the investment would be for naught.
ing manufacturing volumes can be a prolonged, even multi-year, process.
A dual-source strategy, splitting part and production requirements between multiple vendors, can impact economies of scale, as multiple manufacturers split global volumes. Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) expense may be required to redesign if second source components are not drop-in replacements. Further, operational costs increase to set up, manage,
It is unlikely that even the largest global brands can absorb tariff costs for more than a short timeframe, even for their most important clients.
Evolving jargon includes OOC (Out of China) and OOT (Out of Taiwan) as brands seek perceived safer harbors to source parts to produce finished goods. However, the “not all that glitters is gold” aphorism seems particularly applicable.
A plethora of direct and indirect costs, measured in both time and money, are associated with sourcing shifts that may possibly exceed the incremental costs incurred via tariffs imposed.
Brands can relocate production to tariff-exempt countries, but the process of identifying, evaluating, contracting, producing first articles, and ramp -
sell, and service multiple SKUs that are comparable but not identical.
Reliance on alternative suppliers may increase the risk of quality issues, inconsistencies between vendors, or delivery delays, especially during the transition period. Many logistics complexities are associated with customs compliance, inefficiencies, and the reliability of rerouted transportation.
Several countries often mentioned as evolving manufacturing hubs include India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam in Southeast Asia, Slovakia and Turkey in Europe, as well as Mexico and Canada in
North America. Each has developing technology manufacturing centers, but the assurance of a guaranteed, sustainable capacity with sufficient quality commensurate with brand image must be meticulously evaluated.
Best-in-class consumer electronics brands have proactively begun this process by routinely evaluating component vendors and manufacturing partners to maximize quality while minimizing Bill of Material (BOM) and production costs. Second sourcing and geographical diversity are two strategies to harden supply chains without incurring significant finished goods investments.
Diversifying entire ecosystems includes relocating supply chains, product manufacturing, and distribution warehouses closer to the customer to improve sustainability. Geographically dispersing duplicate facilities can prevent disruptions, whether a result of unexpected events, whether natural or human-made. There are numerous independent variables beyond our control, complicating business strategy and planning. Wise organizations will focus on identifying and assessing the likelihood of potential impacts, investigating and evaluating contingencies, as well as proactively implementing measures to mitigate risk and optimize business operations during turbulent times.

While it’s still early days for quantum technology, what once seemed like science fiction is now on the brink of transforming industries and everyday life. But did you know there are three distinct kinds of quantum technology? Let’s dive into this exciting field and understand what makes it so revolutionary.
Quantum technology uses properties of quantum mechanics to enable new and improved networking,
Stepping back at CES 2019, IBM unveiled its System One device, the first circuit-based commercial quantum computer.
The basic unit of quantum information is the qubit. Researchers are working with several different core types of qubits – all are under development and have different projected advantages for different kinds of problems.
• Trapped Ions
• Cold Atoms
• Superconducting Qubits
• Photonic Qubits
• Solid-State Qubits
• Topological Qubits
computing and sensing. These properties can be difficult to work with and may require production at very low temperatures in a process known as cryogenics, special shielding and error correction. But the projected benefits are significant, and many companies (including CES exhibitors) are working in this space.
Now on to the three major emerging market sectors, each of which harness different quantum properties to address specific challenges and open new possibilities.
Quantum Computing stores information using qubits rather than the bits of current “classical” computing. Where a traditional computing “bit” is either one or zero, and never both, a qubit can hold multiple states simultaneously. The power of these structures allows quantum computers to do more with a few dozen qubits than the most powerful classical computers — for the right kinds of problems.
Quantum communications harness the principles of quantum mechanics to secure information in ways that classical systems cannot. One of the most promising applications is quantum key distribution (QKD), which allows for the secure distribution of encryption keys. Unlike traditional methods, QKD sends information using quantum states with properties like entanglement or superposition.
One way to thinking about quantum computing is an accelerator that speeds up certain steps in classical computing or helps find an optimal solution to a complex problem.
Hybrids of quantum and high-performance computing, and of quantum and AI/ML, will be important in finance, chemistry, materials, logistics and more. Early commercial solutions are emerging from R&D and extremely powerful solutions are expected in the early 2030’s.
It’s physically impossible to eavesdrop on such data without disturbing these properties, so QKD ensures that any attempt to intercept the key will be detected, making the communication channel inherently secure from eavesdroppers covertly capture private keys. This method of securing information has the potential to revolutionize how we protect sensitive data, from financial transactions to national security. As quantum communication technology matures, we can expect it to become a crucial component of cybersecurity infrastructure.
Quantum sensors are already making waves in the commercial sector. These devices exploit quantum phenomena to achieve levels of sensitivity and precision far beyond that of classical sensors. By measuring quantities with unprecedented accuracy, quantum sensors are transforming fields such as medical imaging, navigation, and environmental monitoring.
The quantum sensor market is not just a theoretical concept; it is already a significant commercial sector, with global revenue estimates reaching $1 billion USD in 2022 and increasing at a rapid pace. This growth reflects the practical value and increasing adoption of quantum sensing technologies in various industries. Quantum is Changing the Landscape of Data Security
Your IT department knows that the encryption used for internet and website security is at risk from quantum computing. When powerful quantum computers arrive in the early 2030’s, public-key encryption will no longer protect data. This impacts everything from the technology behind “https://” on corporate websites to government secrets. Worse, data collected by eavesdroppers today can be decrypted when those systems arrive. IT departments around the world are inventorying their use of encryption technologies and talking to vendors about upgrading to newer “postquantum computing” (PQC) technologies.
Quantum technology could be in your home right now. Some smart TV display screens use “quantum dots”, semiconductors so small that they exhibit quantum effects. When energized, the dots absorb the energy and give it back off as red, green or blue light. With the stimulant energy controlled by sophisticated electronics, quantum dots are the pixels of these televisions.
Quantum technology is more than just a buzzword; it’s a transformative force that promises to reshape industries and enhance our capabilities in ways we are just beginning to understand. The quantum future is not far off – CES 2025 will give you a glimpse into what the future holds.
Around the globe, energy usage is experiencing a fundamental change, with technology at its core. But what does this mean for our everyday lives, and why is it happening now? Explore how recent developments are fueling progress toward a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient energy system capable of meeting society’s evolving needs.
Simply put, “energy transition” refers to a shift in energy sources — the materials used to power our world. While it might seem like a trendy term, the concept is anything but new. In fact, society has already undergone two major “energy transitions,” moving from firewood to coal to oil. And now, we’ve reached another pivotal point in the energy revolution.
At its core, this energy transition is about moving from a reliance on traditional, carbon-based sources to more efficient and lower carbon options, such as renewables (wind, solar, hydropower) and even nuclear energy. It’s also about modernizing our power grid, making it more efficient, reliable, resilient, and decentralized. In short, we’re not simply looking to swap energy sources, we’re reshaping how energy flows through our communities and our lives. And just like the energy transitions of the past, technology plays a critical role in driving and defining this next era of energy.
The urgency of this transition stems from multiple factors — regulatory commitments, private sector initiatives, and our evolving consumption habits. Governments worldwide have agreed to ambitious energy goals, such as those outlined in the Paris Climate Accords, which set a target to reduce emissions by 43% by 2030. Countries are working toward meaningful changes in their energy systems to meet this timeline and those outlined in other agreements.
On the private sector front, many companies are committing to more sustainable energy practices for a variety of reasons, including cost savings, a sense of social and environmental responsibility, and to maintain a competitive edge. The evolving expectations of consumers are driving businesses to rethink their energy strategies — particularly consumers belonging to Gen Z, a group dubbed “the sustainability generation” and known for spotting inauthentic brand promises.
What makes this moment so important is that the world is not just shifting to cleaner energy sources, but is also laying the groundwork for a global infrastructure that can support increasing demands for sustainable solutions and a growing population. Already, there are more than three times as many people in the world as there were in the mid-20th century, and the population is expected to increase by nearly 2 billion in the next 30 years. This transition will address not only energy production, but also the technology and infrastructure needed to maintain a resilient, decentralized energy network.
Technology is making the energy transition both possible and essential. It’s not just transforming how we produce and use energy, but also driving demand in ways that make this shift more urgent — while evolving our relationship with energy.
One example of how innovation is — literally — driving the need for the energy transition is electric vehicles
(EVs). Improvements in EV technology kickstarted EV adoption, and now, having more EVs on the road is intensifying demand for infrastructure upgrades. That demand is evidenced by government initiatives, like the U.S. Department of Transportation’s recent announcement of $521 million in grants to build out the national vehicle charging network. These types of investments support the growing adoption of electric mobility, reducing reliance on gasoline while empowering consumers to take a more active role in the energy ecosystem.
Data centers are another interesting factor in this energy transformation. Technologies like AI, cloud computing, 5G networks, and cryptocurrency have caused an uptick in energy demand at data centers, due to the amount of computing power they require. Estimates show that data center electricity consumption for the U.S. alone could reach nearly 260 terawatt-hours (TWh) by 2026, roughly equivalent to Japan’s total energy consumption. However, technology is already solving its own energy usage issues, with advances in AI and energy-efficient technologies helping to mitigate this impact. One excellent example is Brainchip’s Akida™ on-chip learning technology, which reduces reliance on cloud computing by enabling AI processing to occur locally, thereby lowering latency and energy consumption while enhancing security.
The data centers that support many of today’s promising technologies are also spurring innovation in energy-efficient temperature control. Cooling systems account for about 40% of data centers’ energy usage, and already, smart HVAC systems are making an impact. Supported by IoT solutions from companies like Eaton, Microchip Technology, and Intellias, these technologies optimize energy use, predict maintenance needs, and ensure that both enterprises and consumers are part of a more efficient, responsive energy grid.
Looking forward, the future of energy lies in decentralized systems powered by smart technologies. From small modular reactors (SMRs, a new type of nuclear plant) to battery storage
systems operating at residential, commercial, and grid scales, there are already a variety of innovations being developed and deployed that help make more localized energy usage possible.
Just as digital health solutions revolutionized health care, empowering individuals to take more control of their own well-being, decentralized energy systems will allow businesses and individuals to generate, store, and distribute their own energy. Eaton’s “everything as a grid” approach exemplifies this shift by integrating various energy sources and storage solutions into a cohesive, flexible system. This enhances grid stability, while also helping consumers manage their energy use more effectively, reducing reliance on centralized power plants. In the same vein, Haus.me’s self-sustaining, solar-powered homes show the potential for entirely off-grid living, offering energy efficiency that’s 20 times greater than the average U.S. household. These advancements highlight the transformative potential of smart home technologies and energy management systems. By enabling more efficient and sustainable living, they pave the way for a future where energy resilience and innovation are at the forefront.
As we stand on the brink of this new energy era, it’s clear that the transition is about more than just changing our power sources; it’s about leveraging technology to build a sustainable, efficient, and resilient energy system capable of meeting society’s evolving needs. From smart grids to decentralized energy solutions, the advancements we develop and embrace today will shape the evolution of our power infrastructure for generations to come.
The energy transition is a multifaceted process requiring innovation across many sectors — and CES is the only place where you can see the full picture. Discover solutions from forward-thinking companies in energy/power, EV infrastructure, and other key industries.

BOOTH 4440, WEST HALL Hyundai Mobis is unveiling what it believes to be the world’s first full-windshield holographic display, redefining the future of in-vehicle display technology. Unlike conventional systems that rely on traditional screen-based components, this cutting-edge innovation operates without physical screens, offering a nextgeneration approach to information display in vehicles.
The holographic windshield display, exclusively integrated into Kia’s EV9 electric vehicle for CES 2025, transforms the front window into a transparent screen without additional display devices. Essential information such as driving data, navigation, and music playlists is seamlessly projected onto the lower portion of the windshield,
providing drivers with a more intuitive and immersive experience.
From the outside, the windshield retains the appearance of a standard transparent glass window.

However, inside the vehicle, it delivers crystal-clear visuals for both drivers and passengers, even under bright outdoor conditions, thanks to its high brightness and superior color reproduction. The display leverages a specialized film embedded with a Holographic Optical Element (HOE), which utilizes the principle of light diffraction to project images and videos directly to the viewer’s eyes.
In collaboration with ZEISS, a renowned German optical company, Hyundai Mobis developed this advanced holographic technology. Although the technology is not yet mass-produced, Hyundai Mobis and ZEISS plan to complete pre-development by mid-2026, with the goal of bringing the product to market by 2027.

BY WAYNE CAVADI
Visitors to Booth 16203 in the Central Hall will get to see a slew of software-defined solutions from Bosch that provide a landscape of possibilities to make people’s lives better. Before the show floor opened, Dr. Tanja Rückert, a member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, and Paul Thomas, president of Bosch in North America, detailed Bosch’s stay at CES 2025 — which includes everything from enhanced e-bike technology to self-rocking smart cribs.
As Rückert explained, Bosch is breaking new ground in its digital business in 2025 and beyond. “Coded like a Bosch,” the company’s latest tagline and theme in Las Vegas, identifies what people need and want: safety, convenience, and efficiency. Bosch comes to CES 2025 with solutions that have real benefits for enhancing customer’s lives — not mere novelties. Intelligent cameras, softwaredefined vehicles, innovative digital healthcare solutions, and building management are just a few solutions on display.
Street trials and mountain bike rider Danny MacAskill, who Rückert called a wizard on two wheels, was on hand to help introduce new e-bike technologies that will be on display this CES 2025. These technologies — like the new Battery Lock that renders valuable and costly batteries useless with the ability to deactivate it right from a cell phone — are just part of a bigger picture as Bosch aims to transform the ways consumers approach mobility.
Rückert and Thomas welcomed motorsports rac-
ing driver Robert Wickens to the stage to discuss Bosch’s groundbreaking hand-control system for braking. Wickens, who was left disabled and bound to a wheelchair after an accident in a race, was able to return to racing with the use of Bosch’s brake-bywire technology and software. The system gave him the ability to control his vehicle by hand with “worldclass speed and accuracy,” as Thomas explained.
Staying on the course, Bosch will be showcasing its Le Mans Daytona hybrid vehicle, or the LMDh. At
the booth, visitors will see the first hybrid racecar approved for NASCAR and FIA World Endurance Championships. The LMDh has a Bosch system at its core — with technologies like RaceConnect providing actionable insights in real-time.
Bosch also emphasized the importance of collaboration, as it is doing with Volkswagen and Cariad to bring automated driving and vehiclemotion management or its wrong-way driver detection technology paired with SiriusXM roadside assistance solutions. Bosch also aims to help smart home products with the Matter open standard.
By building trust in new technologies, Bosch puts people’s concerns front and center. This has never been more important than with the rise of AI. Safe, robust, secure, and explainable solutions are required to assist people’s daily lives, and visitors can see this all come together in REVOL. The AI infant care solution lends a helping hand to parents with a smart crib that helps keep an eye on the baby, monitors the baby’s heart and respiratory vitals, and can even automatically engage a rocking motion. But, as Rückert pointed out, Bosch’s AI solutions should support, not replace humans.
Thomas closed with a teaser of a major announcement coming soon that brought a round of applause from attendees. For the first time in its 139-year history, Bosch will be advertising at the Super Bowl. The focus? Products and solutions that continue to assist and support people in the digital age today and into the future.

BOOTH 31118, SOUTH HALL RadioShack, at one time the world’s most ubiquitous consumer electronics retail outlet, is back in the U.S. Sort of.
Last August, the brand was relaunched in the U.S. as a product rather than a retail brand. More than 400 RadioShack-branded products are now available not only on a new radioshack.com e-commerce site but also through several dozen retailers across the country, including Amazon and Walmart, as well as five active — but unaffiliated — RadioShack stores in Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
This new version of RadioShack (South Hall 1, booth 31118) is brought to you by the Unicomer Group, a San Salvador, El Salvador-based multinational retailer, product, and finance company founded in 2000 that owns and operates more than two dozen brands and more than 1000 retail stores in 24 countries, largely in the Southern Hemisphere.
Unicomer started managing RadioShack stores in 1998 in El Salvador, expanding over the years until it acquired the RadioShack franchising rights, intellectual property, and brand rights for Central America, South America, and the Caribbean in April 2015. In 2023, Unicomer acquired the RadioShack brand and intellectual property for the U.S., Canada, and more than 70 other countries. It relaunched the RadioShack brand in the U.S. last August.
“RadioShack has been a household name for decades, recognized for its deep connection to electronics enthusiasts, makers, and small businesses,” explained Rudy Siman, president of the new RadioShack International, headquartered in Miami, FL.
“The brand’s rich heritage, customer loyalty, and market potential aligned perfectly with Unicomer’s vision of bringing accessible technology to people across diverse markets. The acquisition was a natural fit, al-
lowing us to preserve the legacy of RadioShack while revitalizing its presence and adapting it to meet the needs of today’s consumers.”
RadioShack was originally founded in Boston in 1921 to capitalize on the new radio boom. By the early 1960s, however, after growing to nine stores, the business began to struggle. In November 1963, the chain was bought by Houston-based leather craft retailer Charles Tandy.
“This approach allows us to stay true to RadioShack’s heritage while meeting the evolving needs of today’s consumers,” Siman said. While RadioShack shifts to a product- rather than a retail-first strategy, several aspects of the RadioShack heritage will be honored. For one thing, its familiar circled red R logo remains, as does its low-pricing strategy.
Tandy transformed RadioShack into first the U.S.’ then the world’s largest consumer technology retailer, at its peak operating more than 8000 RadioShack and Tandy stores globally, selling a variety of largely budget electronics under a panoply of house brands, including Realistic, Archer, Optimus, and Tandy, as well as electronic hobbyist parts via both retail and catalog. After years of overexpansion, increased big box competition, the growth of e-commerce, and other crises in the early 2000s, however, RadioShack floundered and declared bankruptcy in 2015. The brand has gone through a series of breakups and ownerships during the last decade.
The new RadioShack’s product mix currently consists of more than 400 products covering 17 product categories and around 30 subcategories, including Bluetooth earbuds, headphones, portable speakers, batteries, and, of course, electronics accessories such as portable battery chargers, Wi-Fi extenders, adapters, outlet strips, remote controls, and even landline phones and backpacks. Over the next few months, the RadioShack product portfolio will grow to 600, and will gradually expand to around 1000 over the next year. Also planned will be an expansion of its e-commerce platform to offer additional third-party brands alongside RadioShack products.
“We are focused on serving our loyal customers who already know the RadioShack brand, but we’re also targeting younger generations who will be drawn to us because of the innovation we’re bringing,” Siman noted. “[But] while we’re committed to affordability, we never compromise on quality. All our products meet important certifications, ensuring that our customers can feel confident when purchasing and using them.”
As the company grows its product portfolio, it also is seeking retail partnership expansion not only in the U.S. but in Canada and other international markets; interested retailers can apply at https://www. radioshack.com/become-a-reseller. The company is also “currently in the process of inviting [existing RadioShack] stores to reapply for authorization as resellers under RadioShack USA,” Siman reported.
While Siman runs RadioShack International, his nephew Felix will run the U.S. operation as managing director. “We have built a strong and experienced team to support the operation, covering key areas such as product development, commercial strategy, logistics, and other critical functions,” Siman asserted. “This robust structure ensures that we are well-positioned to successfully manage and grow the brand in the United States and beyond.”
See what RadioShack has in store for 2025 and beyond at South Hall 1, booth 31118 in the LVCC.

Technology replacing humans has been a societal fear — and often a reality — since the Industrial Revolution. Accenture chair and CEO Julie Sweet believes that AI will result in corporate layoffs as the technology enables employers to reduce workforces but will also result in new and different jobs once AI is deployed effectively.
“Workforce reductions are inevitable, absolutely,” admitted Sweet during her CES 2025 keynote interview with Julia Boorstin, CNBC senior media & tech correspondent, but “it’s mostly tasks. CEOs will say, ‘I’m using all this AI and I don’t have less people.’ That’s because they haven’t reimagined the work. They’ve just taken away some of the tasks.”
To Sweet, corporate adoption of AI follows the old saw of people, process, technology, but with data as an added fourth step. But for companies looking to not only deploy but benefit from AI requires understanding what AI is capable of and developing new
skills to exploit that understanding.
“How are we going to invest in our people to bring them along the journey if you don’t understand what skills are needed to do the job and then how they’re changing it?” Sweet rhetorically asked. “You won’t be able to give [workers] the education and training to allow them to do it, which means you won’t get the value [from AI], but it also means they can’t rise to the occasion.”
To help companies realize the most value from AI, Accenture, in partnership with NVIDIA, has created AI Refinery, a starter kit platform that enables companies to build their own customizable AI agents using their own data set and their own corporate information. The AI Refinery initially consists of 12 industry-specific AI agent solutions, with plans to expand to more than 100 this year.

AI was front-and-center and woven through all the technologies discussed during Samsung’s 2025 CES press conference.
Samsung CEO Jong-Hee Han opened by saying that the company shared its vision of AI for all last year, with the company wanting to make this an every day, everywhere experience. Samsung’s SmartThings allows devices to work together to make life more comfortable, and today there are more than 340 SmartThings partners, making possibilities greater than ever. Samsung is now looking to reshape the industry with Home AI.
Han noted that the way we live is evolving, and that personalization is all the more important. Samsung is looking to deliver experiences beyond connection and automation, but rather to infuse more comfort and joy into users’ lives.
Samsung shared Vision AI, which will be used for enhanced searching for content, along with a new AI mode used to automatically optimize picture and sound based on viewing environment and prefer-
“We created the brain,” explained Sweet. “Then you take the starter kit and make it your own. Using that brain, that AI Refinery, we then tie it to your internal data, to your external data, and now you’ve been supercharged — not just with the technology, but with your own data. You’re going to go a lot faster because you get to leverage all our expertise. It’s allowing you to have the structure so that you can do the Holy Grail that every CEO complains about: ‘How do I scale? How do I make it easy for my people? How do I focus on how to use it?’ We try to make that simple for every organization.”
ences. A new generative wallpaper feature will allow TVs to create images/screen savers that can better fit into or personalize your environment. This year all Samsung QLED TVs will support Samsung Art Store, providing access to a collection of over 3000 art pieces, allowing users to turn any room into a personal gallery. Bixby will use AI for voice recognition, allowing for better personalization, and will improve audio subtitles by separating and lowering the volume of the original language while not impacting other sounds.
Samsung also showed its commitment to its Screens Everywhere strategy with a new washer/ driver combo unit that features a 7-inch touchscreen, as well as new refrigerators incorporating 9-inch AI-powered displays. And Ballie, Samsung’s smart AI Home companion, will be available in the first half of 2025.
Han said that delivering intelligent, powerful, and personalized home experiences across devices, components, and software remains one of the company’s top priorities and that Samsung will continue this journey “not just for the next decade, but for the next century.”
