RESEARCH JOURNAL This knowledge was imparted through oral tradition and reached on the earth through Guru Parampara.

Sri Vidya Sadhna Sri Vidya Sadhna is done on Sri Chakra (Sri Yantra). It is said that - ^JhpØe~ f'ko;ksoZiq%*A This chakra is the body of Shivashiv both. In the famous Sri Yantra the creation and development of the whole cosmos has been shown and apart from it this Yantra is also the indicator of human body. Many texts have been written to explain the serial and significance of this Yantra. There are nine chakras in Sri Yantra which are known by the name of Nav Avaran (Nine Covers). The worship of the nine covers of this yantra is considered to be the best. The methods of this worship has been described in totality in the texts like Shubhagodaya Stuti, Saundarya Lahari and Lalitatrishati etc. The systematic form of Sri Vidya Sadhna is the following 1. First of all, purify yourself and perform Pranayam. 2. Perform Kundalini Stuti and recitation of Mantras given by your preceptor (Guru). 3. Remember Goddess Gayatri, Lord Ganesha, Batukabhairava, Kuldevata (God of the clan), Kuldevi (Goddess of the clan), Matangi, Vaartali, Balatripursundari etc. 4. Take the solemn vow (resolution) and recite the mantras for the protection of the body. 5. After consecrating Sri Yantra, recite Upasthan Sahashtrakshari and Prastar Sahashtrakshari. 6. Perform the worship of different Nyas, Patrasadhan, Vishesharghya, Srichakrantaryag, Avahan, Shodshopachar Pujan and Chaturayatan Puja. 7. Now perform the Navaavaranmayi Puja (worship of nine covers). This is also called the great worship. All Mudras are essentially used in this. Nine covers of Sri Yanta are called Nava Chakra. Trailokya Mohan, Sarvashaparipurak, Sarvasankshobhan, Sarvasaubhagyadayak, Sarvarthasadhak, Sarvarakshakar, Sarvarogahar, Sarvasiddhiprada and Sarvanandamay. Its deity is Navchakreshwari. Before the Avaran Puja of Sri Chakra Layang Puja, Shadangarchana, Nityadevipujan and Gurumandalarchana are performed. After this Navavaranmayipuja is performed. After Navavaran, the worship of Panchalaxmi, Panchkoshamba, Panchakalpalata, Panchakamdugha and Panchratlamba are performed. After this Shaddarshan Vidya Shadadhar puja and Amnay Samashti Puja are performed.

8. After the above mentioned Avavaranmayi Puja, perform guru, Param guru and Parmesthi Guru pujan and thereafter recite Sri Vidya Mantra. 9. Recite Bhavnopnishad, Lalitasahastranam and Lalitatrishati. 10. After the above, recite Trailokyamohan Kavach. 11. End the puja with the recitation of Sri Sukta, Arnopnishad and Saundarya Lahari.

Who can do Sri Vidya Sadhna Everyone has the authority to worship and meditate Shri Chakra Nagar Samrajni Paramba Shodashi Sri Vidya Bhagwati Raj Rajeshwari Sri Lalita Mahatripur Sundari. The people of all the four Varnas, four Ashrams, scholars-illiterate, persons with pure heart as well as impure heart, Brahmins as well as Shudras can all worship Sri Vidya. The worshipper of Sri Vidya do not aspire for the attainment of paradise, because of the worship of Sri Vidya he feels all the tastes of Brahmanand which is the bigger pleasure than the attainment of paradise. In this meditation it is essential to have the initiation of a preceptor (Guru). Adiguru Shankaracharya established four peethas in order to manage the system of the worship and meditation of the deity of Sri Yantra Goddess Sri Vidya which is prevalent even today. In these four peethas the successor Jagadgurus give initiation to the worshippers of Sri Vidya. Those who are not initiated can attain the obligations by the recitation of any of the texts from Saundarya Lahari, Lalitasahastranam, Tripursundari Ashtakam, Srisukta, Arunopanishad, Bhavnopanishad, Shodashopachar manas puja or can have the endowments by reciting their names daily.

Special on the occasion of Deepavali Establish a Sriyantra of Gemstones, Crystal or Gold. Purify it by Panchamrit and Gangajal and worship it with Roli. Recite Sri Sukta and Laxmi Sukta. Recite the following mantras on Crystal rosary -

Presidential Election in USA (2016) By O.D. Mande

The second term of Mr Barrack Obama as President of USA is coming to an end shortly and the election for the next President is scheduled to be held on 8th November 2016. The candidates of the two parties are Mrs. Hillary Clinton of Democratic Party and Mr Donald Trump of Republican party. Both have been doing their campaigns in different styles as per their nature.

H

illary Clinton’s speeches are free of extremes and “politically correct“. In sharp contrast, Donald Trump’s style is a brew of populism, patriotism, prejudice, protectionism and paranoia. And yet he strikes a chord – saying things people think in their heads but dare not say in public i.e. “ politically incorrect”! In Trump’s campaign abuse substitutes arguments, generalisations extinguish nuance, labels, crush facts, scapegoating overpowers inclusion. Yet this Big Mc Donald entertains ! But who is likely to win? Let us have a look at their birth charts.

Review husband Bill Clinton had an affair with Monica Lewinsky during 1995—1997. During that period Hillary Clinton must have passed through deep anguish. The Vimsottari dasha was Venus –Rahu. The Narayan dasha of navamsa chart was Cn – Cn, Cn –Ge and Cn --Ta. The placement of planets /signs in navamsa is self explanatory. Lagna lord Mercury is conjunct with 5th lord Venus forming a Rajayoga but 3rd lord debilitated Sun has also joined the yoga. Hillary Clinton’s educational achievements are said to be not very high. Her rival did not spare her on this account and also on her lack of good experience. The afflicted 4th lord Mercury and debilitated Matrukarak Mars are self explanatory. Presidential election is scheduled to be held on 8th Nov 2016. The dasha during Nov---Dec 2016 is Moon –Jupiter—Mars. Moon occupies 10th house, happens to be star-lord of Rajya saham (18Vi39), owns Santap saham (15Cn2) while Jupiter is 7th / 10th lord, Gyatikarak(rival) and occupies the house of contest, weakening the chances of native’s victory. The placement of these planets in the charts, particularly panchamsa(power) is not favourable. Narayan dasha will be Vi—Aq –Vi. The Rajayoga involving Mercury is not strong, Aquarius contains Kali saham (20Aq49), dasha lord Saturn is afflicted with debilitated Mars and Rahu is in 4th from the dasha sign.

Rahu (star lord of Rajya saham 7Li46) is also posited in the same house which is advantageous for contemporary politicians. Further, the close conjunction of Herschel has added to the possibility of sudden rise in native’s career. The placement of yogakarak Mars in the lagna is another powerful Rajayoga. Unhappy Marriages, Delay and Denial By Sitaram Singh

T

he 7th house in a horoscope primarily relates to marriage, spouse and any other form of partnership. The sign falling in the 7th house and any benefic or malefic influence of planets on it and its lord correspondingly affect the married life of the individual. From every lagna, the 7th house is directly opposite, the two have different characteristics (Fiery, Earthy, Airy or Watery) and their lords are not

friendly. Hence some difference in nature and thinking between husband-wife is natural. Marital problems become unbearable when the 7th house, 7th lord, Kalatrakaraka Venus and Patikaraka Jupiter are severely afflicted. Besides the 7th house, the other houses concerned with married life are the 2nd house (family and longevity of spouse), the 4th house (home and family happiness), the 5th house (love and progeny), the 8th house (Mangalya or duration of married life), and the 12th house (bed comforts). Affliction to these houses, Kalatrakaraka Venus and Patikaraka Jupiter by Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu and the Sun to a lesser degrees, create problems in married life in keeping with the nature of afflicting planets. Mars and Ketu cause bad temper, quarrel, accident and even death. Rahu causes confusion, unorthodox marriages, unfaithfulness and sudden short-cut in married life. Saturn delays, makes the married life dull and dreary. Sun causes ego clash. The combined affliction by two or more of these planets on marriage factors, without any favourable benefic aspect, makes married life problematic and in extreme cases the native is denied conjugal bliss or it is short-lived. Some shlokas from astrological classics highlighting marital problems due to malefic effect without any benefic aspect on 7th house, its lord, Venus and Jupiter are as under.

Also a good astrologer is also supposed to know the Planetary positions specially of the slow moving planets, namely Saturn, Jupiter and the nodes. It is also expected from a good astrologer to see the Panchang and the Planetary positions of the day, specially the ones who changed signs or about to change signs, nakshatra or navamsha. Using the above parameters one could even predict the colour of the clothes worn by the querist and the approx. age of the querist. Experience showed that in the present scenario that the queries were mainly from those who were born in the multiple of 9 years of course above 27 years to 30 years approx. and those who had afflicted Jupiter in the chart and queries were for the financial stagnation or marriage from females The reasons of the same are as below:

the query was for marriage they were born in 1988-1989 in most cases and till the periods mentioned above when Rahu and Ketu were in the Aquarius–Leo Axis in the natal chart. The moment the querist said he wanted to consult for his daughter, it could be presumed that the query was for a case of late marriage combinations and the native could also be born in 1985 also since in 1985 Saturn was in Scorpio also and approx. the age of the person for whom the query has been raised is about 30 years. In 1985 also Saturn was in Scorpio with Ketu in such cases influencing the marriage parameters and houses of marriage and in transit Saturn aspecting Rahu in Leo, If native was born between 1988-1989 the RahuKetu axis was connected to the marriage house parameters and specially in the 1/7 axis of the

1. Rahu is Up-Karaka for marriage and after every 9 years approx. Rahu-Ketu come over the same axis in the natal chart, hence those native would put queries who have Ketu in Leo and Rahu in Aquarius in the natal chart and are roughly born between 3rd Feb 1988 to 18th Oct. 1989 and more towards the transit degrees of Saturn or Rahu in transit. It was found this happening in most of the cases related to marriage. Rahu-Ketu complete one Paraya in 18 years 6 months and 9 days and if 16 | Oct.-Dec. 2016

natal chart or with Karaka for marriage Venus. Hence the age of the querist for whom the query is raised could be told roughly as above 1985 or 1988-1989 born, As a good astrologer, if one remembers the transit of Rahu-Ketu and Saturn degrees and the same degrees approx. in the year 1985 and in 1988 approx. then the native's month of birth could also be found, since then the transit Rahu-Ketu degrees will be almost on the natal Rahu-Ketu degrees. As far as Saturn was concerned, it was more so with the navamsha sign also apart from the natal Saturn in Scorpio. Amazingly then one could reach almost the month and the year of the querist. 2. Jupiter is Karaka for spouse and finances. In transit Jupiter was afflicted in stationary position on the 9th Jan. 2016 by Rahu and aspects of Saturn forming a worst Guru Chandal Yoga in transit. 3. When Mars and Saturn were in conjunction in Scorpio after 20th Feb. 2016 in transit and again when Mars re-entered Scorpio on the the 12th July 2016 and if the query was of career,

the native was wearing red shirt and dark blue jeans and the conjunction of Mars and Saturn in the 10th or the 11th house of the Prashna chart. In number of cases, it was observed and could also predict the colour of the clothes worn by the querist. Some examples to explain the above findings : Case 1. One query on the 18th August 2016 at 19-10 hrs. New Delhi indicated a disease Prashna and Moon was in the Lagna at 4.13 degrees and the querist was wearing white shirt with blue lines prominent and dark blue pants, White is significator of Moon and Blue Venus and Saturn Dark Blue. Moon is the 6th Lord of the Chart in the Lagna aspecting 7th house along with Saturn from the 10th house, Venus aspecting the Lagna from where the 7th house of disease sprouting. Moon is in the 1st Dreshkan and hence the disease is in the head to neck. Since the native is wearing white shirt, in the Upper Portion, the disease is in the Upper portion of the body has blue lines indicated by Venus and since upper portion Venus commands

Taurus sign, the disease is on the face, Lagna is in the 2nd navamsha, from head to neck we have 3 navamsha and since 4.13 degrees the disease is on the Forehead and Face and since the expired portion of the lagna is very little out of the house of 30 degrees, the disease has just sprouted and since the portion which has to be transitted by Moon in the Lagna is very little the disease is on the right hand side of the querist's face and forehead. Querist was also told that since Moon and Ketu are placed in the Lagna, the disease is a complicated one and the diagnosis of the doctor will not be correct in the first visit. The querist confirmed the same that the doctor was unable to clearly pinpoint the disease. The ailing person had blisters on the right hand side of the forehead and around the right eye. Astrologically speaking, any planet which has just ingressed in the 7th house from the 6th house could be responsible for the disease and so long it continues to be in the 7th house the native suffers for that period, if such Planet when ingresses in the 8th house and also becomes debilitated then it is worse. Sun ingressed in Leo, the 7th house on the 16th August 2016 evening hours therefore indicated heat and since the 6th house was aspected by Dhoom aprakashit planet by 8th aspect, the disease could be Odema a disease of the nerves. Aprakashit Graha plays a vital role in the query regarding disease, hence the disease was Odema with Itching and heat. Amazingly the doctor concluded on the third visit that it was Odema with itches and Heat (Herpes -1) 18th August 2016, 19:10 hrs, New Delhi Navamsa Chart

In this case as per predictions the girl was wearing pink blouse and black Jeans and she was 1988 born and Mars and Saturn were in the Lagna with Scorpio sign asking about her Marriage.

Case 3. Querist informed that he was wearing red shirt facing West and was 1965 born and his query was for career, latter upon opening the Prashna chart it was found that Mars and Saturn were in the 8th house and Aries Lagna rising in the Prashna and the native had lost his job which was told to him. The querist was amazed and confirmed all what was told to him. Case 4 Native called and as per the planetary positions the querist was informed that he is born in 1982 and was wearing red shirt and dark blue Jeans and query was for Financial stagnation in buisness, since Mars and Saturn in the 11th house of the chart, the querist was amazed at the facts told to him. Later it was found that he also had Mars and Saturn Connection in his chart in trik Bhavas Hence from the above it is clear that the state of the querist is utmost important and if we take the vital parameters in Prashna then we could conclude much better.

The Native approached 3 days before the Eclipse on the 4th April 2015 and since Sun was also totally eclipsed by Ketu in the 8th house, the querist was asked what happened to your Father on the 5th Oct. 2014. ? Since the previous eclipse had taken place on the 8th Oct 2014 and substracting the 3 days as above the 5th Oct. 2014. The querist was amazed and confirmed the date and informed that it was a fatal day for her Father who expired on that day. As per the Planetary positions it

For the fulfilment or such desires, one who possesses some element of luck or athrishtam besides talent, only can succeed. What are the basic attributes one must possess? Vedic Astrology has a clear answer. During Vedic times, some thousand years back, there was indeed no TV or cinema. But in Royal courts poetry, music, dance, drama etc were patronised and rewarded. Suicide - Astrological Analysis

By Gaurav Malhotra

Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Suicide is often committed out of despair, the cause of which is attributed to a mental disorder such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, alcoholism or drug abuse. Stress factors such as financial difficulties or troubles with interpersonal relationships often play a significant role.

One thing is sure that a person will commit suicide only at a time when he is extremely depressed and unhappy. Lots of negative thoughts would be roaming around his mind. Let us now put this in astrological terms.

If Lagnesh is weak, the overall personality of the native may be pessimistic and negative.

Fourth House : Fourth House is called sukh sthan i.e. comfort house. If there are afflictions to this house, native will not be happy and comfortable. Malefic planets like Mars, Saturn (Karaka of Sorrow), Rahu in this house cause great damage. If the lord of fourth house is also

It shows how much harmony we have within ourselves. If this is afflicted the person may become insane. Trik Bhavas : 6th, 8th and 12th houses represent depression, anxiety, extreme anguish, debts, enemies, death etc. so they will also play an important part in bringing the person to the edge of Navamsa Chart

Lagnesh is placed in another trik bhava i.e. 6th house which is making it weak.

Let us first look at his fourth house. It is under heavy affliction. Mars, which is the lord of 8th and 3rd house and extremely malefic, is placed in this house. This is extremely bad combination. Moreover Saturn, the planet of sorrow is aspecting the 4th house. The lord of fourth house is in 12th house which is the house

Moon the karaka of mind is placed in 10th house; in the house of his enemy. Mars, from fourth house, is aspecting it; making it weak. Fifth House is also under malefic influence as Rahu from 9th house is aspecting it and the lord of fifth house is placed in the 7th house which is a marak sthan. Sun, the lord of a malefic house, is aspecting it; making the 5th house further weak. So, we can see some severe afflictions in his horoscope which made him commit suicide. Crystal Healing

Crystal Healing By Mansi Brar Fernandes

Crystal healing is an ancient healing technique which was practiced by our ancestors and has been passed down the centuries all over the world. If we turn back the pages of history, we can see the ancient people understood the healing power of crystals and the royal families especially the rulers, kings wore crystals such as Lapis lazuli in their head dresses to bring wisdom. Crystals like tiger’s eye, turquoise and carnelian were shaped into amulets and pendants and were also buried with the owner in their tomb to guide them in their last journey. Crystals are powerful energy conductors, and their attractive colours, shapes and inclusions (foreign substance enclosed in the mineral) all influence how they magnify energies.

M

ost of the illness and diseases are caused by energy imbalance, usually a reduced flow of life force throughout the chakras. Our Chakras have a sympathetic resonance with crystals and they assist us in re-aligning, balancing and energising the chakras into appropriate functions. Crystals are considered as the Earth’s DNA as they are formed when hot gases and mineral solutions rose to the surface due to volcanic eruptions and we all know how powerful the earth energy is. Most of us must have heard our mothers saying during our childhood days to apply mud at the wounded area as it heals quickly. The same principle is applicable in crystals too since they are the gift from our spirit guides and mother earth to the humanity.

Bismuth Crystal Crystals heal holistically as they work on all the levels of being say physical, emotional, spiritual and mental. When it comes to collecting a crystal, trust your intuition and let it guide you. Moreover, try to have some idea what you want to do with them. For instance, do you want them to look attractive in your room, transform the energies in the room, or do you wish to use them for healing purposes? Once you are clear with the intention, then select accordingly, like if one wants to stimulate his or her third eye chakra or wants to improve the

As we shop for crystals, we may discover that some of them are human made, while others are created naturally by mother earth. Organically formed crystals contain the wisdom of earth’s cycles, while the artificially treated might have a younger energy or at times they have no vibration. For instance, the sunshine aura quartz or Bismuth (which has been treated manually most of the time by heating it in order to get the rainbow or colourful effect). It’s very rare to find it nowadays which is naturally heated. 29 | Oct.-Dec. 2016

It has been seen that people use Rose Quartz as a love crystal. However, being the member of quartz family it amplifies the current energy which can be backfired at times. So, after the purpose of Rose quartz is over one should keep it back, that’s why Rhodochrosite is recommended as it is a safe crystal to use. After you get your Crystal home, it is very important to cleanse your crystal in order to release any old toxic energy as it may have absorbed from its previous owner or from the place you have got it. It’s a great way to create a bond between you and your crystal as it will get attuned to your personal energy. There are many ways to purify them like by cleansing them in the normal tap water, placing them on Amethyst & Citrine cluster or inside geodes or cathedrals, burying them in the earth, smoke of incense, flower therapies, by invoking angels, visualization and meditation, sound therapy, infusing them with sunlight or

Crystal Healing moonlight (again this method depends on particular crystal, for instance Amethyst will fade when place under sunlight, however one can place it under the moonlight). Similarly, crystals like Desert Rose and Selenite can be easily melted when placed in water and due to high content of sulphur in Pyrite it is also avoided to cleanse it under water. In such cases, Pyrite can be placed under Sun and crystals like Selenite etc. can be cleansed while using other methods. It has been often observed that people dip their crystals in sea salt water without realizing that this process is simply fading and damaging them. The best way to deal with this is to make 3 clockwise circles of rock salt around your crystal and leave your crystal in that circle for around 12 hours and later on dissolve that salt in water and flush it away. For attuning or to connect to the full power of your crystal, hold it in your dominant hand and feel its power radiating into the manifestation chakras on your palms, then out into your whole being. Always remember that your crystal and your own manifestation powers work together in synergy.

Crystal Healing Crystals can also be taped in place, or worn for much longer periods in the form of bracelet or pendent for healing or prevention; or they can be kept in a pocket or placed around your bed or room. To overcome cold, place the polished Green Fluorite over your nose for 5 minutes and then on your forehead for the same time, letting the crystal fight the virus and clear congestion and for flu related issues hold it to your chest for 10 minutes and sense the crystal’s vibrations lowering your fever. Further, for energy enhancement, attraction, release or protection we can use the layouts and grids which are the art of placing the crystals around a person or place. Although a grid is laid out flat, it creates a multi-dimensional energy web around it. Each layout has a specific purpose and effect where different crystals can be used and the layouts can be adapted to different purposes. Always lay the crystals down slowly, with focused intention and by connecting with the power of crystal. Use the power of your mind or a wand can be used to join grids. Feng shui

Feng Shui for Wealth By Pt. Gopal Sharma

T

he Chinese traditionally believe that the material well being of people is governed by three types of luck i.e. heaven, earth and the individual self. Heaven luck (Fate or Karma), beyond the control of humans, determines the circumstances of our birth and our destiny. Heaven luck determines if an individual is destined for greatness or doomed to obscurity. Feng-Shui wisdom guides us for improving Earth luck and Human luck which, unlike Heaven luck, is within our control and which if properly activated, may alter our fate. Good Feng Shui, does not bring you wealth if you do not strive for it; but it does give you the necessary support to seek fame and fortune. It helps you create an environment, both at home and at the workplace, that will strengthen you and attract the energies to manifest your wealth. This ancient Chinese wisdom teaches that the Wealth area is in the far left corner of your home, and in the corresponding corner of each room. If you are having problems with abundance, prosperity or money-related matters, these are important areas to look at.

All enlightened readers, you should find out the wealth areas within your office, living room, kitchen, and bedroom. Now that you've identified your money power spots, here are some quick and easy ways to apply feng shui to these spaces: • Clear out clutter : Clutter is a sign of stagnant energy, and clutter in your money power spots can block your cash flow. Getting rid of clutter is one of the most powerful ways to shift the energy into high gear. • Enhance with symbols of prosperity : Use symbols, such as a bowl of coins (add your loose change to it every day), a "lucky bamboo" plant, or anything that symbolizes success and prosperity to you. There are lots of Chinese luck symbols available, but you don't have to use them unless you want to. A picture of your dream house, or a model of that luxury car you long for, is an effective money symbol because it has personal meaning for you. • Accent with green and purple : Green symbolizes vitality and growth and purple is the colour of wealth. Place a bowl full of green and purple grapes (real or artificial) in the wealth area of your kitchen, to symbolize abundance filling your home. If

Feng shui you use real grapes, it's okay to eat them, just add more from time to time so the grapes remain fresh and the bowl is always more than half full. • Fix broken things : Anything that doesn't work as it should, is a sign of something wrong in the area of your life that corresponds to that part of your space. Examine each of your money power spots to look for anything that needs repair. It's time to do something about that loose doorknob, non-working light switch, stuck file drawer, or faulty telephone or clock that doesn't keep correct time, to name few examples. Remove items like these or fix them so they work properly. • How you handle money : Do you keep paper money neatly sorted in your wallet or money clip, or is it jammed in there any old way, or crumpled up at the bottom of your pocket? Clean the clutter out of your purse and wallet, and start handling your money as though you value it. • Balance your cheque book : Put your cheque book in an attractive cover (choose green, purple, red or black) and keep it in the wealth area of your desk - that's the rear left corner again -or in the wealth area of your office. If you neglect your money, it will neglect you. • Check your exteriors : Now go outside, have a look at the shape of your house, is

it a regular shape? Is the paintwork in good condition or needs repair? Can you walk up your front door without tripping over plant pots or skateboards? Is it inviting? Are there any lam ppos ts outside or large trees close to front? Is the pathway to door too straight? Are there dead leaves around the edges and in borders? Have you fixed the fence panel that blew down in the winter or rain? Cleared the rubbish from behind the shed or garage? The most important thing to remember is that you do not have trouble getting to your front door. Make sure the pathway is clear and even lit at night. • Sleeping, Dining and Cooking for wealth : How your food is cooked also has a bearing on the quality of your luck. While cooking face towards the wealth direction, while dining select your chair that faces the wealth direction. Place a full length mirror in the dining to reflect the food on the table, which doubles the food. This is regarded as excellent wealth FengShui. After a good meal make sure you have a good night sleep. Do not sleep under any overhead beam, foot of the bed does not point to the door and your head does not point to North. • Live generously: Money is a form of energy, and it needs to flow through your life, not just

33 | Oct.-Dec. 2016

RESEARCH JOURNAL into it. Holding work against more coming in, while giving generously within your means makes space for even greater abundance. If you don't yet have ample money to share, give as generously as you can of your time, energy, compassion and appreciation. • Express your gratitude: Small things count, too, so it's okay if there's little of the spectacular on your list most of the time. It's not what happened that's important; it's getting in the habit of focusing on the positive side of things every day that matters. The more you notice, appreciate

Feng shui and express gratitude for blessings received, no matter how small, the more good things will come your way, including money. A true experience of prosperity is determined not by how much money you have, but by how well you notice and enjoy what is already present in your life. The formal name for the wealth area is "fortunate blessings" - as you de-clutter, repair, and accessorize your money power spots keep this broader meaning in mind. When you celebrate being rich in friends and family or rich with laughter or the richness of your spiritual life or even being rich in air and sunshine if nothing else seems to be going well for you today, material blessings will come to you more readily as well.         r

Kua Number & Its Significance

By Dr. Manoj Kumar Editor

The concept of Kua Number stems from the Feng Shui Eight Mansions system. In this system, all of us have a Kua Number that is dependent on our date of birth and sex. In the Eight Mansions system, it is believed that we are imprinted with the energy of the time of our birth. Based on your ‘imprint’, certain directions are favourable and others are not. This ‘imprint’ is expressed as our Kua Number. How do we make use of this Kua Number? You should sleep and sit facing the directions that are favourable to you. Suppose you are a male with the Kua Number 7. Your favourable directions are NW, SW, NE and W.

I

f you look at the Kua Number carefully, you will notice that there are meanings attached to each of the favourable and unfavourable direction. For a Kua Number 7 person, NW is his prosperity direction, SW is health and so on. If you are aspiring for more money, for a promotion or better business, then you should try to face the Sheng Chi (Living Chi) or Prosperity direction. If your health is not so great, then try the Tian Yi (Heavenly Doctor) or Health direction. If your social life is in a doldrum or you lack good people interaction skills, you should try to face your Nian Yen or Relationship direction. Finally if you have everything that you need and just want a peaceful, uneventful life, then try the Fu Wei or Stability direction. In the Eight Mansions system, the house also has a Kua Number which is determined by the sitting direction of the house. There are favourable and unfavourable sectors. For maximum effect with the Eight Mansions system, you should not just face your favourable directions but also locate yourself in a favourable sector.

In Flying Star Feng Shui, energy groups split into two main directions, East and West. Your Kua Number determines which directions are the most auspicious for you. Once you determine

your Kua Number, you can discover the best directions in which to face when sleeping, for your career, your r e l a t i on s h i ps , b u s i n e s s dealings and practically any other situation that arises in your life. Methods to Calculate Kua Number Depending on the method of calculation you use, your number may vary a bit. Here are two methods on how to calculate a Kua Number: 1. Add the last two digits of your birth year together - For example, if you were born in 1974, you would add 7+4=11. 2. If the above number has two digits, add those together - Using the above example: 7+4=11 then, 1+1=2. 3. If you are female, add five to the number in step two.

35 | Oct.-Dec. 2016

RESEARCH JOURNAL 4. If you are male, subtract the number in step two from 10. · For females, using the above example, the math looks like this: - 7+4=11 - 1+1=2 - 2+5=7 - The Number 7 is the Kua Number. For males, using the above example, the · math looks like this: - 7+4 =11 - 1+1 =2 10-2 =8 - - Number 8 is the Kua Number because you don’t have to deal with negatives. Alternative Method : 1. Add the numbers of your birth year together - So if you were born in 1974 then you would add 1+9+7+4=21 2. Add the two digits from step one together If it’s just one digit, skip this step. 3. For females, divide the number in step one by 9 - So, the math would be 21/9=2 remainder 3. 4. Add four to the remainder - So, 3+4=7. Number 7 is the Kua Number. 5. For males, divide by 9, then take the remainder and subtract it from the number 11 - Using the example above: 21/9=2 remainder 3. 113=8. Number 8 is the Kua Number. Eight Sectors

RESEARCH JOURNAL Lucky Numbers Picking lucky numbers isn’t something you do at random when using Feng Shui principles. There are certain numbers in Feng Shui that are considered to be auspicious or bringers of good luck and fortune. By the same token there are inauspicious numbers that are avoided whenever possible or at the least the influence and power they have is minimized or circumvented. It’s one thing to know your Kua Number but quite another to know how to use it. This number will attract certain energies to you. You can optimize these energies or forces by enhancing your Kua Number. To do this, you need to understand the powerful force of your Kua Number.

Feng shui In Feng Shui, two is very lucky, especially when it comes to personal relationships and wealth. Whenever the Chinese give gifts, they do so in multiples. Two is the least multiple used. Always double whatever gift you give. If you normally give a child three gifts for a birthday, then give her six to increase luck. How to Maximize Auspicious Numbers There are other ways you can maximize auspicious numbers. You can combine numbers with other lucky symbols.

The double happiness symbol can be combined with an infinity symbol, known as the mystic knot. This knot is always created by using a series of six infinity knots tied together. If you use these two symbols together along with your Kua Number, If your Kua Number is 7, then you should use this then you create a very powerful symbol that is number whenever possible.
