...to have and to be... Beeinflusst von der intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit westlicher Philosophie, steht Kwang Sung Parks gesamtes Schaffen unter dem Titel “to have and to be“.
...to have and to be... Eastern tradition and western influences get mixed in perfect harmony in the works of Kwang Sung Park. Influenced by the intensive analaysis with western philosophy the artist’s work stays under the title “to have and to be”. His paintings show huge faces without any individual features and getting out of the dark particulate with shaded areas. Another sujet of Swang Sung Park are the fragment body and landscapes with clouds of dense fog. His technique is discreet because of colour, frame and subject. The subject is reduced to essential elements. He uses a monochrome palette und creates a symbolism. For the artist black means the tangible presence of every colour - it is “to have”. White symbolizes “to be”. It stands for the absence of every colour - a void to be filled. Kwang Sung Park do not take a position. Black and White get mixed into grey tones. The unique artistic formulation of the artist is quity philosophic and poetic at the same time. His pictures visualizes a mental prozess. In this prozess questions are asked and answers are sought. By watching the artworks you can sink in and admire the aesthetic. But in spite of every gentleness the works have a huge symbolic power and effect of the viewer. Like a poet the artist gives hints and suggests, but he never anticipates an interpretation; he gives impulses, but never teaches. Die artworks ask the viewer to get an own perspective and invite him/her to get deep into it.
