BRAND GUIDELINES
CORPORATE PHILOSOPHY CREA’s new Tempe office is designed to embrace the essence of the city and the lifestyle that draws talent to the area. The company strives to meet the needs of a diverse workforce that values community, productivity, and flexibility. Three personas were developed to embody different aspects of Tempe and the contemporary professional.
CORPORATE TYPOGRAPHY
THE BRAND CREA’s branding is an important piece of the company culture and success. The commercial real estate industry is competitive, and having a sophisticated and consistent brand sets CREA apart from its competitors. We put together a graphic design branding package that is further reflected in the design of the first and fifth level spaces within The Beam.

COLOR RATIONALE We chose a cool neutral color palette to balance the warm tones of the laminated timber structure. In addition to the neutral tones, we carefully selected an analogous color scheme of blue, green, and yellow to create a sense of order and harmony within the space. To create contrast and interest in the environment, we selected a dark navy blue as the dominate color to signal a sense of trust and sophistication in CREA, and chose lighter tones of green and yellow as accents.

qualitative research Cultivating Comfort: a study on Scandinavian Design & Wellness ASU Undergraduate Thesis | 2019-2020 Barrett, the Honors College
PROJECT SUMMARY
As an honors student, I was challenged with the opportunity to complete an Undergraduate Thesis or Creative Research Project. With my major in Interior Design and minor in Psychology, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to complete a more holistic study, and eventually decided on the concept of Scandinavian design & wellness. Throughout the rigorous chapter of learning that was college, I always found myself returning to IKEA for inspiration (even for commercial design projects). The simplicity and whimsy of all of it has always reminded me why I want to design: to positively impact people. This study explores the relationship between Scandinavian design practices of past and present, and newer concepts of wellness. METHODS USED
Qualitative Research Thematic Coding Adobe InDesign
ROW OF HOUSES - BERGEN, NORWAY
In addition to the written thesis paper, I designed a book to serve as a visual supplement to my research. In it, I include excerpts from my paper carefully placed alongside photographs and sketches from my time spent in Scandinavia. All photos were captured on film without any post-processing, and are used throughout the book in addition to my original sketches.

ASU Junior Design Studio | Spring 2019 Design Excellence Nominee Collaborative Project
PROJECT SUMMARY
This project focused on the issue of homelessness in the greater Phoenix area, and the importance of universal design specifically in the healthcare and residential sectors. The project was divided into two phases: the first being the transitional housing “pods,” and the second being the adaptive reuse resource and medical center. Each team member designed a “pod” as their interpretation of transitional housing, and then collaborated to design the resource and medical center. While these spaces required different programmatic elements, they both required a high level of empathy and consideration for the end user throughout the design process. PROGRAMS USED

The reception provides a sense of welcoming and refuge from the outdoors. Still, there is a strong connection to nature through the ample natural light and desert landscaping visible through the Southfacing glazing. An exterior skin of iron with patina and perforations emulating falling palo verde blossoms creates unique, ever-changing shadows inside. The exterior skin also allows for thermal comfort in the warmer parts of the day. The undulating wood wall and ceiling helps with acoustic control within this space.

MEDICAL AND RESOURCE CENTER LEVEL 1 FLOOR PLAN
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Concept: the Nursing Tree When saguaro cacti are planted, they are an incredibly vulnerable species. They are not equipped to survive in the sun and heat in the first years of their growth. For this reason, saguaros grow best under the protection of a nursing tree (often a Palo Verde or Mesquite) that provides shade, water, and general protection from the harsh climate. The nursing tree is able to selflessly provide for the saguaro until it is strong enough to thrive on its own within the landscape. From this concept, the Saguaro Medical & Resource Center strives to offer the same kind of protection and care to Phoenix’s homeless population. The facility offers medical services including general health, counseling, and dental, as well as resources such as showers, laundry, grooming, fresh food, and recreational skills training. Within the site there are also individual and family sized transitional housing pods. The facility serves as a place of refuge for those without a home, and becomes a positive focal point within the community that brings people together to help one another.

building blocks: journey to success
ASU Senior Design Studio | Spring 2020 Design Excellence Winner Collaborative Project
PROJECT SUMMARY
For our senior capstone project, we were given the opportunity to construct a physical 8’ x 8’ x 8’ installation to represent the concept of ‘embracing community’. Our team visited Lowell Elementary School in Mesa, AZ to interact with the 6th grade class. In the several weeks of activities with the students, we began to learn about the unique characteristics that each individual contributed to their class’ community. Our interactions encouraged further connection between students and team members, and helped to guide our conceptual development throughout the course of the project. In getting to know our client and end user, our team developed and strengthened our value of empathy and considerations of universal design. PROGRAMS USED

COLLAGE RENDERING
This collage is a representation of the structure on the site of the Mesa Prototyping Festival. It begins to visualize the types of interaction that would take place in and around our installation. Our team considered the various end users at both the Mesa Prototyping Festival and the WELL Conference in order to promote community engagement in both settings.

BRAND GUIDELINES
CONCEPT PHILOSOPHY The space we have constructed is intended to offer activity, engagement, and discussion for people of all backgrounds. It is a space to gather, share, and connect, the same way a community does. We were inspired by the cultural complexities of the students and their connections to family, friends, and traditions. It is these individual characteristics that contribute to such integrative and unique collections of people, and the commonalities of space and time allow us to form communities with those around us.

FINAL DESIGN
Zak Eyes
The final design is a 30”x 48” vinyl window decal highlighting Zak’s many offerings as well as other boutique brands they sell within their retail space. The playful, unisex, illustrated faces each wear a different style of Zak’s six frame shapes, and incorporate the vibrant and welcoming colors within the company’s brand. Social assets were created within the same vein as the design for the window, and will be used to promote the NYC store and all that Zak has to offer.

SOCIAL MEDIA ASSETS
The social media assets were designed to parallel the look and feel of the window graphic, making use of brand colors and winding text. The client wanted to include “see eye to eye to eye” as a part of their marketing messaging, which was integrated into one of the three posts.

Lululemon’s ‘Future of Innovation’ research department is continuing to push the boundaries of the company’s role within the wellness community. The client was looking for ways to gather information and ideas from professionals across a variety of fields, and asked for assistance in hosting a series of workshops to bring people and ideas together. In collaboration with Sonja Bochart (Sonja Bochart Wellbeing + Design) and Tim McGee (LikoLab / Lululemon), we developed a workshop series intended to circulate new ideas about the future of wellbeing as it pertains to the built environment and community connection.

collaborations OVERVIEW
Some of the most rewarding work I have completed has been for other local, small businesses here in Phoenix. From smallscale label illustrations to custom notecards and seasonal social media assets, I love being able to capture the essence of our community through unique, custom pieces. STANDARD WA X
In partnership with local, woman-owned candle company, Standard Wax, I designed multiple labels for seasonal launches as well as the company’s ‘artist-designed’ collection. CANOPY BY HILTON
Inspired by the vibrance of the hotel and the iconic structures of Tempe, I designed an illustrated notecard for staff to use when writing welcome messages to guests, and two custom greeting cards to be sold in the hotel’s retail space. SIDEWALK SATURDAY AT THE CHURCHILL
Illustrations for Downtown Phoenix’s ‘Sidewalk Saturday’ winter market. The weekly market brings local creatives and vendors together in the heart of the Roosevelt Arts District, encouraging the community to shop local and support small businesses. The designs for the winter market represent the growth that follows Arizona’s chilly winters, as well as the growth that comes with the start of the new year.
