Stages 9-10-11-12 Total length from SanthiĂ to Garlasco: 83,5 km. Total walking time: 22 hours. Walking days: 5. The route crosses Lombardy and Piedmont and is almost totally flat though it is interrupted by some hilly elevations. On the way you can linger in some nice villages. This route is crossed by 7 rivers, both piedmontese and lombard. Points of interest: - Vercelli: S. Andrea cathedral and Cavour square. - River Sesia. - Robbio: S. Valeriano abbey, S. Pietro church. - Mortara: S. Albino abbey, S. Lorenzo collegiate.

Landscape: the path is completely flat; it passes near river Ticino and crosses river Po at the ford of Sigerico. Landscape: the territory is mostly flat until it reaches Piacenza and then continues towards its destination which is in the mountains. Stages 21-22-23-24 The total length from Cassio to Avenza is 103,4 km, for a total of 26 hours of walking in 4 days. The route is mainly hilly. The stages 21-22-23-24 pass through the Cisa pass, Pontremoli and Aulla. In stage 21 you can meet Berceto. In the 22nd stage you can see the castle of the Piagnaro in Pontremoli. In stage 24 you can see Sarzana and Luni.

Stages 25-26-27-28-29 Total length: 126,8 kilometers. Total walking time: 30 hours. Walking days: 5. Landscape: there are open views of the sea, the valley and the course of river Arno as well as mountainous stretches. The highest mountain is Monte Magno. Points of interest : 1 - Massa: Malaspina fortress; 2 - Pietrasanta- st Martin cathedral; 3 - Lucca: amphitheatre square; 4 - Altopascio; 5 - Galleno: ancient paved road;

6 - S. Miniato Alto: church of St Francesco; 7 - Coiano: romanesque parish church; 8 - Chianni: church of Maria Assunta; 9 - Gambassi terme: panoramic view on the hills.

This route shows us the beautiful landscapes of the Tuscan hills. The main points of interest are: - stage 30 - San Gimignano: medieval towers. - stages 31- Monteriggioni: Snail’s Castle. - stages 32 - Siena : Roman Door, Campo square; - stage 34: S Quirico d’Orcia.

Stages 35 -36-37-38-39 Total length from San Quirico d’Orcia to Viterbo: 132,5 km. Total walking time: 28 hours. Walking days: 5. The path starts in high hills and it reaches Radicofani which is the highest point of the entire route. From Radicofani the territory degrades to lower hills. Around Acquapendente the landscape is flatter. Main points of interest: - San Quirico d’Orcia: free thermal bath and chapel of the Madonna of Vitaleta. - Radicofani: fortress of Radicofani and church of St. Peter. - Bolsena: St. Cristina cathedral, lake of Bolsena. - Viterbo: Mount Cimino.

Landscape: In this part of the Via Francigena you can see hills, paved roads and a waterfall. From Monte Mario you can see a panoramic view of Rome. Main points of interest: - Forcassi: ruins of the church of St Mary; - Vetralla: ruins of the towers of Orlando; - Sutri: ruins of the roman theatre; Towers of Orlando - Montegelato: waterfall; - Rome: St. Peter square
