Welcome to your job at Keahotels! INTRODUCTION

Our success at Keahotels lies first and foremost in making our guests feel good and creating a positive environment at our workplace Following will be a short introduction of the company where you are about to work, along with important information that will hopefully help you adjust to a new working environment

The company's headquarters are at Skipagötu 18, 600 Akureyri. The company's sales office is at Laugavegi 26, 101 Reykjavík

MANAGEMENT &REGULATIONS

Managers can´t run the companies alone, and neither can the individual staff member But if everyone cooperates and respects each other's work, then there is a foundation for success in our field

The foundation of successful performance is that the employee has the knowledge and skill to take independent decisions in the field Following is an organizational chart for the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive Committee of Keahotels so staff members can better realize who are responsible for the management of the company and their fields of responsibility.

HIRING,WAGES,WORK HOURS,SHIFTS& MORE.

HIRINGANDWORKHOURS

Managers handle hiring of staff members. When hired, the staff member receives information about their work hours Work hours vary greatly between departments.

SHIFTS

Shift plans are posted before the end of each month Employees are hired for a specific department, but should managers need to make changes, then they have full authority to do so. They are however required to notify the staff member of changes as soon as possible

Even if employees are hired by departments, it must be clear that the workplace is one large operation team and everyone needs to pitch in and help between departments, as is needed and possible.

Employees can bring up any questions regarding salaries and benefits to their supervisor or to the main office

TIMEPUNCHCLOCK

Registration of work hours is done via a time punch clock Employees should punch in once they have changed into work attire and are ready to begin working Employees should punch out when they have completed their workday prior to changing back into their clothes If employees need to run personal errands during workhours, they should punch out while absent from work If an employee arrives at the workplace prior to the start of their shift, they should not punch in unless their supervisor has asked them to start working earlier than the work schedule states

TIMETRACKING

Due to difference between divisions at the company, the employee will need to put in a work code for the relevant field they will be working in This is done so the salary amount for the relevant field is accurately put in into the company accounting. An employee that changes work fields more than once a day, must ensure that they are punched in to the right field of work.

LAUNO.FL. SALARIES& MORE

The company is a member of SA Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise and employees receive salaries are according to collective bargaining agreements that the confederation makes with their unions. Keahotels carefully consider equality with regards to salaries and other work related compensation and follow the company's equality and equal pay policies in every aspect The company's Equal Pay Policy can be found on the Keahotel's website

Notice of resignation for permanent employees is mutual and it is governed by the valid collective bargaining agreement of the relevant profession unless there is another valid agreement in place. Payment of salaries are paid no later than the first day of each month and the salaries are paid into the bank account of the relevant employee. Pay slips are sent electronically to the employee's online bank account The salary period for Keahotels is from the 26th to the 25th of each month

VACTIONTIME

According to general collective bargaining agreements, employees earn the right to summer vacation Managers and supervisors organize when employees take leave days in consultation with the employees. Every effort is made to meet wishes of employees but, since the leave is distributed in the time frame of May-September, it is not necessarily possible to meet all wishes. Leave requests are dependent on the supervisor's approval

Supervisor may place an employee on leave with a months notice during a period which was not the employees requested time frame Employees which are entitled to leave days and do not get their vacation payment into the bank account, can monitor the status of leave days in Bakvordur, the time management system

ILLNESSANDABSENCE

In case of illness or other absence reasons, the supervisor must be notified as soon as possible via phone call and no later than at the start of the work day. Generally, a doctor's note is required in case of illness, which is only valid if the illness has been confirmed via a physical examination. The company will reimburse costs for doctor's notes when they are required and they shall be presented to the supervisor

NON-DISCLOSURE

Company employees handle business and personal information that affects the interests of costumers, colleagues, and the company. It is important that this information is never discussed outside of the company, but is treated as completely confidential Violations can cause immediate dismissal

MEALANDCOFFEEBREAKS

Meal and coffee breaks are as stipulated in collective bargaining agreements and should be taken at pre-detemined times or when possible due to work pressure Employees shall not leave the workplace without the permission of their supervisor.

UNITY

Keahotels encourage staff to practice open, clear, and constructive communication, where mutual respect is honored Keahotels emphasize that all staff members contribute to good moral, make an effort to strengthen team work, and support each other. Gossip and derogatory talk about staff or guests will not be tolerated

BULLYING,HARASSMENT,&VIOLENCE

Keahotels care about the wellbeing of employees. Bullying, violence, and sexual harassment will not be tolerated within the company. Should an employee display behavior that falls within those categories, then that can lead to immediate dismissal If disputes concerning bullying, harassment, or violence should arise, then matters will be handled according to company policy.

Smoking on the company grounds, facilities, or in marked company uniforms is strictly forbidden

CLOTHING&CLEANLINESS

Employees should always be dressed in a clean, tidy way and follow the Keahotel regulations on staff clothing and uniforms Staff clothing can vary by departments and employees must always ensure to be appropriately dressed Uniforms are the property of the company and should only be used for work at the company.

FOODCONSUMPTIONANDUSEOFPRIVATETELEPHONES

It is strictly forbidden to consume food at work stations, food consumption should only take place at the staff break room It is strictly forbidden to use private phones at work stations, please withdraw to a private location to use your phones. Also, it is strictly forbidden to drink and chew gum in general spaces at the hotels, staff will also need to withdraw for those purposes

KEYS

Those employees that carry keys to the hotel and storages, cannot use those outside their work hours without their supervisor's approval

DISCOUNTS

Discount of accommodation for employees: Discounts are only valid for the employee, their spouse, and children. It is completely unauthorized for staff to handle their own reservations Further information on benefits can be accessed on Workplace

The Employee Association of Keahotels (SKE) advocates for various matters of interest for employees, such as discounts, and organizes a variety of events and entertainment Employees pay a fixed fee into the association´s fund that is not proportionate to job percentages The fee is deducted from an employee´s salary. If a member of staff is not interested in paying to the employee assocition, they should notify their supervisor

Our guests are buying an experience at our hotels, they should always be greeted with a smile and assisted patiently The guest in front of you should always be a priority and emails and phone calls should be secondary.

t is completely irrelevant to our guests how your personal life is going We do not discuss our problems, political views, nor religious beliefs with our guests.

Your colleagues in all departments of the hotel have their department head / supervisor It is not your job to reprimand other employees but if problems arise, that should be reported to the relevant department head / supervisor

How successful you are in your work depends on you Make an effort to ask, find solutions and familiarizing yourself with all the teaching material we offer If you feel insecure in your job, let your supervisor know as soon as possible, so your training and knowledge can be increased without incidents.

Service jobs require that we always put our best foot forward, therefore we leave personal matters at home and always come to work with a positive attitude and a smiling face
