In October we shut up shop and all headed to the Aviva stadium in Dublin for the annual Schwarzkopf Hairdressing Business Awards. It was so exciting and rewarding to be nominated for so many awards but we never expected to be taking home four. Needless to say a great day and night was had. Read more about the awards on page 22.
Our second salon opened its doors on August 6th with much trepidation and anticipation. We were warmly welcomed into the village. We received so many flowers and cards we could have put our neighbours, The Village Florist, out of business. Thankfully the salon has hit the ground running and has proven, so far, to be a great success. However like any business, we know we still have a lot of work ahead of us to make sure it stays that way. We were joined by friends, family and clients for the launch. A lovely evening that came with an abundance of emotions. You will find our design concept for the salon and pictures on page 10.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our clients and especially welcome all our new clients in Moycullen to the salon. We hope you are enjoying your visits with us and if there is anything else we can do to improve your experience with us, we’d like to know.
Mission Statement Yourell’s hair salon is founded on our mission to consistently give each and every client an extraordinary experience. We will meet their unique needs and expectations through dedication, education and creativity. In creating a secure and challenging environment we enable staff and clients alike to realize their full potential.

Yourells Autumn/ Winter Seasonal Collection
AUTUMN / WINTER 2013
It’s time again to put on our creative hats and bring the latest trends to you. Read on for all the latest looks in ‘Your Trends’ section. In October we showcased our seasonal collection which we present bi-annually in salon to keep us up to date on the upcoming trends for the season.
We compile a look book on the ipads for you to use with your stylist to create your look. In the 8 weeks following the collection launch we have our “make a change” season, when we suggest a change to every client whether it be a different blow dry or a dramatic restyle.
Irish Hairdressing Business Awards We were shortlisted out of over 150 salons nationwide in six categories of the Irish Hairdressing Business Awards. A great honour that we are very proud of. Categories: Training, Customer Care, Marketing, Connaught Salon of the Year, Front of House (James) and Connaught Trainee of the Year (Sarah). Read on for the results!

The red carpet was laid out, champagne flowed and our resident door man, in top hat and tail coat, was on hand with his life saving umbrella! This year we teamed up with Benefit make up at Debenhams. We were joined by their team of make-up artists making Yourells a one-stop-shop for all your Lady’s Day requirements. They also kindly brought two fabulous hampers with them which two lucky clients took home the following day.

Kate Moss Launches Kerastase Styling We were one of a handful of lucky Irish salons that got the invite to go to Mayfair, London for the official launch of the new Kerastase styling range. It was an intimate affair so we all got to meet Kate. Amazing. And yes, she is as stunning in real life. We have since received the products into the salon and love them. There is a product for everyone in the range. Ask your stylist for her suggestion for you. Check out the pictures on facebook‌.

Yourells is as much about experience as it is hair and this is the inspiration behind the design of our second salon. We have created a ‘hair spa’, a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We wanted to create a space that is all about you while balancing the scales between luxury, practicality and comfort.
10
The wash room has been what our clients have said they enjoyed most about their visit (obviously with the exception of their stunning new hair!). This is where the hair spa really comes into its own. The basins are hidden away in their own separate room.
We chose warm golden globe lighting, dimmed with no natural light. With your feet up and head back you can really enjoy and make the most of your head massage with the gentle sound of relaxation music in the back ground.

We all know how much we hate sitting in front of the mirror with a head full of foil giving us time to focus on every little flaw, so the concept for our colour corner came about. It allows you to sit back, put your feet up and relax while your colour develops. Away from the main work area and with the soft warm lighting you can really switch off. Choose to browse our little fashion shelf or just close your eyes and enjoy your time.
We have tried to cover every little detail when designing the salon, from the warm pendant lights in the relaxation areas down to the little shelf at the desk that you can place your handbag on. We designed this salon being mindful of making your Yourells experience as personal as possible. We enjoyed creating it and we hope you enjoy experiencing it.

Michael Swift
Professional rugby player tells: “For years I have been conscious of my underarm perspiration and sometimes felt uneasy in social situations due to the worry and stress attributed to the sweating. I heard that Quay Dental can provide a quick and easy solution to this problem so I arranged an appointment with them. I found the whole process starting with the consultation with Dr. Creaven informative and completely stress free. After receiving the treatment, I was amazed at how quick and relatively painless the procedure was and after 48 hours the results were incredible. Since visiting Quay Dental the procedure has allowed me to be more comfortable in social situations and helped to enlighten others who may have been nervous or sceptical about the treatment. Thank you Lisa and all the team at Quay Dental!”

Nioxon Nioxon is an affordable solution to thinning or noticeably thin hair. It helps to stimulate hair growth and revive the hair that is there. It works in several different ways. It has a deep cleansing effect on the scalp. A healthy clean scalp promotes healthy hair growth. It also improves the density of each individual hair. We are seeing good results with this product and some thicker heads of hair coming back to us.
Kerastase Oleo-Curl Kérastase Crème d’Huile Oléo-Curl is an oil-based cream that provides suppleness and definition to curly hair. The nourishing formula will leave your hair soft, supple, light and shiny from root to tip and curls will be left defined and disciplined. This is one of our best sellers and for good reason. Many clients use it alongside Shu Uemura’s Kaze Wave to great effect.
Potion 9 Potion 9, an iconic product for the past 20 years, has arrived at Yourells. It is the ultimate versatile and conditioning styling cream. Infused with 9 Botanical extracts it helps restore lost moisture and rejuvenate the healthy look of your hair. Great as a detangler and light enough to be used with your other styling products.

The Style
Side “Faux” Fringe Why make the commitment to a full on fringe when a simple parting can give you a beautiful approximation. Creating a low side part and sweeping the hair over the forehead gives the tom-boyish style a feminine feel. Go as thick as you like with the “fringe” just vary the section accordingly, tuck behind the ear and pin into place. A great way to create a new look without chopping your locks!
Beehive Go big and bold with a 1960’s inspired beehive! This classic style screams vintage glamour. Beehive hairstyles are great for anyone going for this look or those that just want to add some height! If you love volume get ready to embrace this timeless look, with its many famous examples from Audrey Hepburn’s elegance to Amy Winehouse’s messy beehive, it’s a style that has lasted. There are many ways to make your beehive modern. Wear it half-up/half down to change up the look.
Plaits Since plaits are such a constant in the world of beauty the only question is which way you like to wear them. It’s a style that is so easy to create but has plenty of impact. This season’s runways provided plenty of inspiration – they have been reignited in a smoother, more elegant fashion. The glossy finish is what makes it stand apart from side plaits of recent trends. Why not try a peek-a-boo plait. Choose a section of hair that will allow your braid to pop through and be seen as your hair moves.
19
The Cut
Classic Pixie Crop With a whole host of celebs going for the chop this year, it’s safe to say the pixie crop is here to stay. This is bold and brave hair that makes a statement. This will suit nearly all ages, face shapes and hair textures. The crop is low maintenance in styling terms but can be high maintenance as far as the cut goes- regular six week trims are a must to keep your pixie looking fresh.
Polished Mid-Length For the best way to wear your mid-length hair this season think big, bouncy and full of volume. Following on from last year’s grown out bob, this year we’re going for a more polished and sophisticated approach. A great style for most hair textures- the length stops fine hair being too weighed down and thick haired ladies can embrace their natural volume. Set hair with Velcro rollers and part on the side to achieve the look.
The 60’s Inspired Fringe Nearly all of this seasons runways featured fringes of some sort or another. Retro style is having a major fashion moment and the same goes for hair. Go for a heavy sweeping side fringe with a very low parting or alternatively go with this heavy, lid-grazing fringe, best worn longer at the sides and with texture in the centre. Wear your 60’s fringe with mid-long hair and a natural texture throughout.
20
The Colour
Base Blondes A great way to enrich over-highlighted hair is to darken the base, taking it as close to natural colour as possible. Ombré colour is still quite popular, but it may leave you craving a bit of brightness. Add subtle face-framing highlights to refresh this look.
Tangerine Treats A block tangerine colour is bang-on-trend from this season’s shows. We love this Celine catwalk look. From a very vibrant block colour to a pasty undertone you can go as wild or subtle as you like with this one.
Bold Brunettes It’s all about rich chocolate browns with golden strands woven through the lengths. This gives a fresh twist on the ‘natural’ brunette for this season. The subtle two-tone will make your hair more textured and fuller looking without losing any of your rich warm softness.

‘Your’ WeddingStyle Guide
We will be launching our very own wedding style guide soon. This is a completely new service that you will not get anywhere else. We help you plan your total look for your wedding, giving you ideas and inspiration. Setting a theme for the day is all about reflecting your personalities. Deciding on this early takes the hard work out of it and makes a lot of those difficult decisions easier. During an in-depth consultation we will use our wedding style guide to talk you through different styles and themes. Are you a contemporary or classic, boho or retro bride? With a vast array of experience in working with brides and bridal parties we’ve seen that your hair should be for more than just a day; The hen night, the rehearsal and dinner, the wedding day, the after party and honey moon. We will work out a plan for you months in advance to get you your perfect hair for these memorable (and photographed!) moments. The colour you’ve always dreamt of, hair that bounces and shines…..all it takes is a clear vision and time.

Irish Hairdressing Awards On Monday 21st of October 2013, we shut up shop and all headed to the Aviva stadium, Dublin for the annual Schwarzkopf Professional Irish Hairdressing Business Awards. The awards, which were attended by over 650 industry professionals, are unique in that they recognise exceptional business acumen and the most talented and committed salons in the Irish hairdressing industry. The competition was stiff, being up against some of the best in the business from around the country. We were extremely proud and delighted to take home four awards on the day; Customer Care Award, Marketing Salon of the Year, Reception/Front of House Award and Connacht Trainee of the Year!
Behind the scenes, we work hard on each of these categories. They are of the utmost importance to us and an integral part of the Yourells brand and philosophy.
24
Marketing At Yourells, we try to think outside the box when it comes to marketing. We carry out surveys annually, it is crucially important that we understand what our clients want and act on the information we gather from surveys. Although we do occasionally run advertising campaigns, we prefer to do our marketing through PR and events while giving something back to our clients in the process e.g. Blowdry Classes. Our Facebook page is an essential tool, it gives us the opportunity to engage with customers and keep them up-to-date. Don’t forget to “like us!
25
Customer care We endeavour to maintain a high level of customer care and have many systems in place to help us achieve this. Our pre-booked appointment system provides clients with their preferred appointment date and time to give “fabulous hair all the time! Consistency is key. Our Buddy System and accurate, up-to-date record keeping ensures each and every client receives the same level of customer care on every visit. We provide a Call-Back Service to new and existing clients that have had a change of colour or cut. This allows us to follow up with our clients and provide any further advice or assistance they may need.
26
Reception / Front of House - James Every clients experience begins and ends at reception, making it an integral part of the Yourells journey. James has come into his own over the past year getting to know each client and understanding their individual needs. He is the voice we love to hear at the end of the phone and the friendly face we all look forward to seeing when we walk in the door.
27
Connacht Trainee of the Year- Sarah Over the past 10 years we have built up a fully complete and structured training programme which every trainee must follow. Each section of the programme has five modules with an exam at the end of each. The trainee must pass each exam before they are fully qualified to do that particular job- this includes everything from gowning up to shampooing to blowdrying and colour application. We are so proud of Sarah’s achievement and believe it’s a great example of not only our training plan working but her dedication and hard work paying off. “Huge congratulations to Anna, Carol, James, Sarah and all the team at Yourells on their four awards. An achievement only matched by one other salon in the whole competition.” “The business was successful across a range of categories showing a holistic business approach across marketing, training and customer care.” “Over 40 salons were finalists on the day and they really have reflected all that is great about the Irish hairdressing industry which has shown real resilience and innovation in the current economic climate.” Michael Berggren, General Manager UK and Ireland for Schwarzkopf Professional
