Judgment of Houses In every birth chart counted scriatini towards left from Lagna the basis acquire the name of death. An individual enjoys good result of a Bhava Commensurate with the strength of Bhava, Bhava Lord, Bhava Karaka (significator) and aspect on these.
By Sitaram Singh
• The depositor of the Bhava Lord is strong and well placed in Lagna or Navamsha Chart. • Bhava Lord enjoys Bhadra Panchka (auspicious dispositions, namely, Exaltation, Mooltrikona, own sign, sign of bossom friend or of a friendly planet). • The Bhava is free from malefic association or aspect. • There are no malefics in 6th, 7th or 8th house fom that Bhava. • A natural malefic also promotes Bhava result, when it happens to be in its own or exaltation sign.
W
hen a bhava is accupied or aspected by its lord, friend of Bhava Lord, strong Jupiter, Mercury, a benefic planet or Trikona lord, the person enjoys good result of that Bhava. A Bhava result increases when : • It has benefic planets on both sides (shubhkartari yoga). • The Bhava Karaka (Significator) is strong and flanked by benefics on both sides. • The Bhava lord or benefic planets are located in a Kendra or Trikona (1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10) from the Bhava.
• Association of lagna Lord or 11th house Lord with any Bhava or Bhava Lord augments its result. • But when the Bhava Lord is posited in 6th, 8th or 12th Bhava, or weak, or debilitated, then benefic planets posited in that Bhava do not give good result. The location and strength of Bhava Lord determines the final result. Timing of Bhava Result The planetary indications according to their location, strength, aspect and Yoga are experienced during the Dasa-Bhukti of the relevant planets. The mutual relation between the Dasa and Bhukti lords also influences the result.

Review Among the many Dasa systems in vogue to calculate fructification of results, vimshottari Dasha system is the most popular and applicable without any condition. The Dasha Bhukti-Antara details are invariably indicated in computerised horoscopes.
motion in transit. When such a planet becomes Retrograde in transit, it becomes overactive and gives medicre result.
The effect of a Dasha Lord is not fully experienced during its own Bhukti. One enjoys Bhava result during the Bhukti of other favourable planets. The Bhukti lord is Kendra, Trikona or Upachaya houses from the Dasha Lord, gives benefic result. The Bhukti Lod friendly to the Dasha Lord as well as to the Lagna Lord, disburses very good result during Bhukti period. The Bhukti lord in 6th, 8th and 12th Bhava from the Dasha Lord generally causes troubles and sorrow.
During the operation of a Dasha, wwhen the Bhukti Lord transits in its debilitation or inimical sign or is combust, the benefic result is considerably reduced.
The Bhukti Lord enhances the effect of the same house from Lagna as it is itself placed from the Dasha Lord. The benefic result of the Dasha Lord gets enhanced when it transits benefic houses from the Lagna or from the natal Moon. The results are considerably diminished during the transit of the Dasha and Bhukti Lord in inauspicious houses from Lagna or natal Moon. The Dasha of a planet located in Gadanta gives trouble, anxiety and fear, while the Dasha of a weak associate of Rahu gives trouble and misfortune. The Dasha of a planet on the last degree of Rashi (Sign) causes illness, troubles and agony according to its maleficence, except in common sign where it becomes Vargottam. The results are experienced when the Dasha Lord direct in natal horoscope becomes Retrograde in transit. The effect is more when it becomes stationary before getting etrograde and again before getting direct. The Dasha of a Regrograde planet in natal Chart yields greater result during direct
The result is experienced in large measure during Retrogression of Bhukti Lord and when it transits in a favourable Rashi.
Negative result also ensues when the Bhava Lord becomes debilitated or moves through an inimical sign in transit, or 8th house lord transits the house under consideration or where its lord or significator is posited, or in Trine to these. During the last Bhukti of the Dasha the result already in operation the individual experiences ups and downs. This is called Dasha Chidra period. During the operation of Dasha - Bhukti of Significator planets, the results fructify when the Lagna Lord, the Bhava Lord, the Karaka (Significator) or Jupiter transits through : • The Bhava under consideration • The Sign occupied by the Bhava Lord. • The Navamsha location of Bhava Lord. • The Trine from the above locations • The Bhava Lord and the Bhava Karaka (Significator) establish mutual relation during transit. Planets manifest their effect during tansit as under : • The Sun and Mars during the first onethird of a sign (0°-10°) • Jupiter and Venus in the middle one-third of the Sign (10°-20°) • The Moon and Satun in the last one-third of the sign (20°-30°) • Mercury and Rahu/Ketu give result during their transit through the whole sign. r

Astrology in Ancient Vedic Literature By Mahendra Prasad Singh
“Cassini, Bailly, Gentil, and Play fair maintain, that there are Hindoo observations extant which must have been made more than 3000 years before Christ, and which evince even then a very high degree of astronomical science.
W
e find in Ayen Ain-e-Akbari, a journal of the Emperor Akbar that the Hindus of former times assumed the diameter of a circle to be to its periphery as 1250 to 3927. The ratio of 1250 to 3927 is a very close approximation to the quadrature of the circle, and differs very little from that given by Metius, of 113 to 355. In order to obtain the result thus found by the Brahmins, even in the most elementary and simplest way, it is necessary to inscribe in a circle a polygon of 768 sides, an operation which cannot be performed arithmetically without the knowledge of some peculiar properties of this curved line, and at least an extraction of the square root of the ninth power, each to ten places of decimals. The Greeks and Arabs have not given anything so approximate.” The Theogony of Hindus with their Systems of Cosmology p36-37 : Count M John ; Murray ,London Objective Objective of the article is to prove that Jyotish Shastra has its roots in Vedas;the oldest scripture of the world as opposed to the widespread belief propagated by Western scholars, as well as Indian scholars that Jyotish Shastra has its origin in Greek and Babylonian civilization. Sri Biman Basu, the editor of most popular Science Magazine, ‘Science Reporter' writes: “Initially, astrology probably developed as a means of predicting the fates of dynasties, empires and nations and
was practiced only in royal courts. But soon, the notion of personal astrology developed in Alexandrian Egypt and spread through the Greek and Roman worlds about 2,000years ago from where it came to India. In fact, the astrology practiced in India is basically derived from Greek astrology and there is nothing like Vedic astrology.” -Astrology Sense or Nonsense,pg-vii, Biman Basu. This doctrine has been furthered due to three reasons 1. Ignorance of the facts. 2. Haughtiness to prove the supremacy of Western civilization. 3. Ignorance or underestimation of the intelligence of Hindu civilization due to the slavery of India. “Jyotish is the science which analyzes the navigation of brilliant celestial objects and the consequential mathematical relation among them and their influence on the earth” –Jyotish Piyush, pg-1, Pandit Kalyandatt Sharma. History of Jyotish Shastra is as old as the evolution of Homosapians. The curiosity of human beings regarding rivers, oceans, Sun, Moon and stars, rainbow, thunder, lightning, the special shapes of groups of stars and other natural phenomena like flood, storm etc. motivated them to observe, infer and speculate the influences of these bodies on the lives of human beings. The evolution and development of Jyotish Shastra can be contributed to this curiosity of human beings.

Review Western scholars believe that Seth (3769B.C.) was the first astrologer of the world. This belief is based on the writings of Arab and Greek scholars who firmly believed that it was Seth who first of all studied the planets, their speed and their orbits. He divided the Zodiac into 12 equal parts (Second Reader:Prof. K S. Krishnamurthy). But due to the prolonged slavery of India, contributions of Hindu Rishis to the domain of astrology were completely ignored by the Western scholars. Dr. Thompson has opined that Akkadians and Sumerians were the first to throw light on the sky and celestial bodies and outlined the planetary orbits. But later researches in the field revealed that Jyotish has its origin in Vedas. While reviewing the facts, Max Mueller reaches a very logical conclusion: “The twenty-seven constellations, which were chosen in India as a kind of lunar zodiac, were supposed to have come from Babylon. Now, the Babylonian zodiac was solar and in spite of repeated researches, no trace of the lunar zodiac has been found. But supposing even that a lunar zodiac had been discovered in Babylon, no one acquainted with Vedic literature and with the ancient Vedic Ceremonials would easily allow himself to be persuaded that the Hindu had borrowed that simple division of the sky from the Babylonians. It is well known that most of the Vedic sacrifices depend on the Moon far more than on the sun.” Source: Vol XIII, Lecture iv. ‘Objections ‘, pp 126-127, Bharatiya Jyotish: Nemichandra Shastri pg. 23 Max Mueller further writes: “We must never forget that what is natural in one place is natural in other place also and no case has been made out in favour of a foreign origin of the elementary astronomical notions of the Hindus as found or presupposed in Vedic hymns.”

(Muhurtchintamni, Piyushdhara) Each and every action of a Hindu is performed by consulting a jyotishi or family Jyotish consultant called Purohit. Jyotish is an integral part of Hindu lifestyle and culture. It is accepted and practiced by each and every individual of Hindu religion. People know well in advance about their festivals, ceremonies, solar and lunar eclipses and hence they plan accordingly. Traditions willingly accepted and followed by a society is not a coincidental or imposed affair. It is deeply embedded in the culture. Any belief, faith, dogma, custom, tradition and etiquette take thousands of years to form part of social life transforming into a culture. When a tradition is followed by all the members of a society without any consideration to caste, creed or financial status, then it forms part of their culture. A civilization takes thousands of years to become culture. It is in our genetic built up. So, it is quite evident that Jyotish must be rooted somewhere in our oldest scriptures. Describing the characteristics of Jyotish, Maharishi Narad says:

In every Hindu scripture and epic, Jyotish Shastra has been appreciated and applauded to be most essential for our various works whether social or religious. In every literary work viz Puranas, Upanishads, Mahabharata, Ramayana and others there is Jyotish. The importance given to Jyotish as evident from these literary works inspires one to delve deep for its origin.

These rites are to be performed in the specific time frames. So, the scholars, who are well versed in the knowledge of the science of time –Jyotish Shastra, they only know the sacrifices. This further reiterates that Jyotish must be found in our ancient scriptures- Vedas for proving its roots in Hindu culture. Western scholars ignored the fact that there must be some reason for Jyotish being an integral part of the Aryan culture. Greeks learnt Jyotish from Hindus: Unfortunately, due to the mixing of Greek words in our Jyotish terminology, many scholars have opined that Hindus have borrowed this knowledge from Greece. But this is not the fact, they often quote some words as proof of their belief viz. Hora, Hibuk (4th house of the natal chart), Apoklim (3, 6, 9, 12 house), Dreshkan (one-third of a
Review Rashi), Kantak (4th house), Panfar (2, 5, 8, 11 houses), Anafa, Sunafa, Durdhura (specific yogas), Tung (exaltation house), Musallah (Navamsa), Muntha (particular sign in the Ascendant of a particular year) Induvar, Itthshal, Israf, Yamana, Manau (Yogas of tazik). In fact, Aryavarta was the seat of learning in ancient times as America in these days. Students and scholars from various countries used to come here for the study of different Shastras. Due to those interactions, many words crept into scriptures, which were written in the 3rd century BC and afterwards. It is well known that the Oxford Dictionary includes many words from different languages every year. This is considered essential for a language to survive and enrich itself. W. W. Hunter has written that Arabian scholars learnt Jyotish in India in the 9th century A.D. and translated theories of Indian Jyotish in Arabic in the book, ‘Sind Hind’ (Hunter Indian gazetteer – India p218, Bharatiya Jyotish : Nemichandra Shastri) Jyotish has scientific footing: Jyotish Shastra is defined as: “T;ksfr"kkalw;kZfnxzgk.kkacks/kda'kkL=e~”. Branch of knowledge which enables us to comprehend about planets and time is called Jyotish (Astrology). Jyotish is basically that branch of knowledge which deals with planets, stars, their position and navigation in the heaven, the timing of eclipses and their influences on human life, etc. Shad- vedang consisting of the following branches of knowledge is described in almost all ancient Sanskrit literature ; 1.
Shiksha – Phonetics

Review predictive astrology. Astrology was very important. The basic concept of Astrology is that all the events in this world are being influenced by the movement of celestial bodies. Newton’s law of gravity proved that all the objects attract each other. Researches in the field of Atomic Physics revealed that various types of electromagnetic rays emanating from celestial bodies are being radiated in every direction. They interfere with our communication systems and almost every activity being carried out by electronic devices is causing obstructions in the movement of airplanes, TV broadcasts and almost in every electronic communication during an outburst of Solar flares. It appears that these research works are novel and unique. But it is not so, knowledge of our Rishis was far ahead of today’s revelations. They have perceived that celestial bodies navigating in the unfathomable depth of cosmos influence not only the human activities but also the natural phenomena occurring on earth. Their impact is even more subtle. A school boy traces the magnetic line of forces in the laboratory, the magnetic field of the Earth acts on the sensitive needle of the compass. Planets are moving as dictated by gravitational force exerted by each other. In a similar fashion, our blood and cells made up of minerals are affected by gravitational forces, magnetic and cosmic radiations reaching our earth. There are a large number of evidence in Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads and other ancient scriptures thatAstrology is based on scientific facts. For various upheavals witnessed by the natives of the mother Earth sources and processes of the ancient knowledge available in literature have vanished. An American scholar Mr. Wheeler Willox writes: “we have all heard and read about the ancient religion of India. It is the land of the great Vedas, the most remarkable
works, containing not only religious ideas on a perfect life but also facts which all the sciences have since proved true. Electricity, Radium, Electrons, Airships, all seem to be known to the seers who found the Vedas” (Sublimity of the Vedas, page 83). Acharya Satyavrata Samashrami, a renowned scholar of Vedic Literature writes “Our opinion is that, in Vedic times, our country had made extraordinary progress, in those days the sciences of Geology, Astronomy and Chemistry were called “Adhidaivik Vidya” and those of Physiology, Psychology, and Theology were called “Adhyatma Vidya”. Though the works embodying the scientific knowledge of those times are entirely lost, there are sufficient indications in Vedic works regarding those sciences having been widely known in those days” (Trayi-chatushtaya,Preface, VII.IX) Shantipath Creation of positive ambiance: These days a large number of books written by Western as well as Indian writers are available in the market which contemplates to motivate us for having a positive approach towards life even when life is not sailing smooth. Our Vedic Rishis had understood the impact of these positive thoughts. So, chanting of auspicious hymns before any work was considered essential. They had perceived the varity of nature and influence of our auspicious or inauspicious words or thoughts on natural elements as well as our emotions and actions. Development of our intellectual wisdom in historical perspective: Dr. Radha Ballabh Tripathi a great scholar of Sanskrit literature has summarized the development of our intellectual wisdom in four stages (India’s Intellectual Traditions, p7): • The age of origination from 3000 BC to 1000 BC • The age of evolution – one millennium from 100BC
17 | Jan.-Mar. 2019
RESEARCH JOURNAL • The age of development – the first millennium AD • The age of expansion and cultivation of branches of knowledge – second millennium AD He further writes: “conspiracy of silence functions at several levels – ignoring Indian indigenous technologies, creating a divide between the practices and theory of the knowledge systems and denial of the attempts at viewing the knowledge system in holistic perspective. The knowledge systems like Vyakarana, Jyotisha, (Astronomy and mathematics), Chhandas (prosody), Alankara (Literary theory and Aesthetics), Natyasastra etc. developed through the above –mentioned four stages in India. They remained vibrant and constantly growing”. Number System our intellectual achievement Indian sages invented number system along with mathematical tools of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division long before 1000 BC. Our Yagya Vedies were made on the basis of geometrical principles. There is one fundamental theorem in mathematics – “The square on the hypotenuse of a rightangled triangle is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides” this theorem is attributed to Pythagoras. It is amazing that it is exactly described in Sulbasutras.

This further reiterates the fact that origin and development of the number system is undoubtedly of Aryan origin. “In arithmetic, all nations agree that all the orders of numbers (eg. one, ten, hundred, thousand) stand in a certain relation to the number ten; that each order is the tenth part of the following and the ten fold of
Review the preceding. The Arabs too stop with the thousand. Those, however, who go beyond the thousand in their numeral system, are the Hindus at least in their arithmetical technical terms. They extend the names of the orders of numbers until the 18th order for religious reasons, the mathematicians being assisted by grammarians with all kinds of etymologies”. -(Alberuni's India, vol -1 p 174-177) Development of number system can be attributed to Great Rishi Meghatithi, whose name appears in Rigveda and Yajurveda. 313 hymns of First Mandal of Rigveda are attributed to Meghatithi. To express numbers in the form of Power of 10 is the bewildering intellectual achievement of Vedic Rishi Meghatithi. One hymn of Yajurveda created by Meghatithi is fascinating and amazing.

Review Shastra has origins in Vedas. Great sages of the Vedic era were capable of delving deep into the varity of celestial phenomena. They identified distant stars (Nakshatras) influencing our course of actions, natural calamities, rains etc. By dint of amazing intuition, they were able to permeate and penetrate the root behind an event and unfold the mysteries of the Universe by the power of meditation. The Most fascinating Eclipses Scholars are concurrent that Dirghtamas Rishi has created 242 hymns of the First Mandal of Rig-Veda. He studied the movement of Earth, Sun and Moon. He calculated the period of Lunar month Solar year, unit of time. We have an indication of the Solar eclipse in Rik-Samhita –

Dr. Nemichandra has observed that Constellations of Stars (nakshatras) were known to Indians during the period 10001 to 500 BC.

All the planets are peace giver like Moon for us. Rahu alongwith Sun is the bestower of peace. Mrityu, Dhoom and Ketu also be the bestower of peace. Rudras having blinding brilliance be the bestower of peace. Who are the Moon like planets? They are Mars, Mercury, Jupiter Venus and Saturn. Sun does not revolve around any planet so it has been given different category. As we all know Rahu and Ketu are not visible they are points of intersection of orbits of Moon and earth so they are called shadow planets. But assessing its influence on our life, sages have categorized them as planets. In this way, there are 9 planets. This hymn contains names of Dhoom and Mrityu, which are sensitive mathematical points called Upgrahas or Aprakash (without light) grah. They also influence our lives. These hymns of Atharv-veda summarize the influence of Nakshatras on the Earth and its inhabitants. They establish a relationship between celestial bodies and human world:

Now, see the origin of the present KP system. How the Moon strengthens the Stars? As we know planets perform the significations of the Star-lord. In our worldly parlances co‑operating with the boss and fulfilling the desires of our boss surely strengthens the boss. Our Vimshottari Dasha system is based on the Moons’ navigation in particular star. Upanishads say, “Yatapinde tat Brahmande”. That which is true for a unit is true for the universe. ife is beset with good and bad, health and disease. No living being is free from health problem at one time or other. Medical science can diagnose the disease only when it occurs. It is only astrology and palmistry that can warn about a pending disease. The life of a person is governed by the planetary influences which can be read from the horoscope of a person. The main function of medical astrology is to provide an indication as to whether the planetary influences at the time of an illness are likely to be advantageous or disadvantageous to the sufferer. A medical Astrologer may consider the following factors while studying a chart with respect to disease;

This effect will be felt during particular Dasha, Antardasha of concerned planets in the life of a person. Some chronic or permanent disabilities occur in accordance with the placement of malefic planets in adverse positions. Occasional physical disabilities and disturbances occur due to the astrological factors in time. The signs, the planets and the houses considered from Moon sign have their own significance pertaining to certain organs. To study the health aspect the significance of signs, houses and the planets should be super imposed and synchronized in an effective way. Palmistry helps very much in such cases. Reading the lines of the palm can provide the information about the diseases well in advance, that is even difficult to diagnose using modern lab equipment in a hospital. See what the editorial of Journal of American Medical Association writes: "The human hand is a unique organ from which an extraordinary amount of clinical information may be derived". Let us now try to understand how to diagnose some diseases by observing the nails of the fingers and the lines in the palm. While observing the lines, observe them in both the palms. If the above indications are found in both the hands, then the above conclusions can be confirmed. If the above indications appear in only one palm, then we can say the person is prone to that disease. 27 | Jan.-Mar. 2019

How to Find Indications for Divorce in Marriage Research objectives Yada Sikha mayuranam naganam manayo yada Tad vat vedanta sashtranam Jyotisham moordhanistitam. Astrology is supreme among Vedic sciences just like the peacock’s tail and the gem on the head of the snake. It is one of the main Vedangas. It’s a Sasanath Sashtramuchyate, which means it’s the shastra which dictates itself and hence is the proof. Jyotish means path of light which helps us understand past karma and its impact on this life. Jyotisham or astrology is nothing but time management which is an effect of the karma theory. Karma siddhanta says whatever deeds you may have done in the previous births, its impact will be experienced in the current births. By analysing our past and present karma through the manifestation of the influence of the planets, signs and nakshatras in our lives, Jyotisham is used to tell the future. You can influence your past by positive actions and can overcome negative effects of past karma through right actions and remedies. Marriage is the most important social contract human beings enter into. One ceremony and legal signing of documents can lead to a whole new life where we chose a partner to share our lives with. And here, we have the importance of Jyotisham to help us make sure we have made the right decision.By using Jyotish especially for marriage match making, we can ensure the prevention of the breakdown of society due to huge increase of divorces. It is very important to conduct research and show empirical evidence as to why it is important to match charts and also evaluate each horoscope for yogas denoting separation

and divorce. Only when such research is done on a larger scale, can we manage to convince the new generation through hard researched data as to why divorces occur and how to choose wisely in order to avoid such predicaments in their life. The main houses for marriage For a marriage happiness or sorrow and for judging divorce in astrology are 4th house, 7th house, 8th house and 12th house. Apart from this, we need to check Jaimini astrology to check Upapada Lagna(UL) and second house from Upapada Lagna. The second house from Upapada Lagna shows the stability or sustenance of the marriage. If the 2nd from UL is having malefic planets like Rahu, Mars or aspect of Malefic planets, it shows the divorce chance in astrology. 4th house is happiness from Family. When 4th house or 4th Lord is afflicted, there is no happiness got from family. If the 4th house is strong and 4th lord is well placed, divorce will not take place even if there are other indications for divorce in the charts. 7th house is the Main House for Marriage. So, if the 7th house is afflicted and 7th lord is a weak lord due to malefic placements or malefic influences of other planets, it can be predicted that the individual is unable to enjoy a happy marriage. If 8th house is afflicted or 8th lord makes connection with 7th lord or house or malefic aspect or are posited in it, then it spoils the marriage and conjugal happiness. 12th house is known as the house for bed pleasures. It’s the house of loss and hence any connection with any other house results in loss for that house. It also indicates

Gender Determination Through Vedic Astrology By Rudresh M Shastri
Abstract : Vedic Astrology covers almost all important phases of our life. If we understand the concepts and combinations of planets, then it can produce extremely accurate results - certainly in Gender prediction. Based on this, the objective was formed: To know the accuracy of predicting the gender of baby through Vedic Horoscopes of parents with the help of 1. Brihat Jatak translated into English by N.Chidambaram Iyer, 1885 June 2, and 2. Fourth Reader- Marriage, Married Life and Children by Krishnamurti Paddhathi, 1989. The collected data of 100 children (58 Male and 42 Female babies) already born with parents Vedic horoscopes transformed into numerical format was put for statistical tests under Data Mining techniques. It is the process of discovering patterns in large data sets involving methods at the intersection of machine learning, statistics and database systems. The analysis methods used in the process shows that, the pattern of prediction was true for 25 male and 15 female babies as per True positive (Male baby predicted as Male) and True negative (Female baby predicted as Female) based on parents Lagna. Further, the data was examined based on present absent criteria of planets in respective houses, which resulted in 29 male recorded in True positive and 9 female recorded in True negative. Then the left out data was tested based on proportion of each house filling criteria, which resulted in 14 female babies and recorded in True negative. The undecided data was 4 in male gender under True positive and 3 in female gender under True negative, which resulted in no planets in respective houses. Remaining 1 data was predicted as Male for Female gender which is under False Negative. The overall success ratio was recorded as 92% in
which 54% was Male and 38% was Female babies. The results from the proportion tests based on present absent criteria of planet in respective houses showed that, first child from eleventh house (opposite to Fifth House) of father horoscope and second child from seventh house in both father and mother horoscope was significant for gender prediction of baby with P Value= 0.002, 0.003 and 0.003 respectively. Introduction: Astrology is the language of symbols and the forethought which symbolizes by the saying, "As Above, So Below" or "That which is Above is the Same as that which is Below". RESEARCH JOURNAL are inseparably entangled. There are 12 Zodiacal signs and same as 12 Astrological houses. Each house is in analogy with one of the signs and rules a particular area of our life. Based on the houses, the posited planets articulate their dynamism. The basic fact and procedure is of astronomical or chronological interest, and there is some evidence that the main reason for the research and development in astrology in recent years was the wish to be able to know, what the future is? Materials used : In this cross checked empirical study, an attempt is made to analyze the text of following books; 1)The book of Brihat Jatak originally written in Sanskrit was translated into English by N.Chidambaram Iyer, B.A, F.T & Founder of “The Tiruvadi Jotistantra Sabha”, 1885 June 2, Printed In Madras- Tamil Nadu, Available at Harvard College Library, Digitized by Google. 2) Astrology Book on Marriage, Married Life & Children, 1989–by Krishnamurthi Paddhati. The above books say about the gender predictions of baby through Planets and its positions in Vedic Horoscope. Digital book of Brihat Jatak is one of the oldest Sanskrit literature translated into English is available to us in digital world. Even today it’s surprising that how it is possible to make such accurate predictions based on specific houses. Data Mining Methods and Techniques:

Data Mining Concept: Vedic horoscopes were converted into numerical as per the numbers assigned in table 2.1.1 and then the data was given for testing under the data mining techniques. The data was converted manually using the Microsoft Excel which facilitated the Indian statistical Institute for further analysis process. Provided data was examined by the institute and various methods were used for cross checking the pattern of predictions written by authors.
It is a process of discovering patterns in large data sets, involving methods at the intersection of machine learning, statistics, and database systems. A sample of 20 children’s horoscopes with their parents (Father and Mother) details like date, time and place of birth were collected, which were checked manually in initial stage and then further the data of 80 children with parents born from different states and cities of India and abroad were collected. The total data analyzed is 100 children gender with parents’ details. 34 | Jan.-Mar. 2019

Chart showing Overlapping Lagna pairs of parents which cannot decide the gender of baby. Chi-square analysis- Overlapping Lagna in Vedic Horoscope: We have 60 children left undecided by overlapping Lagna of parents. These children cover the remaining 21 Lagna pairs of parents out 50 total Lagna pairs. Based on the overlapping Lagna pairs the gender of baby cannot be decided because the occurrence of Male and Female gender is observed in repeated Lagnas pairs of parents. Chi-square analysis: All overlapping Lagna is tested using chisquare analysis method based on the number of planets present and absent in respective house. The 60 children were classified into three different groups A, B and C based on the Lagna. A group contains the Lagna pairs having only one male child and the Lagna pairs having only one female child and the results show that it is not possible to predict the gender of the baby as per Pearson chiSquare test. As the values are 15.4 and 12.6 when divided from 28 children’s. B group contains the Lagna pairs having two male children and the Lagna pairs having two female children and the results show that it is not possible to predict the gender of the baby as per Pearson chi-Square test. As the values are 11 and 9 when divided from 20 children’s. C group contains the Lagna pairs having three male children and the Lagna pairs having three female children and the results show that it is not possible to predict the gender of the baby as per Pearson chiSquare test. House-Planet Present-Absent criteria was performed on these children. On doing this, the genders of 14 of the children were decided based on the Each House-Filling-criteria. Proportion Tests Calculation:
Male child ratio proportion is affected by Present-Absent of Planet in its respective house; Table showing proportion test for male baby for respective House based on planets present and absent criteria. Undecided Data:
Hence we have no planets in seven data so; the genders of 40+38+14=92 out of 100 were decided. Thus, giving an accuracy of 3% improvement on the 89% of accuracy obtained manually.

Objectives
To To know the accuracy ratio of gender prediction in Vedic Astrology. Hypothesis:
The collected data of 100 Children’s with 58 Male and 42 Female children born with parents details was put for statistical tests. The analysis methods used in the process shows that, the pattern of prediction was true for 25 male and 15 female babies as per True positive (Male baby predicted as Male) and True negative (Female baby predicted as Female) based on parents Lagna. Further the data was analyzed based on present absent criteria on respective houses, which resulted in 29 male as per True positive and 9 female as per True negative. Then the left out data was tested

based on each house filling criteria, which resulted in 14 female babies as per true negative. The undecided data was 4 in male gender under True positive and 3 in female gender as per True negative, which resulted in no planets in respective houses. Remaining 1 data was predicted as Male which is under False Negative (Female baby predicted as Male baby). The overall success ratio was recorded as 92% in which 54% was Male babies and 38% was Female babies. The results from the proportion tests based on present absent criteria of planet in respective houses showed that, first child from eleventh house (Fifth House opposite) of father horoscope and second child from seventh house in both father and mother horoscope was significant for gender prediction of baby with P Value= 0.002, 0.003 and 0.003 respectively. • The group data is taken from twentyone overlapping pairs which cover 50 pairs based on Lagna of parents (12 X 12 = 144 combination in total). And 40 of the children’s genders were predicted. Remaining 60 children left undecided by parents Lagna. These children cover the
remaining 21 Lagna pairs, which we refer to as overlapping pairs. • Gender of 38/60 children’s were decided using chi-square analysis method on the number of planets present and absent in respective house. • A Proportion Test reveals the significance of difference in proportion of genders with respect to presence and absence of planets in their respective houses. • Remaining 22/60 children’s left the proportion test based on the proportion of male children in the House-Planet Present-Absent criteria was performed. On doing this, 14/22 children’s gender was decided based on the Each HouseFilling criteria. • Left out 7/22 children were not decided because absence of planets in respective houses. • Remaining 1/8 child was predicted as male for female child based on the predictions given by authors. • The gender of baby is not possible to predict based on the Lagna alone. We should include other houses like Fifth, Seventh, Ninth and Eleventh house from Lagna for the First, Second, Third and Fourth child born from the parent’s Vedic horoscope.

RESEARCH JOURNAL
RESEARCH • The data has 8% of negative results due to absence of planets in parents’ horoscope and may be another reason is possible like; Error in data collection, Wrong information given by the respondent and Error in predicting based on the number of rules framed by the authors in their books. • The data was collected from different states and cities in India and abroad, as there is a difference in distance with latitude and longitude in birth place of parents. • The success of prediction is based on combination of two methods of Brihat Jatak and KP System for prediction and calculation. • This research would be considered for predicting the child birth (irrespective of gender) for those parents, who are hopeful for having at least one child in their family for harmonious life.
• The overall percentage of success ratio in Vedic Astrology prediction is 92% where the objective of the research study is focused. • There is a possibility to predict the gender of baby based on Vedic Astrology Predictions. • We cannot predict the gender of twin’s baby based on the available data. • Practical application in INDIA is not possible due to Pre-Conception and PreNatal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to stop female foeticides and arrest the declining sex ratio in India. The act banned prenatal sex determination. (Changes in PCPNDT Act may allow astrologer for prediction). Limitation of the Study: • This study is limited for doing research in academics and not for any kind of practical application in India. r
