2 01 2 V ETERANS F ALL A RT S HOW Mission Statement: Clovis Art Guild’s Annual Veteran’s Fine Art show Honors serving military and veterans from any time in our U.S. History who have protected our country and their heroism. We hope the artwork in the show will represent the deep patriotism felt by the citizens of our community and country.

Categories: Oil & Acrylics, Watercolor, Sculpture, Pastel, Mixed Media and Drawing; (military subjects are preferred but not required in these categories) Military--Best Entry depicting a military branch of service (Artists may use any fine art media or sculpture; subjects: Portraits, figures, still life, landscape, interior, seascapes, and animals are all acceptable) . Please Read the Rules of exhibit.

Prize Money: Cash prizes will be offered for First, Second, Third places. Best Entry depicting a military branch of service will receive a special award. Honorable Mentions will be awarded ribbons. There must be 10 entries in each category for monetary awards, 7 for judging; categories may be combined for judging purposes. Winning Art with military subjects may be used for show publicity purposes and on the cover of the next years prospectus.

Receiving Thursday Nov 1, 2012 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Clovis Veteran’s Memorial Building, 808 4th Street, Clovis, CA 93612. Due to limited Space, this show may be juried.

Entry Fee: $20.00 for non-members $15.00 for CAG members (non-refundable) Reception: Wednesday, November 7, 2012 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Awards to be given out this night. Public is welcome.

Pickup: November 13, 2012 from 5 – 6p.m. There will be a $5.00 charge per day for any art not picked up on time.

Exhibit Hours: Mon – Friday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday Nov 11 only: 9.00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Clovis Art Guild would be most appreciative if artists who have entries would volunteer to be a host/hostess for at least one 4 hour period during the running of the show. Thank You. Liability: All entries will be handled with the utmost care and protection, but Clovis Memorial District or the Clovis Art Guild will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any entry whatsoever the cause, before, during or after the exhibits. Artists should carry their own insurance. CMD reserves the right to photograph the work for publicity purpos-

RULES

OF

EXHIBIT

1. THIS IS A THEMED SHOW. YOU MAY ENTER YOUR ART IN THE THEME CATEGORY “MILITARY” USING ANY MEDIA OF FINE ART OR SCULPTURE. THERE ARE ALSO 6 “OPEN SUBJECT” CATEGORIES: OIL/ACRYLIC, WATERCOLOR, PATEL, DRAWING, MIXED MEDIA AND SCULPTURE.

2. All entries must have been completed within the last three years. All painting media, graphics, and sculpture are acceptable..

3. No copies of artwork done partially or totally by commercial printing processes. No copies of another’s work by using postcards, art books, magazines or other printed material.

4. Due to copyright issues art depicting famous people or celebrities may not be entered without the express written permission of that person.

5. No class-work or work done under supervision.

Independent work that has been critiqued by a professional is acceptable as is independent work done in a class-room environment.

6. A signed and completed entry form must accompany each work.

7. All paintings must be framed (gallery wrap is acceptable). Use of metal frames is at the risk of the artist.

8. No more than 3 entries per category and no more than 9 entries per artist. Entries cannot have been shown in consecutive Clovis Art Guild juried shows.

9. The maximum size is 48” x 48”, maximum weight 25 lbs. Screws for hanging must be no more than 4” inches from the top of the frame and the wire must

not show over the top of the frame. Flat hangers only, no Saw-tooth, screw eyes/eyelet hangers or quick frames and no screw eyes. The ends of the wire must be taped or sleeved.

10. Art may not be removed prior to 3:00 p.m. on November 12, 2012.

11. All oils must be completely dry. Watercolor, Drawing and mixed media must be under glass, unless larger than 24” x 24” and then plexi-glass is required.

Frames must be in good repair and ready to hang.

THERE WILL BE NO REPAIR TABLE. 12. Artists entering sculptures too large to fit on a display table should provide their own pedestal.

13. Categories may be combined for judging purposes at the discretion of the Show Chairman and Judge

14. Eligibility: This show is open to all artists 18 years or older Artists under 18 need a parent or guardian’s signature on the entry form
