Dedicated coverage of gaming in the Americas Sept/Oct 2023

CONTINUING THE RECORD-SETTING ROLL

Maureen Beddis, SVP, Membership and Events at the American Gaming Association, shares her excitement for not only G2E, but the overall growth of the gaming industry.

Late last fall, I officially joined the American Gaming Association. While it was shortly after Global Gaming Expo 2022, I was able to attend G2E in an unofficial capacity. As an observer, it quickly became apparent just how essential our industry’s premier event is to gaming’s success. From handshakes on the expo floor to the conversations in panels throughout the week, G2E is the definitive place to both do business and shape the trajectory of gaming.

This year, the AGA and our partners at RX are thrilled to host the

global gaming community in Las Vegas again for G2E 2023 from October 9-12, with exhibitors and sponsors – both returning and new – ready to make their mark on a growing industry.

A key program at the AGA is our leading market research which helps us keep our finger on the pulse of the industry. Our data shows that since the beginning of 2021, commercial gaming revenue has seen 10 straight quarters of yearover-year growth, a testament to our industry’s sustained success since the worst impacts of the pandemic subsided. And through the first half of 2023, we are on pace to break our annual revenue record for a remarkable third consecutive year, reaching $16.1bn and pacing a full 12% ahead of 2022.

Numbers are up across the board, with traditional slots and table games still making up the majority of revenue, but sports betting and iGaming accounting for the lion’s share of growth. This year’s G2E

will display our industry’s momentum across every sector.

While the future of the casino floor will remain the mainstay of this year’s expo, sports betting will also continue to feature prominently. And new to this year’s expo will be a specialized “iGaming Zone,” highlighting ongoing innovation and growing interest in online gaming.

Similarly, this year’s education conference will focus on new and traditional conversations. AI and digital payments will take center stage in several sessions as technology’s role in the industry continues to grow. While important discussions around combating the illegal market, responsible gaming, marketing, regulation, Tribal and international gaming, and more will also drive content.

From new products to new ideas, we can’t wait to see how this year’s show advances the industry, as every company represented at G2E makes up an expanding gaming ecosystem that fuels economies and supports communities. In the US, that means more than $13bn in annual state and local tax revenue for critical projects and 1.8 million jobs supported nationwide – something we should be proud of.

What is certain is that G2E 2023 will continue to drive our industry forward to succeed both as businesses and as community partners – and we couldn’t be more ready to kick off the expo this fall.

IGAMING, INNOVATION & EDUCATION

Korbi Carrison, Event VP of G2E, shows the changes and updates this year’s event has made, due to the evolving gaming industry itself.

For the global gaming community, the approach of fall also means looking forward to the Global Gaming Expo (G2E). In only a handful of weeks, our industry will gather once again in Las Vegas for G2E 2023. No matter if it’s your first, fifth or even 20th G2E, RX and the American Gaming Association are excited to share details on this year’s programming, education sessions and all that is in store for exhibitors and attendees.

G2E 2023 will have a fresh look and feel, thanks to our new brand we unveiled earlier this year, conveying the transformation of our industry and optimism for our future. Since our last brand update five years ago, the gaming industry has changed significantly.

Legalized gaming has expanded to sports betting and iGaming, and at the same time, digital payments and technology have become even more integral components of the casino experience – and G2E programming.

While new looks are always exciting, our new brand is more than a new logo, it represents the role we play in the future of global gaming. This year will also feature new expo hall activations and a dynamic education program, including:

• Dedicated iGaming Space. G2E will debut an all-new iGaming Zone, offering attendees a chance to connect with iGaming solution providers in a central location to explore the future of the online casino space. This area serves as the beginning of the journey of iGaming discovery through the expo hall.

• Reimagined ‘The Lab.’ While innovation happens across the show floor, the redesigned ‘The Lab’ will serve as a hub for thought leadership and networking opportunities that explore emerging tech in gaming.

• Must-attend education sessions. This year’s education schedule

will feature conversations on critical topics including: the future of the casino floor, iGaming, sports betting, Tribal gaming, combating the illegal market, regulatory developments and more. To help attendees and exhibitors with their G2E experience, we have included descriptions for each of our sessions on our website.

Beyond these reasons to be excited for G2E 2023, attendee and exhibitor engagement is palpable and already pacing ahead of last year’s post-pandemic milestones – pointing to G2E 2023 being our best event yet.

As always, the highlight of G2E will be the show’s dynamic exhibitors, and this year’s lineup will be no different. Featuring more than 350 participating companies from all around the world, G2E will be the launching pad of new products and solutions and the meeting place to conduct real business.

With new activations, an impressive list of exhibitors and education sessions featuring industry leaders and experts –there’s no better place to be for the gaming community than at G2E 2023.

We can’t wait to see you there.

VENI VIDI VEGAS!

What can the attendees of the 2023 Global Gaming Expo (G2E) expect from the industry, the exhibits and the venue on the Las Vegas Strip?

G2E is now embarking on over two decades since its initial debut at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This year, over 25,000 gaming industry professionals and 350 exhibitors will fill the Venetian Expo with networking opportunities, educational sessions, deals and, of course, games. The conference and exhibition are just that: two sides of a shining, Vegas coin where it’s difficult to place your bet on whether to attend a theoretical industry talk, or to go and see the bright, new gaming concepts for yourself on the exhibition floor. G2E is an gargantuan 2.25 million square feet of literal bells and whistles that the Venetian and RX Global have been waiting all year to unveil, and this will be my first time with a ticket to the gambling industry’s greatest show.

As the industry speaks about its past journeys to this veritable gambling Mecca, it seems as if it’s almost impossible to separate the vibrant energy of G2E from that of Las Vegas itself. The so-called Entertainment Capital of the World sets the stage for all parts of the gaming industry: Tribal operations, commercial operations, land-based games, online games, suppliers, payments companies and every single one of their newest product

launches. It is worth stressing, however, that it’s not just about the volume of people present, but about what business is done. Though CEOs may not be as visible as the towering slot machines on the floor of the convention center, this is where everyone who is anyone in the gaming industry comes to make deals as much as spin reels.

So, what can someone expect to see at G2E, other than the obvious and abundant presence of both games and the industry professionals whose work surrounds them? There are a diverse range of educational sessions and networking opportunities, including a focused Accessibility/ Inclusion Meetup for individuals with disabilities and neurodiversity, as well as an African Americans in Gaming Happy Hour. The gaming industry is made up of so many different people from various communities, and at this year’s G2E, Gaming America looks forward to seeing representation for everyone who is part of US gaming’s past, present and future. From a quick look at the schedule of educational topics covered, it’s also easy to see a broad range of industry challenges, advancements and questions on display.

From “Betting on Women: Increasing Opportunities for Inclusive Betting,” to “Combatting Human Trafficking: A Federal Discussion on Collaboration,” to “The Next Era of Tribal Gaming: Politics, Policies & Opportunities,”it’s clear that G2E wants to show that gaming should be a safe, regulated and welcoming space with room for positive growth. And those three sessions are only part of the first day!

The three full days of sessions provide insight into a wealth of industry themes including payments, game design, sports betting, fraud prevention, brand marketing, iGaming and the ever-evolving, and sometimes controversial, subject: artificial intelligence. However, as dominated as the current gaming zeitgeist may be by discussions on technological and AI advancements, it has been heartwarming to hear in almost every conversation Gaming America has had with operators, suppliers and exhibitors going to this year’s show, that connecting with people is still a top priority. G2E attendees want to be part of a meaningful dialogue: face-to-face, expertto-expert. Everyone in the gaming industry wants to make sure they have their fingers on the pulse of what the next big things will be

in terms of innovation, collaboration and fun for all types of players.

Though G2E has become synonymous with Las Vegas, which will certainly bring its own special brand of American hospitality to its guests, this year’s expo may just be more ‘global’ than ever. Over 100 countries and regions will be represented by 2023’s attendees, exhibitors and industry professionals. While North American, and specifically US, regulations and advancements are covered in several of the education sessions, G2E might also be the perfect opportunity for operators, based either across the pond or south of the border, to enter some exciting new markets. In the US, sports betting is now legal and live in 34+ states and Washington DC, with opportunities for more mobile engagement, as well as for more collaborative retail sportsbooks at stadiums and casinos across the country. The expanding market of US iGaming also has room for new players, new operators, new suppliers and new games. Six states already offer online casino gaming, while Rhode Island’s recent legalization in June 2023 will be attractive to companies looking to launch within the state as it goes live in March next year. The G2E exhibition

map also includes a dedicated iGaming Zone.

When speaking to Gaming America, some of this year’s G2E guests also mentioned their excitement to both attend, and potentially receive recognition at, The Global Gaming Awards. The Awards luncheon fits right into the middle of the conference’s first full day of activities and education sessions, and the awards will honor winners from 15 categories, adjudicated by a panel of C-Level and senior executives. For 10 years, the Awards have recognized people, products, companies and properties that have become trailblazers or mainstays within the industry. Award winners will have a sparkling new talking point to carry with them back to their exhibition stands and into networking discussions for the rest of the conference – as well as a sense of satisfaction for a job well done that will no doubt carry on beyond G2E and inspire their work throughout the next year.

But what about after the convention floor clears for the day? You’re still in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip, surrounded by the opportunity to continue doing business against the city’s most surreal and luxurious backdrops. Networking may move to any casino, nightclub, bar or restaurant of your

choice, either on the famous Strip or further afield. Las Vegas also has 310 sunny days each year (a meteorological feat that the London headquarters of our sister magazine, Gambling Insider can only dream of). While you’re at the Venetian it might be rude not to spend a bit of one of those days floating in a gondola across the resort’s electric blue lagoon. The Venetian is also now home to a Yahoo Sportsbook, which just might entice the sports fans attending G2E to stay inside a bit longer to catch a game or two.

The atmosphere at G2E promises to be as vibrant as ever. It absolutely makes sense that this event would be held at a venue that is known for its drama, spectacle and, well, gaming!

What can you tell me about any exhibits CasinoTrac will have at G2E?

We’re happy to come to G2E with an expanded footprint on our casino booth space and a brand-new booth that we are proud to roll out to showcase our features. We have lots of room to demo for potential clients or people who want to learn more about our product lines. We'll have live player loyalty kiosks, live games connected to the system, our KioskTrack product, what we call 'KT Mobile,' which is the mobile app extension of the kiosk functionalities for player loyalty. We’ll also show the core operations of our system. When it comes to being able to see how the slot floor is designed, how the slot floor operates and what the revenue audit process looks like. There’s a lot of things that have to happen before you get to the bells and whistles that are a lot of fun – and those things have to be solid.

The CasinoTrac system has a solid platform from an architecture that’s proven with incredible uptime. On top of that we layer both a SQL (structured query language) and a banking-industry-type of ISAM (Indexed Sequential Access Method) table database, which gives us incredible capacity and speed in a transactional world. Sitting on a Linux DRBD (Distributed Replicated Block Device) cluster platform also gives us some unique characteristics that have only been exposed in the last three years, which provides a high degree of resistance to ransomware and viruses. The platform and architecture have a natural resistance to those types of issues.

We’re going to showcase that at G2E. We’re going to showcase our revenue

audit process, which has some unique auditor tools. That is exciting for auditing, although from a casino-floor buzz and the lights and bells it’s not that exciting. The outcry from the audit department becomes deafening within organizations that are struggling in those areas. We recognize that. So, we’ve spent extra time making our revenue audit process smooth and seamless, and we also provide our customers access to a team of revenue audit specialists. They provide advice when one-off situations occur on gaming floors.

It sounds like you’re going to have a very robust and serious exhibit for conventioneers to see.

partnerships. A lot of times, we have a group of vendors in a location and we all need to cooperate with one another to create a happy customer.

What do you think the big headlines or big takeaways will be from G2E this year?

I believe they will continue in the vein of cashless. I think there’s going to be innovation. There are going to be products shown that provide innovative ways tomake the customer journey on the cashless side more palatable and more appealing. This will probably be less expensive from a fee-structure standpoint as we go forward; to make those feature sets available to operators that are down in the middle section of the casino segment, to be able to bring that same guest experience to a mid-size casino operator that the very, very large are producing. And to do it in a way that gives that customer journey a very unrestricted path.

take those reams and volumes of data, and

We’re particularly proud to showcase our DataTrac product too, which is a slot-floor and loyalty marketing data analytics system of live dashboards for presentation of various analytic data and analysis for operators; whether they’re trying to determine optimization of their slot floor or trying to optimize their promotional offerings based upon their customers mix. That tool is built to enhance the visibility into the data the customer needs in order to take those reams and volumes of data, and boil it down to something you can actually make a decision based on.

You’ve been coming to G2E for years now. What do you look forward to most at the show?

I love the interactions down on the floor. I like to be at the booth. I like to walk around and visit other booths, visit with other people in our industry who we are working with. Sometimes G2E gives us the opportunity to work with new organizations and develop

AN AI JOURNEY

Gaming America speaks with Brooke Fiumara, Co-CEO of OPTX, about how AI will provide real-time solutions on the casino floor.

What are you looking forward to exhibiting at G2E this year?

We are eagerly gearing up to showcase our latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). One of the standout features that OPTX will be presenting is an AI-powered recommendation system designed to optimize player contacts, reinvestment strategies and game performance within a casino environment. Another highlight of our AI is the OPTX AI-driven chatbot technology, which enables users to ask questions and receive answers, prompts, tutorials and reports in real time. Perhaps the most exciting demonstration planned for G2E is the automation of AI-driven attributes through player journeys and campaigns. This advancement allows casinos to create sophisticated, personalized player journeys and marketing campaigns triggered by AI algorithms and automated through the OPTX marketing

through the module. These AI features are expected to be available on

the OPTX platform starting in Q4 of 2023. The rollout will occur progressively over the following two quarters, allowing casinos to gradually integrate and benefit.

What gaps in the market will be filled by OPTX AI products?

Personalized player engagement: OPTX AI introduces a personalized approach, leveraging AI algorithms to analyze player behavior, preferences and trends. This enables casinos to deliver customized recommendations and experiences to individual players.

• Data-driven insights: the gaming industry generates massive amounts of data from player interactions, gaming machines and loyalty programs. OPTX AI provides actionable insights and predictive analytics, helping casinos make informed decisions and optimize their offerings.

• Efficient marketing campaigns: automation of AI-driven attributes in player journeys and campaigns lets casinos create automated, targeted campaigns that adapt to player behaviors in real time. This results in more effective and efficient marketing, as well as improved resource allocation.

• Enhanced usability of software: the OPTX chat feature offers quick and accurate responses, improving a user’s ability to adopt the OPTX Platform, improving historic results.

• Real-time adaptability: the gaming industry demands quick adjustments to changing trends and player preferences. OPTX AI enables casinos to adapt their strategies swiftly, ensuring they remain competitive and responsive to market shifts.

• Innovation in player interaction: AI-powered recommendations and

automated player journeys introduce ways to engage players, leading to a more personalized gaming experience.

• Optimizing game performance: OPTX AI’s data-driven insights lead to more popular games being featured and optimized, ultimately increasing revenue and player engagement.

• Comprehensive platform: OPTX AI offers a unified solution, integrating various AI-driven features. This eliminates casinos needing to piece together multiple systems, streamlining operations.

How important is attending in-person shows to OPTX?

Visiting G2E in person to witness the OPTX Platform live offers a unique and invaluable experience that virtual meetings simply cannot replicate. While virtual meetings have their merits, there are several reasons why attending G2E in person to see the OPTX Platform firsthand is essential, including both real-time interaction (the ability to drive the demo which helps provide a tangible understanding of the OPTX platform) and the ability to engage directly with our executive team; from our CEOs to our CTO and our client success team.

What does OPTX hope to achieve next?

OPTX is committed to pushing the boundaries in AI and automation, with the goal of revolutionizing the way casino operators perceive and utilize data. Our vision is to introduce transformative changes to empower operators to harness the power of AI. Our roadmap for the upcoming centers on: AI advancements, automation solution, comprehensive data integration and the approachability of AI.

ROOTED IN RELATIONSHIPS

Gaming America spoke with Passport Technology’s Chief Product and Marketing Officer, Diallo Gordon about G2E and R&D.

What are the benefits of G2E?

In the realm of gaming – a business rooted in relationships – the spotlight is undeniably on your offerings to convey your message. It’s essential to recognize that casino operators aren’t merely purchasing products; they’re seeking comprehensive solutions to intricate casino challenges.

However, the significance of G2E transcends transactional exchanges. It serves as a bridge for fostering existing connections, amplifying their growth and an unparalleled opportunity to forge new bonds. This is achieved through attentive listening to customers, engaging with regulators, comprehending the driving forces behind their operations and taking full responsibility when we fall short.

Yet, our presence at G2E isn’t solely about reciting our narrative; it’s also about welcoming fresh, exhilarating breakthroughs within the fiercely competitive landscapes of loyalty and Fintech. Within this realm, we are fervently looking for advancements like streamlined casino automation tools, core cash access solutions, revolutionary loyalty programs, mobile/cashless innovations, and cutting-edge compliance measures. This

heightened level of competition serves as an asset to G2E, propelling us forward as the industry trailblazer across every sector.

What products will you be displaying at the event?

Our mobile/cashless solution will be on display at G2E and we couldn’t be more excited to show what we’ve been up to.Our CashSuite™ solutions (core cash access –domestic and international) include ATM, Credit Card Cash Advance, Point of Sale (POS) Debit, Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), Check Cashing and Bill Breaking.

Our loyalty solutions include the Lush® loyalty & rewards HTML5 platform (kiosk and back office), Mira™ enrollment and reprint, integrated gifting and continuity and patron promotions and management. We are excited to show true vertical integration, low technical footprint, robust and open API’s, easy administration, and promotions that drive customer lifetime value. Our cash and cage automation products reside on a fully integrated platform, which plays an integral part in modernizing the casino cage and slot floor.

Furthermore, this year we are excited to showcase our JackpotUnity™ employee kiosk and integrated tablet tax forms. We will also show our LiveCage and Bank Builder Pro™ products. LiveCage powers the casino cage, drives staff efficiency, and provides cashier’s a tool to deliver amazing service with zero variances. Bank Builder Pro automates the issuance of the employee bank to retail and resort outlets with a best-in-class cash recycler solution that affords operators security, interest savings, shrinkage reduction

and efficiency.

What market trends led you to develop these products?

We’ve invested heavily into

innovation precisely where our customers hunger for increased cash to the gaming floor, a distinctive edge through loyalty systems and seamless integration across divergent systems. Gaming has perennially posed formidable technological and intellectual entry barriers, magnified by the weight of stringent regulatory demands. This convergence creates a singular challenge for our industry.

The pandemic served as a profound educator, impressing upon us the imperative of self-service functionality, casino automation, loyalty programs and adaptable payment systems. These elements are imperative if casinos aspire to deliver uninterrupted services amid the formidable challenges posed by staffing shortages and the task of reclaiming customer patronage. This calculus isn’t easy, but it has propelled the development of our efficient solutions in loyalty and core cash access.

While the digital landscape evolves and coordinated cybercrime gains ground, the necessity for security remains unchanged. However, the demand for speed, pinpoint data accuracy, and enhanced tools to curtail risks has intensified. This impetus has driven the evolution of our compliance products.

What is Passport Technology looking to achieve next year?

We have a lot to do. We have several marquee customers that have put their trust and faith in Passport, to deliver the core services central to their casino and resort. Execution, service, product, and innovation are the top priorities for Passport, and we look to bring on several domestic and international enterprise customers to our platforms and suite of products. Our goal is continuous improvement and continuing to push the envelope to define the resort experience.

DEAL OR NO DEAL AT G2E?

Gaming America spoke to Gaming Arts COO Jean Venneman about new licensing deals and a focus on vibrant graphics.

Tell us about the products you’re exhibiting at G2E.

We’re extremely excited to build on the momentum of our Summer Series of Hits, culminating with the anticipated launch of Thor’s Thunder. To build on the success of Thor, we will be debuting a companion theme: a vibrant and fiery volcano goddess game that is either bankable with Thor or strong enough to stand alone. We’ll also

be debuting our first major license, Deal or No Deal, based on the hit television gameshow. The game features linked progressives and jackpots, free games, and of course, the iconic Deal or No Deal Briefcase Bonus. Players will love the immersive experience of playing the gameshow on a slot machine. On the hardware side, we are thrilled to show our brand new VertX Duo cabinet – our next generation dual screen with two 32” 4K monitors for sharp, dazzling graphics that leave the players enthralled. Our flagship theme on the VertX Duo is Jackpot Sweep, an innovative Hold ‘n Spinstyle game where players can win progressives multiple times.

What kind of R&D went into these products?

If there’s one thing our development team is passionate about, it is making great looking games that are fun for the player. Our experienced team of industry experts are proud to showcase new and innovative products at G2E. In addition, we are proud to showcase Deal or No Deal at G2E. Working closely with our partners at Banijay Brands, we have developed a game with a Briefcase Feature

that’s true to the hit TV gameshow while at the same time maintaining unique traditional slot gameplay that can’t be found anywhere else.

What is Gaming Arts’ biggest focus right now?

Our biggest focus is to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation and to deliver unique and fun gaming experiences to players worldwide. We’ve undergone rapid expansion recently, not only in placements but also in jurisdictions and routes. We’ve grown our footprint almost 120% in the last year, and we are looking to continue this incredible momentum by having a focus on innovation and high-quality gameplay. We’re accomplishing this by taking our games to the next level through valuable licenses and cutting-edge new hardware.

What does Gaming Arts hope to get out of attending G2E?

We’re looking forward to creating new relationships, and strengthening existing ones, while showcasing our strong, diverse product portfolio. We also hope to build on our growing brand awareness through unveiling and showcasing our two newest products, the VertX Duo and Deal or No Deal. No matter what the needs of our customers are, we have a product to address it, whether it is through a high-performing ETG terminal, a licensed or core EGM, or eye-catching digital marketing products. We hope to see you at the show and look forward to showcasing our products at the booth.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE GAMES

Gaming America spoke with Kunal Mishra, COO Americas at Bragg Gaming, about the company’s previous experience at G2E and what it is aiming to get out of the 2023 edition.

Looking back at last year, what did you achieve at G2E 2022?

Last year was really the first time the industry got to see the combined power of Spin Games as part of Bragg Gaming Group. Bragg Gaming Group acquired Spin Games, which I was a part of, in mid-2022 and G2E was really the first showing of the strength of both the brands, the technology and the game content. So it was a chance not just to continue the work Spin had done in the US market, but also to add some of the technical innovations that Bragg had, as well as some of the new games that came from the internal and partner studios of Bragg.

Is there anything you’re planning to do differently or anything that worked well last time, that you’re going to repeat this time around?

Yes, the show met with a lot of positive reaction last year in that the customers could see there was a greater depth of product behind the offering Bragg was showing; this year is not just a continuation of that and we will be showing a lot more content. But we’re also going to be showing some new tech features, like our Fuze™ player engagement toolset.

So that really allows us to show we’re not just a single-dimension player in this field, but we have a multi-dimensional product mix; we create the games, but we also create tools to help the operators manage and get the best value out of the games.

What products are you going to have at this year’s G2E?

First and foremost, we’re going to have

games, games and more games. We’ve got games from our internal Bragg Studios. These in-house studios include Wild Streak Gaming, Atomic Slot Lab and Indigo Magic; so those are the games that have been developed by our own game designers.

In addition to that, we intend on showing our premium Powered by Bragg partner games like those from Incredible Technologies, who we’ve had a really longterm relationship with. As well as newer partners, like Bluberi, Sega Sammy Creation and King Show Games, all highly popular brands in the slot world within the North American and the Global Market.

We are also going to be showing games from Galaxy Gaming, which has table games in the field and is probably one of the largest providers of table games globally. We have

been glad to partner with them for the last few years; we’re going to be showing more and more of their games. We also have independent studios that we deal with and those games will be showcased at the show as well, but really, it’s a mix of our internal Bragg Studios content and selected content that has a land-based heritage that we will be showing in the field.

In addition to that, we’ll be showing our player management tools, which allows our customers to extract the greatest benefits of the game when they really start to use those tools in conjunction with the games.

What are you aiming to get out of this year’s G2E?

This year’s goal is pretty simple for me. It is to establish us as one of the must-have providers of games to any iGaming casino in North America. But as much as that, it’s showing the team we’ve created. In the past few years Bragg Gaming Group has acquired Oryx Gaming, they’ve acquired Wild Streak Gaming and Spin Games, and there are a lot of talented individuals originating from each one of these companies.

In addition to that, Bragg has hired a group of people who have really been helping with the cross-coordination among all of these companies. There’s a significant amount of gaming experience and a significant amount of innovation expertise within these folks. So one of the things we hope to do is showcase, not just the strength of the product, but the strength of the people; because, at the end of the day, it’s the people who make the company and the people who make the product.

THE PAYMENTS BURDEN

Gaming America speaks to Leighton Webb, VP & GM, iGaming & Sports Betting at PayNearMe, about the MoneyLine platform and the goal of quick, all-in-one solutions.

What are you looking forward to exhibiting at G2E this year?

We look forward to attending G2E every year. It’s always a pleasure to get faceto-face time within the industry. Our team will have a strong presence and a meeting space where we’re excited to reconnect with colleagues, and share recent platform updates and feature enhancements with G2E attendees. We are also excited to share insights from our newest research study, which is a deeper follow-up to our 2022 research, and focuses

on new and casual bettors. We’ll share data surrounding player behaviors, motivations and preferences — especially related to deposits and withdrawals.

What are you looking to get out of the event?

Our team looks forward to the in-person interaction with all of the gaming industry thought leaders. We jump at the opportunity to have one-on-one time with our partners, prospects and clients. We also look forward to hearing from all of the speakers and thought-leadership panels. It gives us a great opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technology, as well as industry trends and insights that guide us in making product enhancements. We’re definitely excited for the networking events, which are obviously top-notch in Vegas. Hosting events with our partners is always a highlight, since we get to invite our customers and colleagues to get together and learn more about each other in a relaxed environment.

Have you entered any new markets?

PayNearMe is licensed to operate everywhere that online gambling is legal, so we’ve been expanding the MoneyLine platform to be available for all of our operators who have launched in newly legalized states. One of the big advantages we offer operators is that we’re available to get payments live on the same day that a new state launches. Helping operators fuel their market expansion efforts is a main focus of ours, so we want to get them live quickly.

For emerging and regional operators, we’re focusing on optimizing the MoneyLine platform to address their unique challenges, giving them an all-in-one payments solution that will get them to market quickly and without some of the red tape that comes along with a new platform launch. PayNearMe aims to take the pressure off payments, freeing up operator resources to focus on market share acquisition.

We’d also love to walk away with a

since we get to invite our customers and Global Gaming Award (or two)!

What are you hoping to achieve in the next 12 months?

Our goal is to help the online betting industry grow by providing the most comprehensive payment platform for today’s operators. We know that MoneyLine can help new operators go to market quicker by taking the payments burden off them, while it also helps established operators attract and retain their players more effectively. We’ve been listening closely to our customers and we’ll be launching significant platform updates and new features, which will provide another layer of benefits to the MoneyLine platform beyond payment processing — things tied to data insights, risk and fraud, built-in AI and more. Stay tuned for some exciting updates!

MAKING A SPLASH WITH DUCKS, MERMAIDS AND HOGS

Gaming America speaks to Laura Olson-Reyes, SVP of Marketing at Eclipse Gaming, about new slot games and new market expansion.

Tell us about the products you’re exhibiting this year and how they were developed.

We’re thrilled to exhibit at G2E this year in Booth 3040, where we’ll be showcasing an array of new slot game content for our Impact series of dual-screen and portrait cabinets.

Taking center stage will be Duck Dollars, the third title in our successful Arcade Series, following the Big Shake Neon and Big Shake Carnival games. In this exciting featureforward game, players can see the awards on screen as they chase cannon symbols to fire cannons at targets and rubber ducks to win credits or mystery prizes, including multi-level progressives. Duck Dollars offers perceived skill entertainment, as players try their luck to

hit the targets with cannons in this nostalgic carnival adventure.

Another G2E highlight for Eclipse Gaming will be Mermaids Multipliers Splash, an enchanting game where shimmering waters and magical sea creatures await. The beautiful mermaid upgrades symbols and awards random treasure with her siren song. This classic three-reel video slot game features multiplier wilds, random credit awards, and random upgrade features for a game that offers big-win anticipation in the mermaid’s breathtaking underwater realm.

At our G2E booth, we will also showcase an exciting spin-off of an Eclipse Gaming classic player game – Highway Hogs Pig Out. Like the original Highway Hogs, still popular on casino floors across the US, this game features Hammy Sammy, a motorcycleriding pig with a penchant for playfulness. In addition to a multi-level progressive, Highway Hogs Pig Out awards random credit prizes and an anticipatory Piggy Sue’s Diner pick feature, where players touch slices of pie to win credit awards. This game promises to rev up players’ engines!

What’s the achievement Eclipse Gaming is most proud of this year?

We have had an incredible year, as we expanded into new markets like New Mexico, and continued to grow our installed base in our existing markets. Our game portfolio has more than doubled, and we’ve seen our games entertaining players all over America. We have been especially pleased to see our games recognized in the Eilers-Fantini Game

Performance reports, which demonstrate that they are performing for operators and engaging players. In 2023, we were also very proud to win the ‘2023 Large Supply Chain Pioneer of the Year’ award in the Movers & Makers Manufacturing & Supply Chain Awards – recognition for our customerservice approach, economic impact, and innovative products.

How important is attending in-person shows like G2E to Eclipse Gaming?

Shows like G2E are critically important to our business. They offer us the opportunity to see many of our customers and potential customers in one place, and to meet with our vendors and partners and continue strengthening those relationships. These shows are a big investment, but one that we feel is well worth the time, cost, and preparation.

What kinds of gaps in the market are you hoping to fill with your games?

We are a provider of Class II games to Tribal casinos and select commercial casinos. As Eclipse Gaming continues to grow, we hope to expand our product portfolio to offer Class III games that allow us to serve a broader customer base. In the meantime, we have plenty of white space as we focus on continuing to get licensed in more Tribal jurisdictions and expand our sales and service infrastructure to grow our customer base in both existing and new markets.

SETTING THE INDUSTRY ON ITS EAR

Pavilion Payments CEO Christopher Justice teases a “jaw dropping” exhibit at G2E this year. But he won’t say much more than that – yet.

What can you tell me about your exhibit at G2E?

A lot of the stuff we do is really around an integrated omnichannel ecosystem. Because – let’s face it – as a consumer, you’re already omnichannel everywhere you go. You’re on your phone, you’re on the web, you’re self-service. You’re doing the things that are most convenient to you. What you consider convenience is very personal to you.

And so, everything we do is really wrapped around meeting those customers where they are. You got somebody that wants a face-toface experience? Here’s an incredible faceto-face experience. You got somebody that wants self-service, completely automated electronics? Great. You got somebody else who’s mobile? Great. You meet them where they are, they’re more likely to come back and spend more money. Our whole ecosystem is around adding those layers of convenience. That’s the kind of stuff we’re deploying. And now with G2E, there’s a few things we will launch. Right now, it’s under wraps, because we deliver excellence. We don’t deploy anything that doesn’t work. We need to make sure things are far enough down the line to where when we pull off the curtain, you can go “Wow!” and it’s not that concept car that GM puts out in that auto show that you never get to see. No, this is the Tesla that is rolling off the assembly line, 0 to 60 in 1.6 seconds kind of thing.

That’s exciting. It sounds like you’re excited about some of the products you will be launching.

It will set the industry on its ear. 100%.

Well,

that’s an intriguing and bold statement to make.

Well, with technology if it’s not 10x better it typically doesn’t take off, right? Because it’s like, “Eh.” Nobody is motivated enough. The stuff that we’ve been investing in is jaw dropping.

I imagine readers are going to be intrigued when they see this. We’re excited about it and it hasn’t even launched yet. But that’s part of it, because the amount of work and stuff that we do –this has been in our incubator for the last couple of years. Because, with payments, it has to be right. I’ve heard my whole life,

“You don’t mess with people’s kids, and you don’t mess with their money.” And so, when you’re talking about money and how this all works and meeting their expectations – them being whoever’s money we’re talking about here – it has to be perfect.

You have to have a system that unwinds it when there’s a problem. You have to have things that auto-heal and auto-correct. You push a button, you move your money, you think it’s there, it’s not. Even if it’s a few seconds, “My money’s not where I think it is,” you get that sinking feeling in your chest. And you go, “Oh man. Now how long is this going to take to resolve?” And it creates customer service issues. Everything we’ve done heretofore is around eliminating all of those challenges –and there’s some pretty cool ways we go about doing that. But at the end of the day, it’s around certainty and trust. Because if we build that trust relationship from a commerce perspective, everything else the casino wants to add to that just builds and delivers better value to those guests. So we do really well to bolt all those things together really tightly.

I think so. It’ll be super cool to see.

RANDOM SURPRISES ON THE HORIZON

Gaming America speaks to Chris Wieners , Velvix MD, about industry trends and the process behind designing new games.

What are you looking forward to exhibiting at G2E this year?

At the show, we are excited to showcase our four latest game titles: Screaming Mansion, Scorching Million, Boogie For The Money LINK Mystery Fever and Nudge Master. These new titles are fun, and relatively less volatile than our previous game titles. Players can expect lots of actions in the base game, random surprises and a brandnew community feature in the Boogie For The Money LINK series.

What sort of R&D has gone into the creation of these four latest games?

At Velvix, we believe it’s crucial to incorporate UX research when it comes to designing new products. By understanding player behavior and preferences through our research, it allows us to identify what

aspects of the game attract and retain players. We strive to create high-quality graphics, animations and sound effects for our games. The aim is to create visually appealing and immersive experiences for players through art and design. Quality assurance, extensive testing and iterations are conducted throughout the development process. Our R&D team constantly gather feedback from internal and external sources, to identify and fix any issues or areas for improvement.

What trends are you seeing in the overall market when it comes to new slot games?

• Random bonus features: Non-symbol-driven trigger mechanism (with appropriate anticipation animation) has gained popularity over the years. These can occur during base game and excites players with additional awards.

• Community features: Integrate social interaction among players to enhance the overallplayer experience.

• Buy bonus feature: Some games allow players to instantly

purchase the feature instead of waiting for them to trigger naturally.

What is Velvix hoping to achieve in the next year?

Over the upcoming year, Velvix is poised to concentrate its efforts on achieving several key objectives. Primarily, Velvix aims to enhance player satisfaction and retention by consistently delivering a top-notch gaming experience, responsive customer support and engaging gameplay that keeps players invested and content. Additionally, the company is dedicated to elevating its brand recognition by effectively communicating its identity, values and offerings to a wider audience, thereby solidifying its presence in the market. Moreover, Velvix strives to emphasize innovation and uniqueness in its game development, introducing novel concepts and features that set its offerings apart and captivate players’ interests. Lastly, the company aims to expand its market share, employing strategic initiatives that attract new customers and foster sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive gaming landscape.

GOING FRICTION-FREE

Gaming America speaks with Charlie Skinner , President at Marker Trax, about what the company hopes to achieve at G2E, going ‘friction-free,’ and its new and improved cashless advance technology brand.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PROVIDING MOBILE OPTIONS

Gaming America speaks with Gil Rotem, President of iGaming at IGT, about its upcoming appearance at G2E and its PlayDigital product.

What aspect of the business are you most focused on right now?

From the iGaming perspective, IGT PlayDigital is focused on providing our customers with content and services that will help them meet their growth objectives, provide a competitive edge and attract and retain players. IGT PlayDigital supports more than 100 game themes on our remote game server, including the industry’s only omnichannel WAP jackpot games, Powerbucks in Canada and Wheel of Fortune Triple Gold Gold Spin in New Jersey. In the first half of 2023, IGT PlayDigital paid more than $25m in jackpots to online

players – these high-entertainment, lifechanging jackpots at a variety of bet levels bring significant value to operators and their players. In addition, we offer a range of data-driven promotional and business intelligence tools to help our customers offer personalized promotions and exciting rewards, and to maximize the returns of their IGT PlayDigitial investments.

What are you looking forward to exhibiting at G2E this year?

IGT PlayDigital will present within IGT’s booth #3659 which will span more than 19,000 square feet and include more than 200 gaming innovations. Specific to our iGaming portfolio, IGT PlayDigital will spotlight the strength and performance of our omnichannel content with standout games such as Prosperity Link, Wheel of Fortune, Cleopatra, Money Mania and more. Our team will also demonstrate a range of promotional tools and illuminate the many benefits of the IGT PlayDigital game aggregation platform. In addition to highlighting products at industry events, we prioritize connecting with our customers and collecting their feedback on our solutions, as well as gaining insights into their growth and performance goals. These iGaming solutions will be joined by IGT PlaySports technologies as well as games, cabinets, systems and services from IGT’s Global Gaming organization.

What market trends led you to develop the products you will be presenting?

IGT’s focus on omnichannel is inspired by consumer behavior, as

well as our customers’ desire to engage players across channels. Whether it’s shopping, banking or purchasing a coffee, today’s consumers expect brands to offer a mobile option for nearly every aspect of their daily lives. Similarly, most enterprises embrace the notion that having multiple customer touchpoints and offering patrons choice and convenience propels consumer loyalty and accelerates growth. For these reasons, and many more, IGT PlayDigital places a significant focus on omnichannel content. Given the scale of IGT’s game and games features patent portfolios, we are uniquely positioned to offer highperforming games with vast player affinity across channels. In more mature iGaming markets such as Canada and New Jersey, it’s abundantly clear that a cross-channel approach is ideal for fueling performance and driving player acquisition, retention, loyalty and engagement.

What are the benefits of a show like G2E?

IGT looks forward to G2E each year. As the largest gaming conference in North America, the event brings together industry decision-makers from around the world in an impactful way. The energy on the exhibition floor, at networking events and in meetings in our booth is palpable and the interactions are always valuable. For my team, G2E provides a unique platform for our iGaming customers to experience the full potential of our omnichannel games such as Wheel of Fortune, Prosperity Link and others. With the land-based versions of these games just footsteps away, operators get a firsthand experience of why IGT is a leading omnichannel content supplier.

THE PERFECT BALANCE

Gaming America speaks to Shivan Patel , VP North America at Pariplay, about its upcoming appearance at G2E, what products it will be exhibiting and what gaps in the market its offerings are filling.

How important are in-person shows to your company?

We place a great deal of focus on key shows throughout the year and G2E Las Vegas is one of the clear highlights on the calendar. It’s a great chance to communicate face-to-face with valued partners and explore potential new opportunities, while contributing to and attending a series of informative panels. It’s also a fantastic chance to further improve our understanding of the landscape across North America, as we seek to embed ourselves as a leading aggregator.

What gaps in the market do you see being filled by your offerings?

Our offering is designed to benefit operators, by providing their players with the widest range of casino content and engagement tools that increase lifetime values, as well as suppliers of all sizes, by rolling out their games quickly through our extensive network. More providers than ever are applying for licenses in North America and our powerful distribution channel makes commercial sense for them.

As we see it currently in the region, the value of content specifically designed to appeal to geographical-specific tastes has never been greater. Through our Fusion aggregation platform, which incorporates first and third-party studios as well as a content creation program, we have seen how successful slots based on land-based styles have been with players. To deliver on the collective goals of operators and suppliers, it’s vital that the technology is advanced, stable and scalable and ours excels in each of these aspects.

What are you looking forward to exhibiting?

we will be putting to operators at G2E, with our Fusion platform having already made great strides in regulated states with some of the industry’s biggest names.

Of course, we will also be keen to speak with a range of suppliers about how we can take on the complicated, resource-heavy task of quickly rolling out their content across multiple states. For smaller studios seeking to make a splash in the market, we are keen to show off our Ignite solution. This flexible, turnkey development framework enables developers to create and deploy globally through our comprehensive set of iGaming licenses, ensuring maximum coverage immediately on launch and leveraging our global regulated network and proven technologies.

What are you hoping to get out of the event?

With the landscape shifting over the past few years, operators are becoming less interested in the complex task of integrating multiple suppliers into their own Remote Gaming Servers. However, by partnering with an aggregator they can push out a huge range of top-performing content quickly and securely. This is the value proposition

While meeting a host of attendees in Las Vegas, for Pariplay it’s really about getting out the message that we are able to offer a global solution with localized content, bringing games to new audiences while presenting operators with a wide range of value-adding tools. We are also very keen to spread the word about our Wizard Games studio, which has a great range of content already with a very exciting roadmap to come. Under the guidance of Managing Director Benedict McDonagh, Wizard Games has placed a strong emphasis on delivering highly polished experiences that speak strongly to local audiences. For Pariplay, it’s all about creating that perfect balance between in-house solutions and an aggregation offering, to deliver the best possible all-round package.

BUILDING CONNECTIONS

Gaming America speaks with Quincy Raven , Managing Director Aspire Global – US, about its ambitions to network at this year’s G2E.

So we have got G2E coming up soon, tell me a bit about your upcoming appearance. What sort of products were you planning on presenting at the exhibition?

At G2E, we’re presenting our entire product suite that includes PAM, CRM, sports, content, aggregation, as well as our bingo offering. But really, when we look at the value chain of what a US operator – or any operator – would be looking for, we are all highlighting all verticals of the iGaming ecosystem as key partnerships and deployments here in North America. For instance, we just launched PlayAlberta, with our BtoBet sport product. There will also be a heavy emphasis on CRM and player engagement, our sports offering,

both online and retail and how we pull everything together with managed services. When we meet with operators we’re covering all products and services in terms of the offering, but in reality, we’re establishing broad multiyear partnerships adapting to market conditions with a singular goal of ongoing growth.

What does a company like Aspire Global aim to get from an event like G2E?

What we gain is exposure and meaningful in-person meetings where everyone around the table is looking to learn and be as successful as possible in the market. When it comes down to establishing long-term partnerships, we need to get to know each other, because it’s not just the USP of the product that’s going to form that partnership; it’s who we are and how we work together. Coming into G2E, we want to showcase our abilities, what advancements we’ve made on the product side, in the different regions all over the world, not just the US, but how we perform in Europe, in Africa and in all the other regulated markets that we serve to really show the power of the NeoGames Group. It’s to be noticed, get exposure, but then also to come out of the show with strengthened relationships.

What sort of research and development has gone into the products you’ll be exhibiting at G2E?

Always focus on the user experience. Where can you remove friction for the user, making the experience more engaging? The experience is personalized, but first, it must be localized. That's not to say it’s all markets are radically different, but the differences and nuances matter. Our agents use our own tech from back office support to player acquisition and retention, so we are ‘eating our own dog food,’ so to speak; therefore learning from customer support agents through to the end user on app statistics and player preferences. Player predictions and profiling through machine learning and AI have been a part of our platforms for years.

Just lastly, are there any companies or products you’re looking forward to seeing at G2E?

For example, any competitors or any operators? What are you most looking forward to?

The answer without being specific is that we want to see it all. We’ll be sitting down with operators, regulators and third-party suppliers to expand our insights and offer solutions. It takes significant resources in regulated marketings, specifically the in the US going from state to state, because we don’t have federal regulation over how iGaming or sports work. We’re focused on the near term, and mapping out longer term strategies since we, like our partners, take a longer-term view of the markets as they mature.

ETG s , A COMPETITIVE EDGE & AN EVOLVING LANDSCAPE

Mark Larson , Dynamic Gaming Solutions (DGS) CEO, tells Gaming America all about how his company’s booth at G2E this year will be presented in partnership with Spintec.

What can you tell us about the stand DGS will have at G2E? What can attendees expect to see from DGS?

This year DGS is excited to showcase a liveaction Electronic Table Games experience in partnership with Spintec, the developer of high-performing ETGs. As Spintec’s exclusive US distributor, we’re providing attendees with access to their latest casino products on the market. Our booth #2043 will feature thrilling roulette and blackjack tournaments throughout the show, with big prizes for each session winner. Whether it’s live dealer ETGs for larger properties or fully automated options, visitors can explore a diverse range of gaming solutions.

What do you think attendees’ biggest takeaway will be from the DGS booth?

Attendees will gain unique insights into how we work hand in hand with properties to enhance their gaming floors, providing more choices and immersive gameplay. This year, we’re proudly showcasing our partnership with Spintec, a newcomer to the US market, but one who has already demonstrated impressive results. Their ETGs consistently outperform established competitors. Visitors will experience innovative variations of classic table games alongside the latest ETG sign packages. Operators will find tailored solutions and localized support at our booth, where our dedicated team of experts will be available to discuss customized strategies to improve profitability and maintain a competitive edge. Our goal is to empower casinos with more choices and the latest in gameplay, leaving attendees with a clear understanding of how we optimize their gaming offerings.

You’ve been going to G2E for some years now. What do you look forward to most at the conference?

I must say G2E is always a highlight on our calendar. What I look forward to is witnessing the expansion and innovation that comes to life on the exhibition floor. We’ve observed the substantial growth of our manufacturing partners and take pride in knowing we’ve played a role in that, just as they and our casino clients have in ours.

With DGS’s services reaching over 100 gaming jurisdictions across 17 states, we eagerly anticipate continuing this journey of expansion and excellence at G2E and beyond.

What’s your fondest memory from G2Es of years gone by?

My fondest memory is from my very first G2E, when I was in awe of the show’s immense size and the level of dedication vendors put into showcasing their products. The sign packages left me wide-eyed and jaw-dropped. Now, as an exhibitor, I hope to create the same excitement and admiration among casino property attendees. It’s a thrilling experience to be a part of this dynamic event.

What do you think the big headlines or big takeaways will be from G2E this year?

Sports betting is expected to be a major theme once again. At DGS, we have a dedicated division that caters to a range of customer needs from comprehensive sportsbook solutions to managing customers lines, risk management and some of the best in-play odds in the industry. With an increasing number of states legalizing sports betting, it remains a hot topic. Some states that previously prohibited gaming of any kind are now embracing sports betting, potentially opening doors for the legalization of electronic gaming machines in those regions. This trend highlights the evolving landscape and growth opportunities in the industry nationwide.

HEADING TO THE AMERICAS

The Altenar team previews G2E from the sports betting supplier’s perspective.

How do you see the evolution of the North American gaming market, as well as the Canadian one, and how will Altenar take advantage of this context to advance with its sportsbook solution in both jurisdictions?

The North American gaming market, including the Canadian sector, is experiencing a significant evolution driven by regulatory changes and growing interest in online betting. With the recent legalization of sports betting in Canada and multiple states across the US, the market presents immense opportunities.

Altenar is strategically positioned to capitalize on this evolving landscape. We obtained the license in Ontario, Canada as B2B providers last year, giving us the chance to offer our solution to the Canadian players which are similar to the American players with a huge passion for US sports, so we do understand the needs of the players in both markets.

Our sportsbook solution combines advanced technology, extensive market knowledge, and a deep understanding of local regulatory requirements. By leveraging our expertise and experience, we aim to deliver a tailored sportsbook

solution that meets the specific needs of operators in both markets.

In 2024, Las Vegas will host a ton of sporting events. Do you think that this will represent a huge boost for the online betting market in that state? How will Altenar leverage that opportunity? The concentration of sporting events indeed presents a tremendous opportunity for the online betting market. As sporting events generate excitement in both local and international audiences, the demand for online betting is expected to surge.

At Altenar, we recognize the potential of this unique scenario and are prepared to leverage it to the fullest. We are committed to providing an exceptional user experience by offering a seamless, secure and engaging sportsbook platform that caters to the preferences of bettors. We recognize that the American and Canadian gaming markets are unique, with distinct characteristics and preferences.

Our commitment to the Canadian market goes beyond providing a technologically advanced platform. We

actively collaborate with local operators, industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies to gain valuable insights, contribute to the development of responsible gaming practices, and ensure that our solution aligns with the evolving regulatory landscape and hopefully soon with the US market.

What goals do you expect to achieve with Altenar’s presence at this event?

With our presence at G2E Las Vegas, our primary goal is to foster meaningful connections and partnerships within the industry. We aim to showcase our advanced sportsbook solution to operators, regulators and industry professionals, highlighting the unique value proposition Altenar brings to the North American market.

We intend to establish Altenar as a trusted and reliable partner for operators seeking a comprehensive sportsbook solution that combines cutting-edge technology, regulatory compliance and exceptional support. By engaging in discussions, demonstrating our platform’s capabilities, and understanding the specific needs of the North American market, we aim to forge new partnerships and expand our presence in North America.
