High up and with a fantastic view over woods, widely-spread neighbouring houses and tucked into a fold in the landscape is our location. A home set snugly amongst the hills. We’ve take a series of snapshots of furnipart’s 015 range of new handles set amongst tight architectural lines, vintage style, concrete floors, special acoustic ceilings and an eight meter long oiled oak table, forming the axis of this split level home.

- The process of starting up a new collection of handles is always exciting and challenging and this time around was no different. the news015 range is forceful in expression, impression and direction. The direction is threedimensional and we worked with three different trends: Contemporary - a relaxed, elegant style, strongly derived from furnipart’s design concept. On the spot, discreet and functional. Vintage - face it, it’s here to stay. A trend that has really taken root. Our interpretation reflects the current Scandinavian level. The outcome is original and strong.
The handleless kitchen - long, astringent lines. Aluminium profiles create graphic attention-grabbers to raise the design bar and please the eye.
We feature “spot-on Aluminium” in a special 4 page spread on the centre pages. We are launching five new handles, each with their own appeal and all at an attractive price. news015 handle designs will influence our homes and style this year regardless of design theme. That’s our aim and our intention.

challenging handleless kitchens - PARALLEL designed as the handle for the handleless kitchen! VE2 wanted to challenge the trend towards kitchens with no visible handles of recent years by designing a handle integrated into doors and drawer fronts, yet which clearly indicates that there is a handle there. The result is the best of two worlds: the unbroken lines of a handleless kitchen which still clearly indicates the function of its fronts and handle locations.

- PARALLEL’s characteristic design lies in the long linear look it lends to a kitchen. The handle’s recess is cut using soft lines, yet still with sufficient astringency to supplement the linear look. The bottom of the handle is slightly rounded to give comfortable contact with the finger tips. But the edge is sharp, to ensure that it feels precise and easy to grip.

Arena - like an arena or stadium - The continuous circular form and angled front face of ARENA are distinct and complementary design elements. Like an arena or stadium, ARENA’s style and function will play a central role in your kitchen.

ARENA has a “secret grip� under the top lip that is not visible from the front but provides a very effective and comfortable grip. The positioning of the fasteners ensure an invisible, flat and secure mounting against the cabinet surface. All edges are visually continuous so there are no sharp corners or areas that are difficult to clean.

- I am very satisfied that this design achieves my aim of a versatile and timeless design. The recessed grip feature under the handle does not compromise the purity of the form. As a handle and knob set, this design will provide a softer complementary theme to linear panel designs. The handle will reflect very nicely when mounted on a high gloss panel finish.

Welcome to Havanna - HAVANNA is designed as a round, conical handle component that smoothly morphs into a flatter and triangular plinth. All dimensions are minimised as much as possible without making the handle fragile or weak.

Function is the key. Touching and gripping it feels natural and comfortable. The shape reflects the times with a more organic expression. The latest production techniques provide greater freedom to work with more complicated shapes, encouraging the designer to push out the boundaries of what is possible.

Calm, relaxed Rho - In terms of design, RHO primarily draws its expression from playing with circles and the desire to produce an astringent, simple handle. The front is concave, the back towards the furniture is convex. The feet blend into the basic shape and are also curved in cross-section.
Kamper Form
My memory of a handle on a fridge in my childhood has also had a certain influence on the design. RHO’s front is probably its most characteristic feature with its concave/convex shape. Yet despite the concave shape, this is a soft handle to touch.

HANGER - AN ENDLESS LOOP - The idea of HANGER started out as a statement - an endless loop with an outer edge the finger can slide along in a smooth movement, but a design that could stand out from the surface in its own right.

The loop brings to mind the running track in a stadium and the curvature of the innermost lane, like the velodrome at the London Olympics. The idea behind the twisted surface of the curve combined with the extreme straightness provides the strongest form of contrast. The model developed from a sports-related fascination into a solid handle with its own identity and that can easily be used in almost any kitchen.

It is seldom that a handle with a shape that stands out so prominently yet is so long. The innermost surface feels good in the hand, and furnipart has managed to use the materials to enhance the design in the most attractive way.

mercury combines tradition and renewal - MERCURY is a feminine handle, inspired by the aquatic element and the tension of its surface.
Kamper Form
The feet are undoubtedly its most characteristic feature, and are even a little cute. I wanted to design a handle with lots of character yet lightness - modern with a hint of the historic. Getting the right shape from sketches and models was far from easy. It was a challenge, but one that suddenly solved itself.
