BRANDING CREA’s branding is an important piece of the company culture and success. The commercial real estate industry is competitive, and having a sophisticated and consistent brand sets CREA apart from its competitors. We put together a graphic design branding package that is further reflected in the design of the first and fifth level spaces within The Beam. COLOR RATIONALE We chose a cool neutral color palette to balance the warm tones of the laminated timber structure. In addition to the neutral tones, we carefully selected an analogous color scheme of blue, green, and yellow to create a sense of order and harmony within the space. To create contrast and interest in the environment, we selected a dark navy blue as the dominate color to signal a sense of trust and sophistication in CREA, and chose lighter tones of green and yellow as accents.

THE DESIGN | RECEPTION GOALS The reception in CREA’s first floor space in The Beam is a client’s, or potential client’s, first impression of the company. For this reason, this space needs to incorporate company branding in both visuals and aesthetics while maintaining practicality and sophistication. This first level space should serve as a storefront, showing off some of the unique technological capabilities of CREA. DESIGN NARRATIVE The layout of the reception provides ample circulation space for clients and employees alike while offering casual lounge seating as well as interactive technology. Upon entering the space, a client may be greeted by a receptionist or Facility Manager who would then direct them to the appropriate meeting room or the fifth floor office. There is a luggage and storage room adjacent to the reception lounge for clients and professionals who may be visiting from out of town. While waiting, the client may enjoy a cup of coffee in the work cafe or lounge, or they may choose to engage with the mobile digital kiosks adjacent to the receptionist’s desk. These kiosks make use of CREA’s map technology and allow the user to interact with local maps, buildings, local trivia, and recommendations in the surrounding areas. In addition to these features, plants are placed throughout the entire first floor for increased wellness through air purification as well as biophilia.

THE DESIGN | OPEN LOUNGE GOALS The level 1 open lounge space is multi-functional, allowing for flexibility of furniture as well as program. The lounge is intended to offer a space to work, socialize, and engage with CREA’s culture. This lounge space must have an elevated aesthetic compared to the office lounge on the fifth floor, as the first floor is more client-facing and open to the public. DESIGN NARRATIVE After checking in with the receptionist, a client may proceed to the open lounge where they may choose to work, making use of the mobile power and laptop tables, or they may enjoy a cup of coffee while waiting for a meeting. Two small meeting rooms are equipped with smart technology for room reservations, and the glass wall emphasizes the company’s value of transparency while maintaining the visual brand through a map graphic. A touchdown between the meeting rooms offers a pre or post meeting collaboration space, with digital, touch screen technology embedded into the wall. When not in use, this screen along with others throughout the space will cycle through branding and marketing images that illustrate CREA’s philosophy, culture, and successes. A decorative felt ceiling system provides acoustical benefits along with visibility of the timber structure above. Plants serve as space dividers and natural light illuminates the space, both to encourage wellness.

THE DESIGN | TECH PLAY GOALS CREA recently brought a technology company into their business in order to expand their capabilities. The technology component sets CREA apart from its competitors, and it was important to illustrate this in the design of the Tech Play space. This area can be used to experiment with property visioning VR, as well as presentations and technology demonstrations. DESIGN NARRATIVE The Tech Play is located on the Southwest corner of the first level of The Beam, which will likely get a lot of foot traffic due to the surrounding apartments, restaurants, and offices. The storefront allows people outside to see in just enough to spark curiosity, encouraging the public to come and learn about CREA’s capabilities while engaging in their unique technological platform. Modular and mobile blocks allow for flexibility and playfulness within the space, while Counter seating with integrated power allow for collaboration and conversation. Two touch-screen walls offer full computer capabilities as well as company branding.

THE DESIGN | ACOUSTICS Acoustic Strategy Our team recognizes that thoughtful Acoustic Strategy is imperative to the productivity of a successful work environment.

Wall built to ceiling deck Acoustic Ceiling

To ensure confidentiality for the employees and clients, all walls in private offices and conference rooms are built to deck. Additionally ceilings in offices and conference rooms are specified as acoustical ceiling tile. These spaces along with the open office also have carpet flooring to increase acoustical benefits. In order to celebrate the wood beams that drew the client to The Beam while maintaining acoustical integrity, we specified natural colored Tectum to lie between the beams. This ensures quiet in the open office, without interfering with the beauty of the exposed ceiling. Throughout the project we incorporated fabric or leather wrapped panels, ceilings from Arktura, and felt dividers to elevate both the design and acoustics.

INT 464 / KLEIN + WILSON

37

THE DESIGN | ALL HANDS GOALS The level 5 CREA office is designed to house all 200 office employees give or take guests. The company values communication and often holds ‘All Hands’ meetings and events that include every employee. The design of the All Hands space needs to be flexible and able to accommodate each employee while allowing for use outside of meetings. DESIGN NARRATIVE The All Hands space is located adjacent to the digital reception and hospitality bar, making it an ideal gathering spot for large company events as well as small get meetings. Modular block seating allows for flexibility, and lounge seating gives an elevated, comfortable place to wait for a meeting. The unique feature of the All Hands space is the VR component, allowing clients to visualize potential property sites and surroundings through CREA’s unique technology platform.

THE DESIGN | HOSPITALITY BAR GOALS For clients and employees alike, the Hospitality Bar provides an elevated experience for food and beverage. This space is not as industrial as the office cafe / break area due to the client interaction. It is located adjacent to the Executive Conference Room and All Hands space, making it a great place for catering setup. DESIGN NARRATIVE The Hospitality Bar is a client or guest’s ‘cafe’ space within the large office. A high-quality espresso machine and under-counter fridge house refreshments, while custom shelving displays greenery and unique pieces. The aesthetic of this bar represents the company’s dedication to its clients through comfort and amenity.
