A

WELCOME

FROM

YOUR HOST

Gary Roudette CEO, Players Publishing

A warm welcome to you all ahead of our inaugural Global Gaming Awards Asia ceremony. The Awards have been proudly running as the industry’s most prestigious for almost a decade in Las Vegas, and five years in London. Now it’s time for them to extend to Asia, as we venture further than ever before. The undeniable success of so many Asian companies has now made this an inevitability. Asia has, of course, been a huge gambling continent for as long as time can remember. But we felt this year was the right time to expand to the region – based on a few factors. In our existing London and Las Vegas Awards, for example, Asian companies have increasingly been nominated on

merit. The Venetian Macao has also been a memorable past winner at the Global Gaming Awards. Despite the struggles of Macau casinos amid continued Covid-19 effects, other Asian regions are currently prospering. The Philippines is seeing huge success currently, so too Singapore. In fact, Las Vegas Sands’ recent Q2 report looked like a set of scales – for every degree it tipped down on the Macau side, it went up in Singapore (home to the Marina Bay Sands). During the Awards process itself, we have heard from many B2B suppliers across the industry that Asia is a huge priority, and for many a new target for the coming months and years. That, of course, means inclusion for

A huge congratulations to the Global Gaming Awards on its debut in Asia. As is no longer a surprise to anyone, Asia is one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic markets in the industry right now. BetConstruct would like to wish good luck to all

of this year’s nominees. We are looking forward to an amazing virtual ceremony on 22 August.

Lusine Khudaverdyan Philippines Regional Director, BetConstruct

any company in this Shortlist is a mark of prestige and a measure of success. Just like our Las Vegas and London Awards, the Judging process is stringent, meaning anyone nominated has made the Shortlist purely on merit. On that note, we thank our esteemed Judges, the Gambling Insider Editorial Team, our Lead Partner BetConstruct, our Adjudicator KPMG in the Crown Dependencies and all those taking part. In our opinion, these are the best Awards in the industry, rewarding only worthy winners. Good luck everyone!

FROM THE

AWARDS

ADJUDICATOR My first encounter with the Global Gaming Awards was in 2014, when I travelled to G2E to deliver in person the final element of KPMG’s engagement to act as independent adjudicator to the then newly

established Awards – the final ‘on the ground’ check against our own record of category winners; and to attend the Awards ceremony to ensure the right recipient was announced and presented with each Award. So began a beautiful relationship and, I can easily say, my favourite client job. Each year since then, it has been my welcome responsibility to join Julian Perry on-stage at the Sands in Las Vegas and, once the London Awards were launched, in the theatre at the Hippodrome. We announce first the runners-up and then, with increasingly dramatic ‘pre-pauses’ as my confidence has built over the years, the winners in every category. Surely accountants were never meant to have this much fun at work?! In recent years, we have of course also moved some Awards ceremony online – including this one – but the event remains as exciting as ever. We are so delighted that the Global Gaming Awards have now expanded to Asia, and of course there is no change to the voting and adjudication process. We review the Awards’ system and tools for collecting votes (and ensuring Judges cannot vote in categories where they have a conflict), check that the winner & runner-up in each category has been determined correctly based on votes cast, and select a random sample of judges whom we contact to check the votes recorded in the system are a complete and accurate reflection of their voting. KPMG’s commitment to and involvement with this sector is, I believe, unparalleled and that is why we so welcome the opportunity to support the Global Gaming Awards. The combination of a thorough selection process, a highly distinguished panel of Judges, and the organisers’ commitment to independent verification of the Judges’ decisions, means any company or individual that makes it to the final Shortlist should be extremely proud – especially in these inaugural Asia Awards.

through the layout, Blaze has proven an exciting addition to any gaming floor; which is why it is present at properties such as Okada Manila and the Grand Lisboa Palace. Blaze Roulette allows casinos to display eye-catching animations, game state prompts and winning numbers, whereas Blaze Sicbo tables feature a countdown clock with large format numbers to clearly illustrate the end of the betting period. This, along with improved visibility of winning sections, allows pit bosses and security staff to easily monitor game procedures from a distance.

JUMBO TECHNOLOGY – OCEAN PHOENIX

The MDX multi-deck electronic shuffler has the capacity to shuffle up to 10 decks of cards, and is the first device on the market capable of sorting multiple decks of cards – with a one to 10-deck sorting capacity. This eliminates the risk of so-called “edge sorting” of the cards, and tackles that risk by randomly rotating the card feeder elevator 180 degrees throughout the shuffle.

The Taiwanese manufacturer released its latest fishing game last year, Ocean Phoenix. A multiplayer game with an intuitive and user-friendly interface, it is available on Jumbo’s ARK-65 GLI six-seater – while the combination of acoustic and visual effects takes player sensation to new levels. Due to the game’s success throughout Asia, Jumbo Technology recently partnered with US supplier Gaming Arts to bring Ocean Phoenix to the American market.

LIGHT & WONDER – DRAGON TAIL BACCARAT ON THE QUARTZ™ STANDALONE

This is a standalone ETG that was popular even before the pandemic. However, as it allows players to socially distance while still enjoying their favorite features from the hugely popular card game, the ETG became even more popular during the pandemic. There are a few features that are particularly interesting, such as the ability to build your own trend line or histogram with no wager and the card squeeze feature (albeit a digital one).

Last year, Light & Wonder unveiled its latest ETG – the Quartz Standalone, with Dragon Tail Baccarat being the first game to launch on the cabinet. Dragon Tail Baccarat is the first title to launch on the Quartz Standalone cabinet. This game provides a unique player experience with exciting features, such as the Free Hand feature that enables players to find “Hot Shoes” or trends; and an immediate results or “Bang Up” feature on the player touch screen.
