With this implication, the main business mechanisms have been determined between Turkey and Qatar, supply and demand have been analyzed and, based on “Business Development”, this exhibition has emerged as the “Trade Development Project” as it was mentioned before. This exhibition between Turkey and Qatar is not a simple exhibition of buying and selling goods. By considering the economic indicators of Qatar and the know-how skills of Turkey, researches have been conducted on which steps to take between the business worlds of the two countries, and business development plans are made accordingly, by us. To sum up, the main philosophy of “Expo Turkey by Qatar” is to create a “Sustainable Business Development” platform between two countries. The strategy we embrace to achieve all these goals; is to show great individual interest in the business development process of each and every participant

According to all these analyses, goals and strategies, it is expected approximately 200 companies from Turkey to join Expo Turkey by Qatar. Participating companies are the leading ones in their industrial sectors. There will be a major participation rate in the areas of real estate, furniture and construction. SHEIKH KHALIFA BIN JASSIM BIN MOHAMMED AL THANI, CHAIRMAN, QATAR CHAMBER

The target between Turkey and Qatar: Increasing the trade volume by 10% “Qatari investments in Turkey are growing rapidly at all sectors due to the facilitating procedures and the encouragement of both governments to Qatari and Turkish business people. Most of the Qatar investments are in the agricultural, tourism, real estate and banking sectors. For Qatari business people, Turkey represents an important destination for investment in the fields of energy, transportation, tourism, banking, real estate and others.”

T

urkey and Qatar have been developing relations regarding on politics, social and also economic areas in recent years. Bilateral trade volume between two countries rises rapidly. Turkey consumes energy and Qatar is an oil-producing country. Both have big markets, Qatar has capital strength and financial experience and also Turkey has powerful industries such as construction, agriculture and defense. Turkish contractors have been playing a key role in the 2020 World Cup process in Qatar. Large number of Turkish Companies operating in the defense industry, conduct meetings with Qatar, aiming at starting up joint projects. Before the Expo Turkey by Qatar fair, we have been informed by the Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani about the progress of the commercial and economic relations between two countries. Spoken regarding on this point, Al Thani said “Trade volume will increase by approximately 10% and new areas of cooperation will be realized”.

What do you think are the key industries to increase trade volume between Turkey and Qatar? It is obvious that Qatar-Turkey relations have been witnessing strong development at all levels of cooperation. Distinctive political relations have contributed to the promotion of their trading and economic integration.Their trade in 2016 reached to $700million, reflecting keenness of both countries to promote bilateral rela- tions and mutual coordination. Qatar mainly imports iron and steel products, electrical equipment, motor ve- hicles, home textile products, food and furniture from Turkey, while Turkey imports natural gas, plastic prod- ucts, aluminum, and chemical derivatives from Qatar. If we look at the Qatari investments in Turkey, they are growing rapidly at all sectors due to the facilitating procedures and the encouragement of both government to Qatari and Turkish business people. Most of the Qatar investments are in the agricultural, tourism, real estate and banking sectors. For Qatari business people, Turkey represents an important destination for investment in the fields of energy, transportation, tourism, banking, real estate and others.

In which industries would you expect the cooperation between both countries to develop in the near future? I am fully confident that in the coming years there will be an effective cooperation in industry, in the areas of food processing and agricultural products, besides other sectors that both countries have already established joint enterprises. As a chairman of Qatar Chamber, I am totally sure that there are lots of opportunities of investment for Qatari and Turkish companies in both markets. Could you please share your sights regarding the target of the trade relations between Turkey and Qatar in the short and middle run? In line with the close relation between our leaderships and people of both countries and within the framework of the facilitating procedures for investments, I believe that in the coming years there will be further developments in the trade relations. Trade volume will increase by approximately 10%, and the new areas of cooperation will be realized. Both countries are interested in fostering their economic relations to the level of politics. I believe new partnerships between both countries’ private sectors will be established.
