Welcome to Falcon Country Welcome to a winter season of promise for excellence and joy: in our athletics program, as in our arts and academic experiences. Thank you for supporting our teams, our athletes, our coaches, and our opponents. Here at Fort Worth Country Day, we have a wonderfully storied and proud athletic history. We are Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) Champions. Our stellar student-athletes have taken their experiences from FWCD to the collegiate level, with others whose careers did not go beyond high school but who benefited from our coaches’ teaching and from the powerful experience of being a member of a team. With their efforts and their attitudes, our student-athletes make us proud. It is such a joy to watch them compete. Our coaches make us proud as well. With high standards of excellence set by Leigh Block, Director of Athletics, we have educators running our practices and guiding our games to get the most out of our athletes. So, as you support the players, don’t forget to appreciate the dedication of their coaches. If you’re reading this program, I’m guessing you are a Falcon fan. We appreciate your support, both the calm, clapping type and the wildly exuberant variety. Our players benefit so much from your presence and your enthusiasm. It’s been exciting to see our student bleachers, a gift from the Class of 2019, awash in red and blue as our students cheer on their friends. In that enthusiasm, I remind everyone of our desire to model the best possible sportsmanship. We respect our opponents, and we trust that our referees are doing their best. Our school’s commitment to sportsmanship evolves from our cherished core values and mirrors our commitment to performance. We should always be aiming high. Welcome Dear Falcon Fans, Welcome to winter athletics! We enjoyed a successful fall season — highlights include football winning the Senior Night, Homecoming, and the Battle of Bryant Irvin games; boys volleyball beating eventual SPC Champion St. Mark’s School of Texas at the end of the season and then avenging an earlier loss to The Awty International School in the SPC Tournament; field hockey going 2-1 in the SPC Tournament, finishing fifth, and only giving up a single goal the whole weekend; cross country finishing numerous meets with top 10 finishes and 20 personal records set throughout the season. Now we turn our attention to basketball, soccer, swimming and wrestling. As you watch our Falcons compete this season, please remember that all of us, together, are part of a support team. Coaches, administrators, officials, parents of Falcon athletes and our opponents’ athletes, all fans in attendance — our role is to support the student-athletes competing, both on and off the field, to ensure all students have a rewarding experience in scholastic athletics. Fort Worth Country Day’s boys and girls volleyball, cross country, and field hockey teams proudly represented the School in the Southwest Preparatory Conference Tournament.
