Thesis Project. Perals of Celestial Symphonies.

Pearls of celestial symphonies Location - Dwarka Sector 20 ,New Delhi , Delhi , India -201001. Site Area - 24 acre. Building Type - Sikh cultural centre.

Ragas Ratan are the wordings and speeches which Guru Nanak spread throughout the world , the project aims to brings the values of those ragas into a one combined form and extract the values of the paths covered and try to comprehend into architectural spaces , so that visitors not only sees the ragas but and understand the space and the value through emotions and beliefs . The value of remembrance is shown depicted with the help water memorial , which flashes the names of the martyrs , onto the water( kinetic ) which depicts the martyrs as never dying and always staying in this world . The open space also converts to public gathering space where all communal and non - communal people could join together as a matter of remembrance or for various shows which are organised by the commitee. The concept of binding among the buildspaces and open spaces creates a sense of untiy among the people and with the architecture through Parametricism.

URBAN REDEVELOPMENT Alpha One Commercial Market

Location - Alpha commercial complex, Greater noida ,Uttar Pradesh -India Year

- 2019

With the view of redeveloping alpha 1 commercial complex to a justified market which responds to all age group ,design is based on non- congestion vehicular movement and adding life to the dead soul. Detailed analysis of pedestrian movement throughout the day leaded us to designing public responsive space.

FOOD TRUCK MILE The idea was to incorporate landscape ,eating zone and parking into a single common space which seamessly moves thoughout the site. The design not only bring up the alpha commercial market value but also hepls in line of business. Food truck mile will greatly benefit from residential zone sourrounding alphamarket hence certainly increeasing social and increase walk of life,.

TENSILE STRUCTURE According to our survey result the area is found the be under maximum footfall , but unfortunately no shading is provided therefore tensile structure which span open space could be used to perform the functions or cultural activites which otherwise would not have been possible because of direct sun rays.

Movable shed A space created which houses three fuction under 1 roof - market, parking at basement and live theatre for visual arts and pop culture. The design was possible due to boggie and truss system which helped the structure to move and create a sourrounded space under which performance art could take place at regular interval. The fascade plays an important role creates a dilima of light and shadow outside the building which not only beutifies the build environment but also attracts curosity.

MATERIAL SYSTEM Kirigami

Kirigami - Material Exploration - 2019

Kirigami is the process of cutting and folding to produce a two dimensional planar into a three dimensional double curved surface without using any adhesive.

2X2 grid kirigami

using hygroscopicity

Length of the slit is directly propertional to the height it achieves. Distance between consecutive slit directly proportional to height achieved.

vertical ascend or decend in slit through vertical force

grains

height of slit achieved(in mm)

length of slit(in mm)

fundamental slits are achieving doubly curved surface

Hygroscopic character is the tendency to adsorb or absorb water molecules onto the surface. In the molecular level water molecules gets inbetween the grains of the wood due to this molecular difference Wood tends to bend to much greater extent which otherwise would not bend. The Hygroscopicity of wood is used in the system of kirigami where pilability is used as a mean to produce doubly curved surface wherein after drying it retains its shape.

Thickness of the material.=2mm Duration in water.

Sheet size Vertical distance between slits. Length of slits.

Stability of the module is inversely proportional slit curvature length. As radius increases height of curve is increased.

Surface dimension-840x297mm

Experiment based on finding the curvature obtained by using equal forces on the slits by distorting the A4 sheet to 840X297mm. Surface dimension-840x420mm

Forces were applied equally but in opposite direction on different halfs of the sheet to obtain a symmetric doubly curved surface. Module - Imagined on 1:1 scale requires individual members to be fabricated individually then joined by riveting and bolting to obtain the final shape. Module joinery= bolting(model scale) ;riveting(1:1) Module size=297x100mm

Constant

Variable

Inferances

Thickness of the material. Duration in water.

Sheet size Length of slits.

Radial slit resulted in more stable and symmetric geometry. More radial distance from distance resulted in increase in hright.

Surface dimension-420x420mm

Different slits were defined in circular geometry ,based on overlaping conseqitive slit-force along z axis applied on all sli Overlaping of slits=1/6 Surface dimension-840x420mm

Two Circular kirigami joined to form a single module , downward exertion is used inbetween the geometries.

Module - Radial slits Module size=50mm inner radius;100mm outer radius Module joinery= bolting(model scale) ;riveting(1:1) , wire- steel cabling

EXPERIMENTS Constant

Inferances

Thickness of the material.=2mm Duration in water.

Sheet size Vertical distance between slits. Length of slits. Angles in the slit at nodes.

Moving from curve to angular slits, the individual slit resulted in straight line inbetween nodes and doubly curved surface was achieved through profile of the prototype.

Surface dimension-297x840mm Slit angle=130°

Different anlges is used to define the curvature of the prototype . The larger the angle resulted in less deformation but stable geometry .

Surface dimension-297x420mm Slit angle=90°

Moving towards self standing geometry the angle which founded is 90° which created substantial span to height ratio.

Surface dimension-297x840mm Slit angle=60°

Constant

Variable

Inferances

Thickness of the material. Duration in water.

Sheet size Length of slits.

When edge distance is reduced to zero the curve obtained of the profile is directly proportional to the slit length.

Surface dimension-297x840mm

Helical loop was obtained which curved to π/2 every 11 slits. Distance inbeteen slit=40mm Surface dimension-297x840mm

Experiment based on changing the outerprofile to concave edge resulted in increment of the doubly curved surface whcih resulted in self assist structure. Surface dimension-840x420mm

Analogous to the idea ,in Parametricism FOLDISM covers the entire building into one componet and creates a homogenous buildspace in which elemental architecture resonate together. Humans are the part of nature which are developing to work under seamless concrete jungle. The idea was to create an efficacious environment where human once again subconsciously communicate between the build environement.

Floating Terraces Location - Hyderabad. Type -Residential. Year - 2020.

The organization of the villa and movement through spaces are designed to create varied levels of privacy and create differentiated relationship to the landscape. At the heart of the villa is a double height living space that spills over into the kitchen, library, formal drawing and outdoor landscape. Bedrooms are flanked along this central living space, designed as intimate spaces, with each bedroom having its own outdoor courtyard.

Accessed through an intimate courtyard, the villa opens up into a grand double height family living. From the entrance itself and from the family living, the view opens up into 4 different green courtyards where the plantation flows inside and give you a feeling of being connected with nature. This spatially spills over the indoor living spaces into outdoor semi covered spaces and further into open green.
