"Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing"

Perhaps you have heard this maxim before. It is not certain who first coined this phrase, but many believe it was Henry Ford.

The principle behind this saying is pretty straightforward in concept, but not so easy to follow in real life. Too easily we are distracted by other influences and can lose sight of what is most important; our “Main Thing”

Buying and selling a home can be a complicated undertaking. There are forms, laws, inspections, loans, moving dates, and on top of all of that, emotions.

It is certainly understandable that with the stress and emotions involved, we can sometimes lose sight of the “Main Thing” which is to have a home that fulfills our needs and wishes. Smaller details can become stressful hurdles where someone must win and someone else must lose.

No one wants to be taken advantage of, but sometimes a small concession can help build goodwill with the other party and lead to a more enjoyable transaction. If something else comes up later, it may be your turn to ask for a favor.

Every situation is unique, but in all cases, it will help if we take a step back and review our “Main Thing” and then measure the proper response.

Your Gambino REALTORS broker is trained and experienced in problem-solving and will be your advocate and adviser to help you remember to “Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing”.
