Welcome to a regular NamWheels feature: our top 5 car-related list. Have you ever wondered which is the most popular vehicle colour in our country? Well, we have! It’ s fairly easy to see that white and silver are the most popular, but we ’ re always delighted to see a great mix of other automotive hues around the highways and city streets. HOW WE MEASURED THIS

Umm, this list was composed in mid September 2022 while we weere bombing around the upper parts of our beautiful country, with a lengthy return trip to the capital via some coastal towns. Omitted from these observations are the far eastern and northern areas, as well as the very southern coastal bits of Namibia. WHITE

This should come as no surprise; for quite a few reasons. Firstly, white is a great choice when the annual rainfall is 2mm and the sun bakes down on us relentlessly for 364.5 days per year. Secondly, white cars are very visible on the road and easy to clean or repair, which makes them so popular with hard-working southern Africans. Did someone say South Africa? Call it a sheeple syndrome or just plain supply issues: white cars are always available from the factories.

What do you get when you want the cool nature of white but with some extra sparkle to it? Well, besides pearl white, a silver car is just as easy to spot in traffic or to keep looking shiny. The only downside to this colour is that any respray work is We spotted quite a few red or maroon cars around the coastal parts of our country but want to note that a large proportion of them were older and/or imported vehicles. Compared to South Africa, Namibia certainly has As one of our favourite colours for most vehicles, we certainly approve of the many blues we’ve seen around the country; be it light/baby/powder blue, various metallic hues, navy or dark blue. The same goes for greys but we find that medium and brown tones of grey are the best at hiding dirt!
