We should always be aiming high. Win or lose, though, let us give reason to be thought of as That School, the one that competes to win with the respectful players and fans. It’s going to be a great season! #FWCDFalconsForward

Welcome to a fall sports season of promise for excellence and joy: in our athletics program, as in our arts and academic experiences.

Our coaches make us proud as well. With high standards of excellence set by Leigh Block, Director of Athletics, we have educators running our practices and guiding our games to get the most out of our athletes. So, as you support the players, don’t forget to appreciate the dedication of their coaches.

If you’re reading this program, I’m guessing you are a Falcon fan. We appreciate your support, both the calm, clapping type and the wildly exuberant variety. Our players benefit so much from your presence and your enthusiasm. In that enthusiasm, I remind everyone of our desire to model the best possible sportsmanship. We respect our opponents, and we trust that our referees and umpires are doing their best.

Go EricFalcons,V.Lombardi Head of School

Our school’s commitment to sportsmanship evolves from our cherished core values and mirrors our commitment to performance. The SPC is also committed to sportsmanship and, last year, honored us with four team and three individual sportsmanship awards. FWCD was the only SPC school to earn four team awards. The recognition that we were exemplary competitors says a lot about our coaches and our players. And, of course, there are the fans: Our players benefit so much from their presence and enthusiasm. All of us can be very proud of these award-winning Falcons being recognized by our peers.

Thank you for supporting our teams, our athletes, our coaches, and our opponents. Here at Fort Worth Country Day, we have a wonderfully storied and proud athletic history. We are Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) Champions. Our stellar student-athletes have taken their experiences from FWCD to the collegiate level, with others whose careers did not go beyond high school but who benefited from our coaches’ teaching and from the powerful experience of being a member of a team. With their efforts and their attitudes, our student-athletes make us proud. It is a joy to watch them compete.

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!

Dear Falcon Fans,

Leigh Block Director of Athletics

from the Athletic Director Welcome

5

We are looking forward to a terrific year in Falcon athletics. We cannot predict how many games we’ll win or how we’ll fare in the SPC Tournament, which takes place in Houston in November. We don’t know if FWCD records will be broken this fall or what great Falcon performances we’ll see in the coming months. We can, however, predict with great assurance that our studentathletes will compete to the best of their abilities and will represent Fort Worth Country Day with tremendous pride and honor.

Our student-athletes and coaches have been hard at work all summer to prepare for this fall, and we know our players will compete to the best of their abilities and will put forth maximum effort over the course of the fall season.

6

Welcome from the Falcon Club Leadership

It is time for a new school year! This brings new opportunities for all our student-athletes to compete for Fort Worth Country Day. Our fall season includes boys and girls volleyball, cross country, football, cheer, and field hockey. We can’t wait to cheer these teams all on!

A large part of the success that drives our athletic teams is the support from our FWCD families. This support shows itself in many different ways, like driving to and from practice, packing extra snacks, acquiring additional equipment, and attending competitions.

This year, we have five leadership families to make sure Falcon Club is the best it can be. At any point, please contact us with any questions about membership or how to get more involved. We are ready to see our Falcons SOAR! BethanyFALCONSand

Dear Falcon Fans,

GO

Another important part of the athletic program’s success comes from the Falcon Club, FWCD’s athletic booster club. The Falcon Club supports all teams at the varsity, JV, and Middle School levels, as well as overall Lower School and Middle School PE. All Falcons, from junior kindergarten through 12th grade, have benefited from the financial and volunteer support of the Falcon Club. To see how the Falcon Club has directly benefited the Athletic Department, please visit fwcd.org/falcon-club-membership.
