When I learned about their mission, I was instantly inspired to help. I have continued to volunteer for FCS for the past 13 years, and am proud to serve on the Board. Founded in 1877 by a group of citizens concerned with the well-being of individuals and families in our community, FCS is the oldest charitable organization in Rockford. Those founders understood that individuals and families faced obstacles and crises that could profoundly affect their lives, relationships, and happiness. They understood that offering assistance and guidance could improve the lives of individuals, families, and the community as a whole. At FCS, we believe that everyone should have access to vital services, regardless of income. Services such as counseling, psychotherapy, and family life education are available on a sliding scale fee basis, which allows FCS to offer everyone the benefit of professional counseling, regardless of whether they have insurance or not. As one of our clients recently stated “For the first time, I can say that I feel a place of inner confidence developing that will serve me the rest of my life. Because of generous people that provide donations to FCS, people like me are able to receive the important help we need to carry on with our lives.
