This year, teachers will take back the classroom! This year, YOU will be the true queen (or king!) of Common Core!
I have chosen to embrace Common Core as an opportunity,
hopefully, to reinvigorate rigor, relevance, and even more hopefully, energy, joy, enrichment, and all those things many of us once enjoyed in the classroom, whether teacher or student.
Is Common Core a cure-all for what ails schools? Probably not!
But we are tired of “teaching to the test,” so YES! Let’s try something new and do so with vigor and enthusiasm!
Yes, the queen business is sor t of silly (but you gotta love the tiara; I never had one before!), but truly, we have tried to group new Common Core offerings “by subject” to save you time. I got the idea when dreaming that our local grocery store put all the breakfast stuff on one aisle, lunch on another, etc. so that I could zip in and buy bread, peanut but ter, jelly, chips, and Chips-Ahoy all in one fell swoop! Queens are busy, you know.
And so are teachers!
