You will discover a welcoming, respectful community united in its passion to make a difference in the world. You will find people and programs that will support you, challenge you and strengthen you.

Each spring, UnityFest highlights the variety of cultures on campus, and the community celebrates LGBTQA graduates with a Lavender Graduation.

“Gallaudet has been my gateway of opportunity and gave me freedom in an environment where communication flows freely and easily. I am now more confident to go out and accomplish my dreams.”

Diverse in Many Ways More than 40 percent of our undergraduate students and about 25 percent of our faculty identify themselves as part of a traditionally underrepresented group in higher education. Simply put, all students are welcomed and supported in our campus community.

“AS A FIRST-GENERATION STUDENT, THE TRANSITION TO COLLEGE LIFE WAS CHALLENGING, BUT GALLAUDET STAFF AND FACULTY WERE ALWAYS SUPPORTIVE OF MY ACADEMIC NEEDS AND PROVIDED MENTORING AND RESOURCES TO HELP ME SUCCEED.” —Andrea Vigil, ‘15 Salt Lake City, Utah Communication Studies Major

For Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing Students Our undergraduate students come from many academic backgrounds including mainstream programs and schools for deaf and hard of hearing students. We offer support for new signers, students with and without cochlear implants, and international students who are learning English.
