Congratulations to our wonderful students who have studied subjects within the Arts and Technology Learning Areas in 2022. Similarly to the last two years, Visual Arts and Technology studies have continued to be a healthy creative outlet during times of uncertainty, providing an opportunity for quiet reflection and growth.
The cover image for this year's booklet comes from Year 12 student Charlotte Burrows. After weeks of work and time spent at lunchtimes creating her final sculpture piece, the only thing left behind was a broken mess of pieces as her work blew up in the kiln when it was fired. Despite this setback she set about piecing the work back together again in a re worked form, complimenting her theme of mental health being broken, rebuilding and emerging stronger.
As teachers, we are very proud of how well all of our students have performed, seizing the opportunity to learn creatively, as showcased in their unique artworks, designs and constructions.
As graduates, having the ability to communicate through visuals and think creatively will be a valuable skill in their toolkit as they continue to grow and adapt to further study, work, and emerging professions and career paths in the future
We look forward to seeing each of them continue to flourish in the years ahead
An action phycological thriller set during the Vietnam/Cold War era and focusing on the story of Tony a survivor of the Vietnam war and taken advantage of by the CIA. Tony tries to live life after the war when he gets a phone call and everything spirals out of control
My Media Studies 2022 film production was created as a dramatizing event that takes place through the window of reality. A psychological thriller with evidence of drama that outlines an 'ordinary Sunday.' My film is about the journey of a girl who is struggling to face the reality of her lost partner who died in a car accident. My film reflects the psychological journey of the protagonist and how she comes to the realization of her loss at the end. Aimed at senior students who enjoy solving a puzzle and picking their own plot with an element of love behind it.
For my year 12 final year production I made sure to capture the realistic serious look of an action film whilst also capturing the silly, laughable acting of a comedy film
Using only 4 actors, 1 phone and 1 gimbal I made a 5 1/2 minute film about revenge.
During year 12 media, I created a small film production called 'Amiss' The genre of my film is drama/thriller, which follows a 14 year old boy named Franki who is challenged to accept the guilt of his past. The film is voiced over is by Franki's best friend William who went missing last summer. It is intended that Franki is going to William's house to find closure but... is later revealed there is more to the story then what has been told Willam never gets his side of the story heard and Franki will forever be haunted by his past the style of my film is inspired by the TV show 'Euphoria' and include modern music throughout my film to engage and entertain my attended audience of 'Gen Z'.
My intention when crafting my film was to create a genre bending romantic/horror film that pays homage to Universal Horror Films of the 40's through to the 60's. I wanted to build up the audience's expectation of what they are going to see, then subvert it through a complete twist in genre.
In my Year 12 Production I attempted to resonate with those familiar of the Western Genre by paying homage to classic codes and conventions and by using a warm colour palette. These shot examples include 2 out of my 3 actors within the film. This was filmed by hand using my iPhone 11 without access to stabilisation equipment, it was then edited in Premiere Pro, my software of choice. Overall, the film was close to 4 and 1/2 minutes long and I hope that after watching, my audience can see my intent with it and view it to be clear and well executed.
For my final media production, I made a mystery film set in the 1920’s that revolves around the suspicious murders committed by one of the guests at a house party It remained true to the mystery genre and included a lot of cliches and plot twists and was heavily inspired by the board game Cluedo. My film included moments of suspense, mystery and comedy and the main codes I worked with were, sound, lighting and colour, I even created my own score for the film
I based my media production around a thriller/horror film that allows the audience to feel a build up of suspense and keep them on their toes. It is about a modern day teenage girl who gets stalked after hearing of a similar story that occurred with a girl who goes to the same school as her.
My year 12 production is a Crime/Western film intended for audiences aged 15+ years of age. My film looks to engage its audience by using codes and conventions such as sound, editing, lighting, and setting. I want my audience to finish watching this film and feel satisfied with what they consumed along with being left wanting more from it based on the suspenseful ending.
In year 12 media I chose print and made ten different magazine covers that had a cosplay theme. I really enjoyed making these as I went through different processes and trails to make my final product.
The end-user is seeking a practical shoe rack to go in their garage and store a number of different sizes and shaped shoes off the ground. The shoe rack needs to fit in with the cupboards and table already in the garage. It must also fit in the designated space and not obstruct entry into the house
The end-user was seeking a mid-century modern styled bedside table that suited the interests of a young adult. This style incorporated a simple but visually appealing design that reveals light timbers and significant grain movement to create a unique look. The bedside table needs to provide internal storage and additionally provide a space to decorate the room with photos, candles etc.
