THE CAREER ADVANTAGE

More than 95 percent of recent Gallaudet graduates are employed or in graduate school. Join alumni who work at the White House, the Smithsonian, Lockheed Martin, the National Institutes of Health, WorldTeach International, Wells Fargo, the CIA, the Peace Corps, Starbucks corporate headquarters and more. Of course, great jobs only tell part of the story. Maybe you want to travel. Invent something. Run for political office. Start your own company. Make a difference in the lives of children. Then you’ve found the right university. Gallaudet students, alumni and faculty are influencing attitudes, education, culture, technology and opportunities nationally and worldwide. And so can you.

Internships are required in almost all of our programs.

Connections in Washington, D.C., and Abroad More than 80 percent of full-time Gallaudet students participate in at least one internship before graduation. Our bachelor’s degree programs have an extensive network of established sites and work with the Career Center to develop even more opportunities. See gallaudet.edu/career-center

A Good Investment In many of our undergraduate departments, 100 percent of recent alumni are employed or in graduate school within one year of graduation. The median annual earnings range of those employed full time is $30,000 to $39,999 in their first year.

“The challenging courses at Gallaudet helped me imagine what the working world would be like. Thanks to the Career Center and the three internships I had before graduation (at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Smithsonian Institution and the Department of Labor), I learned the importance of professional networking. Networking helped me land a job with Merrill Lynch. “My advice to current students is to begin your job search while you’re still in college, even as early as your junior year.” Robert Tackie, ’02 B.S., Computer Information Systems (currently offered as Information Technology) Merrill Lynch 2

“As a Gallaudet University student, I had many opportunities to lead and to excel. I took what I learned in my business and accounting classes and applied it to my work with student organizations. I networked extensively with students, faculty, and staff, and this led to the job I hold now. At USAID, I am responsible for auditing the activities of the InterAmerican Foundation and the U.S. African Development Foundation, and I travel extensively. I also chair the agency’s Employees with Disabilities board. None of this would have been possible without the solid education I received at Gallaudet.” Amy J.
