George Lopez’s illustrious and multi-faceted career encompasses television, film, stand-up comedy and late-night television. Lopez has broken ground for Latino comics by embracing his ethnicity, confronting racial stereotypes, and fighting for his community on and off the stage.
Lopez currently stars in a multi-camera comedy series for NBC, Lopez vs. Lopez , featuring his real-life daughter, Mayan Lopez. The family sitcom, which has been renewed for its second season, follows George and Mayan in a fictionalized version of their real-life fatherdaughter relationship, exploring dysfunction, reconnection, and all the pain and joy in between.
This will be just his third appearance at the Gallo Center since 2014.

Gerardo Ortiz has revolutionized Banda and corrido music to become an admired household name among millions of fans who are thrilled by his charisma, talent and originality. Now this chart-topping Regional Mexican star is coming to Modesto to make his Gallo Center debut!
Celebrated by millions as the “King of Corrido,” Ortiz’s hits are modern, with innovative arrangements and lyrics that put them way ahead of the usual fare. However, the story of his young life is as real and as amazing as his songs. Ortiz rose to overnight success in 2010 with the release of his major label debut Ni Hoy Ni Mañana , which landed in the Top 5 of the Latin Albums chart and received a Grammy nomination for Best Norteño Album. Ortiz followed up with several chart-topping live albums and his second studio album Entre Dios y el Diablo , which peaked at No. 1 on the Latin Albums chart and included the hit single “Cara A La Muerte.”

“Foxworthy is especially virtuosic in his physical comedy, his flights of fancy and lightning shifts of tone and mood, he blends all these elements effortlessly. He may define being redneck as possessing “a glorious lack of sophistication,” but the truth is that Foxworthy, for all his regular-guy image, is a decidedly sophisticated artist.”

One of the most respected and successful comedians in the country, Jeff Foxworthy rose to fame with his wholly original ‘You might be a redneck if…” routines, but his career accomplishments go far beyond that. You might say he’s the Redneck Renaissance Man given all that he’s packed into his career.
Jeff hosted the live auction show “What’s It Worth?” for A&E in the summer of 2020. He was one of the judges on the NBC comedy competition show “Bring the Funny,” which premiered July 9, 2019 and was one of summer’s hit shows. He has his own comedy channel “Jeff and Larry’s Comedy Roundup” on Sirius XM, which showcases the best in great American comedy. He has a comedy special “We’ve Been Thinking,” which is currently available on Netflix. He released a game called “Relative Insanity” and another called “See What I Mean,” both which provide lots of family fun. In addition to all of this he continues his live performances across the country.
Jeff hosted the FOX Television game show “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” for several seasons. He hosted three seasons of “The American Bible Challenge” for GSN, had an animated series “Bounty Hunters” on CMT, hosted the reality series “The American Baking Competition” for CBS and narrated the Lifetime reality show “The Week the Women Left.”
[You may wish to pause here and catch your breath.]
Jeff executive produced and starred in, “Foxworthy’s Big Night Out” and the television series, “Blue Collar TV,” which he created for the WB network. “Blue Collar TV” came about due to the success of Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The Movie and The Concert Tour of the same name. The movie premiered on Comedy Central and was the highest rated movie in the channel’s history. To date the movie has sold more than 4 million units.
In his spare time, Jeff has written some 26— twenty-six —books. One, “The Redneck Dictionary,” is based on the popular words of the south Jeff recounts in his stand-up act. It went to #2 on the New York Times Bestseller List. Other best-selling books include “How to Really Stink at Golf,” which shares his invaluable tips for a lifetime of horrible drives and putts, “How to Really Stink at Work,” and a children’s book, “Dirt on My Shirt.”
Some redneck.

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. An eclectic group of six kids vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially madeup) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

Long hair, tobacco, over-sized glasses and a trucker hat, Dusty Slay is the self-effacing, bourbon-voiced Southern comedian next door with a knack for observational, blue-collar humor and the nerve to say what everyone else is thinking. He grew up the son of a single mom in an Alabama trailer park and evokes laughs about everything from Cracker Barrel to his aversion to soap. The 40-year-old Nashville native is a mainstay on the country music scene, making his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2019 – the youngest at the time, and adding dozens of appearances in the historic Circle ever since.
Dusty also has appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” has a Comedy Central special to his credit and has an hourlong special on Netflix, “Workin’ Man.” With almost 20 years of eliciting guffaws through his laidback observations, comedic cadence and conversational style, Dusty is just getting started bringing his brand of relatable working-class comedy to audiences coast to coast.
Comedy is subjective. The Gallo Center does not provide advisories or ratings about subject matter, as sensitivities greatly vary from person to person. We encourage the use of Google or YouTube to learn more about a show or performer before making a ticket purchase.

Following a decade touring the world as one of the most successful magic shows in history, the Champions of Magic team are back with an explosive ALL NEW show featuring thrilling and mind-bending illusions. Fusing their skills in grand scale magic, a flair for spectacle and undeniable showmanship, this interactive, high-energy show is sure to entertain the entire family. Combining their signature humor with groundbreaking magic, the world’s only team of illusionists present a brand-new production unlike anything that has come before.
Richard Young and Sam Strange began their magical journey at eight years old, bonding over a shared love of magic and creating Las Vegas-style illusions from cardboard and tape. With little money, they innovated, crafting original illusions and magic tricks, and soon became one of the most unique illusion acts in the world.
Liberty has been surrounded by magic her entire life. She is a fourth-generation magician of the Larsen family, the creators of the Magic Castle in Hollywood. Liberty has performed on stages across land and sea, particularly in Hollywood’s most exclusive secret venues, leaving an effect on her audiences that is distinct, imaginative and bewitching.
Fernando Velasco got his inside look into the world of illusion through his father’s job at the Magic Castle. Mentored by some of America’s leading illusionists, he has won many accolades from the magic community. In 2017, he became the youngest performer to present his version of “Houdini’s Water Torture Cell,” escaping handcuffed and padlocked from a sealed six-foot tank of water.

Opera Modesto’s General Director, Roy Stevens, will star in the title role of Falstaff , a role he has performed to great acclaim on four continents!
Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff is often called the greatest operatic comedy ever composed, and is based primarily on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor . This heartwarming comedy tells of the knight Sir John Falstaff who has fallen on hard times and schemes to get his hands on some cash by romancing two wealthy wives of Windsor - Alice Ford and Meg Page. However, when these best friends find out that he has sent them both an identical love letter, they decide to teach Falstaff a lesson!
After plots and counterplots, confusion, disguises, deception, and a dunking in the River Thames by way of a laundry basket, the entire company agrees that the whole world may be nothing but a jest filled with jesters, but he who laughs last, laughs best!
Sung in Italian, with English supertitles. Opera Insights one hour before curtain .
