When we first envisioned Gallup Community Health (GCH), the core team believed firmly that healthcare is a human right and excellent, accessible care right here in Gallup is not only possible, but imperative. We also knew that Gallup, McKinley County and the surrounding communities are very special places filled with resilient, kind people who work hard and care hard for one another.

What we didn’t anticipate is how much our vision would align with the vision of our community and how incredible the community support would be. When a portion of the community lost access to prenatal care, GCH knew we needed to step in to be there for pregnant patients, babies and their families, but we couldn’t do it alone.

And you, our community both near and far, stepped up. And stepped-up big time. In less than two weeks, with Sara Pikaart’s dedication, and with the help of so many others who shared their stories and shared our posts and donated, we are thrilled to announce that you successfully raised the $20,000 needed to begin offering prenatal care.

Thanks to you - GCH NOW PROVIDES PRENATAL CARE.

We are partnering with Cibola General in Grants to arrange for labor and delivery for many of our patients. We’ll be working with the ABQ hospitals as well. We continue to coordinate closely with OB/ GYN Dr. Walker and Dr. Palm. It takes a village - and the greater Gallup village is pretty amazing.

We will leave the GoFundMe up a bit longer in case there are others who would like to donate to GCH more generally.
