First Annual HVAC Dealer Meeting at Foxwoods On February 27, 2014, almost 300 F.W. Webb customers in the HVAC, Refrigeration and Controls industries attended our first annual HVAC Dealer Meeting at Foxwoods MGM Hotel and Casino in Ledyard, CT. The meeting was a great success and all those who attended were delighted with the information they received on the newest products and marketing programs, as well as updates on industry related changes in their markets.

The day started with lunch, followed by breakout presentations, a table top exhibit, and dinner, with a closing presentation from our keynote speaker, Talbot Gee, Vice President and COO of HARDI (Heating, Air conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International). Many attendees stayed overnight, which allowed for time to enjoy the diverse entertainments provided by Foxwoods. The event was touted as “one of the best dealer meetings ever” and we expect our second annual HVAC/R & Controls meeting in 2015 will be even better.

F.W. Webb Company’s new Ballston Spa, New York location opened its doors on Monday, January 20th. The 40,000 sq. ft. facility provides industrial, commercial and trade customers in Saratoga County with a wide selection of products and equipment as well as problem-solving and expertise. The facility also features free delivery, regular stock replenishment from our Central Distribution Center and a 36-person training room.

F.W. Webb has been privileged to be a premier supplier to the Global Foundries facility in nearby Malta, NY. The Webb team has leveraged technical expertise and resources to service the expansion of the Global Foundries complex, which in turn has spurred significant growth in the area. Frank Webb’s Bath Center will open in the location later this year to serve as a resource for homeowners, designers and tradespeople.

Inza Receives Sixth Annual Kartanos Award

Jay Potter, F.W. Webb’s General Manager in Binghamton, NY has taken the reins of our Lebanon, NH branch from veteran Mel Hale who retired at the end of January after 30 years of service. Meet Binghamton’s new management team:

Lou Francavillo is now General Manager. Lou owned and operated a company that designed and built high-end residences in the Binghamton area for over 14 years. Made in America An F.W. Webb team spent two years researching and quoting products for the Wabanaki, built

by Blount Boats of Warren, RI for Casco Bay Lines in Portland, Maine to replace the Island Romance which was introduced in 1972. The customer specified all “Made in America” products and F.W. Webb supplied all the pipe, valves & fittings used on the boat as well as other products. In an interesting departure from our usual applications, Webb also supplied piping for the rails and the smokestack (see photo).

Webb is currently supplying products for a series of 25 high speed vessels that Blount Boats is building for a customer in the Netherlands.

The prestigious 2013 Lothar Kartanos Memorial Award for outstanding sales performance was presented in February to Sharon Inza of the Methuen Branch.

F.W. Webb presents this award each year to the industrial sales person who has best exemplified the excellence of Lothar Kartanos’ legacy throughout the year.

Kartanos represented F.W. Webb for almost 25 years in the industrial marketplace, earning respect in an industry he loved. He spent a lifetime working with Webb sales people and customers at paper mills, power plants, chemical plants, colleges, hospitals and manufacturing sites. He loved walking the customer’s process, from the pumps and piping to the process control and automation. “Lothar truly made a difference,” noted Ernie Coutermarsh, Webb’s Senior Vice President for Industrial Sales.

Eccentric Disc pumps Mouvex® Eccentric Disc Pumps Provide 80-90% Product Recovery Rates In Food and Beverage Applications Mouvex offers a complete portfolio of Eccentric Disc Pumps for use in productrecovery operations in food-and-beverage manufacture and handling.

Product loss is often treated as nothing more than an acceptable “cost of doing business” in food-and-beverage manufacture. In reality, though, simply flushing away costly raw materials or disposing of saleable finished products that may remain in transfer lines at the end of production runs can annually take thousands of dollars off the manufacturer’s bottom line. Additionally, since food-and beverage manufacturing processes must be hygienic, all pumps used in production must be cleaned and sanitized after every use or product changeover; this can also lead to large amounts of lost product.

Realizing the amount of money that food-and-beverage manufacturers are losing everyday, Mouvex offers its SLS Series, C Series, S Series and Micro C Series Eccentric Disc Pump models for use in food-and-beverage manufacture. Mouvex’s unique eccentric disc principle of operation allows the pumps to operate efficiently with virtually no slip, even when pumping air. This

makes it possible for the pump to produce a partial vacuum effect on the suction side and a compressor effect on the discharge side, in the process creating a “plug” effect that pushes the remaining product out of the transfer line as a whole.

ZP3 Series Pumps Ampco Pumps Company ZP3 (patent pending) front loading seal design for ZP series pumps. This seal is designed to 3A standards and has passed the stringent EHEDG clean ability requirements.

In addition, Ted has taken charge of our new Food & Beverage Initiative.

He organized our first training session in February (see article this page) and will continue to make this a priority as we look to grow this new market space.

Ted has been a key member of our Webb Bio-Pharm team for the past 12 years and provides a great deal of expertise and experience on a daily basis. He is instrumental in providing solutions, troubleshooting and superior knowledge to our customer base.

F.W. Webb Launches Training in New Markets F.W. Webb Company has demonstrated a solid commitment to growth in the Food & Beverage, Personal Care, and Nutraceutical industries. On February 26 we launched a focused training effort with more than 20 Account Managers in attendance at our new Springfield, MA facility.

Industry Expert John Murphy from the Dolphin 8 Company led the training, introducing industry specific language, regulatory concerns and explaining how manufacturers can benefit from the services and capabilities of the F. W. Webb Company.

John also covered a detailed review of a typical dairy plant design, highlighting where we can “Improve the Process” to help us understand what the customer needs to keep their process systems running. Understanding the language nuances across a multifaceted industry is critical to our success. John’s presentation was a refreshing step forward, helping our team gain recognition of how to impact the customer's bottom line by ultimately reducing their net cost per unit sold.

Spirax Sarco’s Francis Maheno followed with a market specific presentation: “How to Maximize Efficiencies in the Steam System”. Ted Haley introduced our new line of Mixing and Blending equipment through Fusion Fluid. Webb offers mixing solutions for top, side and bottom mount mixers including fully automated turnkey systems.

Chris Sears, Ted Haley, and Christine McVey ended with an open discussion to pull the group together, using a Team Cross Selling Strategy and Support Structure to get us started. A market focus takes the cooperation of all our disciplines to ensure the customer has access across all of our Industrial Specialty Divisions.
