GABRIEL BERNING ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO
GABRIEL BERNING “I watch their images flicker Bringing light to a lifeless screen
I walk through their beautiful buildings And I wish I had their dreams But dreams don’t need to have motion To keep their spark alive Obsession has to have action Pride turns on the drive.”
-Rush. “Mission.” Lyrics by Neil Peart. Hold Your Fire. Mercury, 1987

A building that houses various programs, the Athenaeum was a project designed for an open site in the Over-The-Rhine area of Cincinnati. The project's programs include administration, galleries, lobby, library, lecture hall, trustee's room, and a newspaper room. I experimented a lot with modularity and digital rendering in this project that I completed during my third academic semester at UC.

This page contains an instance of my photoshop experience in the workplace. I was asked to edit the photo of an entrance to show Ipe decking as opposed to the existing brick. The right page contains one of the site studies I completed for a proposed residence. This study contains an unrendered massing and containment model made in SketchUp to accompany the researched residential building code and site plan.
