The creative process aimed to create and define architecture from the place and the social function in that space. The stage for the library is “Dunbars Close”, quiet and hidden site, behind a sequence of gardens that reflect of what is the journey through Edinburgh - a sequence of contrasting scenarios.

An architecture that responds to these unique features, reassuring the existing atmosphere, adapting it to fit each user need for: summer, winter, festival season or holiday - with all your its characters: tourists, writers, and local people.
