The neighborhoods surrounding the West Volusia Historical Society complex are rich in history and filled with architectural gems, and DeLand is the ideal venue for a walking tour - wellpreserved historically and compact. Explore landmarks on Woodland Boulevard and the beautiful avenues of Minnesota, Clara, Rich, Michigan, Indiana and New York, and hear stories about the intriguing people who lived and worked there in walking tours led by experienced WVHS docents.

The Museum of Art DeLand is a source of cultural focus and is recognized statewide by its peers for academic excellence and community outreach. It is host to several rotating exhibits, gallery talks, receptions, educational programming, master artist workshops, and special events throughout the year. January 14th to March 27th - John Mellencamp: Paintings and Assemblages Grammy award winner and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, John Mellencamp showcases a selection of paintings and assemblages for a return art exhibition at the Museum of Art – DeLand. An accomplished painter, collector, and activist, Mellencamp exposes unsettling but beautiful truths with an attitude of defiance and narrative sensibility that echoes the earnest voice of the American heartland. In addition to more recent paintings, this exhibition includes a selection of assemblages as well, adding yet another dimension to a unique body of work.

There always numerous events going on each month in Downtown DeLand. March 26th – Florida Wildflower & Garden Festival, 9 am – 3 pm Dust off those gardening gloves, it’s time for the 16th annual Florida Wildflower & Garden Festival in downtown DeLand. The festival, presented by the MainStreet DeLand Association, will take over West Indiana Avenue with an array of vendors and presentations by wildflower and gardening experts in an outdoor setting. March 26th & 27th – DeLand Outdoor Art Festival, 9 am – 5 pm The festival offers a craft section with items for sale ranging from handmade jewelry, clothing, soaps, infused products, to carved wooden toys. Food ranging from Greek salads to popcorn, Wisconsin Cheese Curds, Bar-B-Q, Kettle Korn to Home Made Ice Cream and much more.
